- Now Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah.
- She bore to him Zimran and Jokshan and Medan and Midian and Ishbak and Shuah.
- Jokshan became the father of Sheba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim and Letushim and Leummim.
- The sons of Midian were Ephah and Epher and Hanoch and Abida and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.
- Now Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac;

- アブラハム は， もうひとりの 妻をめとった． その 名は ケトラ といった．
- 彼女は 彼に， ジムラン ， ヨクシャン ， メダン ， ミデヤン ， イシュバク ， シュアハ を 産んだ．
- ヨクシャン は シェバ と デダン を 生んだ． デダン の 子孫は アシュル 人と レトシム 人と レウミム 人であった．
- ミデヤン の 子は， エファ ， エフェル ， エノク ， アビダ ， エルダア であって， これらはみな， ケトラ の 子孫であった．
- アブラハム は 自分の 全財産を イサク に 與えた．

- but to the sons of his concubines, Abraham gave gifts while he was still living, and sent them away from his son Isaac eastward, to the land of the east.
- These are all the years of Abraham's life that he lived, one hundred and seventy-five years.
- Abraham breathed his last and died in a ripe old age, an old man and satisfied with life; and he was gathered to his people.
- Then his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre,
- the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth; there Abraham was buried with Sarah his wife.

- しかし アブラハム のそばめたちの 子らには， アブラハム は 贈り 物を 與え， 彼の 生存中に， 彼らを 東のほう， 東方の 國にやって， 自分の 子 イサク から 遠ざけた．
- 以上は， アブラハム の 一生の 年で， 百七十五年であった．
- アブラハム は 平安な 老年を 迎え， 長壽を 全うして 息絶えて 死に， 自分の 民に 加えられた．

- It came about after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac lived by Beer-lahai-roi.
- Now these are the records of the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maid, bore to Abraham;
- and these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, in the order of their birth: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael, and Kedar and Adbeel and Mibsam
- and Mishma and Dumah and Massa,
- Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.

- These are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their villages, and by their camps; twelve princes according to their tribes.
- These are the years of the life of Ishmael, one hundred and thirty-seven years; and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people.
- They settled from Havilah to Shur which is east of Egypt as one goes toward Assyria; he settled in defiance of all his relatives.
- Now these are the records of the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham became the father of Isaac;
- and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean, to be his wife.

- Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him and Rebekah his wife conceived.
- But the children struggled together within her; and she said, "If it is so, why then am I this way?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.
- The LORD said to her, "Two nations are in your womb; And two peoples will be separated from your body; And one people shall be stronger than the other; And the older shall serve the younger."
- When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
- Now the first came forth red, all over like a hairy garment; and they named him Esau.

- イサク は 自分の 妻のために 主に 祈願した． 彼女が 不妊の 女であったからである． 主は 彼の 祈りに 答えられた． それで 彼の 妻 リベカ はみごもった．
- 子どもたちが 彼女の 腹の 中でぶつかり 合うようになったとき， 彼女は， 「こんなことでは， いったいどうなるのでしょう． 私は． 」と 言った． そして 主のみこころを 求めに 行った．
- すると 主は 彼女に 仰せられた． 「二つの 國があなたの 胎內にあり， 二つの 國民があなたから 分かれ 出る． 一つの 國民は 他の 國民より 强く， 兄が 弟に 仕える． 」
- 出産の 時が 滿ちると， 見よ， ふたごが 胎內にいた．
- 最初に 出て 來た 子は， 赤くて， 全身毛衣のようであった． それでその 子を エサウ と 名づけた．

- Afterward his brother came forth with his hand holding on to Esau's heel, so his name was called Jacob; and Isaac was sixty years old when she gave birth to them.
- When the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the field, but Jacob was a peaceful man, living in tents.
- Now Isaac loved Esau, because he had a taste for game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
- When Jacob had cooked stew, Esau came in from the field and he was famished;
- and Esau said to Jacob, "Please let me have a swallow of that red stuff there, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.

- そのあとで 弟が 出て 來たが， その 手は エサウ のかかとをつかんでいた． それでその 子を ヤコブ と 名づけた． イサク は 彼らを 生んだとき， 六十歲であった．
- この 子どもたちが 成長したとき， エサウ は 巧みな ¿師， 野の 人となり， ヤコブ は 穩やかな 人となり， 天幕に 住んでいた．
- イサク は エサウ を 愛していた． それは 彼が ¿の 獲物を 好んでいたからである． リベカ は ヤコブ を 愛していた．
- さて， ヤコブ が 煮物を 煮ているとき， エサウ が 飢え 疲れて 野から 歸って 來た．
- エサウ は ヤコブ に 言った． 「どうか， その 赤いのを， そこの 赤い 物を 私に 食べさせてくれ． 私は 飢え 疲れているのだから． 」それゆえ， 彼の 名は エドム と 呼ばれた．

- But Jacob said, "First sell me your birthright."
- Esau said, "Behold, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?"
- And Jacob said, "First swear to me"; so he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.
- Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew; and he ate and drank, and rose and went on his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

- すると ヤコブ は， 「今すぐ， あなたの 長子の 權利を 私に 賣りなさい． 」と 言った．
- エサウ は， 「見てくれ． 死にそうなのだ． 長子の 權利など， 今の 私に 何になろう． 」と 言った．
- それで ヤコブ は， 「まず， 私に 誓いなさい． 」と 言ったので， エサウ は ヤコブ に 誓った． こうして 彼の 長子の 權利を ヤコブ に 賣った．
- ヤコブ は エサウ に パン と レンズ 豆の 煮物を 與えたので， エサウ は 食べたり， 飮んだりして， 立ち 去った． こうして エサウ は 長子の 權利を 輕蔑したのである．
