- So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, "Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill?
- "Look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they?
- "However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from."
- Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
- "I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me."

- そこで， エルサレム のある 人たちが 言った． 「この 人は， 彼らが 殺そうとしている 人ではないか．
- 見なさい． この 人は 公然と 語っているのに， 彼らはこの 人に 何も 言わない． 議員たちは， この 人が キリスト であることを， ほんとうに 知ったのだろうか．
- けれども， 私たちはこの 人がどこから 來たのか 知っている． しかし， キリスト が 來られるとき， それが， どこからか 知っている 者はだれもいないのだ． 」
- イエス は， 宮で 敎えておられるとき， 大聲をあげて 言われた． 「あなたがたはわたしを 知っており， また， わたしがどこから 來たかも 知っています． しかし， わたしは 自分で 來たのではありません． わたしを 遣わした 方は 眞實です． あなたがたは， その 方を 知らないのです．
- わたしはその 方を 知っています． なぜなら， わたしはその 方から 出たのであり， その 方がわたしを 遣わしたからです． 」

- So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
- But many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying, "When the Christ comes, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He?"
- The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him.
- Therefore Jesus said, "For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me.
- "You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come."

- そこで 人¿は イエス を 捕えようとしたが， しかし， だれも イエス に 手をかけた 者はなかった． イエス の 時が， まだ 來ていなかったからである．
- 群衆のうちの 多くの 者が イエス を 信じて 言った． 「キリスト が 來られても， この 方がしているよりも 多くのしるしを 行なわれるだろうか． 」
- パリサイ 人は， 群衆が イエス についてこのようなことをひそひそと 話しているのを 耳にした． それで 祭司長， パリサイ 人たちは， イエス を 捕えようとして， 役人たちを 遣わした．
- そこで イエス は 言われた． 「まだしばらくの 間， わたしはあなたがたといっしょにいて， それから， わたしを 遣わした 方のもとに 行きます．
- あなたがたはわたしを 搜すが， 見つからないでしょう． また， わたしがいる 所に， あなたがたは 來ることができません． 」

- The Jews then said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He?
- "What is this statement that He said, 'You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come'?"
- Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
- "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'"
- But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

- そこで， ユダヤ 人たちは 互いに 言った． 「私たちには， 見つからないという． それならあの 人はどこへ 行こうとしているのか． まさか ギリシヤ 人の 中に 離散している 人¿のところへ 行って， ギリシヤ 人を 敎えるつもりではあるまい．
- 『あなたがたはわたしを 搜すが， 見つからない． 』また『わたしのいる 所にあなたがたは 來ることができない． 』とあの 人が 言ったこのことばは， どういう 意味だろうか． 」
- さて， 祭りの 終わりの 大いなる 日に， イエス は 立って， 大聲で 言われた． 「だれでも 渴いているなら， わたしのもとに 來て 飮みなさい．
- わたしを 信じる 者は， 聖書が 言っているとおりに， その 人の 心の 奧底から， 生ける 水の 川が 流れ 出るようになる． 」
- これは， イエス を 信じる 者が 後になってから 受ける 御靈のことを 言われたのである． イエス はまだ 榮光を 受けておられなかったので， 御靈はまだ 注がれていなかったからである．

- Some of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying, "This certainly is the Prophet."
- Others were saying, "This is the Christ." Still others were saying, "Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He?
- "Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
- So a division occurred in the crowd because of Him.
- Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

- このことばを 聞いて， 群衆のうちのある 者は， 「あの 方は， 確かにあの 預言者なのだ． 」と 言い，
- またある 者は， 「この 方は キリスト だ． 」と 言った． またある 者は 言った． 「まさか， キリスト は ガリラヤ からは 出ないだろう．
- キリスト は ダビデ の 子孫から， また ダビデ がいた ベツレヘム の 村から 出る， と 聖書が 言っているではないか． 」
- そこで， 群衆の 間に イエス のことで 分裂が 起こった．
- その 中には イエス を 捕えたいと 思った 者もいたが， イエス に 手をかけた 者はなかった．

- The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did you not bring Him?"
- The officers answered, "Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks."
- The Pharisees then answered them, "You have not also been led astray, have you?
- "No one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?
- "But this crowd which does not know the Law is accursed."

- それから 役人たちは 祭司長， パリサイ 人たちのもとに 歸って 來た． 彼らは 役人たちに 言った． 「なぜあの 人を 連れて 來なかったのか． 」
- 役人たちは 答えた． 「あの 人が 話すように 話した 人は， いまだかつてありません． 」
- すると， パリサイ 人が 答えた． 「おまえたちも 惑わされているのか．
- 議員とか パリサイ 人のうちで， だれか イエス を 信じた 者があったか．
- だが， 律法を 知らないこの 群衆は， のろわれている． 」

- Nicodemus (he who came to Him before, being one of them) said to them,
- "Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?"
- They answered him, "You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee."
- [Everyone went to his home.

- 彼らのうちのひとりで， イエス のもとに 來たことのある ニコデモ が 彼らに 言った．
- 「私たちの 律法では， まずその 人から 直接聞き， その 人が 何をしているのか 知ったうえでなければ， 判決を 下さないのではないか． 」
- 彼らは 答えて 言った． 「あなたも ガリラヤ の 出身なのか． 調べてみなさい． ガリラヤ から 預言者は 起こらない． 」
- 〔そして 人¿はそれぞれ 家に 歸った．
