- Or do you not know, brethren (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives?
- For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he is living; but if her husband dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband.
- So then, if while her husband is living she is joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress though she is joined to another man.
- Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
- For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.

- それとも， 兄弟たち． あなたがたは， 律法が 人に 對して 權限を 持つのは， その 人の 生きている 期間だけだ， ということを 知らないのですか． ··私は 律法を 知っている 人¿に 言っているのです． ··
- 夫のある 女は， 夫が 生きている 間は， 律法によって 夫に 結ばれています． しかし， 夫が 死ねば， 夫に 關する 律法から 解放されます．
- ですから， 夫が 生きている 間に 他の 男に 行けば， 姦淫の 女と 呼ばれるのですが， 夫が 死ねば， 律法から 解放されており， たとい 他の 男に 行っても， 姦淫の 女ではありません．
- 私の 兄弟たちよ． それと 同じように， あなたがたも， キリスト のからだによって， 律法に 對しては 死んでいるのです． それは， あなたがたが 他の 人， すなわち 死者の 中からよみがえった 方と 結ばれて， 神のために 實を 結ぶようになるためです．
- 私たちが 肉にあったときは， 律法による 數¿の 罪の 欲情が 私たちのからだの 中に ¿いていて， 死のために 實を 結びました．

- But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.
- What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "YOU SHALL NOT COVET."
- But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.
- I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died;
- and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me;

- しかし， 今は， 私たちは 自分を 捕えていた 律法に 對して 死んだので， それから 解放され， その 結果， 古い 文字にはよらず， 新しい 御靈によって 仕えているのです．
- それでは， どういうことになりますか． 律法は 罪なのでしょうか． 絶對にそんなことはありません． ただ， 律法によらないでは， 私は 罪を 知ることがなかったでしょう． 律法が， 「むさぼってはならない． 」と 言わなかったら， 私はむさぼりを 知らなかったでしょう．
- しかし， 罪はこの 戒めによって 機會を 捕え， 私のうちにあらゆるむさぼりを 引き 起こしました． 律法がなければ， 罪は 死んだものです．
- 私はかつて 律法なしに 生きていましたが， 戒めが 來たときに， 罪が 生き， 私は 死にました．
- それで 私には， いのちに 導くはずのこの 戒めが， かえって 死に 導くものであることが， わかりました．

- for sin, taking an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me.
- So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
- Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.
- For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.
- For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.

- それは， 戒めによって 機會を 捕えた 罪が 私を 欺き， 戒めによって 私を 殺したからです．
- ですから， 律法は 聖なるものであり， 戒めも 聖であり， 正しく， また 良いものなのです．
- では， この 良いものが， 私に 死をもたらしたのでしょうか． 絶對にそんなことはありません． それはむしろ， 罪なのです． 罪は， この 良いもので 私に 死をもたらすことによって， 罪として 明らかにされ， 戒めによって， 極度に 罪深いものとなりました．
- 私たちは， 律法が 靈的なものであることを 知っています． しかし， 私は 罪ある 人間であり， 賣られて 罪の 下にある 者です．
- 私には， 自分のしていることがわかりません． 私は 自分がしたいと 思うことをしているのではなく， 自分が 憎むことを 行なっているからです．

- But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good.
- So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.
- For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.
- For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.
- But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.

- もし 自分のしたくないことをしているとすれば， 律法は 良いものであることを 認めているわけです．
- ですから， それを 行なっているのは， もはや 私ではなく， 私のうちに 住みついている 罪なのです．
- 私は， 私のうち， すなわち， 私の 肉のうちに 善が 住んでいないのを 知っています． 私には 善をしたいという 願いがいつもあるのに， それを 實行することがないからです．
- 私は， 自分でしたいと 思う 善を 行なわないで， かえって， したくない 惡を 行なっています．
- もし 私が 自分でしたくないことをしているのであれば， それを 行なっているのは， もはや 私ではなくて， 私のうちに 住む 罪です．
