	역대하 16:1-18:34 북이스라엘 왕 바아사의 침입을 받은 아사는 하나님을 의지하지 않고, 인간적 자구책으로 아람 왕 벤하닷과 동맹하여 대응하였다. 그리고 이를 책망하는 하나니를 투옥시키는 실수를 범하고 말았다. 뒤를 이은 여호사밧은 전면적인 종교 개혁을 단행하고 말씀 교육과 국방 강화에 힘씀으로써 번영을 이루었다. 그러나 아합과 동맹하여 길르앗 라못 탈환에 나서는 실수를 범하였다. 미가야의 예언을 무시한 아합은 이 전쟁에서 전사했으며, 연합군은 패배하였다.

	아사의 불신앙(16:1-16:14)

In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah and fortified Ramah in order to prevent anyone from going out or coming in to Asa king of Judah.

Then Asa brought out silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the king's house, and sent them to Ben-hadad king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying,

"Let there be a treaty between you and me, as between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me."

So Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, and they conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim and all the store cities of Naphtali.

When Baasha heard of it, he ceased fortifying Ramah and stopped his work.

アサの治世の第三十六年に，イスラエルの王バシャはユダに上って來て，ユダの王アサのもとにだれも出入りできないようにするためにラマを築いた．

アサは主の宮と王宮との寶物倉から銀と金を取り出し，ダマスコに住むアラムの王ベン · ハダデのもとに送り屆けて言った．

「私の父とあなたの父上の間にあったように，私とあなたの間に同盟を結びましょう．ご覽ください．私はあなたに銀と金を送りました．どうか，イスラエルの王バシャとの同盟を破棄し，彼が私のもとから離れ去るようにしてください．」

Then King Asa brought all Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building, and with them he fortified Geba and Mizpah.

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, "Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.

"Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand.

"For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars."

Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him for this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

アサ王はユダの人¿をみな連れて行き，バシャが建築に用いたラマの石材と木材を運び出させたうえ，これを用いてゲバとミツパを建てた．

そのとき，予見者ハナニがユダの王アサのもとに來て，彼に言った．「あなたはアラムの王に據り賴み，あなたの神，主に據り賴みませんでした．それゆえ，アラム王の軍勢はあなたの手からのがれ出たのです．

あのクシュ人とルブ人は大軍勢ではなかったでしょうか．戰車と騎兵は非常におびただしかったではありませんか．しかし，あなたが主に據り賴んだとき，主は彼らをあなたの手に渡されたのです．

主はその御目をもって，あまねく全地を見渡し，その心がご自分と全く一つになっている人¿に御力をあらわしてくださるのです．あなたは，このことについて愚かなことをしました．今から，あなたは數¿の戰いに卷き ¿まれます．」

Now, the acts of Asa from first to last, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians.

So Asa slept with his fathers, having died in the forty-first year of his reign.

They buried him in his own tomb which he had cut out for himself in the city of David, and they laid him in the resting place which he had filled with spices of various kinds blended by the perfumers' art; and they made a very great fire for him.

見よ．アサの業績は，最初から最後まで，ユダとイスラエルの王たちの書にまさしくしるされている．

それから，アサはその治世の第三十九年に，兩足とも病氣にかかった．彼の病は重かった．ところが，その病の中でさえ，彼は主を求めることをしないで，逆に醫者を求めた．

アサは，彼の先祖たちとともに眠った．すなわち，その治世の第四十一年に死んだ．

	여호사밧의 선정(17:1-17:19)

Jehoshaphat his son then became king in his place, and made his position over Israel firm.

He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had captured.

The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David's earlier days and did not seek the Baals,

but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.

So the LORD established the kingdom in his control, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.

そこで，彼の子ヨシャパテが代わって王となり，イスラエルに對して勢力を增し加えた．

彼はユダにあるすべての城壁のある町¿に軍隊を置き，ユダの地と，彼の父アサが攻め取ったエフライムの町¿に守備隊を置いた．

He took great pride in the ways of the LORD and again removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah.

Then in the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of the LORD with them; and they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

Now the dread of the LORD was on all the kingdoms of the lands which were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.

彼の心は主の道にいよいよ勵み，彼はさらに，高き所とアシェラ像をユダから取り除いた．

Some of the Philistines brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat; the Arabians also brought him flocks, 7,700 rams and 7,700 male goats.

So Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

He had large supplies in the cities of Judah, and warriors, valiant men, in Jerusalem.

This was their muster according to their fathers' households: of Judah, commanders of thousands, Adnah was the commander, and with him 300,000 valiant warriors;

and next to him was Johanan the commander, and with him 280,000;

また，ペリシテ人の中から，ヨシャパテに贈り物とみつぎの銀を携えて來る者があり，アラビヤ人も，彼のもとに羊の群れ，すなわち，雄羊七千七百頭，雄やぎ七千七百頭を携えて來た．

こうして，ヨシャパテはしだいに ¿みはずれて强大になり，ユダに城塞や倉庫の町¿を築いた．

彼には，ユダの町¿で多くの工事があり，エルサレムには勇士である戰士たちをかかえていた．

and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who volunteered for the LORD, and with him 200,000 valiant warriors;

and of Benjamin, Eliada a valiant warrior, and with him 200,000 armed with bow and shield;

and next to him Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 equipped for war.

These are they who served the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortified cities through all Judah.

その指揮下に，みずから進んで主に身をささげたジクリの子アマスヤ．その配下には二十万人の勇士．

ベニヤミンには，勇士エルヤダ．その配下には，弓と盾を持った者が二十万人．

	아람과의 전쟁(18:1-18:34)

Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor; and he allied himself by marriage with Ahab.

Some years later he went down to visit Ahab at Samaria. And Ahab slaughtered many sheep and oxen for him and the people who were with him, and induced him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.

Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?" And he said to him, "I am as you are, and my people as your people, and we will be with you in the battle."

Moreover, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire first for the word of the LORD."

Then the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" And they said, "Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king."

こうして，ヨシャパテには富と譽れとが豊かに與えられたが，彼はアハブと緣を結んだ．

何年かたって後，彼が，サマリヤに下ってアハブのもとに行ったとき，アハブは彼および彼とともにいた民のために，おびただしい羊や牛の群れをほふったうえ，彼を誘い ¿んで，ラモテ · ギルアデに攻め上らせようとした．

But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not yet a prophet of the LORD here that we may inquire of him?"

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me but always evil. He is Micaiah, son of Imla." But Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."

Then the king of Israel called an officer and said, "Bring quickly Micaiah, Imla's son."

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'With these you shall gore the Arameans until they are consumed.'"

ところが，ヨシャパテは，「ここには，私たちがみこころを求めることのできる主の預言者がほかにいないのですか．」と言った．

イスラエルの王はヨシャパテに答えた．「いや，ほかにもうひとり，私たちが主のみこころを求めることのできる者がいます．しかし，私は彼を憎んでいます．彼は私について，決して良いことは預言せず，いつも惡いことばかりを預言するからです．それは，イムラの子ミカヤです．」すると，ヨシャパテは言った．「王よ．そういうふうには言わないでください．」

そこで，イスラエルの王はひとりの宦官を呼び寄せ，「急いで，イムラの子ミカヤを呼んで來なさい．」と命じた．

イスラエルの王と，ユダの王ヨシャパテは，おのおの王服を着て，王の座に着き，サマリヤの門の入口にある打ち場にすわっていた．預言者はみな，ふたりの前で預言していた．

そのとき，ケナアナの子ゼデキヤは，王のために鐵の角を作って言った．「主はこう仰せられます．『これらの角で，あなたはアラムを突いて，絶滅させなければならない．』」

All the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, "Go up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the LORD will give it into the hand of the king."

Then the messenger who went to summon Micaiah spoke to him saying, "Behold, the words of the prophets are uniformly favorable to the king. So please let your word be like one of them and speak favorably."

But Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, what my God says, that I will speak."

When he came to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" He said, "Go up and succeed, for they will be given into your hand."

Then the king said to him, "How many times must I adjure you to speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"

ほかの預言者たちもみな，同じように預言して言った．「ラモテ · ギルアデに攻め上って勝利を得なさい．主は王の手にこれを渡されます．」

さて，ミカヤを呼びに行った使いの者はミカヤに告げて言った．「いいですか．預言者たちは口をそろえて，王に對し良いことを述べています．お願いですから，あなたもみなと同じように語り，良いことを述べてください．」

すると，ミカヤは答えた．「主は生きておられる．私の神が告げられることを，そのまま述べよう．」

彼が王のもとに着くと，王は彼に言った．「ミカヤ．私たちはラモテ · ギルアデに戰いに行くべきだろうか．それとも，私はやめるべきだろうか．」すると，彼は答えた．「攻め上って勝利を得なさい．彼らはあなたがたの手に渡されます．」

すると，王は彼に言った．「いったい，私が何度あなたに誓わせたら，あなたは主の名によって眞實だけを私に告げるようになるのか．」

So he said, "I saw all Israel Scattered on the mountains, Like sheep which have no shepherd; And the LORD said, 'These have no master. Let each of them return to his house in peace.'"

Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"

Micaiah said, "Therefore, hear the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.

"The LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said this while another said that.

"Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' And the LORD said to him, 'How?'

彼は答えた．「私は全イスラエルが，山¿に散らされているのを見た．まるで，飼い主のいない羊の群れのように．そのとき，主は仰せられた．『彼らには主人がいない．彼らをおのおのその家に無事に歸さなければならない．』」

それから，ひとりの靈が進み出て，主の前に立ち，『この私が彼を惑わします．』と言いますと，主が彼に『どういうふうにやるのか．』と尋ねられました．

"He said, 'I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' Then He said, 'You are to entice him and prevail also. Go and do so.'

"Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, for the LORD has proclaimed disaster against you."

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, "How did the Spirit of the LORD pass from me to speak to you?"

Micaiah said, "Behold, you will see on that day when you enter an inner room to hide yourself."

Then the king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son;

彼は答えました．『私が出て行き，彼のすべての預言者の口で僞りを言う靈となります．』すると，『あなたはきっと惑わすことができよう．出て行って，そのとおりにせよ．』と仰せられました．

今，ご覽のとおり，主はここにいるあなたの預言者たちの口に僞りを言う靈を授けられました．主はあなたに下るわざわいを告げられたのです．」

すると，ケナアナの子ゼデキヤが近寄って來て，ミカヤの頰をなぐりつけて言った．「どの道を通って，主の靈が私を離れて行き，おまえに語ったというのか．」

ミカヤは答えた．「いまに，あなたが奧の間にはいって身を隱すときに，思い知るであろう．」

すると，イスラエルの王は言った．「ミカヤを連れて行け．町のつかさアモンと王の子ヨアシュのもとに下がらせよ．

and say, 'Thus says the king, "Put this man in prison and feed him sparingly with bread and water until I return safely."'"

Micaiah said, "If you indeed return safely, the LORD has not spoken by me." And he said, "Listen, all you people."

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up against Ramoth-gilead.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you put on your robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.

Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Do not fight with small or great, but with the king of Israel alone."

王が『この男を獄屋に入れ，私が無事に戾って來るまで，わずかなパンとわずかな水をあてがっておけ．』と命じたと言え．」

ミカヤは言った．「万が一，あなたが無事に戾って來られることがあるなら，主は私によって語られなかったのです．」そして，「みなの人¿よ．聞いておきなさい．」と言った．

こうして，イスラエルの王とユダの王ヨシャパテは，ラモテ · ギルアデに攻め上った．

そのとき，イスラエルの王はヨシャパテに言った．「私は變裝して戰いに行こう．でも，あなたは，自分の王服を着ていてください．」こうして，イスラエルの王は變裝し，彼らは戰いに行った．

アラムの王は，自分の配下の戰車隊長たちに命じて言った．「兵や將校とは戰うな．ただイスラエルの王を目ざして戰え．」

So when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "It is the king of Israel," and they turned aside to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him, and God diverted them from him.

When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

A certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel in a joint of the armor. So he said to the driver of the chariot, "Turn around and take me out of the fight, for I am severely wounded."

The battle raged that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot in front of the Arameans until the evening; and at sunset he died.

戰車隊長たちはヨシャパテを見たとき，「あれはイスラエルの王に違いない．」と思ったので，彼を取り圍んで戰おうとした．すると，ヨシャパテは助けを叫び求めた．主は彼を助けられた．神は彼らを，彼から離れるように仕向けられた．

戰車隊長たちは，彼がイスラエルの王ではないことを知ったとき，彼を追うことをやめ，引き返した．

ところが，ひとりの兵士が何げなく弓を放つと，イスラエルの王の胸當てと草摺の間を射拔いた．そこで，王は戰車の御者に言った．「手綱を返して，私を敵陣から拔け出させてくれ．傷を負ってしまった．」

その日，戰いはますます激しくなった．イスラエルの王はアラムに向かって，夕方まで戰車の中に立っていたが，日¿のころになって死んだ．
