	역대하 31:1-32:33 히스기야는 전국에 있는 우상을 없애고, 성전 일을 맡은 제사장과 레위인의 직책을 회복시킨 후 보수 규정을 마련하여 그 직책을 안정시켰다. 그리고 십일조와 예물의 효과적 관리 분배로 불필요한 낭비를 방지하였다. 또한 히스기야는 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 유다를 침략했지만 하나님의 도우심으로 그들을 물리쳤다.

	히스기야의 종교 개혁(31:1-31:21)

Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah, broke the pillars in pieces, cut down the Asherim and pulled down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the sons of Israel returned to their cities, each to his possession.

And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites by their divisions, each according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.

He also appointed the king's portion of his goods for the burnt offerings, namely, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths and for the new moons and for the fixed festivals, as it is written in the law of the LORD.

Also he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might devote themselves to the law of the LORD.

As soon as the order spread, the sons of Israel provided in abundance the first fruits of grain, new wine, oil, honey and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of all.

これらすべてのことが終わると，そこにいた全イスラエルは，ユダの町¿に出て行き，石の柱を打ちこわし，アシェラ像を切り落とし，全ユダとベニヤミンの中から，エフライムとマナセの中から，高き所と祭壇を取りこわして，絶ち滅ぼした．そして，イスラエル人はみな，おのおのその所有地，それぞれの町へ歸って行った．

ヒゼキヤは，祭司とレビ人の組を定め，祭司とレビ人に，それぞれその奉仕に應じて，おのおのの組ごとに，全燒のいけにえと和解のいけにえをささげさせ，さらに，主の宿營の門で仕え，感謝し，ほめたたえさせた．

また，主の律法にしるされているとおりに，朝夕の全燒のいけにえ，安息日，新月の祭り，例祭ごとにささげる全燒のいけにえのため，王の分は王の財産から出した．

さらに彼は，エルサレムに住む民に，祭司とレビ人の分を與えるように命じた．祭司とレビ人が主の律法に專念するためであった．

この命令が廣まるとともに，イスラエルの人たちは，穀物，新しいぶどう酒，油，蜜など，すべての野の收穫の初物をたくさん持って來た．彼らはすべてのものの十分の一を豊富に携えて來た．

The sons of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of sacred gifts which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and placed them in heaps.

In the third month they began to make the heaps, and finished them by the seventh month.

When Hezekiah and the rulers came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.

Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.

Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok said to him, "Since the contributions began to be brought into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat with plenty left over, for the LORD has blessed His people, and this great quantity is left over."

ユダの町¿に住むイスラエルと，ユダの人たちもまた，牛や羊の十分の一と，彼らの神，主に聖別した聖なるささげ物の十分の一を携えて來て，あちらこちらに山と積んだ．

第三の月に，彼らは積み始め，第七の月に終わった．

ヒゼキヤとつかさたちは，はいって來て，積んだ山を見，主とその民イスラエルをほめたたえ，祝福した．

それから，ヒゼキヤは，その積んだ山について，祭司とレビ人に說明を求めた．

すると，ツァドクの家のかしら，祭司アザルヤが彼に答えて言った．「人¿が奉納物を主の宮に携えて來始めてから，食べて，滿ち足り，たくさん殘りました．主が御民を祝福されたからです．その殘りがこんなにたくさんあるのです．」

Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them.

They faithfully brought in the contributions and the tithes and the consecrated things; and Conaniah the Levite was the officer in charge of them and his brother Shimei was second.

Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and Shimei his brother by the appointment of King Hezekiah, and Azariah was the chief officer of the house of God.

Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the eastern gate, was over the freewill offerings of God, to apportion the contributions for the LORD and the most holy things.

Under his authority were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah and Shecaniah in the cities of the priests, to distribute faithfully their portions to their brothers by divisions, whether great or small,

そこで，ヒゼキヤが主の宮の脇部屋を整えるよう命じたので，彼らは整えて，

その奉納物と十分の一と聖なるささげ物を忠實に携え入れた．彼らを指圖したつかさは，レビ人カナヌヤであり，その兄弟シムイは，副指揮者であった．

エヒエル，アザズヤ，ナハテ，アサエル，エリモテ，エホザバデ，エリエル，イスマクヤ，マハテ，ベナヤは，ヒゼキヤ王と神の宮のつかさアザルヤの任命によって，カナヌヤとその兄弟シムイを助けて，管理者となった．

without regard to their genealogical enrollment, to the males from thirty years old and upward--everyone who entered the house of the LORD for his daily obligations--for their work in their duties according to their divisions;

as well as the priests who were enrolled genealogically according to their fathers' households, and the Levites from twenty years old and upwards, by their duties and their divisions.

The genealogical enrollment included all their little children, their wives, their sons and their daughters, for the whole assembly, for they consecrated themselves faithfully in holiness.

Also for the sons of Aaron the priests who were in the pasture lands of their cities, or in each and every city, there were men who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to everyone genealogically enrolled among the Levites.

Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah; and he did what was good, right and true before the LORD his God.

ただし，三歲以上の男子で，すべて每日の日課として，組ごとに任務につき奉仕に當たるために，主の宮にはいる者として系圖に載せられた人¿は，別であった．

父祖の家ごとに祭司として系圖に載せられた者，および，二十歲以上のレビ人で系圖に載せられた者で，組別にその任務につく人¿も別であった．

また，全集團のうち，すべて系圖に載せられた幼兒，妻たち，息子たち，娘たちに分配した．彼らは，聖なるささげ物を，忠實に，聖なる物として扱ったからである．

おのおのの町の放牧地の野にいたアロンの子らである祭司たちのためには，どの町にも，その名の示された者たちがいて，祭司たちのすべての男子，および，レビ人ですべて系圖に載せられている者に，その受ける分を與えた．

ヒゼキヤはユダ全國にこのように行ない，その神，主の目の前に，良いこと，正しいこと，誠實なことを行なった．

Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.

彼は，彼が始めたすべてのわざにおいて，すなわち，神の宮の奉仕，律法，命令において神に求め，心を盡くして行ない，その目的を果たした．

	산헤립의 침략(32:1-32:33)

After these acts of faithfulness Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and besieged the fortified cities, and thought to break into them for himself.

Now when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to make war on Jerusalem,

he decided with his officers and his warriors to cut off the supply of water from the springs which were outside the city, and they helped him.

So many people assembled and stopped up all the springs and the stream which flowed through the region, saying, "Why should the kings of Assyria come and find abundant water?"

And he took courage and rebuilt all the wall that had been broken down and erected towers on it, and built another outside wall and strengthened the Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in great number.

これらの誠實なことが示されて後，アッシリヤの王セナケリブが來て，ユダにはいり，城壁のある町¿に對して陣を敷いた．そこに攻め入ろうと思ったのである．

ヒゼキヤは，セナケリブが攻め入って，エルサレムに向かって戰おうとしているのを見たので，

彼のつかさたち，勇士たちと相談し，この町の外にある泉の水をふさごうとした．彼らは王を支持した．

そこで，多くの民が集まり，すべての泉と，この地を流れている川をふさいで言った．「アッシリヤの王たちに，攻め入らせ，豊富な水を見つけさせてたまるものか．」

それから，彼は奮い立って，くずれていた城壁を全部建て直し，さらに，やぐらを上に上げ，外側にもう一つの城壁を築き，ダビデの町ミロを强固にした．そのうえ，彼は大量の投げ槍と盾を作った．

He appointed military officers over the people and gathered them to him in the square at the city gate, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

"Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of all the horde that is with him; for the one with us is greater than the one with him.

"With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles." And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

After this Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem while he was besieging Lachish with all his forces with him, against Hezekiah king of Judah and against all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,

"Thus says Sennacherib king of Assyria, 'On what are you trusting that you are remaining in Jerusalem under siege?

彼は，民の上に戰時の隊長たちを立て，彼らを町の門の廣場に召集し，彼らに勵ましのことばを與えて言った．

「强くあれ．雄¿しくあれ．アッシリヤの王に，彼とともにいるすべての大軍に，恐れをなしてはならない．おびえてはならない．彼とともにいる者よりも大いなる方が私たちとともにおられるからである．

彼とともにいる者は肉の腕であり，私たちとともにおられる方は，私たちの神，主，私たちを助け，私たちの戰いを戰ってくださる方である．」民はユダの王ヒゼキヤのことばによって奮い立った．

この後，アッシリヤの王セナケリブは，その家來たちをエルサレムに遣わして， ··彼自身はその全軍を率いてラキシュを攻めていた． ·· ユダの王ヒゼキヤとエルサレムにいたすべてのユダの人¿に向かって言わせた．

「アッシリヤの王セナケリブはこう言っておられる．おまえたちは何に據り賴んで，エルサレムの包圍の中でじっとしているのか．

'Is not Hezekiah misleading you to give yourselves over to die by hunger and by thirst, saying, "The LORD our God will deliver us from the hand of the king of Assyria"?

'Has not the same Hezekiah taken away His high places and His altars, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, "You shall worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn incense"?

'Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands able at all to deliver their land from my hand?

'Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed who could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you from my hand?

'Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you like this, and do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?'"

ヒゼキヤは，『私たちの神，主は，アッシリヤの王の手から私たちを救い出される．』と言って，おまえたちをそそのかし，飢えと渴きで，おまえたちを死なせようとしているではないか．

あの主ではないのか．その高き所と祭壇をヒゼキヤは取り除いておいて，ユダとエルサレムに向かい，『あなたがたは，ただ一つの祭壇の前で拜み，その上で香をたかなければならない．』と言ったのだ．

おまえたちは，私と私の先祖たちが地のすべての國¿の民に對して，何をしてきたかを知らないのか．地の國¿の神¿が彼らの國を私の手から救い出すことができたか．

私の先祖たちが聖絶したこれらの國¿の神¿のうち，どの神が私の手からその民を救い出すことができたか．おまえたちの神が私の手からおまえたちを救い出すことができるというのか．

今，おまえたちは，ヒゼキヤにごまかされるな．このようにそそのかされてはならない．彼を信じてはならない．どのような國，どのような王國のどのような神も，その民を私の手から，私の先祖たちの手から救い出すことはできない．まして，お前たちの神は，おまえたちを私の手から救い出すことはできない．」

His servants spoke further against the LORD God and against His servant Hezekiah.

He also wrote letters to insult the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, "As the gods of the nations of the lands have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah will not deliver His people from my hand."

They called this out with a loud voice in the language of Judah to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten and terrify them, so that they might take the city.

They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, the work of men's hands.

But King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed about this and cried out to heaven.

彼の家來たちは，なおも，神である主とそのしもべヒゼキヤに逆らって弁舌をふるった．

彼は手紙を書いて，イスラエルの神，主をそしり，主に逆らって言った．「私の手から自分たちの民を救い出さなかった地の國¿の神¿と同じように，ヒゼキヤの神も，その民を私の手から救い出せない．」

さらに，彼らは城壁の上にいたエルサレムの民に向かい，ユダのことばで大聲に呼ばわり，彼らを恐れさせ，おじけさせて，この町を取ろうとした．

このように，彼らは，エルサレムの神について，人の手で造ったこの地の民の神¿についてと同じように，語ったのである．

そこで，ヒゼキヤ王とアモツの子預言者イザヤは，このことのゆえに，祈りをささげ，天に叫び求めた．

And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned in shame to his own land. And when he had entered the temple of his god, some of his own children killed him there with the sword.

So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

And many were bringing gifts to the LORD at Jerusalem and choice presents to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations thereafter.

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill; and he prayed to the LORD, and the LORD spoke to him and gave him a sign.

But Hezekiah gave no return for the benefit he received, because his heart was proud; therefore wrath came on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.

すると，主はひとりの御使いを遣わし，アッシリヤの王の陣營にいたすべての勇士，隊長，首長を全滅させた．そこで，彼は恥じて國へ歸り，彼の神の宮にはいったが，自分の身から出た子どもたちが，その所で，彼を劍にかけて倒した．

こうして，主は，アッシリヤの王セナケリブの手，および，すべての者の手から，ヒゼキヤとエルサレムの住民とを救い，四方から彼らを守り導かれた．

多くの人¿が主への贈り物を携え，ユダの王ヒゼキヤに贈るえりすぐりの品¿を持って，エルサレムに來るようになり，この時以來，彼はすべての國¿から尊敬の目で見られるようになった．

そのころ，ヒゼキヤは病氣になって死にかかったが，彼が主に祈ったとき，主は彼に答え，しるしを與えられた．

ところが，ヒゼキヤは，自分に與えられた惠みにしたがって報いようとせず，かえってその心を高ぶらせた．そこで，彼の上に，また，ユダとエルサレムの上に御怒りが下った．

However, Hezekiah humbled the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.

Now Hezekiah had immense riches and honor; and he made for himself treasuries for silver, gold, precious stones, spices, shields and all kinds of valuable articles,

storehouses also for the produce of grain, wine and oil, pens for all kinds of cattle and sheepfolds for the flocks.

He made cities for himself and acquired flocks and herds in abundance, for God had given him very great wealth.

It was Hezekiah who stopped the upper outlet of the waters of Gihon and directed them to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all that he did.

しかしヒゼキヤが，その心の高ぶりを捨ててへりくだり，彼およびエルサレムの住民もそうしたので，主の怒りは，ヒゼキヤの時代には彼らの上に臨まなかった．

さて，ヒゼキヤは，富と譽れに非常に惠まれた．彼は銀，金，寶石，バルサム油，盾，すべての尊い器を納める寶物倉，

穀物，新しいぶどう酒，油の收穫のための倉庫，および，すべての家畜のそれぞれの小屋，群れの小屋を造った．

彼は町¿を建て，羊や牛の家畜もおびただしいものであった．神が，非常に多くの財産を彼に與えられたからである．

このヒゼキヤこそ，ギホンの上流の水の源をふさいで，これをダビデの町の西側に向けて，まっすぐに流した人である．こうして，ヒゼキヤはそのすべての仕事をみごとに成し遂げた．

Even in the matter of the envoys of the rulers of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone only to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.

Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his deeds of devotion, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

So Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the upper section of the tombs of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. And his son Manasseh became king in his place.

バビロンのつかさたちが彼のもとに代言者を遣わし，この地に示されたしるしについて說明を求めたとき，神は彼を試みて，その心にあることをことごとく知るために彼を捨て置かれた．

ヒゼキヤのその他の業績，その忠實な行ないは，アモツの子預言者イザヤの幻，すなわちユダとイスラエルの王たちの書に，まさしくしるされている．

こうして，ヒゼキヤは彼の先祖たちとともに眠り，人¿は彼をダビデの子らの墓地の上り坂に葬った．ユダのすべての人¿とエルサレムの住民は，彼が死んだとき，彼に榮光を與えた．彼の子マナセが代わって王となった．
