- James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.
- Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
- knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
- And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
- But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

- 神と 主 イエス · キリスト のしもべ ヤコブ が， 國外に 散っている 十二の 部族へあいさつを 送ります．
- 私の 兄弟たち． さまざまな 試練に 會うときは， それをこの 上もない 喜びと 思いなさい．
- 信仰がためされると 忍耐が 生じるということを， あなたがたは 知っているからです．
- その 忍耐を 完全に ¿かせなさい． そうすれば， あなたがたは， 何一つ 欠けたところのない， 成長を 遂げた， 完全な 者となります．
- あなたがたの 中に 知惠の 欠けた 人がいるなら， その 人は， だれにでも 惜しげなく， とがめることなくお 與えになる 神に 願いなさい． そうすればきっと 與えられます．

- But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
- For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,
- being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
- But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;
- and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.

- ただし， 少しも 疑わずに， 信じて 願いなさい． 疑う 人は， 風に 吹かれて ¿れ 動く， 海の 大波のようです．
- そういう 人は， 主から 何かをいただけると 思ってはなりません．
- そういうのは， 二心のある 人で， その 步む 道のすべてに 安定を 欠いた 人です．
- 貧しい 境遇にある 兄弟は， 自分の 高い 身分を 誇りとしなさい．
- 富んでいる 人は， 自分が 低くされることに 誇りを 持ちなさい． なぜなら， 富んでいる 人は， 草の 花のように 過ぎ 去って 行くからです．

- For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.
- Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
- Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.
- But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.
- Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

- 太陽が 熱風を 伴って 上って 來ると， 草を 枯らしてしまいます． すると， その 花は 落ち， 美しい 姿は 滅びます． 同じように， 富んでいる 人も， ¿きの 最中に 消えて 行くのです．
- 試練に 耐える 人は 幸いです． 耐え 拔いて 良しと 認められた 人は， 神を 愛する 者に 約束された， いのちの 冠を 受けるからです．
- だれでも 誘惑に 會ったとき， 神によって 誘惑された， と 言ってはいけません． 神は 惡に 誘惑されることのない 方であり， ご 自分でだれを 誘惑なさることもありません．
- 人はそれぞれ 自分の 欲に 引かれ， おびき 寄せられて， 誘惑されるのです．
- 欲がはらむと 罪を 生み， 罪が 熟すると 死を 生みます．

- Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
- Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
- In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

- 愛する 兄弟たち． だまされないようにしなさい．
- すべての 良い 贈り 物， また， すべての 完全な 賜物は 上から 來るのであって， 光を 造られた 父から 下るのです． 父には 移り 變わりや， 移り 行く 影はありません．
- 父はみこころのままに， 眞理のことばをもって 私たちをお 生みになりました． 私たちを， いわば 被造物の 初穗にするためなのです．
