	다니엘 6:1-7:28 다리오 왕은 다니엘의 민첩함과 총명함을 보고 그를 세워 전국을 다스리게 하였으나, 이를 시기하는 총리들과 방백들의 음모로 다니엘은 사자굴에 던져졌다. 그러나 그는 하나님의 도우심으로 살아났고, 오히려 그를 참소했던 자들과 그의 가족들이 사자굴에 던져져 죽임을 당하였다. 벨사살 원년에 다니엘은 네 종류의 짐승에 관한 환상을 보았다.

	사자굴 속의 다니엘(6:1-6:28)

It seemed good to Darius to appoint 120 satraps over the kingdom, that they would be in charge of the whole kingdom,

and over them three commissioners (of whom Daniel was one), that these satraps might be accountable to them, and that the king might not suffer loss.

Then this Daniel began distinguishing himself among the commissioners and satraps because he possessed an extraordinary spirit, and the king planned to appoint him over the entire kingdom.

Then the commissioners and satraps began trying to find a ground of accusation against Daniel in regard to government affairs; but they could find no ground of accusation or evidence of corruption, inasmuch as he was faithful, and no negligence or corruption was to be found in him.

Then these men said, "We will not find any ground of accusation against this Daniel unless we find it against him with regard to the law of his God."

ダリヨスは，全國に任地を持つ百二十人の太守を任命して國を治めさせるのがよいと思った．

彼はまた，彼らの上に三人の大臣を置いたが，ダニエルは，そのうちのひとりであった．太守たちはこの三人に報告を出すことにして，王が損害を受けないようにした．

ときに，ダニエルは，他の大臣や太守よりも，きわだってすぐれていた．彼のうちにすぐれた靈が宿っていたからである．そこで王は，彼を任命して全國を治めさせようと思った．

大臣や太守たちは，國政についてダニエルを訴える口實を見つけようと努めたが，何の口實も欠点も見つけることができなかった．彼は忠實で，彼には何の怠慢も欠点も見つけられなかったからである．

そこでこの人たちは言った．「私たちは，彼の神の律法について口實を見つけるのでなければ，このダニエルを訴えるどんな口實も見つけられない．」

Then these commissioners and satraps came by agreement to the king and spoke to him as follows: "King Darius, live forever!

"All the commissioners of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the high officials and the governors have consulted together that the king should establish a statute and enforce an injunction that anyone who makes a petition to any god or man besides you, O king, for thirty days, shall be cast into the lions' den.

"Now, O king, establish the injunction and sign the document so that it may not be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which may not be revoked."

Therefore King Darius signed the document, that is, the injunction.

Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now in his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem); and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously.

それで，この大臣と太守たちは申し合わせて王のもとに來てこう言った．「ダリヨス王．永遠に生きられますように．

國中の大臣，長官，太守，顧問，總督はみな，王が一つの法令を制定し，禁令として實施してくださることに同意しました．すなわち今から三十日間，王よ，あなた以外に，いかなる神にも人にも，祈願をする者はだれでも，獅子の穴に投げ ¿まれると．

王よ．今，その禁令を制定し，變更されることのないようにその文書に署名し，取り消しのできないメディヤとペルシヤの法律のようにしてください．」

そこで，ダリヨス王はその禁令の文書に署名した．

ダニエルは，その文書の署名がされたことを知って自分の家に歸った． ··彼の屋上の部屋の窓はエルサレムに向かってあいていた． ··彼は，いつものように，日に三度，ひざまずき，彼の神の前に祈り，感謝していた．

Then these men came by agreement and found Daniel making petition and supplication before his God.

Then they approached and spoke before the king about the king's injunction, "Did you not sign an injunction that any man who makes a petition to any god or man besides you, O king, for thirty days, is to be cast into the lions' den?" The king replied, "The statement is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which may not be revoked."

Then they answered and spoke before the king, "Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the injunction which you signed, but keeps making his petition three times a day."

Then, as soon as the king heard this statement, he was deeply distressed and set his mind on delivering Daniel; and even until sunset he kept exerting himself to rescue him.

Then these men came by agreement to the king and said to the king, "Recognize, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians that no injunction or statute which the king establishes may be changed."

すると，この者たちは申し合わせてやって來て，ダニエルが神に祈願し，哀願しているのを見た．

そこで，彼らは王の前に進み出て，王の禁令について言った．「王よ．今から三十日間，あなた以外に，いかなる神にも人にも，祈願をする者はだれでも，獅子の穴に投げ ¿まれるという禁令にあなたは署名されたではありませんか．」王は答えて言った．「取り消しのできないメディヤとペルシヤの法律のように，そのことは確かである．」

そこで，彼らは王に告げて言った．「ユダからの捕虜のひとりダニエルは，王よ，あなたとあなたの署名された禁令とを無視して，日に三度，祈願をささげています．」

このことを聞いて，王は非常に憂え，ダニエルを救おうと決心し，日暮れまで彼を助けようと努めた．

そのとき，あの者たちは申し合わせて王のもとに來て言った．「王よ．王が制定したどんな禁令も法令も，決して變更されることはない，ということが，メディヤやペルシヤの法律であることをご承知ください．」

Then the king gave orders, and Daniel was brought in and cast into the lions' den The king spoke and said to Daniel, "Your God whom you constantly serve will Himself deliver you."

A stone was brought and laid over the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signet rings of his nobles, so that nothing would be changed in regard to Daniel.

Then the king went off to his palace and spent the night fasting, and no entertainment was brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.

Then the king arose at dawn, at the break of day, and went in haste to the lions' den.

When he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you constantly serve, been able to deliver you from the lions?"

そこで，王が命令を出すと，ダニエルは連れ出され，獅子の穴に投げ ¿まれた．王はダニエルに話しかけて言った．「あなたがいつも仕えている神が，あなたをお救いになるように．」

一つの石が運ばれて來て，その穴の口に置かれた．王は王自身の印と貴人たちの印でそれを封印し，ダニエルについての處置が變えられないようにした．

こうして王は宮殿に歸り，一晩中斷食をして，食事を持って來させなかった．また，眠けも催さなかった．

王は夜明けに日が輝き出すとすぐ，獅子の穴へ急いで行った．

その穴に近づくと，王は悲痛な聲でダニエルに呼びかけ，ダニエルに言った．「生ける神のしもべダニエル．あなたがいつも仕えている神は，あなたを獅子から救うことができたか．」

Then Daniel spoke to the king, "O king, live forever!

"My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime."

Then the king was very pleased and gave orders for Daniel to be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

The king then gave orders, and they brought those men who had maliciously accused Daniel, and they cast them, their children and their wives into the lions' den; and they had not reached the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

Then Darius the king wrote to all the peoples, nations and men of every language who were living in all the land: "May your peace abound!

すると，ダニエルは王に答えた．「王さま．永遠に生きられますように．

私の神は御使いを送り，獅子の口をふさいでくださったので，獅子は私に何の害も加えませんでした．それは私に罪のないことが神の前に認められたからです．王よ．私はあなたにも，何も惡いことをしていません．」

そこで王は非常に喜び，ダニエルをその穴から出せと命じた．ダニエルは穴から出されたが，彼に何の傷も認められなかった．彼が神に信賴していたからである．

王が命じたので，ダニエルを訴えた者たちは，その妻子とともに捕えられ，獅子の穴に投げ ¿まれた．彼らが穴の底に落ちないうちに，獅子は彼らをわがものにして，その骨をことごとくかみ ¿いてしまった．

そのとき，ダリヨス王は，全土に住むすべての諸民，諸國，諸國語の者たちに次のように書き送った．「あなたがたに平安が豊かにあるように．

"I make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom men are to fear and tremble before the God of Daniel; For He is the living God and enduring forever, And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed, And His dominion will be forever.

"He delivers and rescues and performs signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has also delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."

So this Daniel enjoyed success in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

私は命令する．私の支配する國においてはどこででも，ダニエルの神の前に震え，おののけ．この方こそ生ける神．永遠に堅く立つ方．その國は滅びることなく，その主權はいつまでも續く．

この方は人を救って解放し，天においても，地においてもしるしと奇蹟を行ない，獅子の力からダニエルを救い出された．」

このダニエルは，ダリヨスの治世とペルシヤ人クロスの治世に榮えた．

	다니엘의 첫 환상(7:1-7:28)

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel saw a dream and visions in his mind as he lay on his bed; then he wrote the dream down and related the following summary of it.

Daniel said, "I was looking in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea.

"And four great beasts were coming up from the sea, different from one another.

"The first was like a lion and had the wings of an eagle. I kept looking until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man; a human mind also was given to it.

"And behold, another beast, a second one, resembling a bear. And it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and thus they said to it, 'Arise, devour much meat!'

バビロンの王ベルシャツァルの元年に，ダニエルは寢床で，一つの夢，頭に浮かんだ幻を見て，その夢を書きしるし，そのあらましを語った．

ダニエルは言った．「私が夜，幻を見ていると，突然，天の四方の風が大海をかき立て，

四頭の大きな ¿が海から上がって來た．その四頭はそれぞれ異なっていた．

第一のものは獅子のようで，鷲の翼をつけていた．見ていると，その翼は拔き取られ，地から起こされ，人間のように二本の足で立たされて，人間の心が與えられた．

また突然，熊に似たほかの第二の ¿が現われた．その ¿は橫ざまに寢ていて，その口のきばの間には三本の肋骨があった．するとそれに，『起き上がって，多くの肉を食らえ．』との聲がかかった．

"After this I kept looking, and behold, another one, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird; the beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.

"After this I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong; and it had large iron teeth It devoured and crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet; and it was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.

"While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts.

"I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow And the hair of His head like pure wool His throne was ablaze with flames, Its wheels were a burning fire.

"A river of fire was flowing And coming out from before Him; Thousands upon thousands were attending Him, And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him; The court sat, And the books were opened.

この後，見ていると，また突然，ひょうのようなほかの ¿が現われた．その背には四つの鳥の翼があり，その ¿には四つの頭があった．そしてそれに主權が與えられた．

その後また，私が夜の幻を見ていると，突然，第四の ¿が現われた．それは恐ろしく，ものすごく，非常に强くて，大きな鐵のきばを持っており，食らって，かみ ¿いて，その殘りを足で踏みつけた．これは前に現われたすべての ¿と異なり，十本の角を持っていた．

私がその角を注意して見ていると，その間から，もう一本の小さな角が出て來たが，その角のために，初めの角のうち三本が引き拔かれた．よく見ると，この角には，人間の目のような目があり，大きなことを語る口があった．

私が見ていると，幾つかの御座が備えられ，年を經た方が座に着かれた．その衣は雪のように白く，頭の毛は混じりけのない羊の毛のようであった．御座は火の炎，その車輪は燃える火で，

火の流れがこの方の前から流れ出ていた．幾千のものがこの方に仕え，幾万のものがその前に立っていた．さばく方が座に着き，幾つかの文書が開かれた．

"Then I kept looking because of the sound of the boastful words which the horn was speaking; I kept looking until the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to the burning fire.

"As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but an extension of life was granted to them for an appointed period of time.

"I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him.

"And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.

"As for me, Daniel, my spirit was distressed within me, and the visions in my mind kept alarming me.

私は，あの角が語る大きなことばの聲がするので，見ていると，そのとき，その ¿は殺され，からだはそこなわれて，燃える火に投げ ¿まれるのを見た．

殘りの ¿は，主權を奪われたが，いのちはその時と季節まで延ばされた．

私がまた，夜の幻を見ていると，見よ，人の子のような方が天の雲に乘って來られ，年を經た方のもとに進み，その前に導かれた．

この方に，主權と光榮と國が與えられ，諸民，諸國，諸國語の者たちがことごとく，彼に仕えることになった．その主權は永遠の主權で，過ぎ去ることがなく，その國は滅びることがない．

私，ダニエルの心は，私のうちで惱み，頭に浮かんだ幻は，私を脅かした．

"I approached one of those who were standing by and began asking him the exact meaning of all this So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things:

'These great beasts, which are four in number, are four kings who will arise from the earth.

'But the saints of the Highest One will receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, for all ages to come.'

"Then I desired to know the exact meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its claws of bronze, and which devoured, crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet,

and the meaning of the ten horns that were on its head and the other horn which came up, and before which three of them fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth uttering great boasts and which was larger in appearance than its associates.

私は，かたわらに立つ者のひとりに近づき，このことのすべてについて，彼に願って確かめようとした．すると彼は，私に答え，そのことの解き明かしを知らせてくれた．

『これら四頭の大きな ¿は，地から起こる四人の王である．

しかし，いと高き方の聖徒たちが，國を受け繼ぎ，永遠に，その國を保って世¿限りなく續く．』

それから私は，第四の ¿について確かめたいと思った．それは，ほかのすべての ¿と異なっていて，非常に恐ろしく，きばは鐵，爪は靑銅であって，食らって，かみ ¿いて，その殘りを足で踏みつけた．

その頭には十本の角があり，もう一本の角が出て來て，そのために三本の角が倒れた．その角には目があり，大きなことを語る口があった．その角はほかの角よりも大きく見えた．

"I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them

until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was passed in favor of the saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived when the saints took possession of the kingdom.

"Thus he said: 'The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it.

'As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings.

'He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.

私が見ていると，その角は，聖徒たちに戰いをいどんで，彼らに打ち勝った．

しかし，それは年を經た方が來られるまでのことであって，いと高き方の聖徒たちのために，さばきが行なわれ，聖徒たちが國を受け繼ぐ時が來た．

彼はこう言った．『第四の ¿は地に起こる第四の國．これは，ほかのすべての國と異なり，全土を食い盡くし，これを踏みつけ，かみ ¿く．

十本の角は，この國から立つ十人の王．彼らのあとに，もうひとりの王が立つ．彼は先の者たちと異なり，三人の王を打ち倒す．

彼は，いと高き方に逆らうことばを吐き，いと高き方の聖徒たちを滅ぼし盡くそうとする．彼は時と法則を變えようとし，聖徒たちは，ひと時とふた時と半時の間，彼の手にゆだねられる．

'But the court will sit for judgment, and his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever.

'Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.'

"At this point the revelation ended. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts were greatly alarming me and my face grew pale, but I kept the matter to myself."

しかし，さばきが行なわれ，彼の主權は奪われて，彼は永久に絶やされ，滅ぼされる．

國と，主權と，天下の國¿の權威とは，いと高き方の聖徒である民に與えられる．その御國は永遠の國．すべての主權は彼らに仕え，服從する．』

ここでこの話は終わる．私，ダニエルは，ひどくおびえ，顔色が變わった．しかし，私はこのことを心に留めていた．」
