- Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.
- And when He came out onto the land, He was met by a man from the city who was possessed with demons; and who had not put on any clothing for a long time, and was not living in a house, but in the tombs.
- Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, "What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me."
- For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and yet he would break his bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.
- And Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Legion"; for many demons had entered him.

- それから， 彼らは ガリラヤ の 對岸， ゲラサ 人の 地に 渡った．
- 陸にあがられると， その 町の 人で， 惡靈につかれて 長いあいだ 着物も 着ず， 家に 居つかないで 墓場にばかりいた 人に， 出會われた．
- この 人が イエス を 見て 叫び 出し， みまえにひれ 伏して 大聲で 言った， 「いと 高き 神の 子 イエス よ， あなたはわたしとなんの 係わりがあるのです． お 願いです， わたしを 苦しめないでください 」．
- それは， イエス が 汚れた 靈に， その 人から 出て 行け， とお 命じになったからである． というのは， 惡靈が 何度も 彼をひき 捕えたので， 彼は 鎖と 足かせとでつながれて 看視されていたが， それを 斷ち 切っては 惡靈によって 荒野へ 追いやられていたのである．
- イエス は 彼に「なんという 名前か 」とお 尋ねになると， 「レギオン と 言います 」と 答えた． 彼の 中にたくさんの 惡靈がはいり ¿んでいたからである．

- They were imploring Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.
- Now there was a herd of many swine feeding there on the mountain; and the demons implored Him to permit them to enter the swine. And He gave them permission.
- And the demons came out of the man and entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
- When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and reported it in the city and out in the country.
- The people went out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened.

- 惡靈どもは， 底知れぬ 所に 落ちて 行くことを 自分たちにお 命じにならぬようにと， イエス に 願いつづけた．
- ところが， そこの 山 ベ におびただしい 豚の 群れが 飼ってあったので， その 豚の 中へはいることを 許していただきたいと， 惡靈どもが 願い 出た． イエス はそれをお 許しになった．
- そこで 惡靈どもは， その 人から 出て 豚の 中へはいり ¿んだ． するとその 群れは， がけから 湖へなだれを 打って 驅け 下り， おぼれ 死んでしまった．
- 飼う 者たちは， この 出來事を 見て 逃げ 出して， 町や 村里にふれまわった．
- 人¿はこの 出來事を 見に 出てきた． そして， イエス のところにきて， 惡靈を 追い 出してもらった 人が 着物を 着て， 正氣になって イエス の 足もとにすわっているのを 見て， 恐れた．

- Those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was demon-possessed had been made well.
- And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes and the surrounding district asked Him to leave them, for they were gripped with great fear; and He got into a boat and returned.
- But the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might accompany Him; but He sent him away, saying,
- "Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you." So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

- それを 見た 人たちは， この 惡靈につかれていた 者が 救われた 次第を， 彼らに 語り 聞かせた．
- それから， ゲラサ の 地方の 民衆はこぞって， 自分たちの 所から 立ち 去ってくださるようにと イエス に 賴んだ． 彼らが 非常な 恐怖に 襲われていたからである． そこで， イエス は 舟に 乘って 歸りかけられた．
- 惡靈を 追い 出してもらった 人は， お 供をしたいと， しきりに 願ったが， イエス はこう 言って 彼をお 歸しになった．
- 「家へ 歸って， 神があなたにどんなに 大きなことをしてくださったか， 語り 聞かせなさい 」． そこで 彼は 立ち 去って， 自分に イエス がして 下さったことを， ことごとく 町中に 言いひろめた．
