	민수기 35:1-36:13 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성에게 그들의 기업 중 일부를 레위인에게 줄 것을 명하셨다. 레위인은 모두 48성읍을 받게 되었는데, 하나님께서는 그 중 6성읍을 도피성으로 정하여 과실로 살인한 자들이 피할 수 있게 하셨다. 슬로브핫 딸들은 하나님께서 제정하신 여성 상속법에 따라 자신과 같은 지파 남자와 결혼하여 기업을 지켰다.

	레위 지파의 성읍(35:1-35:34)

Now the LORD spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying,

"Command the sons of Israel that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their possession cities to live in; and you shall give to the Levites pasture lands around the cities.

"The cities shall be theirs to live in; and their pasture lands shall be for their cattle and for their herds and for all their beasts.

"The pasture lands of the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall extend from the wall of the city outward a thousand cubits around.

"You shall also measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits, with the city in the center. This shall become theirs as pasture lands for the cities.

エリコに近いヨルダンのほとりのモアブの平野で，主はモ ― セに言われた，

「イスラエルの人¿に命じて，その獲た嗣業のうちから，レビびとに住むべき町¿を與えさせなさい．また，あなたがたは，その町¿の周圍の放牧地をレビびとに與えなければならない．

その町¿は彼らの住む所，その放牧地は彼らの家畜と群れ，およびすべての ¿のためである．

あなたがたがレビびとに與える町¿の放牧地は，町の石がきから一千キュビトの周圍としなければならない．

あなたがたは町の外で東側に二千キュビト，南側に二千キュビト，西側に二千キュビト，北側に二千キュビトを計り，町はその中央にしなければならない．彼らの町の放牧地はこのようにしなければならない．

"The cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall give for the manslayer to flee to; and in addition to them you shall give forty-two cities.

"All the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight cities, together with their pasture lands.

"As for the cities which you shall give from the possession of the sons of Israel, you shall take more from the larger and you shall take less from the smaller; each shall give some of his cities to the Levites in proportion to his possession which he inherits."

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

"Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

あなたがたがレビびとに與える町¿は六つで，のがれの町とし，人を殺した者がのがれる所としなければならない．なおこのほかに四十二の町を與えなければならない．

すなわちあなたがたがレビびとに與える町は合わせて四十八で，これをその放牧地と共に與えなければならない．

あなたがたがイスラエルの人¿の所有のうちからレビびとに町¿を與えるには，大きい部族からは多く取り，小さい部族からは少なく取り，おのおの受ける嗣業にしたがって，その町¿をレビびとに與えなければならない」．

主はモ ― セに言われた，

「イスラエルの人¿に言いなさい．あなたがたがヨルダンを渡ってカナンの地にはいるときは，

then you shall select for yourselves cities to be your cities of refuge, that the manslayer who has killed any person unintentionally may flee there.

'The cities shall be to you as a refuge from the avenger, so that the manslayer will not die until he stands before the congregation for trial.

'The cities which you are to give shall be your six cities of refuge.

'You shall give three cities across the Jordan and three cities in the land of Canaan; they are to be cities of refuge.

'These six cities shall be for refuge for the sons of Israel, and for the alien and for the sojourner among them; that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there.

あなたがたのために町を選んで，のがれの町とし，あやまって人を殺した者を，そこにのがれさせなければならない．

これはあなたがたが復讐する者を避けてのがれる町であって，人を殺した者が會衆の前に立って，さばきを受けないうちに，殺されることのないためである．

あなたがたが與える町¿のうち，六つをのがれの町としなければならない．

すなわちヨルダンのかなたで三つの町を與え，カナンの地で三つの町を與えて，のがれの町としなければならない．

これらの六つの町は，イスラエルの人¿と，他國の人および寄留者のために，のがれの場所としなければならない．すべてあやまって人を殺した者が，そこにのがれるためである．

'But if he struck him down with an iron object, so that he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

'If he struck him down with a stone in the hand, by which he will die, and as a result he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

'Or if he struck him with a wooden object in the hand, by which he might die, and as a result he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

'The blood avenger himself shall put the murderer to death; he shall put him to death when he meets him.

'If he pushed him of hatred, or threw something at him lying in wait and as a result he died,

もし人が鐵の器で，人を打って死なせたならば，その人は故殺人である．故殺人は必ず殺されなければならない．

またもし人を殺せるほどの石を取って，人を打って死なせたならば，その人は故殺人である．故殺人は必ず殺されなければならない．

あるいは人を殺せるほどの木の器を取って，人を打って死なせたならば，その人は故殺人である．故殺人は必ず殺されなければならない．

血の復讐をする者は，自分でその故殺人を殺すことができる．すなわち彼に出會うとき，彼を殺すことができる．

またもし恨みのために人を突き，あるいは故意に人に物を投げつけて死なせ，

or if he struck him down with his hand in enmity, and as a result he died, the one who struck him shall surely be put to death, he is a murderer; the blood avenger shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.

'But if he pushed him suddenly without enmity, or threw something at him without lying in wait,

or with any deadly object of stone, and without seeing it dropped on him so that he died, while he was not his enemy nor seeking his injury,

then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the blood avenger according to these ordinances.

'The congregation shall deliver the manslayer from the hand of the blood avenger, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he fled; and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

あるいは恨みによって手で人を打って死なせたならば，その打った者は必ず殺されなければならない．彼は故殺人だからである．血の復讐をする者は，その故殺人に出會うとき殺すことができる．

しかし，もし恨みもないのに思わず人を突き，または，なにごころなく人に物を投げつけ，

あるいは人のいるのも見ずに，人を殺せるほどの石を投げつけて死なせた場合，その人がその敵でもなく，また害を加えようとしたのでもない時は，

會衆はこれらのおきてによって，その人を殺した者と，血の復讐をする者との間をさばかなければならない．

すなわち會衆はその人を殺した者を血の復讐をする者の手から救い出して，逃げて行ったのがれの町に返さなければならない．その者は聖なる油を注がれた大祭司の死ぬまで，そこにいなければならない．

'But if the manslayer at any time goes beyond the border of his city of refuge to which he may flee,

and the blood avenger finds him outside the border of his city of refuge, and the blood avenger kills the manslayer, he will not be guilty of blood

because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the manslayer shall return to the land of his possession.

'These things shall be for a statutory ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

'If anyone kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death at the evidence of witnesses, but no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.

しかし，もし人を殺した者が，その逃げて行ったのがれの町の境を出た場合，

血の復讐をする者は，のがれの町の境の外で，これに出會い，血の復讐をする者が，その人を殺した者を殺しても，彼には血を流した罪はない．

彼は大祭司の死ぬまで，そののがれの町におるべきものだからである．大祭司の死んだ後は，人を殺した者は自分の所有の地にかえることができる．

これらのことはすべてあなたがたの住む所で，代¿あなたがたのためのおきての定めとしなければならない．

人を殺した者，すなわち故殺人はすべて證人の證言にしたがって殺されなければならない．しかし，だれもただひとりの證言によって殺されることはない．

'Moreover, you shall not take ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he shall surely be put to death.

'You shall not take ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to live in the land before the death of the priest.

'So you shall not pollute the land in which you are; for blood pollutes the land and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it.

'You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD am dwelling in the midst of the sons of Israel.'"

あなたがたは死に當る罪を犯した故殺人の命のあがないしろを取ってはならない．彼は必ず殺されなければならない．

また，のがれの町にのがれた者のために，あがないしろを取って大祭司の死ぬ前に彼を自分の地に歸り住まわせてはならない．

あなたがたはそのおる所の地を汚してはならない．流血は地を汚すからである．地の上に流された血は，それを流した者の血によらなければあがなうことができない．

あなたがたは，その住む所の地，すなわちわたしのおる地を汚してはならない．主なるわたしがイスラエルの人¿のうちに住んでいるからである」．

	슬로브핫 딸들의 기업(36:1-36:13)

And the heads of the fathers' households of the family of the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the heads of the fathers' households of the sons of Israel,

and they said, "The LORD commanded my lord to give the land by lot to the sons of Israel as an inheritance, and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.

"But if they marry one of the sons of the other tribes of the sons of Israel, their inheritance will be withdrawn from the inheritance of our fathers and will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they belong; thus it will be withdrawn from our allotted inheritance.

"When the jubilee of the sons of Israel comes, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they belong; so their inheritance will be withdrawn from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers."

Then Moses commanded the sons of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, "The tribe of the sons of Joseph are right in their statements.

ヨセフの子孫の氏族のうち，マナセの子マキルの子であるギレアデの子らの氏族のかしらたちがきて，モ ― セとイスラエルの人¿のかしらであるつかさたちとの前で語って，

言った，「イスラエルの人¿に，その嗣業の地をくじによって與えることを主はあなたに命じられ，あなたもまた，われわれの兄弟ゼロペハデの嗣業を，その娘たちに與えるよう，主によって命じられました．

その娘たちがもし，イスラエルの人¿のうちの他� フ部族のむすこたちにとつぐならば，彼女たちの嗣業は，われわれの父祖の嗣業のうちから取り除かれて，そのとつぐ部族の嗣業に加えられるでしょう．こうしてそれはわれわれの嗣業の分から取り除かれるでしょう．

そしてイスラエルの人¿のヨベルの年がきた時，彼女たちの嗣業は，そのとついだ部族の嗣業に加えられるでしょう．こうして彼女たちの嗣業は，われわれの父祖の部族の嗣業のうちから取り除かれるでしょう」．

モ ― セは主の言葉にしたがって，イスラエルの人¿に命じて言った，「ヨセフの子孫の部族の言うところは正しい．

"This is what the LORD has commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, 'Let them marry whom they wish; only they must marry within the family of the tribe of their father.'

"Thus no inheritance of the sons of Israel shall be transferred from tribe to tribe, for the sons of Israel shall each hold to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

"Every daughter who comes into possession of an inheritance of any tribe of the sons of Israel shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, so that the sons of Israel each may possess the inheritance of his fathers.

"Thus no inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another tribe, for the tribes of the sons of Israel shall each hold to his own inheritance."

Just as the LORD had commanded Moses, so the daughters of Zelophehad did:

ゼロペハデの娘たちについて，主が命じられたことはこうである．すなわち『彼女たちはその心にかなう者にとついでもよいが，ただその父祖の部族の一族にのみ，とつがなければならない．

そうすればイスラエルの人¿の嗣業は，部族から部族に移るようなことはないであろう．イスラエルの人¿は，おのおのその父祖の部族の嗣業をかたく保つべきだからである．

イスラエルの人¿の部族のうち，嗣業をもっている娘はみな，その父の部族に屬する一族にとつがなければならない．そうすればイスラエルの人¿は，おのおのその父祖の嗣業を保つことができる．

こうして嗣業は一つの部族から他の部族に移ることはなかろう．イスラエルの人¿の部族はおのおのその嗣業をかたく保つべきだからである』」．

そこでゼロペハデの娘たちは，主がモ ― セに命じられたようにした．

Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad married their uncles' sons.

They married those from the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained with the tribe of the family of their father.

These are the commandments and the ordinances which the LORD commanded to the sons of Israel through Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho.

すなわちゼロペハデの娘たち，マアラ，テルザ，ホグラ，ミルカおよびノアは，その父の兄弟のむすこたちにとついだ．

彼女たちはヨセフの子マナセのむすこたちの一族にとついだので，その嗣業はその父の一族の屬する部族にとどまった．

これらはエリコに近いヨルダンのほとりのモアブの平野で，主がモ ― セによってイスラエルの人¿に命じられた命令とおきてである．
