- He entered Jericho and was passing through.
- And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich.
- Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.
- So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way.
- When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house."

- さて， イエス は エリコ にはいって， その 町をお 通りになった．
- ところが， そこに ザアカイ という 名の 人がいた． この 人は 取稅人のかしらで， 金持であった．
- 彼は， イエス がどんな 人か 見たいと 思っていたが， 背が 低かったので， 群衆にさえぎられて 見ることができなかった．
- それで イエス を 見るために， 前の 方に 走って 行って， いちじく 桑の 木に 登った． そこを 通られるところだったからである．
- イエス は， その 場所にこられたとき， 上を 見あげて 言われた， 「ザアカイ よ， 急いで 下りてきなさい． きょう， あなたの 家に 泊まることにしているから 」．

- And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly.
- When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner."
- Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much."
- And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.
- "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

- そこで ザアカイ は 急いでおりてきて， よろこんで イエス を 迎え 入れた．
- 人¿はみな， これを 見てつぶやき， 「彼は 罪人の 家にはいって 客となった 」と 言った．
- ザアカイ は 立って 主に 言った， 「主よ， わたしは 誓って 自分の 財産の 半分を 貧民に 施します． また， もしだれかから 不正な 取立てをしていましたら， それを 四倍にして 返します 」．
- イエス は 彼に 言われた， 「きょう， 救がこの 家にきた． この 人も アブラハム の 子なのだから．
- 人の 子がきたのは， 失われたものを 尋ね 出して 救うためである 」．

- While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
- So He said, "A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return.
- "And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, 'Do business with this until I come back.'
- "But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.'
- "When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done.

- 人¿がこれらの 言葉を 聞いているときに， イエス はなお 一つの ·をお 話しになった． それは エルサレム に 近づいてこられたし， また 人¿が 神の 國はたちまち 現れると 思っていたためである．
- それで 言われた， 「ある 身分の 高い 人が， 王位を 受けて 歸ってくるために 遠い 所へ 旅立つことになった．
- そこで 十人の 僕を 呼び 十 ミナ を 渡して 言った， 『わたしが 歸って 來るまで， これで 商賣をしなさい 』．
- ところが， 本國の 住民は 彼を 憎んでいたので， あとから 使者をおくって， 『この 人が 王になるのをわれわれは 望んでいない 』と 言わせた．
- さて， 彼が 王位を 受けて 歸ってきたとき， だれがどんなもうけをしたかを 知ろうとして， 金を 渡しておいた 僕たちを 呼んでこさせた．

- "The first appeared, saying, 'Master, your mina has made ten minas more.'
- "And he said to him, 'Well done, good slave, because you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.'
- "The second came, saying, 'Your mina, master, has made five minas.'
- "And he said to him also, 'And you are to be over five cities.'
- "Another came, saying, 'Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief;

- 最初の 者が 進み 出て 言った， 『ご 主人樣， あなたの 一 ミナ で 十 ミナ をもうけました 』．
- 主人は 言った， 『よい 僕よ， うまくやった． あなたは 小さい 事に 忠實であったから， 十の 町を 支配させる 』．
- 次の 者がきて 言った， 『ご 主人樣， あなたの 一 ミナ で 五 ミナ をつくりました 』．
- そこでこの 者にも， 『では， あなたは 五つの 町のかしらになれ 』と 言った．
- それから， もうひとりの 者がきて 言った， 『ご 主人樣， さあ， ここにあなたの 一 ミナ があります． わたしはそれをふくさに 包んで， しまっておきました．

- for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.'
- "He said to him, 'By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?
- 'Then why did you not put my money in the bank, and having come, I would have collected it with interest?'
- "Then he said to the bystanders, 'Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.'
- "And they said to him, 'Master, he has ten minas already.'

- あなたはきびしい 方で， おあずけにならなかったものを 取りたて， おまきにならなかったものを 刈る 人なので， おそろしかったのです 』．
- 彼に 言った， 『惡い 僕よ， わたしはあなたの 言ったその 言葉であなたをさばこう． わたしがきびしくて， あずけなかったものを 取りたて， まかなかったものを 刈る 人間だと， 知っているのか．
- では， なぜわたしの 金を 銀行に 入れなかったのか． そうすれば， わたしが 歸ってきたとき， その 金を 利子と 一緖に 引き 出したであろうに 』．
- そして， そばに 立っていた 人¿に， 『その 一 ミナ を 彼から 取り 上げて， 十 ミナ を 持っている 者に 與えなさい 』と 言った．
- 彼らは 言った， 『ご 主人樣， あの 人は 旣に 十 ミナ を 持っています 』．

- "I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.
- "But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence."

- 『あなたがたに 言うが， おおよそ 持っている 人には， なお 與えられ， 持っていない 人からは， 持っているものまでも 取り 上げられるであろう．
- しかしわたしが 王になることを 好まなかったあの 敵どもを， ここにひっぱってきて， わたしの 前で 打ち 殺せ 』」．
