룻기

  본서는 사사 시대를 배경으로 기록되었으나, 그 시대의 타락상과는 대조적으로 아름다운 이야기를 들려 주고 있다. 룻은 이방 모압 여인이었지만, 이스라엘의 왕인 다윗의 조상이 되는 영예를 누린다. 이것은 하나님의 나라에 참여하는 것이 혈연에 의한 것이 아니라, 오직 믿음으로 말미암은 순종을 통하여 결정된다는 것을 보여 준다.

  젊은 과부 룻은 시어머니 나오미를 헌신적으로 봉양하며 시어머니가 섬기는 하나님을 믿는다. 이러한 룻에게 하나님께서는 새로운 남편 보아스를 주시고 그를 통해 아들 오벳을 얻게 하심으로써 다윗의 증조모가 되게 하신다.

 

 

룻기 1:1-2:23

 유다 베들레헴을 떠나 모압에 거하던 나오미는 남편과 두 아들이 죽자 고향으로 돌아갈 것을 결심하고 두 며느리 오르바와 룻에게 친정으로 갈 것을 권했다. 그러나 룻은 나오미를 따라 베들레헴으로 갔고, 그 곳에서 이삭을 줍던 룻은 근족인 보아스의 호의를 입게 되었다.
  
  나오미의 두 자부(1:1-1:22)    
 
  1. Now it came about in the days when the judges governed, that there was a famine in the land And a certain man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the land of Moab with his wife and his two sons.
  2. The name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi; and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem in Judah. Now they entered the land of Moab and remained there.
  3. Then Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died; and she was left with her two sons.
  4. They took for themselves Moabite women as wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. And they lived there about ten years.
  5. Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died, and the woman was bereft of her two children and her husband.
  1. さばきづかさが 世を 治めているころ， 國に 飢きんがあったので， ひとりの 人がその 妻とふたりの 男の 子を 連れて ユダ の ベツレヘム を 去り， モアブ の 地へ 行ってそこに 滯在した．
  2. その 人の 名は エリメレク ， 妻の 名は ナオミ ， ふたりの 男の 子の 名は マロン と キリオン といい， ユダ の ベツレヘム の エフラタ びとであった． 彼らは モアブ の 地へ 行って， そこにおったが，
  3. ナオミ の 夫 エリメレク は 死んで， ナオミ とふたりの 男の 子が 殘された．
  4. ふたりの 男の 子はそれぞれ モアブ の 女を 妻に 迎えた． そのひとりの 名は オルパ といい， ひとりの 名は ルツ といった． 彼らはそこに 十年ほど 住んでいたが，
  5. マロン と キリオン のふたりもまた 死んだ． こうして ナオミ はふたりの 子と 夫とに 先だたれた．
  1. Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the land of Moab, for she had heard in the land of Moab that the LORD had visited His people in giving them food.
  2. So she departed from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.
  3. And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go, return each of you to her mother's house. May the LORD deal kindly with you as you have dealt with the dead and with me.
  4. "May the LORD grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband." Then she kissed them, and they lifted up their voices and wept.
  5. And they said to her, "No, but we will surely return with you to your people."
  1. その 時， ナオミ は モアブ の 地で， 主がその 民を 顧みて， すでに 食物をお 與えになっていることを 聞いたので， その 嫁と 共に 立って， モアブ の 地からふるさとへ 歸ろうとした．
  2. そこで 彼女は 今いる 所を 出立し， ユダ の 地へ 歸ろうと， ふたりの 嫁を 連れて 道に 進んだ．
  3. しかし ナオミ はふたりの 嫁に 言った， 「あなたがたは， それぞれ 自分の 母の 家に 歸って 行きなさい． あなたがたが， 死んだふたりの 子とわたしに 親切をつくしたように， どうぞ， 主があなたがたに， いつくしみを 賜わりますよう．
  4. どうぞ， 主があなたがたに 夫を 與え， 夫の 家で， それぞれ 身の 落ち 着き 所を 得させられるように 」． こう 言って， ふたりの 嫁に 口づけしたので， 彼らは 聲をあげて 泣き，
  5. ナオミ に 言った， 「いいえ， わたしたちは 一緖にあなたの 民のところへ 歸ります 」．
  1. But Naomi said, "Return, my daughters. Why should you go with me? Have I yet sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
  2. "Return, my daughters! Go, for I am too old to have a husband. If I said I have hope, if I should even have a husband tonight and also bear sons,
  3. would you therefore wait until they were grown? Would you therefore refrain from marrying? No, my daughters; for it is harder for me than for you, for the hand of the LORD has gone forth against me."
  4. And they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her.
  5. Then she said, "Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her gods; return after your sister-in-law."
  1. しかし ナオミ は 言った， 「娘たちよ， 歸って 行きなさい． どうして， わたしと 一緖に 行こうというのですか． あなたがたの 夫となる 子がまだわたしの 胎內にいると 思うのですか．
  2. 娘たちよ， 歸って 行きなさい． わたしは 年をとっているので， 夫をもつことはできません． たとい， わたしが 今夜， 夫をもち， また 子を 産む 望みがあるとしても，
  3. そのためにあなたがたは， 子どもの 成長するまで 待っているつもりなのですか． あなたがたは， そのために 夫をもたずにいるつもりなのですか． 娘たちよ， それはいけません． 主の 手がわたしに 臨み， わたしを 責められたことで， あなたがたのために， わたしは 非常に 心を 痛めているのです 」．
  4. 彼らはまた 聲をあげて 泣いた． そして オルパ はそのしゅうとめに 口づけしたが， ルツ はしゅうとめを 離れなかった．

  1. But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.
  2. "Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the LORD do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me."
  3. When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more to her.
  4. So they both went until they came to Bethlehem. And when they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was stirred because of them, and the women said, "Is this Naomi?"
  5. She said to them, "Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.
  1. しかし ルツ は 言った， 「あなたを 捨て， あなたを 離れて 歸ることをわたしに 勸めないでください． わたしはあなたの 行かれる 所へ 行き， またあなたの 宿られる 所に 宿ります． あなたの 民はわたしの 民， あなたの 神はわたしの 神です．
  2. あなたの 死なれる 所でわたしも 死んで， そのかたわらに 葬られます． もし 死に 別れでなく， わたしがあなたと 別れるならば， 主よ， どうぞわたしをいくえにも 罰してください 」．
  3. ナオミ は ルツ が 自分と 一緖に 行こうと， 固く 決心しているのを 見たので， そのうえ 言うことをやめた．
  4. そしてふたりは 旅をつづけて， ついに ベツレヘム に 着いた． 彼らが ベツレヘム に 着いたとき， 町はこぞって 彼らのために ¿ぎたち， 女たちは 言った， 「これは ナオミ ですか 」．
  5. ナオミ は 彼らに 言った， 「わたしを ナオミ （樂しみ ）と 呼ばずに， マラ （苦しみ ）と 呼んでください． なぜなら 全能者がわたしをひどく 苦しめられたからです．
  1. "I went out full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the LORD has witnessed against me and the Almighty has afflicted me?"
  2. So Naomi returned, and with her Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, who returned from the land of Moab. And they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.
  1. わたしは 出て 行くときは 豊かでありましたが， 主はわたしをから 手で 歸されました． 主がわたしを 惱まし， 全能者がわたしに 災をくだされたのに， どうしてわたしを ナオミ と 呼ぶのですか 」．
  2. こうして ナオミ は， モアブ の 地から 歸った 嫁， モアブ の 女 ルツ と 一緖に 歸ってきて， 大麥刈の 初めに ベツレヘム に 着いた．
 
  룻과 보아스의 대면(2:1-2:23)    
 
  1. Now Naomi had a kinsman of her husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz.
  2. And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, "Please let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after one in whose sight I may find favor." And she said to her, "Go, my daughter."
  3. So she departed and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers; and she happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
  4. Now behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers, "May the LORD be with you." And they said to him, "May the LORD bless you."
  5. Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, "Whose young woman is this?"
  1. さて ナオミ には， 夫 エリメレク の 一族で， 非常に 裕福なひとりの 親戚があって， その 名を ボアズ といった．
  2. モアブ の 女 ルツ は ナオミ に 言った， 「どうぞ， わたしを 畑に 行かせてください． だれか 親切な 人が 見當るならば， わたしはその 方のあとについて 落ち 穗を 拾います 」． ナオミ が 彼女に「娘よ， 行きなさい 」と 言ったので，
  3. ルツ は 行って， 刈る 人たちのあとに 從い， 畑で 落ち 穗を 拾ったが， 彼女ははからずも エリメレク の 一族である ボアズ の 畑の 部分にきた．
  4. その 時 ボアズ は， ベツレヘム からきて， 刈る 者どもに 言った， 「主があなたがたと 共におられますように 」． 彼らは 答えた， 「主があなたを 祝福されますように 」．
  5. ボアズ は 刈る 人たちを 監督しているしもべに 言った， 「これはだれの 娘ですか 」．
  1. The servant in charge of the reapers replied, "She is the young Moabite woman who returned with Naomi from the land of Moab.
  2. "And she said, 'Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.' Thus she came and has remained from the morning until now; she has been sitting in the house for a little while."
  3. Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Listen carefully, my daughter. Do not go to glean in another field; furthermore, do not go on from this one, but stay here with my maids.
  4. "Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them. Indeed, I have commanded the servants not to touch you. When you are thirsty, go to the water jars and drink from what the servants draw."
  5. Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground and said to him, "Why have I found favor in your sight that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?"
  1. 刈る 人たちを 監督しているしもべは 答えた， 「あれは モアブ の 女で， モアブ の 地から ナオミ と 一緖に 歸ってきたのですが，
  2. 彼女は『どうぞ， わたしに， 刈る 人たちのあとについて， 束のあいだで， 落ち 穗を 拾い 集めさせてください 』と 言いました． そして 彼女は 朝早くきて， 今まで ¿いて， 少しのあいだも 休みませんでした 」．
  3. ボアズ は ルツ に 言った， 「娘よ， お 聞きなさい． ほかの 畑に 穗を 拾いに 行ってはいけません． またここを 去ってはなりません． わたしのところで ¿く 女たちを 離れないで， ここにいなさい．
  4. 人¿が 刈りとっている 畑に 目をとめて， そのあとについて 行きなさい． わたしは 若者たちに 命じて， あなたのじゃまをしないようにと， 言っておいたではありませんか． あなたがかわく 時には 水がめのところへ 行って， 若者たちのくんだのを 飮みなさい 」．
  5. 彼女は 地に 伏して 拜し， 彼に 言った， 「どうしてあなたは， わたしのような 外國人を 顧みて， 親切にしてくださるのですか 」．
  1. Boaz replied to her, "All that you have done for your mother-in-law after the death of your husband has been fully reported to me, and how you left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and came to a people that you did not previously know.
  2. "May the LORD reward your work, and your wages be full from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to seek refuge."
  3. Then she said, "I have found favor in your sight, my lord, for you have comforted me and indeed have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants."
  4. At mealtime Boaz said to her, "Come here, that you may eat of the bread and dip your piece of bread in the vinegar." So she sat beside the reapers; and he served her roasted grain, and she ate and was satisfied and had some left.
  5. When she rose to glean, Boaz commanded his servants, saying, "Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not insult her.
  1. ボアズ は 答えて 彼女に 言った， 「あなたの 夫が 死んでこのかた， あなたがしゅうとめにつくしたこと， また 自分の 父母と 生れた 國を 離れて， かつて 知らなかった 民のところにきたことは 皆わたしに 聞えました．
  2. どうぞ， 主があなたのしたことに 報いられるように． どうぞ， イスラエル の 神， 主， すなわちあなたがその 翼の 下に 身を 寄せようとしてきた 主からじゅうぶんの 報いを 得られるように 」．
  3. 彼女は 言った， 「わが 主よ， まことにありがとうございます． わたしはあなたのはしためのひとりにも 及ばないのに， あなたはこんなにわたしを 慰め， はしためにねんごろに 語られました 」．
  4. 食事の 時， ボアズ は 彼女に 言った， 「ここへきて， パン を 食べ， あなたの 食べる 物を 酢に 浸しなさい 」． 彼女が 刈る 人¿のかたわらにすわったので， ボアズ は 燒麥を 彼女に 與えた． 彼女は 飽きるほど 食べて 殘した．
  5. そして 彼女がまた 穗を 拾おうと 立ちあがったとき， ボアズ は 若者たちに 命じて 言った， 「彼女には 束の 間でも 穗を 拾わせなさい． とがめてはならない．
  1. "Also you shall purposely pull out for her some grain from the bundles and leave it that she may glean, and do not rebuke her."
  2. So she gleaned in the field until evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.
  3. She took it up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. She also took it out and gave Naomi what she had left after she was satisfied.
  4. Her mother-in-law then said to her, "Where did you glean today and where did you work? May he who took notice of you be blessed." So she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked and said, "The name of the man with whom I worked today is Boaz."
  5. Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, "May he be blessed of the LORD who has not withdrawn his kindness to the living and to the dead." Again Naomi said to her, "The man is our relative, he is one of our closest relatives."
  1. また 彼女のために 束からわざと 拔き 落しておいて 拾わせなさい． しかってはならない 」．
  2. こうして 彼女は 夕暮まで 畑で 落ち 穗を 拾った． そして 拾った 穗を 打つと， 大麥は 一 エパ ほどあった．
  3. 彼女はそれを 携えて 町にはいり， しゅうとめにその 拾ったものを 見せ， かつ 食べ 飽きて， 殘して 持ちかえったものを 取り 出して 與えた．
  4. しゅうとめは 彼女に 言った， 「あなたは， きょう， どこで 穗を 拾いましたか． どこで ¿きましたか． あなたをそのように 顧みてくださったかたに， どうか 祝福があるように 」． そこで 彼女は 自分がだれの 所で ¿いたかを， しゅうとめに 告げて， 「わたしが， きょう ¿いたのは ボアズ という 名の 人の 所です 」と 言った．
  5. ナオミ は 嫁に 言った， 「生きている 者をも， 死んだ 者をも， 顧みて， いつくしみを 賜わる 主が， どうぞその 人を 祝福されますように 」． ナオミ はまた 彼女に 言った， 「その 人はわたしたちの 緣者で， 最も 近い 親戚のひとりです 」．
  1. Then Ruth the Moabitess said, "Furthermore, he said to me, 'You should stay close to my servants until they have finished all my harvest.'"
  2. Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, "It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his maids, so that others do not fall upon you in another field."
  3. So she stayed close by the maids of Boaz in order to glean until the end of the barley harvest and the wheat harvest. And she lived with her mother-in-law.
  1. モアブ の 女 ルツ は 言った， 「その 人はまたわたしに『あなたはわたしのところの 刈入れが 全部終るまで， わたしのしもべたちのそばについていなさい 』と 言いました 」．
  2. ナオミ は 嫁 ルツ に 言った， 「娘よ， その 人のところで ¿く 女たちと 一緖に 出かけるのはけっこうです． そうすればほかの 畑で 人にいじめられるのを 免れるでしょう 」．
  3. それで 彼女は ボアズ のところで ¿く 女たちのそばについていて 穗を 拾い， 大麥刈と 小麥刈の 終るまでそうした． こうして 彼女はしゅうとめと 一緖に 暮した．
