	역대하 16:1-18:34 북이스라엘 왕 바아사의 침입을 받은 아사는 하나님을 의지하지 않고, 인간적 자구책으로 아람 왕 벤하닷과 동맹하여 대응하였다. 그리고 이를 책망하는 하나니를 투옥시키는 실수를 범하고 말았다. 뒤를 이은 여호사밧은 전면적인 종교 개혁을 단행하고 말씀 교육과 국방 강화에 힘씀으로써 번영을 이루었다. 그러나 아합과 동맹하여 길르앗 라못 탈환에 나서는 실수를 범하였다. 미가야의 예언을 무시한 아합은 이 전쟁에서 전사했으며, 연합군은 패배하였다.

	아사의 불신앙(16:1-16:14)

In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah and fortified Ramah in order to prevent anyone from going out or coming in to Asa king of Judah.

Then Asa brought out silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the king's house, and sent them to Ben-hadad king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying,

"Let there be a treaty between you and me, as between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me."

So Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, and they conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim and all the store cities of Naphtali.

When Baasha heard of it, he ceased fortifying Ramah and stopped his work.

アサの治世の三十六年にイスラエルの王バアシャはユダに攻め上り，ユダの王アサの所にだれをも出入りさせないためにラマを築いた．

そこでアサは主の宮と王の家の寶藏から金銀を取り出し，ダマスコに住んでいるスリヤの王ベネハダデに贈って言った，

「わたしの父とあなたの父の間のように，わたしとあなたの間に同盟を結びましょう．わたしはあなたに金銀を贈ります．行って，あなたとイスラエルの王バアシャとの同盟を破り，彼をわたしから撤退させてください」．

ベネハダデはアサ王の言うことを聞き，自分の軍勢の長たちをつかわしてイスラエルの町¿を攻め，イヨンとダンとアベル · マイムおよびナフタリのすべての倉の町を擊った．

バアシャはこれを聞いて，ラマを築くことをやめ，その工事を廢した．

Then King Asa brought all Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building, and with them he fortified Geba and Mizpah.

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, "Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.

"Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand.

"For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars."

Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him for this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

そこでアサ王はユダの全國の人¿を引き連れ，バアシャがラマを建てるために用いた石と木材を運んでこさせ，それをもってゲバとミヅパを建てた．

そのころ先見者ハナニがユダの王アサのもとに來て言った，「あなたがスリヤの王に寄り賴んで，あなたの神，主に寄り賴まなかったので，スリヤ王の軍勢はあなたの手からのがれてしまった．

かのエチオピヤびとと，リビアびとは大軍で，その戰車と騎兵は，はなはだ多かったではないか．しかしあなたが主に寄り賴んだので，主は彼らをあなたの手に渡された．

主の目はあまねく全地を行きめぐり，自分に向かって心を全うする者のために力をあらわされる．今度の事では，あなたは愚かな事をした．ゆえにこの後，あなたに戰爭が臨むであろう」．

するとアサはその先見者を怒って，獄屋に入れた．この事のために激しく彼を怒ったからである．アサはまたそのころ民のある者をしえたげた．

Now, the acts of Asa from first to last, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians.

So Asa slept with his fathers, having died in the forty-first year of his reign.

They buried him in his own tomb which he had cut out for himself in the city of David, and they laid him in the resting place which he had filled with spices of various kinds blended by the perfumers' art; and they made a very great fire for him.

見よ，アサの始終の行爲は，ユダとイスラエルの列王の書にしるされている．

アサはその治世の三十九年に足を病み，その病は激しくなったが，その病の時にも，主を求めないで醫者を求めた．

アサは先祖たちと共に眠り，その治世の四十一年に死んだ．

	여호사밧의 선정(17:1-17:19)

Jehoshaphat his son then became king in his place, and made his position over Israel firm.

He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had captured.

The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David's earlier days and did not seek the Baals,

but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.

So the LORD established the kingdom in his control, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.

アサの子ヨシャパテがアサに代って王となり，イスラエルに向かって自分を强くし，

ユダのすべての堅固な町¿に軍隊を置き，またユダの地およびその父アサが取ったエフライムの町¿に守備隊を置いた．

主はヨシャパテと共におられた．彼がその父ダビデの最初の道に步んで，バアルに求めず，

その父の神に求めて，その戒めに步み，イスラエルの行いにならわなかったからである．

He took great pride in the ways of the LORD and again removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah.

Then in the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of the LORD with them; and they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

Now the dread of the LORD was on all the kingdoms of the lands which were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.

そこで彼は主の道に心を勵まし，さらに高き所とアシラ像とをユダから除いた．

彼はまたその治世の三年に，つかさたちベネハイル，オバデヤ，ゼカリヤ，ネタンエルおよびミカヤをつかわしてユダの町¿で敎えさせ，

Some of the Philistines brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat; the Arabians also brought him flocks, 7,700 rams and 7,700 male goats.

So Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

He had large supplies in the cities of Judah, and warriors, valiant men, in Jerusalem.

This was their muster according to their fathers' households: of Judah, commanders of thousands, Adnah was the commander, and with him 300,000 valiant warriors;

and next to him was Johanan the commander, and with him 280,000;

また，ペリシテびとのうちで贈り物や，みつぎの銀をヨシャパテの所に持ってくる者があり，またアラビヤびとは雄羊七千七百頭，雄やぎ七千七百頭を彼に持ってきた．

こうしてヨシャパテはますます大いになり，ユダに要害および倉の町を建て，

ユダの町¿に多くの軍需品を持ち，またエルサレムに大勇士である軍人たちを持っていた．

彼らをその氏族によって數えれば次のとおりである．すなわちユダから出た千人の長のうちでは，アデナという軍長と彼に從う大勇士三十万人，

その次は軍長ヨハナンと彼に從う者二十八万人，

and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who volunteered for the LORD, and with him 200,000 valiant warriors;

and of Benjamin, Eliada a valiant warrior, and with him 200,000 armed with bow and shield;

and next to him Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 equipped for war.

These are they who served the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortified cities through all Judah.

その次は喜んでその身を主にささげた者ジクリの子アマジヤと彼に從う大勇士二十万人．

ベニヤミンから出た者のうちでは，エリアダという大勇士と彼に從う弓および盾を持つ者二十万人，

その次はヨザバデと彼に從う戰いの備えある者十八万人である．

これらは皆王に仕える者たちで，このほかにまたユダ全國の堅固な町¿に，王が駐在させた者があった．

	아람과의 전쟁(18:1-18:34)

Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor; and he allied himself by marriage with Ahab.

Some years later he went down to visit Ahab at Samaria. And Ahab slaughtered many sheep and oxen for him and the people who were with him, and induced him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.

Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?" And he said to him, "I am as you are, and my people as your people, and we will be with you in the battle."

Moreover, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire first for the word of the LORD."

Then the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" And they said, "Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king."

ヨシャパテは大いなる富と譽とをもち，アハブと緣を結んだ．

彼は數年の後，サマリヤに下って，アハブをおとずれた．アハブは彼と彼に從ってきた民のために羊と牛を多くほふり，ラモテ · ギレアデに一緖に攻め上ることを彼にすすめた．

イスラエルの王アハブはユダの王ヨシャパテに言った，「あなたはわたしと一緖にラモテ · ギレアデに攻めて行きますか」．ヨシャパテは答えた，「わたしはあなたと一つです，わたしの民はあなたの民と一つです．わたしはあなたと一緖に戰いに臨みましょう」．

But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not yet a prophet of the LORD here that we may inquire of him?"

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me but always evil. He is Micaiah, son of Imla." But Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."

Then the king of Israel called an officer and said, "Bring quickly Micaiah, Imla's son."

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'With these you shall gore the Arameans until they are consumed.'"

ヨシャパテは言った，「ほかにわれわれが問うべき主の預言者はここにいませんか」．

イスラエルの王はヨシャパテに言った，「ほかになおひとりいます．われわれはこの人によって主に問うことができますが，彼はわたしについて良い事を預言したことがなく，常に惡いことだけを預言するので，わたしは彼を憎みます．その者はイムラの子ミカヤです」．ヨシャパテは言った，「王よ，そうは言わないでください」．

そこでイスラエルの王はひとりの役人を呼んで，「イムラの子ミカヤを急いで連れてきなさい」と言った．

さてイスラエルの王およびユダの王ヨシャパテは王の衣を着て，サマリヤの門の入口の廣場におのおのその玉座に座し，預言者たちは皆その前で預言していた．

ケナアナの子ゼデキヤは鐵の角を造って言った，「主はこう仰せられます，『あなたはこれらの角をもってスリヤびとを突いて滅ぼし盡しなさい』」．

All the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, "Go up to Ramoth-gilead and succeed, for the LORD will give it into the hand of the king."

Then the messenger who went to summon Micaiah spoke to him saying, "Behold, the words of the prophets are uniformly favorable to the king. So please let your word be like one of them and speak favorably."

But Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, what my God says, that I will speak."

When he came to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" He said, "Go up and succeed, for they will be given into your hand."

Then the king said to him, "How many times must I adjure you to speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"

預言者たちは皆そのように預言して言った，「ラモテ · ギレアデに上っていって勝利を得なさい．主はそれを王の手にわたされるでしょう」．

さてミカヤを呼びに行った使者は彼に言った，「預言者たちは一致して王に良い事を言いました．どうぞ，あなたの言葉も，彼らのひとりの言葉のようにし，良い事を言ってください」．

ミカヤは言った，「主は生きておられる．わが神の言われることをわたしは申します」．

彼が王の所へ行くと，王は彼に言った，「ミカヤよ，われわれはラモテ · ギレアデに戰いに行くべきか，あるいは控えるべきか」．彼は言った，「上って行って勝利を得なさい．彼らはあなたの手にわたされるでしょう」．

しかし王は彼に言った，「幾たびあなたを誓わせたら，あなたは主の名をもって，ただ眞實のみをわたしに告げるだろうか」．

So he said, "I saw all Israel Scattered on the mountains, Like sheep which have no shepherd; And the LORD said, 'These have no master. Let each of them return to his house in peace.'"

Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"

Micaiah said, "Therefore, hear the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.

"The LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said this while another said that.

"Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' And the LORD said to him, 'How?'

彼は言った，「わたしはイスラエルが皆牧者のない羊のように山に散っているのを見ました．すると主は『これらの者は主人をもっていない．彼らをそれぞれ安らかに，その家に歸らせよ』と言われました」．

イスラエルの王はヨシャパテに言った，「わたしはあなたに，彼はわたしについて良い事を預言せず，ただ惡い事だけを預言すると告げたではありませんか」．

ミカヤは言った，「それだから主の言葉を聞きなさい．わたしは主がその玉座に座し，天の万軍がその右左に立っているのを見たが，

主は，『だれがイスラエルの王アハブをいざなって，ラモテ · ギレアデに上らせ，彼を倒れさせるであろうか』と言われた．するとひとりは，こうしようと言い，ひとりは，ああしようと言った．

その時一つの靈が進み出て，主の前に立ち，『わたしが彼をいざないましょう』と言ったので，主は彼に『何をもってするか』と言われた．

"He said, 'I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' Then He said, 'You are to entice him and prevail also. Go and do so.'

"Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, for the LORD has proclaimed disaster against you."

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, "How did the Spirit of the LORD pass from me to speak to you?"

Micaiah said, "Behold, you will see on that day when you enter an inner room to hide yourself."

Then the king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son;

彼は『わたしが出て行って，僞りを言う靈となって，すべての預言者の口に宿りましょう』と言った．そこで主は『おまえは彼をいざなって，それをなし遂げるであろう．出て行って，そうしなさい』と言われた．

それゆえ，主は僞りを言う靈をこの預言者たちの口に入れ，また主はあなたについて災を告げられたのです」．

するとケナアナの子ゼデキヤが近寄ってミカヤのほおを打って言った，「主の靈がどの道からわたしを離れて行って，あなたに語りましたか」．

ミカヤは言った，「あなたが奧の間にはいって身を隱す日に見るでしょう」．

イスラエルの王は言った，「ミカヤを捕え，町のつかさアモンと王の子ヨアシの所へ引いて行って，

and say, 'Thus says the king, "Put this man in prison and feed him sparingly with bread and water until I return safely."'"

Micaiah said, "If you indeed return safely, the LORD has not spoken by me." And he said, "Listen, all you people."

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up against Ramoth-gilead.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you put on your robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.

Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Do not fight with small or great, but with the king of Israel alone."

言いなさい，『王はこう言う，この者を獄屋に入れ，少しばかりのパンと水をもって彼を養い，わたしが勝利を得て歸ってくるのを待て』と」．

ミカヤは言った，「あなたがもし勝利を得て歸るならば，主はわたしによって語られなかったのです」．また彼は言った，「あなたがたすべての民よ，聞きなさい」．

こうしてイスラエルの王とユダの王ヨシャパテは，ラモテ · ギレアデに上った．

イスラエルの王はヨシャパテに言った，「わたしは姿を變えて戰いに行きましょう．しかしあなたは王の衣を着けなさい」．イスラエルの王は姿を變えて戰いに行った．

さて，スリヤの王は，その戰車隊長たちに命じて言った，「あなたがたは小さい者とも，大きい者とも戰ってはならない．ただイスラエルの王とのみ戰いなさい」．

So when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "It is the king of Israel," and they turned aside to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him, and God diverted them from him.

When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

A certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel in a joint of the armor. So he said to the driver of the chariot, "Turn around and take me out of the fight, for I am severely wounded."

The battle raged that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot in front of the Arameans until the evening; and at sunset he died.

戰車隊長らはヨシャパテを見たとき，これはきっとイスラエルの王だと思ったので，身を巡らしてこれと戰おうとした．しかしヨシャパテが呼ばわったので，主はこれを助けられた．すなわち神は敵を彼から離れさせられた．

戰車隊長らは彼がイスラエルの王でないのを見たので，彼を追うことをやめて引き返した．

しかし，ひとりの人が，なにごころなく弓を引いて，イスラエルの王の胸當と，くさずりの間を射たので，彼はその車の御者に言った，「わたしは傷を受けたから，車をめぐらして，わたしを軍中から運び出せ」．

その日戰いは激しくなった．イスラエルの王は車の中に自分をささえて立ち，夕暮までスリヤびとに向かっていたが，日の入るころになって死んだ．
