	역대하 31:1-32:33 히스기야는 전국에 있는 우상을 없애고, 성전 일을 맡은 제사장과 레위인의 직책을 회복시킨 후 보수 규정을 마련하여 그 직책을 안정시켰다. 그리고 십일조와 예물의 효과적 관리 분배로 불필요한 낭비를 방지하였다. 또한 히스기야는 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 유다를 침략했지만 하나님의 도우심으로 그들을 물리쳤다.

	히스기야의 종교 개혁(31:1-31:21)

Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah, broke the pillars in pieces, cut down the Asherim and pulled down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the sons of Israel returned to their cities, each to his possession.

And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites by their divisions, each according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.

He also appointed the king's portion of his goods for the burnt offerings, namely, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths and for the new moons and for the fixed festivals, as it is written in the law of the LORD.

Also he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might devote themselves to the law of the LORD.

As soon as the order spread, the sons of Israel provided in abundance the first fruits of grain, new wine, oil, honey and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of all.

この事がすべて終った時，そこにいたイスラエルびとは皆，ユダの町¿に出て行って，石柱を ¿き，アシラ像を切り倒し，ユダとベニヤミンの全地，およびエフライムとマナセにある高き所と祭壇とを取りこわし，ついにこれをことごとく破壞した．そしてイスラエルの人¿はおのおのその町¿，その所領に歸った．

ヒゼキヤは祭司およびレビびとの班を定め，班ごとにおのおのその勤めに從って，祭司とレビびとに §祭と酬恩祭をささげさせ，主の營の門で勤めをし，感謝をし，さんびをさせた．

また §祭のために自分の財産のうちから王の分を出した．すなわち朝夕の §祭および安息日，新月，定めの祭などの §祭のために出して，主の律法にしるされているとおりにした．

またエルサレムに住む民に，祭司とレビびとにその分を與えることを命じた．これは彼らをして主の律法に身をゆだねさせるためである．

その命令が傳わるやいなや，イスラエルの人¿は穀物，酒，油，蜜ならびに畑のもろもろの産物の初物を多くささげ，またすべての物の十分の一をおびただしく携えて來た．

The sons of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of sacred gifts which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and placed them in heaps.

In the third month they began to make the heaps, and finished them by the seventh month.

When Hezekiah and the rulers came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.

Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.

Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok said to him, "Since the contributions began to be brought into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat with plenty left over, for the LORD has blessed His people, and this great quantity is left over."

ユダの町¿に住んでいたイスラエルとユダの人¿もまた牛，羊の十分の一ならびにその神，主にささげられた奉納物を携えて來て，これを積み重ねた．

三月にこれを積み重ねることを始め，七月にこれを終った．

ヒゼキヤおよびつかさたちは來て，その積み重ねた物を見，主とその民イスラエルを祝福した．

そしてヒゼキヤがその積み重ねた物について祭司およびレビびとに問い尋ねた時，

ザドクの家から出た祭司の長アザリヤは彼に答えて言った，「民が主の宮に供え物を携えて來ることを始めてからこのかた，われわれは飽きるほど食べたが，たくさん殘りました．主がその民を惠まれたからです．それでわれわれは，このように多くの殘った物をもっているのです」．

Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them.

They faithfully brought in the contributions and the tithes and the consecrated things; and Conaniah the Levite was the officer in charge of them and his brother Shimei was second.

Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and Shimei his brother by the appointment of King Hezekiah, and Azariah was the chief officer of the house of God.

Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the eastern gate, was over the freewill offerings of God, to apportion the contributions for the LORD and the most holy things.

Under his authority were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah and Shecaniah in the cities of the priests, to distribute faithfully their portions to their brothers by divisions, whether great or small,

そこでヒゼキヤは主の宮のうちに室を設けることを命じたので，彼らはこれを設け，

その供え物の十分の一および奉納物を忠實に携え入れた．これをつかさどる者のかしらはレビびとコナニヤで，その兄弟シメイは彼に次ぐ者となり，

without regard to their genealogical enrollment, to the males from thirty years old and upward--everyone who entered the house of the LORD for his daily obligations--for their work in their duties according to their divisions;

as well as the priests who were enrolled genealogically according to their fathers' households, and the Levites from twenty years old and upwards, by their duties and their divisions.

The genealogical enrollment included all their little children, their wives, their sons and their daughters, for the whole assembly, for they consecrated themselves faithfully in holiness.

Also for the sons of Aaron the priests who were in the pasture lands of their cities, or in each and every city, there were men who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to everyone genealogically enrolled among the Levites.

Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah; and he did what was good, right and true before the LORD his God.

ただしすべて登錄された三歲以上の男子で主の宮に入り，その班に從って日¿の職分をつくし，その受持の勤めをなす者は除かれた．

祭司の登錄はその氏族によってなされ，二十歲以上のレビびとの登錄はその班により，その受持にしたがってなされた．

また祭司はその幼な子，その妻，そのむすこ，その娘，全會衆と共に登錄した．彼らは忠實に身を聖なる事にささげたからである．

また町¿の放牧地におるアロンの子孫である祭司たちのためには，町ごとに人を名ざし選んで，祭司のうちのすべての男およびレビびとのうちの登錄されたすべての者に，その分を與えさせた．

ヒゼキヤはユダ全國にこのようにし，良い事，正しい事，忠實な事をその神，主の前に行った．

Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.

彼がその神を求めるために神の宮の務につき，律法につき，戒めについて始めたわざは，ことごとく心をつくして行い，これをなし遂げた．

	산헤립의 침략(32:1-32:33)

After these acts of faithfulness Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and besieged the fortified cities, and thought to break into them for himself.

Now when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to make war on Jerusalem,

he decided with his officers and his warriors to cut off the supply of water from the springs which were outside the city, and they helped him.

So many people assembled and stopped up all the springs and the stream which flowed through the region, saying, "Why should the kings of Assyria come and find abundant water?"

And he took courage and rebuilt all the wall that had been broken down and erected towers on it, and built another outside wall and strengthened the Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in great number.

ヒゼキヤがこれらの事を忠實に行った後，アッスリヤの王セナケリブが來てユダに侵入し，堅固な町¿に向かって陣を張り，これを攻め取ろうとした．

ヒゼキヤはセナケリブが來て，エルサレムを攻めようとするのを見たので，

そのつかさたちおよび勇士たちと相談して，町の外にある泉の水を，ふさごうとした．彼らはこれを助けた．

多くの民は集まって，すべての泉および國の中を流れる谷川をふさいで言った，「アッスリヤの王たちがきて，多くの水を得られるようなことをしておいていいだろうか」．

He appointed military officers over the people and gathered them to him in the square at the city gate, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

"Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of all the horde that is with him; for the one with us is greater than the one with him.

"With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles." And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

After this Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem while he was besieging Lachish with all his forces with him, against Hezekiah king of Judah and against all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,

"Thus says Sennacherib king of Assyria, 'On what are you trusting that you are remaining in Jerusalem under siege?

軍長を民の上に置き，町の門の廣場に民を集めて，これを勵まして言った，

「心を强くし，勇みたちなさい．アッスリヤの王をも，彼と共にいるすべての群衆をも恐れてはならない．おののいてはならない．われわれと共におる者は彼らと共におる者よりも大いなる者だからである．

彼と共におる者は肉の腕である．しかしわれわれと共におる者はわれわれの神，主であって，われわれを助け，われわれに代って戰われる」．民はユダの王ヒゼキヤの言葉に安心した．

この後アッスリヤの王セナケリブはその全軍をもってラキシを圍んでいたが，その家來をエルサレムにつかわして，ユダの王ヒゼキヤおよびエルサレムにいるすべてのユダの人に告げさせて言った，

「アッスリヤの王セナケリブはこう言います，『あなたがたは何を賴んでエルサレムにこもっているのか．

'Is not Hezekiah misleading you to give yourselves over to die by hunger and by thirst, saying, "The LORD our God will deliver us from the hand of the king of Assyria"?

'Has not the same Hezekiah taken away His high places and His altars, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, "You shall worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn incense"?

'Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands able at all to deliver their land from my hand?

'Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed who could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you from my hand?

'Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you like this, and do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?'"

ヒゼキヤは「われわれの神，主がアッスリヤの王の手から，われわれを救ってくださる」と言って，あなたがたをそそのかし，飢えと，かわきをもって，あなたがたを死なせようとしているのではないか．

このヒゼキヤは主のもろもろの高き所と祭壇を取り除き，ユダとエルサレムに命じて，「あなたがたはただ一つの祭壇の前で禮拜し，その上に ¿牲をささげなければならない」と言った者ではないか．

あなたがたは，わたしおよびわたしの先祖たちが，他の國¿のすべての民にしたことを知らないのか．それらの國¿の民の神¿は，少しでもその國を，わたしの手から救い出すことができたか．

わたしの先祖たちが滅ぼし盡したそれらの國民のもろもろの神のうち，だれか自分の民をわたしの手から救い出すことのできたものがあるか．それで，どうしてあなたがたの神が，あなたがたをわたしの手から救い出すことができよう．

それゆえ，あなたがたはヒゼキヤに欺かれてはならない．そそのかされてはならない．また彼を信じてはならない．いずれの民，いずれの國の神もその民をわたしの手，または，わたしの先祖の手から救いだすことができなかったのだから，ましてあなたがたの神が，どうしてわたしの手からあなたがたを救いだすことができようか』」．

His servants spoke further against the LORD God and against His servant Hezekiah.

He also wrote letters to insult the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, "As the gods of the nations of the lands have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah will not deliver His people from my hand."

They called this out with a loud voice in the language of Judah to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten and terrify them, so that they might take the city.

They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, the work of men's hands.

But King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed about this and cried out to heaven.

セナケリブの家來は，このほかにも多く主なる神，およびそのしもべヒゼキヤをそしった．

セナケリブはまた手紙を書き送って，イスラエルの神，主をあざけり，かつそしって言った，「諸國の民の神¿が，その民をわたしの手から救い出さなかったように，ヒゼキヤの神も，その民をわたしの手から救い出さないであろう」と．

そして彼らは大聲をあげ，ユダヤの言葉をもって，城壁の上にいるエルサレムの民に向かって叫び，これをおどし，かつおびやかした．彼らは町を取るためである．

このように彼らがエルサレムの神について語ること，人の手のわざである地上の民の神¿について語るようであった．

そこでヒゼキヤ王およびアモツの子預言者イザヤは共に祈って，天に呼ばわったので，

And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned in shame to his own land. And when he had entered the temple of his god, some of his own children killed him there with the sword.

So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

And many were bringing gifts to the LORD at Jerusalem and choice presents to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations thereafter.

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill; and he prayed to the LORD, and the LORD spoke to him and gave him a sign.

But Hezekiah gave no return for the benefit he received, because his heart was proud; therefore wrath came on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.

主はひとりのみ使をつかわして，アッスリヤ王の陣營にいるすべての大勇士と將官，軍長らを滅ぼされた．それで王は赤面して自分の國に歸ったが，その神の家にはいった時，その子のひとりが，つるぎをもって彼をその所で殺した．

このように主は，ヒゼキヤとエルサレムの住民をアッスリヤの王セナケリブの手およびすべての敵の手から救い出し，いたる所で彼らを守られた．

そこで多くの人¿はささげ物をエルサレムに携えてきて主にささげ，また寶物をユダの王ヒゼキヤに贈った．この後ヒゼキヤは万國の民に尊ばれた．

そのころ，ヒゼキヤは病んで死ぬばかりであったが，主に祈ったので，主はこれに答えて，しるしを賜わった．

しかしヒゼキヤはその受けた惠みに報いることをせず，その心が高ぶったので，怒りが彼とユダおよびエルサレムに臨もうとしたが，

However, Hezekiah humbled the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.

Now Hezekiah had immense riches and honor; and he made for himself treasuries for silver, gold, precious stones, spices, shields and all kinds of valuable articles,

storehouses also for the produce of grain, wine and oil, pens for all kinds of cattle and sheepfolds for the flocks.

He made cities for himself and acquired flocks and herds in abundance, for God had given him very great wealth.

It was Hezekiah who stopped the upper outlet of the waters of Gihon and directed them to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all that he did.

ヒゼキヤはその心の高ぶりを悔いてへりくだり，またエルサレムの住民も同樣にしたので，主の怒りは，ヒゼキヤの世には彼らに臨まなかった．

ヒゼキヤは富と榮譽をきわめ，寶藏を造って，金，銀，寶石，香料，盾および各種の尊い器物をおさめ，

また倉庫を造って穀物，酒，油などの産物をおさめ，小屋を造って種¿の家畜を置き，おりを造って羊の群れを置き，

また多數の町を設け，かつ羊と牛をおびただしく所有した．神が非常に多くの貨財を彼に賜わったからである．

このヒゼキヤはまたギホンの水の上の源をふさいで，これをダビデの町の西の方にまっすぐに引き下した．このようにヒゼキヤはそのすべてのわざをなし遂げた．

Even in the matter of the envoys of the rulers of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone only to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.

Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his deeds of devotion, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

So Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the upper section of the tombs of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. And his son Manasseh became king in his place.

しかしバビロンの君たちが使者をつかわして，この國にあった，しるしについて尋ねさせた時には，神は彼を試みて，彼の心にあることを，ことごとく知るために彼を捨て置かれた．

ヒゼキヤのその他の行爲およびその德行は，アモツの子預言者イザヤの默示とユダとイスラエルの列王の書にしるされている．

ヒゼキヤはその先祖たちと共に眠ったので，ダビデの子孫の墓のうちの高い所に葬られた．ユダの人¿およびエルサレムの住民は皆その死に當って彼に敬意を表した．その子マナセが彼に代って王となった．
