- The woman of folly is boisterous, She is naive and knows nothing.
- She sits at the doorway of her house, On a seat by the high places of the city,
- Calling to those who pass by, Who are making their paths straight:
- "Whoever is naive, let him turn in here," And to him who lacks understanding she says,
- "Stolen water is sweet; And bread eaten in secret is pleasant."

- 愚かな 女は， ¿がしく， みだらで， 恥を 知らない．
- 彼女はその 家の 戶口に 座し， 町の 高い 所にある 座にすわり，
- 道を 急ぐ 行き 來の 人を 招いて 言う，
- 「思慮のない 者よ， ここに 來れ 」と． また 知惠のない 人に 向かってこれに 言う，
- 「盜んだ 水は 甘く， ひそかに 食べる パン はうまい 」と．
