야고보서 2:14-3:18

 야고보는 믿음이란 생활 속에서 실천하는 것이므로 행함은 믿음의 열매와 같다고 지적하였고, 혀를 잘 다스리는 자가 온전한 자라고 말하였으며, 하나님의 선물인 참지혜는 선하고 온전하다고 가르쳤다.
  
  믿음과 실천(2:14-2:26)    
 
  1. What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?
  2. If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,
  3. and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
  4. Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
  5. But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works."
  1. わたしの 兄弟たちよ． ある 人が 自分には 信仰があると 稱していても， もし 行いがなかったら， なんの 役に 立つか． その 信仰は 彼を 救うことができるか．
  2. ある 兄弟または 姉妹が 裸でいて， その 日の 食物にもこと 欠いている 場合，
  3. あなたがたのうち， だれかが， 「安らかに 行きなさい． 暖まって， 食べ 飽きなさい 」と 言うだけで， そのからだに 必要なものを 何ひとつ 與えなかったとしたら， なんの 役に 立つか．
  4. 信仰も， それと 同樣に， 行いを 伴わなければ， それだけでは 死んだものである．
  5. しかし， 「ある 人には 信仰があり， またほかの 人には 行いがある 」と 言う 者があろう． それなら， 行いのないあなたの 信仰なるものを 見せてほしい． そうしたら， わたしの 行いによって 信仰を 見せてあげよう．
  1. You believe that God is one You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
  2. But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?
  3. Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
  4. You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;
  5. and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God.
  1. あなたは， 神はただひとりであると 信じているのか． それは 結構である． 惡靈どもでさえ， 信じておののいている．
  2. ああ， 愚かな 人よ． 行いを 伴わない 信仰のむなしいことを 知りたいのか．
  3. わたしたちの 父祖 アブラハム は， その 子 イサク を 祭壇にささげた 時， 行いによって 義とされたのではなかったか．
  4. あなたが 知っているとおり， 彼においては， 信仰が 行いと 共に ¿き， その 行いによって 信仰が 全うされ，
  5. こうして， 「アブラハム は 神を 信じた． それによって， 彼は 義と 認められた 」という 聖書の 言葉が 成就し， そして， 彼は「神の 友 」と 唱えられたのである．
  1. You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.
  2. In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
  3. For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
  1. これでわかるように， 人が 義とされるのは， 行いによるのであって， 信仰だけによるのではない．
  2. 同じように， かの 遊女 ラハブ でさえも， 使者たちをもてなし， 彼らを 別な 道から 送り 出した 時， 行いによって 義とされたではないか．
  3. 靈魂のないからだが 死んだものであると 同樣に， 行いのない 信仰も 死んだものなのである．
 
  혀의 위험성(3:1-3:12)    
 
  1. Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.
  2. For we all stumble in many ways If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.
  3. Now if we put the bits into the horses' mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their entire body as well.
  4. Look at the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot desires.
  5. So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!
  1. わたしの 兄弟たちよ． あなたがたのうち 多くの 者は， 敎師にならないがよい． わたしたち 敎師が， 他の 人たちよりも， もっときびしいさばきを 受けることが， よくわかっているからである．
  2. わたしたちは 皆， 多くのあやまちを 犯すものである． もし， 言葉の 上であやまちのない 人があれば， そういう 人は， 全身をも 制御することのできる 完全な 人である．
  3. 馬を 御するために， その 口にくつわをはめるなら， その 全身を 引きまわすことができる．
  4. また 船を 見るがよい． 船體が 非常に 大きく， また 激しい 風に 吹きまくられても， ごく 小さなかじ 一つで， 操縱者の 思いのままに 運轉される．
  5. それと 同じく， 舌は 小さな 器官ではあるが， よく 大言壯語する． 見よ， ごく 小さな 火でも， 非常に 大きな 森を 燃やすではないか．
  1. And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.
  2. For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race.
  3. But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.
  4. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God;
  5. from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.
  1. 舌は 火である． 不義の 世界である． 舌は， わたしたちの 器官の 一つとしてそなえられたものであるが， 全身を 汚し， 生存の 車輪を 燃やし， 自らは 地獄の 火で 燒かれる．
  2. あらゆる 種類の ¿， 鳥， 這うもの， 海の 生物は， すべて 人類に 制せられるし， また 制せられてきた．
  3. ところが， 舌を 制しうる 人は， ひとりもいない． それは， 制しにくい 惡であって， 死の 毒に 滿ちている．
  4. わたしたちは， この 舌で 父なる 主をさんびし， また， その 同じ 舌で， 神にかたどって 造られた 人間をのろっている．
  5. 同じ 口から， さんびとのろいとが 出て 來る． わたしの 兄弟たちよ． このような 事は， あるべきでない．
  1. Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water?
  2. Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.
  1. 泉が， 甘い 水と 苦い 水とを， 同じ 穴からふき 出すことがあろうか．
  2. わたしの 兄弟たちよ． いちじくの 木が オリブ の 實を 結び， ぶどうの 木がいちじくの 實を 結ぶことができようか． 鹽水も， 甘い 水を 出すことはできない．
 
  참된 지혜(3:13-3:18)    
 
  1. Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
  2. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.
  3. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
  4. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
  5. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
  1. あなたがたのうちで， 知惠があり 物わかりのよい 人は， だれであるか． その 人は， 知惠にかなう 柔和な 行いをしていることを， よい 生活によって 示すがよい．
  2. しかし， もしあなたがたの 心の 中に， 苦¿しいねたみや 黨派心をいだいているのなら， 誇り 高ぶってはならない． また， 眞理にそむいて 僞ってはならない．
  3. そのような 知惠は， 上から 下ってきたものではなくて， 地につくもの， 肉に 屬するもの， 惡魔的なものである．
  4. ねたみと 黨派心とのあるところには， 混亂とあらゆる 忌むべき 行爲とがある．
  5. しかし 上からの 知惠は， 第一に 淸く， 次に 平和， 寬容， 溫順であり， あわれみと 良い 實とに 滿ち， かたより 見ず， 僞りがない．
  1. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
  1. 義の 實は， 平和を 造り 出す 人たちによって， 平和のうちにまかれるものである．
