- Pilate summoned the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
- and said to them, "You brought this man to me as one who incites the people to rebellion, and behold, having examined Him before you, I have found no guilt in this man regarding the charges which you make against Him.
- "No, nor has Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothing deserving death has been done by Him.
- "Therefore I will punish Him and release Him."
- [Now he was obliged to release to them at the feast one prisoner.]

- ピラト は， 祭司長たちと 議員たちと 民衆とを 呼び 集めて，
- 言った． 「あなたたちは， この 男を 民衆を 惑わす 者としてわたしのところに 連れて 來た． わたしはあなたたちの 前で 取り 調べたが， 訴えているような 犯罪はこの 男には 何も 見つからなかった．
- ヘロデ とても 同じであった． それで， 我¿のもとに 送り 返してきたのだが， この 男は 死刑に 當たるようなことは 何もしていない．
- だから， 鞭で 懲らしめて 釋放しよう． 」
- ＊祭りの 度ごとに， ピラト は， 囚人を 一人彼らに 釋放してやらなければならなかった．

- But they cried out all together, saying, "Away with this man, and release for us Barabbas!"
- (He was one who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection made in the city, and for murder.)
- Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again,
- but they kept on calling out, saying, "Crucify, crucify Him!"
- And he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has this man done? I have found in Him no guilt demanding death; therefore I will punish Him and release Him."

- しかし， 人¿は 一齊に， 「その 男を 殺せ． バラバ を 釋放しろ 」と 叫んだ．
- この バラバ は， 都に 起こった 暴動と 殺人のかどで 投獄されていたのである．
- ピラト は イエス を 釋放しようと 思って， 改めて 呼びかけた．
- しかし 人¿は， 「十字架につけろ， 十字架につけろ 」と 叫び 續けた．
- ピラト は 三度目に 言った． 「いったい， どんな 惡事を ¿いたと 言うのか． この 男には 死刑に 當たる 犯罪は 何も 見つからなかった． だから， 鞭で 懲らしめて 釋放しよう． 」

- But they were insistent, with loud voices asking that He be crucified. And their voices began to prevail.
- And Pilate pronounced sentence that their demand be granted.
- And he released the man they were asking for who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, but he delivered Jesus to their will.
- When they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, coming in from the country, and placed on him the cross to carry behind Jesus.
- And following Him was a large crowd of the people, and of women who were mourning and lamenting Him.

- ところが 人¿は， イエス を 十字架につけるようにあくまでも 大聲で 要求し 續けた． その 聲はますます 强くなった．
- そこで， ピラト は 彼らの 要求をいれる 決定を 下した．
- そして， 暴動と 殺人のかどで 投獄されていた バラバ を 要求どおりに 釋放し， イエス の 方は 彼らに 引き 渡して， 好きなようにさせた．
- 人¿は イエス を 引いて 行く 途中， 田舍から 出て 來た シモン という キレネ 人を 捕まえて， 十字架を 背負わせ， イエス の 後ろから 運ばせた．
- 民衆と 嘆き 悲しむ 婦人たちが 大きな 群れを 成して， イエス に 從った．

- But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
- "For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.'
- "Then they will begin TO SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS, 'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, 'COVER US.'
- "For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"
- Two others also, who were criminals, were being led away to be put to death with Him.

- イエス は 婦人たちの 方を 振り 向いて 言われた． 「エルサレム の 娘たち， わたしのために 泣くな． むしろ， 自分と 自分の 子供たちのために 泣け．
- 人¿が， 『子を 産めない 女， 産んだことのない 胎， 乳を 飮ませたことのない 乳房は 幸いだ 』と 言う 日が 來る．
- そのとき， 人¿は 山に 向かっては， ／『我¿の 上に 崩れ 落ちてくれ 』と 言い， ／丘に 向かっては， ／『我¿を 覆ってくれ 』と 言い 始める．
- 『生の 木 』さえこうされるのなら， 『枯れた 木 』はいったいどうなるのだろうか． 」
- ほかにも， 二人の 犯罪人が， イエス と 一緖に 死刑にされるために， 引かれて 行った．

- When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
- But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing " And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.
- And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One."
- The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,
- and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!"

- 「されこうべ 」と 呼ばれている 所に 來ると， そこで 人¿は イエス を 十字架につけた． 犯罪人も， 一人は 右に 一人は 左に， 十字架につけた．
- 〔そのとき， イエス は 言われた． 「父よ， 彼らをお 赦しください． 自分が 何をしているのか 知らないのです． 」〕人¿はくじを 引いて， イエス の 服を 分け 合った．
- 民衆は 立って 見つめていた． 議員たちも， あざ 笑って 言った． 「他人を 救ったのだ． もし 神からの メシア で， 選ばれた 者なら， 自分を 救うがよい． 」
- 兵士たちも イエス に 近寄り， 酸いぶどう 酒を 突きつけながら 侮辱して，
- 言った． 「お 前が ユダヤ 人の 王なら， 自分を 救ってみろ． 」

- Now there was also an inscription above Him, "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS."
- One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!"
- But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
- "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
- And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!"

- イエス の 頭の 上には， 「これは ユダヤ 人の 王 」と 書いた 札も 揭げてあった．
- 十字架にかけられていた 犯罪人の 一人が， イエス をののしった． 「お 前は メシア ではないか． 自分自身と 我¿を 救ってみろ． 」
- すると， もう 一人の 方がたしなめた． 「お 前は 神をも 恐れないのか， 同じ 刑罰を 受けているのに．
- 我¿は， 自分のやったことの 報いを 受けているのだから， 當然だ． しかし， この 方は 何も 惡いことをしていない． 」
- そして， 「イエス よ， あなたの 御國においでになるときには， わたしを 思い 出してください 」と 言った．

- And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

- すると イエス は， 「はっきり 言っておくが， あなたは 今日わたしと 一緖に 樂園にいる 」と 言われた．
