	사사기 12:1-14:20 에브라임 지파가 입다의 승리에 대해 시비하자 입다는 그들을 크게 도륙했다. 그를 이어 입산, 엘론, 압돈이 사사로 세움받았다. 이스라엘이 다시 범죄하자 하나님께서 그들을 블레셋의 손에 붙여 고통당하게 하셨다. 이러한 때에, 잉태하지 못하던 마노아의 아내가 야웨의 사자로부터 아들을 낳으리라는 말을 듣고 삼손을 낳았다. 태어날 때부터 나실인이었던 삼손은 블레셋 여인을 사랑하여 그녀와 결혼하였으나 친구에게 빼앗기고 말았다.

	입다와 에브라임의 전쟁(12:1-12:15)

Then the men of Ephraim were summoned, and they crossed to Zaphon and said to Jephthah, "Why did you cross over to fight against the sons of Ammon without calling us to go with you? We will burn your house down on you."

Jephthah said to them, "I and my people were at great strife with the sons of Ammon; when I called you, you did not deliver me from their hand.

"When I saw that you would not deliver me, I took my life in my hands and crossed over against the sons of Ammon, and the LORD gave them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me this day to fight against me?"

Then Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and fought Ephraim; and the men of Gilead defeated Ephraim, because they said, "You are fugitives of Ephraim, O Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasseh."

The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan opposite Ephraim. And it happened when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, "Let me cross over," the men of Gilead would say to him, "Are you an Ephraimite?" If he said, "No,"

エフライム人が勢ぞろいして，ツァフォンに赴き，エフタに言った．「アンモン人との戰いに出向いたとき，なぜあなたは，わたしたちに同行を呼びかけなかったのか．あなたの家をあなたもろとも燒き拂ってやる．」

エフタはそこでギレアドの人をすべて集めて，エフライムと戰い，ギレアドの人はエフライムを擊ち破った．エフライムが，「あなたたちはエフライムを逃げ出した者．ギレアドはエフライムの中，マナセの中にいるはずだ」と言ったからである．

then they would say to him, "Say now, 'Shibboleth.'" But he said, "Sibboleth," for he could not pronounce it correctly. Then they seized him and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. Thus there fell at that time 42,000 of Ephraim.

Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

Now Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel after him.

He had thirty sons, and thirty daughters whom he gave in marriage outside the family, and he brought in thirty daughters from outside for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

Then Ibzan died and was buried in Bethlehem.

Now Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel after him; and he judged Israel ten years.

Then Elon the Zebulunite died and was buried at Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.

Now Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel after him.

He had forty sons and thirty grandsons who rode on seventy donkeys; and he judged Israel eight years.

Then Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died and was buried at Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.

Now the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, so that the LORD gave them into the hands of the Philistines forty years.

There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren and had borne no children.

Then the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, "Behold now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and give birth to a son.

"Now therefore, be careful not to drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing.

"For behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and no razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines."

イスラエルの人¿は，またも主の目に惡とされることを行ったので，主は彼らを四十年間，ペリシテ人の手に渡された．

その名をマノアという一人の男がいた．彼はダンの氏族に屬し，ツォルアの出身であった．彼の妻は不妊の女で，子を産んだことがなかった．

主の御使いが彼女に現れて言った．「あなたは不妊の女で，子を産んだことがない．だが，身ごもって男の子を産むであろう．

今後，ぶどう酒や强い飮み物を飮まず，汚れた物も一切食べないように氣をつけよ．

あなたは身ごもって男の子を産む．その子は胎內にいるときから，ナジル人として神にささげられているので，その子の頭にかみそりを當ててはならない．彼は，ペリシテ人の手からイスラエルを解き放つ救いの先驅者となろう．」

Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, "A man of God came to me and his appearance was like the appearance of the angel of God, very awesome. And I did not ask him where he came from, nor did he tell me his name.

"But he said to me, 'Behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and now you shall not drink wine or strong drink nor eat any unclean thing, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.'"

Then Manoah entreated the LORD and said, "O Lord, please let the man of God whom You have sent come to us again that he may teach us what to do for the boy who is to be born."

God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she was sitting in the field, but Manoah her husband was not with her.

So the woman ran quickly and told her husband, "Behold, the man who came the other day has appeared to me."

女は夫のもとに來て言った．「神の人がわたしのところにおいでになりました．姿は神の御使いのようで，非常に恐ろしく，どこからおいでになったのかと尋ねることもできず，その方も名前を明かされませんでした．

ただその方は，わたしが身ごもって男の子を産むことになっており，その子は胎內にいるときから死ぬ日までナジル人として神にささげられているので，わたしにぶどう酒や强い飮み物を飮まず，汚／れた物も一切食べないようにとおっしゃいました．」

そこでマノアは，主に向かってこう祈った．「わたしの主よ．お願いいたします．お遣わしになった神の人をもう一度わたしたちのところに來させ，生まれて來る子をどうすればよいのか敎えてください．」

神はマノアの聲をお聞き入れになり，神の御使いが，再びその妻のところに現れた．彼女は畑に座っていて，夫マノアは一緖にいなかった．

妻は急いで夫に知らせようとして走り，「この間わたしのところにおいでになった方が，またお見えになっています」と言った．

Then Manoah arose and followed his wife, and when he came to the man he said to him, "Are you the man who spoke to the woman?" And he said, "I am."

Manoah said, "Now when your words come to pass, what shall be the boy's mode of life and his vocation?"

So the angel of the LORD said to Manoah, "Let the woman pay attention to all that I said.

"She should not eat anything that comes from the vine nor drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; let her observe all that I commanded."

Then Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, "Please let us detain you so that we may prepare a young goat for you."

マノアは立ち上がって妻について行き，その人のところに來て言った．「この女に話しかけたのはあなたですか．」その人は，「そうです」と答えた．

マノアが，「あなたのお言葉のとおりになるのでしたら，その子のためになすべき決まりとは何でしょうか」と尋ねると，

The angel of the LORD said to Manoah, "Though you detain me, I will not eat your food, but if you prepare a burnt offering, then offer it to the LORD." For Manoah did not know that he was the angel of the LORD.

Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, "What is your name, so that when your words come to pass, we may honor you?"

But the angel of the LORD said to him, "Why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?"

So Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering and offered it on the rock to the LORD, and He performed wonders while Manoah and his wife looked on.

For it came about when the flame went up from the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground.

主の御使いはマノアに答えた．「あなたが引き止めても，わたしはあなたの食べ物を食べない．もし燒き盡くす獻げ物をささげたいなら，主にささげなさい．」マノアは，その人が主の御使いであることを知らなかった．

そこでマノアは主の御使いに，「お名前は何とおっしゃいますか．お言葉のとおりになりましたなら，あなたをおもてなししたいのです」と言った．

主の御使いは，「なぜわたしの名を尋ねるのか．それは不思議と言う」と答えた．

Now the angel of the LORD did not appear to Manoah or his wife again. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of the LORD.

So Manoah said to his wife, "We will surely die, for we have seen God."

But his wife said to him, "If the LORD had desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, nor would He have shown us all these things, nor would He have let us hear things like this at this time."

Then the woman gave birth to a son and named him Samson; and the child grew up and the LORD blessed him.

And the Spirit of the LORD began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

主の御使いは再びマノアとその妻に現れることがなかった．マノアはそのとき，この方が主の御使いであったことを知った．

マノアは妻に，「わたしたちは神を見てしまったから，死なねばなるまい」と言った．

だが妻は，「もし主がわたしたちを死なせようとお望みなら，わたしたちの手から燒き盡くす獻げ物と穀物の獻げ物をお受け取りにならなかったはずです．このようなことを一切お見せにならず，今こうした事をお告げにもならなかったはずです」と答えた．

この女は男の子を産み，その名をサムソンと名付けた．子は成長し，主はその子を祝福された．

主の靈が彼を奮い立たせ始めたのは，彼がツォルアとエシュタオルの間にあるマハネ · ダンにいたときのことであった．

	블레셋 여인과의 결혼(14:1-14:20)

Then Samson went down to Timnah and saw a woman in Timnah, one of the daughters of the Philistines.

So he came back and told his father and mother, "I saw a woman in Timnah, one of the daughters of the Philistines; now therefore, get her for me as a wife."

Then his father and his mother said to him, "Is there no woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?" But Samson said to his father, "Get her for me, for she looks good to me."

However, his father and mother did not know that it was of the LORD, for He was seeking an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines were ruling over Israel.

Then Samson went down to Timnah with his father and mother, and came as far as the vineyards of Timnah; and behold, a young lion came roaring toward him.

サムソンはティムナに下って行ったが，そのティムナで一人の女，ペリシテ人の娘に目をひかれた．

彼は父母のところに上って行って，「ティムナで，一人の女，ペリシテ人の娘に目をひかれました．どうか彼女をわたしの妻に迎えてください」と言った．

父母にはこれが主の御計畵であり，主がペリシテ人に手がかりを求めておられることが分からなかった．當時，ペリシテ人がイスラエルを支配していた．

サムソンは父母と共に，ティムナに向けて下って行った．ティムナのぶどう畑まで來たところ，一頭の若い獅子がほえながら向かって來た．

The Spirit of the LORD came upon him mightily, so that he tore him as one tears a young goat though he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

So he went down and talked to the woman; and she looked good to Samson.

When he returned later to take her, he turned aside to look at the carcass of the lion; and behold, a swarm of bees and honey were in the body of the lion.

So he scraped the honey into his hands and went on, eating as he went. When he came to his father and mother, he gave some to them and they ate it; but he did not tell them that he had scraped the honey out of the body of the lion.

Then his father went down to the woman; and Samson made a feast there, for the young men customarily did this.

そのとき主の靈が激しく彼に降ったので，彼は手に何も持たなくても，子山羊を裂くように獅子を裂いた．しかし，彼は自分の行ったことを父母には言わなかった．

彼は，女のところに下って行って言葉をかけた．サムソンは彼女が好きであった．

しばらくして彼は彼女を迎えに戾って行ったが，あの獅子の屍を見ようと脇道にそれたところ，獅子の死骸には蜜蜂の群れがいて，蜜があった．

When they saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him.

Then Samson said to them, "Let me now propound a riddle to you; if you will indeed tell it to me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen wraps and thirty changes of clothes.

"But if you are unable to tell me, then you shall give me thirty linen wraps and thirty changes of clothes." And they said to him, "Propound your riddle, that we may hear it."

So he said to them, "Out of the eater came something to eat, And out of the strong came something sweet." But they could not tell the riddle in three days.

Then it came about on the fourth day that they said to Samson's wife, "Entice your husband, so that he will tell us the riddle, or we will burn you and your father's house with fire. Have you invited us to impoverish us? Is this not so?"

サムソンを見て，人¿は三十人の客を連れて來てサムソンと同席させた．

サムソンは彼らに言った．「あなたたちになぞをかけたい．宴會の續く七日の間にその意味を解き明かし，言い當てるなら，わたしは麻の衣三十着，着替えの衣三十着を差し上げる．

もし解き明かせなかったなら，あなたたちが麻の衣三十着と，着替えの衣三十着を差し出すことにしよう．」彼らは，「なぞをかけてもらおう．聞こうではないか」と應じた．

サムソンは言った．「食べる者から食べ物が出た．强いものから甘いものが出た．」彼らは三日たっても，このなぞが解けなかった．

七日目になって，彼らはサムソンの妻に言った．「夫をうまく言いくるめて，あのなぞの意味を我¿に明かすようにしてほしい．さもないと，火を放ってあなたを家族もろとも燒き殺してやる．まさか，我¿からはぎ取るために招待したわけではないだろう．」

Samson's wife wept before him and said, "You only hate me, and you do not love me; you have propounded a riddle to the sons of my people, and have not told it to me." And he said to her, "Behold, I have not told it to my father or mother; so should I tell you?"

However she wept before him seven days while their feast lasted. And on the seventh day he told her because she pressed him so hard. She then told the riddle to the sons of her people.

So the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, "What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion?" And he said to them, "If you had not plowed with my heifer, You would not have found out my riddle."

Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon him mightily, and he went down to Ashkelon and killed thirty of them and took their spoil and gave the changes of clothes to those who told the riddle. And his anger burned, and he went up to his father's house.

But Samson's wife was given to his companion who had been his friend.

サムソンの妻は，夫に泣きすがって言った．「あなたはただわたしを嫌うだけで，少しも愛してくださらず，わたしの同族の者にかけたなぞの意味を，このわたしにも明かそうとなさいません．」彼は答えた．「父にも母にも明かしていないのに，お前に明かすわけがないだろう．」

宴會が行われた七日間，彼女は夫に泣きすがった．彼女がしつこくせがんだので，七日目に彼は彼女に明かしてしまった．彼女は同族の者にそのなぞを明かした．

七日目のこと，日が沈む前に町の人¿は彼に言った．「蜂蜜より甘いものは何か／獅子より强いものは何か．」するとサムソンは言った．「わたしの雌牛で耕さなかったなら／わたしのなぞは解けなかっただろう．」

そのとき主の靈が激しく彼に降り，彼はアシュケロンに下って，そこで三十人を打ち殺し，彼らの衣をはぎ取って，着替えの衣としてなぞを解いた者たちに與えた．彼は怒りに燃えて自分の父の家に歸った．

サムソンの妻は，彼に付き添っていた友のものとなった．
