- I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit,
- that I have great sorrow and unceasing grief in my heart.
- For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh,
- who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons, and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the temple service and the promises,
- whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

- わたしは キリスト に 結ばれた 者として 眞實を 語り， 僞りは 言わない． わたしの 良心も 聖靈によって 證ししていることですが，
- わたしには 深い 悲しみがあり， わたしの 心には 絶え 間ない 痛みがあります．
- わたし 自身， 兄弟たち， つまり 肉による 同胞のためならば， キリスト から 離され， 神から 見捨てられた 者となってもよいとさえ 思っています．
- 彼らは イスラエル の 民です． 神の 子としての 身分， 榮光， 契約， 律法， 禮拜， 約束は 彼らのものです．
- 先祖たちも 彼らのものであり， 肉によれば キリスト も 彼らから 出られたのです． キリスト は， 万物の 上におられる， 永遠にほめたたえられる 神， ア ― メン ．

- But it is not as though the word of God has failed For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;
- nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED."
- That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.
- For this is the word of promise: "AT THIS TIME I WILL COME, AND SARAH SHALL HAVE A SON."
- And not only this, but there was Rebekah also, when she had conceived twins by one man, our father Isaac;

- ところで， 神の 言葉は 決して 效力を 失ったわけではありません． イスラエル から 出た 者が 皆， イスラエル 人ということにはならず，
- また， アブラハム の 子孫だからといって， 皆がその 子供ということにはならない． かえって， 「イサク から 生まれる 者が， あなたの 子孫と 呼ばれる． 」
- すなわち， 肉による 子供が 神の 子供なのではなく， 約束に 從って 生まれる 子供が， 子孫と 見なされるのです．
- 約束の 言葉は， 「來年の 今ごろに， わたしは 來る． そして， サラ には 男の 子が 生まれる 」というものでした．
- それだけではなく， リベカ が， 一人の 人， つまりわたしたちの 父 イサク によって 身ごもった 場合にも， 同じことが 言えます．

- for though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God's purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls,
- it was said to her, "THE OLDER WILL SERVE THE YOUNGER."
- Just as it is written, "JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED."

- -12 その 子供たちがまだ 生まれもせず， 善いことも 惡いこともしていないのに， 「兄は 弟に 仕えるであろう 」と リベカ に 告げられました． それは， 自由な 選びによる 神の 計畵が 人の 行いにはよらず， お 召しになる 方によって 進められるためでした．
