	에스겔 31:1-32:32 하나님께서는 이미 멸망한 앗수르를 레바논 백향목에 비유하여 애굽에게 앗수르의 영광과 몰락을 상기시키면서 애굽도 앗수르와 같이 될 것이라고 경고하셨다. 에스겔은 하나님의 심판으로 죽음에 이른 바로에 대하여, 또 몰락될 그 왕국의 권세에 대하여 애가를 불렀다.

	레바논 백향목의 비유(31:1-31:18)

In the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me saying,

"Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his hordes, 'Whom are you like in your greatness?

'Behold, Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon With beautiful branches and forest shade, And very high, And its top was among the clouds.

'The waters made it grow, the deep made it high. With its rivers it continually extended all around its planting place, And sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.

'Therefore its height was loftier than all the trees of the field And its boughs became many and its branches long Because of many waters as it spread them out.

第十一年の三月一日に，主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ．

「人の子よ，エジプトの王ファラオとその軍勢に向かって言いなさい．お前の偉大さは誰と比べられよう．

見よ，あなたは絲杉，レバノンの杉だ．その枝は美しく，豊かな陰をつくり／丈は高く，梢は雲間にとどいた．

水がそれを育て，淵がそれを大きくした．淵から流れる川は杉の周りを潤し／水路は野のすべての木に水を送った．

その丈は野のすべての木より高くなり／豊かに注ぐ水のゆえに／大枝は茂り，若枝は伸びた．

'All the birds of the heavens nested in its boughs, And under its branches all the beasts of the field gave birth, And all great nations lived under its shade.

'So it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; For its roots extended to many waters.

'The cedars in God's garden could not match it; The cypresses could not compare with its boughs, And the plane trees could not match its branches No tree in God's garden could compare with it in its beauty.

'I made it beautiful with the multitude of its branches, And all the trees of Eden, which were in the garden of God, were jealous of it.

'Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Because it is high in stature and has set its top among the clouds, and its heart is haughty in its loftiness,

大枝には空のすべての鳥が巢を作り／若枝の下では野のすべての ¿が子を産み／多くの國民が皆，その木陰に住んだ．

丈は高く，枝は長く伸びて美しかった．豊かな水に根をおろしていたからだ．

神の園の杉もこれに及ばず／¿の木も，その大枝に比べえず／すずかけの木もその若枝と競いえず／神の園のどの木も美しさを比べえなかった．

わたしが，多くの枝で美しく飾ったので／神の園エデンのすべての木もうらやんだ．

それゆえ，主なる神はこう言われる．彼の丈は高くされ，その梢を雲の間に伸ばしたので，心は梶り高ぶった．

therefore I will give it into the hand of a despot of the nations; he will thoroughly deal with it According to its wickedness I have driven it away.

"Alien tyrants of the nations have cut it down and left it; on the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen and its boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land And all the peoples of the earth have gone down from its shade and left it.

"On its ruin all the birds of the heavens will dwell, and all the beasts of the field will be on its fallen branches

so that all the trees by the waters may not be exalted in their stature, nor set their top among the clouds, nor their well-watered mighty ones stand erect in their height. For they have all been given over to death, to the earth beneath, among the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit."

'Thus says the Lord GOD, "On the day when it went down to Sheol I caused lamentations; I closed the deep over it and held back its rivers. And its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted away on account of it.

わたしは彼を諸國の民の最も强い者の手に渡す．その者は彼を惡行に應じて扱う．わたしは彼を追放する．

諸國の最も凶暴な民である異國人が彼を切り倒し，山¿の上に捨てる．その枝はすべての谷間に落ち，若枝は切られて地のすべての谷を埋める．地上のすべての民は，その木陰から逃げ去り，彼を捨てる．

彼の倒された幹には，空のすべての鳥が住み／若枝のもとには，野のすべての ¿がやどる．

もはや，水のほとりの木もすべて丈を高くしえず，梢を雲の間に伸ばしえず，水に潤う木も，高ぶってそびえ立つことはできない．彼らはすべて死に渡され，穴に下る人の子らと共に地の深き所へ行く．

主なる神はこう言われる．彼が陰府に下る日に，わたしは彼のゆえに淵を喪に服させ，彼を覆う．わたしが川をせき止めるので，豊かな水も干上がる．またレバノンに彼の弔いをさせるので，野のすべての木も，彼のゆえにしおれる．

"I made the nations quake at the sound of its fall when I made it go down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit; and all the well-watered trees of Eden, the choicest and best of Lebanon, were comforted in the earth beneath.

"They also went down with it to Sheol to those who were slain by the sword; and those who were its strength lived under its shade among the nations.

"To which among the trees of Eden are you thus equal in glory and greatness? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth beneath; you will lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who were slain by the sword So is Pharaoh and all his hordes!"' declares the Lord GOD."

穴に下る者と共に彼を陰府に下すとき，わたしは彼の倒れる音で諸國民を ¿り動かす．そのとき地の深き所で，エデンのすべての木も，レバノンのえり拔きの美しい木も，水に潤うすべての木も，再び慰められる．

彼らも，彼と共に陰府に，劍で倒れた者たちのところに下って行った．かつて諸國民の間で，彼の陰に宿っていた仲間たちも共に．

お前は，エデンの木のなかで，榮光と偉大さを誰と比べられたか．しかし，お前はエデンの木¿と共に地の深き所に落とされ，割禮のない者の間で，劍によって倒された者と共に住むであろう．これがファラオとそのすべての軍勢の運命である」と主なる神は言われる．

In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me saying,

"Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him, 'You compared yourself to a young lion of the nations, Yet you are like the monster in the seas; And you burst forth in your rivers And muddied the waters with your feet And fouled their rivers.'"

Thus says the Lord GOD, "Now I will spread My net over you With a company of many peoples, And they shall lift you up in My net.

"I will leave you on the land; I will cast you on the open field. And I will cause all the birds of the heavens to dwell on you, And I will satisfy the beasts of the whole earth with you.

"I will lay your flesh on the mountains And fill the valleys with your refuse.

第十二年の十二月一日に，主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ．

「人の子よ，エジプトの王ファラオに向かって嘆きの歌をうたい，彼に言いなさい．國¿の中で若獅子である者よ／お前は滅びに定められた．お前は水中のわにのようだ．川の中であばれ回り／足で水をかき混ぜ，流れを濁らせた．

主なる神はこう言われる．わたしは多くの民を集め／お前の上に網として廣げる．彼らはこの地引き網でお前を引き上げる．

わたしは，お前を大地に投げ出し／野に投げ捨てる．空のすべての鳥をお前の上にやどらせ／地上のすべての ¿にお前を／食べさせて，飽かせる．

わたしはお前の肉を山の上に捨て／お前の腐った肉で谷を滿たす．

"I will also make the land drink the discharge of your blood As far as the mountains, And the ravines will be full of you.

"And when I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud And the moon will not give its light.

"All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you And will set darkness on your land," Declares the Lord GOD.

"I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring your destruction among the nations, into lands which you have not known.

"I will make many peoples appalled at you, and their kings will be horribly afraid of you when I brandish My sword before them; and they will tremble every moment, every man for his own life, on the day of your fall."

わたしはお前の流れ出た血を／大地にのませ，山に注ぐ．お前の血で谷間も滿たされる．

お前が消えうせるとき／わたしは空を覆い，星を暗くする．また，太陽を雲で覆い，月も光を放たない．

空に輝くすべての光を／わたしはお前の上で暗くする．また，お前の地を闇で覆うと／主なる神は言われる．

わたしはお前の破滅を，お前の知らない國¿の民に知らせ，多くの民の心をいらだたせる．

わたしはお前のゆえに多くの民をぼう然とさせる．わたしが彼らの前で劍を振りかざすと，王たちもお前のゆえに毛が逆立つ．お前の倒れる日，彼らはそれぞれ命に不安を感じて絶え間なく震える．

For thus says the Lord GOD, "The sword of the king of Babylon will come upon you.

"By the swords of the mighty ones I will cause your hordes to fall; all of them are tyrants of the nations, And they will devastate the pride of Egypt, And all its hordes will be destroyed.

"I will also destroy all its cattle from beside many waters; And the foot of man will not muddy them anymore And the hoofs of beasts will not muddy them.

"Then I will make their waters settle And will cause their rivers to run like oil," Declares the Lord GOD.

"When I make the land of Egypt a desolation, And the land is destitute of that which filled it, When I smite all those who live in it, Then they shall know that I am the LORD.

まことに，主なる神はこう言われる．バビロンの王の劍がお前に臨む．

わたしは勇士たちの劍で，お前の軍勢を倒す．彼らは皆，諸國の中で最も凶暴な者だ．彼らはエジプトの誇りを踏みにじる．その軍勢も皆滅ぼされる．

わたしはすべての家畜を／豊かな水のほとりから追いやる．人の足はもはやその水を濁さず／家畜のひづめもこれを濁さない．

そのとき，わたしはその水を澄ませ／流れを油のように靜かに流れさせると／主なる神は言われる．

わたしはエジプトの地を荒廢させ／その地を滿たしているものを荒れるにまかせる．わたしがそこに住むすべての者を擊つとき／彼らは，わたしが主であることを知るようになる．

"This is a lamentation and they shall chant it. The daughters of the nations shall chant it. Over Egypt and over all her hordes they shall chant it," declares the Lord GOD.

In the twelfth year, on the fifteenth of the month, the word of the LORD came to me saying,

"Son of man, wail for the hordes of Egypt and bring it down, her and the daughters of the powerful nations, to the nether world, with those who go down to the pit;

'Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and make your bed with the uncircumcised.'

"They shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword. She is given over to the sword; they have drawn her and all her hordes away.

これは嘆きの歌．彼らは悲しんでこれを歌う．國¿の娘たちも，悲しんでこれを歌う．彼らはエジプトとそのすべての軍勢のために／悲しんでこの歌をうたう」と／主なる神は言われる．

第十二年のその月の十五日に，主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ．

「人の子よ，あなたと諸國の娘たちは／エジプトとその貴族たちのために泣き悲しめ．わたしは彼らを地の低い所に下らせる／穴に下って行く者と共に．

お前はだれよりも美しいと思っていたのか．下って行き，割禮のない者と共に橫たわれ．

彼らは劍で殺された者の間に倒れる．エジプトは劍に渡された．エジプトとその軍勢はすべて運び去られた．

"The strong among the mighty ones shall speak of him and his helpers from the midst of Sheol, 'They have gone down, they lie still, the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.'

"Assyria is there and all her company; her graves are round about her. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword,

whose graves are set in the remotest parts of the pit and her company is round about her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword, who spread terror in the land of the living.

"Elam is there and all her hordes around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised to the lower parts of the earth, who instilled their terror in the land of the living and bore their disgrace with those who went down to the pit.

"They have made a bed for her among the slain with all her hordes. Her graves are around it, they are all uncircumcised, slain by the sword (although their terror was instilled in the land of the living), and they bore their disgrace with those who go down to the pit; they were put in the midst of the slain.

陰府の中から，最も强い勇士たちが／エジプトとその同盟者たちに語る／割禮のない者，劍で殺された者たちは／下ってきてそこに橫たわる，と．

そこには，アシュルとその仲間がすべており／彼らの墓はその周りにある．彼らは皆，劍で殺され，倒れた者である．

"Nor do they lie beside the fallen heroes of the uncircumcised, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war and whose swords were laid under their heads; but the punishment for their iniquity rested on their bones, though the terror of these heroes was once in the land of the living.

"But in the midst of the uncircumcised you will be broken and lie with those slain by the sword.

"There also is Edom, its kings and all its princes, who for all their might are laid with those slain by the sword; they will lie with the uncircumcised and with those who go down to the pit.

"There also are the chiefs of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who in spite of the terror resulting from their might, in shame went down with the slain. So they lay down uncircumcised with those slain by the sword and bore their disgrace with those who go down to the pit.

そこには，メシェクとトバルと／そのすべての軍勢がいる．彼らの墓はその周圍にある．皆，割禮のない者，劍で殺された者．生ける者の地で恐れられていた．

彼らは，遠い昔に倒れた勇士たちと共に／橫たわることはない．この人¿は，武器をもって陰府に下り／劍を頭の下に，盾を骨の上に置いていた．これらの勇士は／生ける者の地で恐れられていた．

お前は割禮のない者の間に／劍で殺された者と共に／打ち ¿かれて橫たわる．

そこには，エドムがその王たちと／すべての君侯たちと共にいる．彼らは力をもっていたが／劍で殺された者と共に置かれ／割禮のない者，穴に下る者と共に橫たわる．

そこには，北のすべての君主たち／シドンのすべての人¿がいる．彼らは殺された者と共に下る．彼らはその力のゆえに恐れられていたが／辱められ，割禮のない者，劍で殺された者と／共に橫たわる．彼らは，穴に下る者と共に恥を負う．

"These Pharaoh will see, and he will be comforted for all his hordes slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his army," declares the Lord GOD.

"Though I instilled a terror of him in the land of the living, yet he will be made to lie down among the uncircumcised along with those slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his hordes," declares the Lord GOD.

ファラオは彼らを見て／失ったすべての軍勢について慰められる．ファラオも，そのすべての軍隊も劍で殺されたと／主なる神は言われる．

まことに，わたしは生ける者の地に／恐れを置いた．ファラオとそのすべての軍勢は／割禮のない者の間に／劍で殺された者と共に橫たわる」と／主なる神は言われる．
