	열왕기하 10:18-12:21 예후는 정치적 숙청에 이어 바알 숭배자들을 몰살하는 종교 개혁을 단행하였다. 한편 남유다에서는 아하시야가 살해되자 아달랴가 왕위 찬탈 음모를 펼쳐 갔다. 그러나 이러한 와중에서 구사 일생으로 목숨을 건진 요아스는 여호야다의 도움으로 왕위를 회복하여 바알 숭배를 척결하고 성전을 수리하는 등 선정을 해나갔다. 그러나 그는 말년에 하사엘의 침입시 성전 보물을 조공으로 바치는 불신앙적 모습을 보임으로써 신하들의 칼에 맞아 죽는 심판을 받았다.

	예후의 종교 개혁(10:18-10:36)

Then Jehu gathered all the people and said to them, "Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much.

"Now, summon all the prophets of Baal, all his worshipers and all his priests; let no one be missing, for I have a great sacrifice for Baal; whoever is missing shall not live." But Jehu did it in cunning, so that he might destroy the worshipers of Baal.

And Jehu said, "Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal " And they proclaimed it.

Then Jehu sent throughout Israel and all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left who did not come. And when they went into the house of Baal, the house of Baal was filled from one end to the other.

He said to the one who was in charge of the wardrobe, "Bring out garments for all the worshipers of Baal." So he brought out garments for them.

예후가 뭇 백성을 모으고 그들에게 이르되 아합은 바알을 조금 섬겼으나 예후는 많이 섬기리라

그러므로 내가 이제 큰 제사를 바알에게 드리고자 하노니 바알의 모든 선지자와 모든 섬기는 자와 모든 제사장들을 한 사람도 빠뜨리지 말고 불러 내게로 나아오게 하라 모든 오지 아니하는 자는 살려 두지 아니하리라 하니 이는 예후가 바알 섬기는 자를 멸하려 하여 계책을 씀이라

예후가 바알을 위하는 대회를 거룩히 열라 하매 드디어 공포되었더라

예후가 온 이스라엘에 사람을 두루 보냈더니 바알을 섬기는 모든 사람이 하나도 빠진 자가 없이 다 이르렀고 무리가 바알의 신당에 들어가매 바알의 신당 이쪽부터 저쪽까지 가득하였더라

예후가 예복 맡은 자에게 이르되 예복을 내다가 바알을 섬기는 모든 자에게 주라 하매 그들에게로 예복을 가져온지라

Jehu went into the house of Baal with Jehonadab the son of Rechab; and he said to the worshipers of Baal, "Search and see that there is here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but only the worshipers of Baal."

Then they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed for himself eighty men outside, and he had said, "The one who permits any of the men whom I bring into your hands to escape shall give up his life in exchange."

Then it came about, as soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the royal officers, "Go in, kill them; let none come out." And they killed them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the royal officers threw them out, and went to the inner room of the house of Baal.

They brought out the sacred pillars of the house of Baal and burned them.

They also broke down the sacred pillar of Baal and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine to this day.

예후가 레갑의 아들 여호나답과 더불어 바알의 신당에 들어가서 바알을 섬기는 자들에게 이르되 너희는 살펴보아 바알을 섬기는 자들만 여기 있게 하고 여호와의 종은 하나도 여기 너희 중에 있지 못하게 하라 하고

무리가 번제와 다른 제사를 드리려고 들어간 때에 예후가 팔십 명을 밖에 두며 이르되 내가 너희 손에 넘겨 주는 사람을 한 사람이라도 도망하게 하는 자는 자기의 생명으로 그 사람의 생명을 대신하리라 하니라

번제 드리기를 다하매 예후가 호위병과 지휘관들에게 이르되 들어가서 한 사람도 나가지 못하게 하고 죽이라 하매 호위병과 지휘관들이 칼로 그들을 죽여 밖에 던지고

바알의 신당 있는 성으로 가서 바알의 신당에서 목상들을 가져다가 불사르고

바알의 목상을 헐며 바알의 신당을 헐어서 변소를 만들었더니 오늘까지 이르니라

Thus Jehu eradicated Baal out of Israel.

However, as for the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin, from these Jehu did not depart, even the golden calves that were at Bethel and that were at Dan.

The LORD said to Jehu, "Because you have done well in executing what is right in My eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in My heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel."

But Jehu was not careful to walk in the law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, which he made Israel sin.

In those days the LORD began to cut off portions from Israel; and Hazael defeated them throughout the territory of Israel:

예후가 이와 같이 이스라엘 중에서 바알을 멸하였으나

이스라엘에게 범죄하게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄 곧 벧엘과 단에 있는 금송아지를 섬기는 죄에서는 떠나지 아니하였더라

여호와께서 예후에게 이르시되 네가 나보기에 정직한 일을 행하되 잘 행하여 내 마음에 있는 대로 아합 집에 다 행하였은즉 네 자손이 이스라엘 왕위를 이어 사대를 지내리라 하시니라

그러나 예후가 전심으로 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 율법을 지켜 행하지 아니하며 여로보암이 이스라엘에게 범하게 한 그 죄에서 떠나지 아니하였더라

이 때에 여호와께서 이스라엘에서 땅을 잘라 내기 시작하시매 하사엘이 이스라엘의 모든 영토에서 공격하되

from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites and the Reubenites and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehu and all that he did and all his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

And Jehu slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son became king in his place.

Now the time which Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

요단 동쪽 길르앗 온 땅 곧 갓 사람과 르우벤 사람과 므낫세 사람의 땅 아르논 골짜기에 있는 아로엘에서부터 길르앗과 바산까지 하였더라

예후의 남은 사적과 행한 모든 일과 업적은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

예후가 그의 조상들과 함께 자매 사마리아에 장사되고 그의 아들 여호아하스가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라

예후가 사마리아에서 이스라엘을 다스린 햇수는 스물여덟 해이더라

	아달랴의 섭정(11:1-11:21)

When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she rose and destroyed all the royal offspring.

But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king's sons who were being put to death, and placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So they hid him from Athaliah, and he was not put to death.

So he was hidden with her in the house of the LORD six years, while Athaliah was reigning over the land.

Now in the seventh year Jehoiada sent and brought the captains of hundreds of the Carites and of the guard, and brought them to him in the house of the LORD. Then he made a covenant with them and put them under oath in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son.

He commanded them, saying, "This is the thing that you shall do: one third of you, who come in on the sabbath and keep watch over the king's house

아하시야의 어머니 아달랴가 그의 아들이 죽은 것을 보고 일어나 왕의 자손을 모두 멸절하였으나

요람 왕의 딸 아하시야의 누이 여호세바가 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 왕자들이 죽임을 당하는 중에서 빼내어 그와 그의 유모를 침실에 숨겨 아달랴를 피하여 죽임을 당하지 아니하게 한지라

요아스가 그와 함께 여호와의 성전에 육 년을 숨어 있는 동안에 아달랴가 나라를 다스렸더라

일곱째 해에 여호야다가 사람을 보내 가리 사람의 백부장들과 호위병의 백부장들을 불러 데리고 여호와의 성전으로 들어가서 그들과 언약을 맺고 그들에게 여호와의 성전에서 맹세하게 한 후에 왕자를 그들에게 보이고

명령하여 이르되 너희가 행할 것이 이러하니 안식일에 들어온 너희 중 삼분의 일은 왕궁을 주의하여 지키고

(one third also shall be at the gate Sur, and one third at the gate behind the guards), shall keep watch over the house for defense.

"Two parts of you, even all who go out on the sabbath, shall also keep watch over the house of the LORD for the king.

"Then you shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes within the ranks shall be put to death. And be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in."

So the captains of hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each one of them took his men who were to come in on the sabbath, with those who were to go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

The priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and shields that had been King David's, which were in the house of the LORD.

삼분의 일은 수르 문에 있고 삼분의 일은 호위대 뒤에 있는 문에 있어서 이와 같이 왕궁을 주의하여 지키고

안식일에 나가는 너희 중 두 대는 여호와의 성전을 주의하여 지켜 왕을 호위하되

너희는 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하며 너희 대열을 침범하는 모든 자는 죽이고 왕이 출입할 때에 시위할지니라 하니

백부장들이 이에 제사장 여호야다의 모든 명령대로 행하여 각기 관할하는 바 안식일에 들어오는 자와 안식일에 나가는 자를 거느리고 제사장 여호야다에게 나아오매

제사장이 여호와의 성전에 있는 다윗 왕의 창과 방패를 백부장들에게 주니

The guards stood each with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, by the altar and by the house, around the king.

Then he brought the king's son out and put the crown on him and gave him the testimony; and they made him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and said, "Long live the king!"

When Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people in the house of the LORD.

She looked and behold, the king was standing by the pillar, according to the custom, with the captains and the trumpeters beside the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced and blew trumpets Then Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, "Treason! Treason!"

And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were appointed over the army and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks, and whoever follows her put to death with the sword." For the priest said, "Let her not be put to death in the house of the LORD."

호위병이 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하되 성전 오른쪽에서부터 왼쪽까지 제단과 성전 곁에 서고

여호야다가 왕자를 인도하여 내어 왕관을 씌우며 율법책을 주고 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼으매 무리가 박수하며 왕의 만세를 부르니라

아달랴가 호위병과 백성의 소리를 듣고 여호와의 성전에 들어가 백성에게 이르러

보매 왕이 규례대로 단 위에 섰고 장관들과 나팔수가 왕의 곁에 모셔 섰으며 온 백성이 즐거워하여 나팔을 부는지라 아달랴가 옷을 찢으며 외치되 반역이로다 반역이로다 하매

제사장 여호야다가 군대를 거느린 백부장들에게 명령하여 이르되 그를 대열 밖으로 몰아내라 그를 따르는 자는 모두 칼로 죽이라 하니 제사장의 이 말은 여호와의 성전에서는 그를 죽이지 말라 함이라

So they seized her, and when she arrived at the horses' entrance of the king's house, she was put to death there.

Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they would be the LORD'S people, also between the king and the people.

All the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces thoroughly, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

He took the captains of hundreds and the Carites and the guards and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guards to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

So all the people of the land rejoiced and the city was quiet. For they had put Athaliah to death with the sword at the king's house.

이에 그의 길을 열어 주매 그가 왕궁의 말이 다니는 길로 가다가 거기서 죽임을 당하였더라

여호야다가 왕과 백성에게 여호와와 언약을 맺어 여호와의 백성이 되게 하고 왕과 백성 사이에도 언약을 세우게 하매

온 백성이 바알의 신당으로 가서 그 신당을 허물고 그 제단들과 우상들을 철저히 깨뜨리고 그 제단 앞에서 바알의 제사장 맛단을 죽이니라 제사장이 관리들을 세워 여호와의 성전을 수직하게 하고

또 백부장들과 가리 사람과 호위병과 온 백성을 거느리고 왕을 인도하여 여호와의 성전에서 내려와 호위병의 문 길을 통하여 왕궁에 이르매 그가 왕의 왕좌에 앉으니

온 백성이 즐거워하고 온 성이 평온하더라 아달랴를 무리가 왕궁에서 칼로 죽였더라

Jehoash was seven years old when he became king.

요아스가 왕이 될 때에 나이가 칠 세였더라

	요아스의 유다 통치(12:1-12:21)

In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

Jehoash did right in the sight of the LORD all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

Only the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

Then Jehoash said to the priests, "All the money of the sacred things which is brought into the house of the LORD, in current money, both the money of each man's assessment and all the money which any man's heart prompts him to bring into the house of the LORD,

let the priests take it for themselves, each from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the damages of the house wherever any damage may be found."

예후의 제칠년에 요아스가 왕이 되어 예루살렘에서 사십 년간 통치하니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 시비아라 브엘세바 사람이더라

요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 그를 교훈하는 모든 날 동안에는 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으되

다만 산당들을 제거하지 아니하였으므로 백성이 여전히 산당에서 제사하며 분향하였더라

요아스가 제사장들에게 이르되 여호와의 성전에 거룩하게 하여 드리는 모든 은 곧 사람이 통용하는 은이나 각 사람의 몸값으로 드리는 은이나 자원하여 여호와의 성전에 드리는 모든 은을

제사장들이 각각 아는 자에게서 받아들여 성전의 어느 곳이든지 파손된 것을 보거든 그것으로 수리하라 하였으나

But it came about that in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had not repaired the damages of the house.

Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests and said to them, "Why do you not repair the damages of the house? Now therefore take no more money from your acquaintances, but pay it for the damages of the house."

So the priests agreed that they would take no more money from the people, nor repair the damages of the house.

But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid and put it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of the LORD; and the priests who guarded the threshold put in it all the money which was brought into the house of the LORD.

When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king's scribe and the high priest came up and tied it in bags and counted the money which was found in the house of the LORD.

요아스 왕 제이십삼년에 이르도록 제사장들이 성전의 파손한 데를 수리하지 아니하였는지라

요아스 왕이 대제사장 여호야다와 제사장들을 불러 이르되 너희가 어찌하여 성전의 파손한 데를 수리하지 아니하였느냐 이제부터는 너희가 아는 사람에게서 은을 받지 말고 그들이 성전의 파손한 데를 위하여 드리게 하라

제사장들이 다시는 백성에게 은을 받지도 아니하고 성전 파손한 것을 수리하지도 아니하기로 동의하니라

제사장 여호야다가 한 궤를 가져다가 그것의 뚜껑에 구멍을 뚫어 여호와의 전문 어귀 오른쪽 곧 제단 옆에 두매 여호와의 성전에 가져 오는 모든 은을 다 문을 지키는 제사장들이 그 궤에 넣더라

이에 그 궤 가운데 은이 많은 것을 보면 왕의 서기와 대제사장이 올라와서 여호와의 성전에 있는 대로 그 은을 계산하여 봉하고

They gave the money which was weighed out into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of the house of the LORD; and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on the house of the LORD;

and to the masons and the stonecutters, and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the damages to the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

But there were not made for the house of the LORD silver cups, snuffers, bowls, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver from the money which was brought into the house of the LORD;

for they gave that to those who did the work, and with it they repaired the house of the LORD.

Moreover, they did not require an accounting from the men into whose hand they gave the money to pay to those who did the work, for they dealt faithfully.

그 달아본 은을 일하는 자 곧 여호와의 성전을 맡은 자의 손에 넘기면 그들은 또 여호와의 성전을 수리하는 목수와 건축하는 자들에게 주고

또 미장이와 석수에게 주고 또 여호와의 성전 파손한 데를 수리할 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사게 하며 그 성전을 수리할 모든 물건을 위하여 쓰게 하였으되

여호와의 성전에 드린 그 은으로 그 성전의 은 대접이나 불집게나 주발이나 나팔이나 아무 금 그릇이나 은 그릇도 만들지 아니하고

그 은을 일하는 자에게 주어 그것으로 여호와의 성전을 수리하게 하였으며

또 그 은을 받아 일꾼에게 주는 사람들과 회계하지 아니하였으니 이는 그들이 성실히 일을 하였음이라

The money from the guilt offerings and the money from the sin offerings was not brought into the house of the LORD; it was for the priests.

Then Hazael king of Aram went up and fought against Gath and captured it, and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

Jehoash king of Judah took all the sacred things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own sacred things and all the gold that was found among the treasuries of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent them to Hazael king of Aram. Then he went away from Jerusalem.

Now the rest of the acts of Joash and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

His servants arose and made a conspiracy and struck down Joash at the house of Millo as he was going down to Silla.

속건제의 은과 속죄제의 은은 여호와의 성전에 드리지 아니하고 제사장에게 돌렸더라

그 때에 아람 왕 하사엘이 올라와서 가드를 쳐서 점령하고 예루살렘을 향하여 올라오고자 하므로

유다의 왕 요아스가 그의 조상들 유다 왕 여호사밧과 여호람과 아하시야가 구별하여 드린 모든 성물과 자기가 구별하여 드린 성물과 여호와의 성전 곳간과 왕궁에 있는 금을 다 가져다가 아람 왕 하사엘에게 보냈더니 하사엘이 예루살렘에서 떠나갔더라

요아스의 남은 사적과 그가 행한 모든 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

요아스의 신복들이 일어나 반역하여 실라로 내려가는 길 가의 밀로 궁에서 그를 죽였고

For Jozacar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Amaziah his son became king in his place.

그를 쳐서 죽인 신복은 시므앗의 아들 요사갈과 소멜의 아들 여호사바드였더라 그는 다윗 성에 그의 조상들과 함께 장사되고 그의 아들 아마샤가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라
