창세기 11:1-12:20

 인간들이 흩어짐을 면하고 온 땅에 이름을 내기 위하여 탑을 쌓자, 하나님께서는 언어를 혼잡케 하심으로 그들을 사방으로 흩어지게 하셨다. 하나님께서는 아브람을 부르셔서 복의 근원으로 삼으실 것을 약속하시고 지시할 땅으로 가라고 하셨다. 아브람은 이에 순종하여 가나안으로 이주하였으나 그곳에 기근이 심하게 들자 애굽으로 내려갔다. 그러나 그곳에서 더 큰 어려움을 당하였다.
  
  바벨탑 사건(11:1-11:32)    
 
  1. Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.
  2. As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.
  3. They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.
  4. Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."
  5. But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building.
  1. 온 세상이 한 가지 말을 쓰고 있었다. 물론 낱말도 같았다.
  2. 사람들은 동쪽에서 옮아 오다가 시날 지방 한 들판에 이르러 거기 자리를 잡고는
  3. 의논하였다. "어서 벽돌을 빚어 불에 단단히 구워내자." 이리하여 사람들은 돌 대신에 벽돌을 쓰고, 흙 대신에 역청을 쓰게 되었다.
  4. 또 사람들은 의논하였다. "어서 도시를 세우고 그 가운데 꼭대기가 하늘에 닿게 탑을 쌓아 우리 이름을 날려 사방으로 흩어지지 않도록 하자."
  5. 야훼께서 땅에 내려오시어 사람들이 이렇게 세운 도시와 탑을 보시고
  1. The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
  2. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."
  3. So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.
  4. That is why it was called Babel --because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
  5. This is the account of Shem. Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arphaxad.
  1. 생각하셨다. "사람들이 한 종족이라 말이 같아서 안 되겠구나. 이것은 사람들이 하려는 일의 시작에 지나지 않겠지. 앞으로 하려고만 하면 못할 일이 없겠구나.
  2. 당장 땅에 내려가서 사람들이 쓰는 말을 뒤섞어놓아 서로 알아듣지 못하게 해야겠다."
  3. 야훼께서는 사람들을 거기에서 온 땅으로 흩으셨다. 그리하여 사람들은 도시를 세우던 일을 그만두었다.
  4. 야훼께서 온 세상의 말을 거기에서 뒤섞어놓아 사람들을 온 땅에 흩으셨다고 해서 그 도시의 이름을 바벨이라고 불렀다.
  5. 셈의 후손은 다음과 같다. 셈은 홍수가 끝난 지 이 년 뒤 그의 나이 백 세가 되어 아르박삿을 낳았다.
  1. And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.
  2. When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah.
  3. And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.
  4. When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber.
  5. And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.
  1. 셈은 아르박삿을 낳은 뒤 오백 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  2. 아르박삿은 삼십오 세 되던 해에 셀라를 낳았다.
  3. 아르박삿은 셀라를 낳은 뒤 사백삼 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  4. 셀라는 삼십 세 되던 해에 에벨을 낳았다.
  5. 셀라는 에벨을 낳은 뒤 사백삼 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  1. When Eber had lived 34 years, he became the father of Peleg.
  2. And after he became the father of Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and daughters.
  3. When Peleg had lived 30 years, he became the father of Reu.
  4. And after he became the father of Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and daughters.
  5. When Reu had lived 32 years, he became the father of Serug.
  1. 에벨은 삼십사 세 되던 해에 벨렉을 낳았다.
  2. 에벨은 벨렉을 낳은 뒤 사백삼십 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  3. 벨렉은 삼십 세 되던 해에 르우를 낳았다.
  4. 벨렉은 르우를 낳은 뒤 이백구 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  5. 르우는 삼십이 세 되던 해에 스룩을 낳았다.
  1. And after he became the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons and daughters.
  2. When Serug had lived 30 years, he became the father of Nahor.
  3. And after he became the father of Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and had other sons and daughters.
  4. When Nahor had lived 29 years, he became the father of Terah.
  5. And after he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters.
  1. 르우는 스룩을 낳은 뒤 이백칠 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  2. 스룩은 삼십 세 되던 해에 나홀을 낳았다.
  3. 스룩은 나홀을 낳은 뒤 이백 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  4. 나홀은 이십구 세 되던 해에 데라를 낳았다.
  5. 나홀은 데라를 낳은 뒤 백십구 년 동안을 더 살면서 아들딸을 낳았다.
  1. After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.
  2. This is the account of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.
  3. While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth.
  4. Abram and Nahor both married. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah; she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah.
  5. Now Sarai was barren; she had no children.
  1. 데라는 칠십 세가 되기까지 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳았다.
  2. 데라의 후손은 다음과 같다. 데라는 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳았고 하란은 롯을 낳았다.
  3. 하란은 고향인 갈대아 우르에서 자기의 아버지보다 먼저 죽었다.
  4. 아브람과 나홀이 아내를 맞았는데, 아브람의 아내 이름은 사래요, 나홀의 아내는 밀가였다. 밀가는 하란의 딸로서 이스가와는 동기간이었다.
  5. 사래는 잉태를 하지 못하는 몸이었으므로 자식이 없었다.
  1. Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.
  2. Terah lived 205 years, and he died in Haran.
  1. 데라는 아들 아브람과 아들 하란에게서 난 손자 롯과, 아들 아브람의 아내인 며느리 사래를 데리고 갈대아 우르에서 가나안을 향하여 길을 떠나다가 하란에 이르러 거기에다 자리잡고 살았다.
  2. 데라는 이백오 년을 살고 하란에서 죽었다.
 
  아브람의 소명(12:1-12:20)    
 
  1. The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
  2. "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
  3. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
  4. So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.
  5. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.
  1. 야훼께서 아브람에게 말씀하셨다. "네 고향과 친척과 아비의 집을 떠나 내가 장차 보여줄 땅으로 가거라.
  2. 나는 너를 큰 민족이 되게 하리라. 너에게 복을 주어 네 이름을 떨치게 하리라. 네 이름은 남에게 복을 끼쳐주는 이름이 될 것이다.
  3. 너에게 복을 비는 사람에게는 내가 복을 내릴 것이며 너를 저주하는 사람에게는 저주를 내리리라. 세상 사람들이 네 덕을 입을 것이다."
  4. 아브람은 야훼께서 분부하신 대로 길을 떠났다. 롯도 함께 떠났다. 하란을 떠날 때, 아브람의 나이는 칠십오 세였다.
  5. 아브람은 아내 사래와 조카 롯과 하란에서 모은 재산과 거기에서 얻은 사람들을 거느리고 가나안 땅을 향하여 길을 떠나 마침내 가나안에 이르렀다.
  1. Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.
  2. The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
  3. From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.
  4. Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.
  5. Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.
  1. 아브람은 가나안 땅을 거쳐 모레의 상수리나무가 있는 세겜 성소에 이르게 되었다. 그 때 그 땅에는 가나안 사람들이 살고 있었다.
  2. 야훼께서 아브람에게 나타나시어 "내가 이 땅을 네 자손에게 주리라." 하셨다. 아브람은 야훼께서 자기에게 나타나셨던 그 자리에 제단을 쌓아 야훼께 바쳤다.
  3. 아브람은 그 곳을 떠나 베델 동쪽에 있는 산악 지대로 옮겨가서 서쪽으로는 베델이 보이고 동쪽으로는 아이가 보이는 곳에 천막을 쳤다. 아브람은 거기에 제단을 쌓아 야훼께 바치고 야훼의 이름을 불러 예배를 드렸다.
  4. 아브람은 다시 길을 떠나 네겝 쪽으로 옮겨갔다.
  5. 마침 그 지방에 흉년이 들었는데, 그 흉년이 너무나 심하여 아브람은 이집트에 몸붙여 살려고 옮겨간 일이 있었다.
  1. As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, "I know what a beautiful woman you are.
  2. When the Egyptians see you, they will say, 'This is his wife.' Then they will kill me but will let you live.
  3. Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you."
  4. When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that she was a very beautiful woman.
  5. And when Pharaoh's officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into his palace.
  1. 이집트 땅에 발을 들여놓기 전에 아브람이 아내 사래에게 당부하였다. "나는 당신이 정말 아름다운 여자라고 생각하오.
  2. 이집트인들이 당신을 보면 당신의 남편이라고 해서 나를 죽이고 당신만 살려둘 것이오.
  3. 그러니 나를 오라버니라고 부르시오. 그러면 내가 당신 덕으로 죽음을 면하고 대접도 받을 것이오."
  4. 아브람은 이집트에 들어갔다. 이집트인들이 보기에 그의 아내는 정말 아름다웠다.
  5. 이집트 왕의 신하들은 그를 보고 왕 앞에 나아가 아름다운 여인이 나타났다고 아뢰었다. 그리하여 사래는 왕궁으로 불려 들어갔다.
  1. He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, menservants and maidservants, and camels.
  2. But the LORD inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife Sarai.
  3. So Pharaoh summoned Abram. "What have you done to me?" he said. "Why didn't you tell me she was your wife?
  4. Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!"
  5. Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.
  1. 아브람은 그 덕분에 대접을 받고 남종들과 여종들, 양떼와 소떼, 암나귀와 수나귀, 그리고 낙타를 여러 마리 받았다.
  2. 그러나 왕은 아브람의 아내 사래를 불러들인 벌로 온 가족과 함께 야훼께 무서운 재앙을 받았다.
  3. 왕은 아브람을 불러 꾸짖었다. "네가 어찌하여 나에게 이런 일을 했느냐? 왜 그를 네 아내라고 하지 않았느냐?
  4. 왜 이 여자를 네 누이라고 속여 내 아내로 삼게 하였느냐? 네 아내가 여기 있으니 데리고 당장 물러가거라."
  5. 이집트 왕은 부하들에게 명하여 아브람을 그의 아내와 그의 모든 소유와 함께 내어보냈다.
