창세기 25:1-26:22

 아브라함은 175세에 죽어 막벨라 굴에 장사되었다. 리브가는 쌍동이를 낳았는데, 장자 에서는 자신의 장자권을 동생 야곱에게 팥죽 한 그릇에 팔고 말았다. 그랄에 거하는 이삭에게 하나님께서 복을 주셔서 거부가 되게 하셨다. 이를 시기하는 블레셋 사람들과의 마찰을 피하여 이삭은 브엘세바로 장막을 옮겼다.
  
  야곱과 에서의 출생(25:1-25:34)    
 
  1. Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah.
  2. She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.
  3. Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Asshurites, the Letushites and the Leummites.
  4. The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.
  5. Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.
  1. 아브라함이 다시 아내를 맞았는데 이름은 크투라라고 하였다.
  2. 그는 아브라함에게 지므란, 욕산, 므단, 미디안, 이스박, 수아를 낳아주었다.
  3. 욕산은 세바와 드단을 낳았다. 드단의 자식들에게서 아수르족, 르투스족, 르움족이 퍼졌다.
  4. 미디안의 아들들은 에바, 에벨, 하녹, 아비다, 엘다아였다. 이들이 모두 크투라의 후손들이다.
  5. 아브라함은 자기 재산을 모두 이사악에게 물려주었다.
  1. But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.
  2. Altogether, Abraham lived a hundred and seventy-five years.
  3. Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people.
  4. His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite,
  5. the field Abraham had bought from the Hittites. There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah.
  1. 아브라함은 소실들에게서 난 자식들에게도 살림 밑천을 골고루 나누어주었다. 그리고 그는 죽기 전에 그 자식들을 아들 이사악에게서 떼어 해 뜨는 동쪽으로 보내버렸다.
  2. 아브라함은 백칠십오 년을 살았다.
  3. 아브라함은 백발이 되도록 천수를 누리다가 세상을 떠났다.
  4. 아들 이사악과 이스마엘이 그를 막벨라 동굴에 안장하였다. 그 동굴은 헷 사람 소할의 아들 에브론의 밭에 있었는데, 이 밭은 마므레 동쪽에 있었다.
  5. 아브라함은 헷 사람들에게서 사들인 이 밭에 아내 사라를 안장했었는데 이제 자신이 그 옆에 눕게 된 것이다.
  1. After Abraham's death, God blessed his son Isaac, who then lived near Beer Lahai Roi.
  2. This is the account of Abraham's son Ishmael, whom Sarah's maidservant, Hagar the Egyptian, bore to Abraham.
  3. These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,
  4. Mishma, Dumah, Massa,
  5. Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.
  1. 아브라함이 죽은 뒤에 하느님께서는 그의 아들 이사악에게 복을 내리셨다. 이사악은 라하이 로이 우물이 있는 곳에 머물러 살았다.
  2. 사라의 몸종 이집트 여자 하갈이 아브라함에게 낳아준 아들 이스마엘의 후손은 아래와 같다.
  3. 이스마엘의 아들들의 이름을 태어난 차례를 따라 적으면 아래와 같다. 맏아들 느바욧, 그 아래로 케달, 아드브엘, 밉삼,
  4. 미스마, 두마, 마싸,
  5. 하닷, 데마, 여툴, 나비스, 케드마.
  1. These were the sons of Ishmael, and these are the names of the twelve tribal rulers according to their settlements and camps.
  2. Altogether, Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people.
  3. His descendants settled in the area from Havilah to Shur, near the border of Egypt, as you go toward Asshur. And they lived in hostility toward all their brothers.
  4. This is the account of Abraham's son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac,
  5. and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean.
  1. 이것이 이스마엘의 아들들의 이름이다. 이것은 그들이 모여 사는 천막촌의 이름이요, 열두 부족의 대표 이름이기도 하다.
  2. 이스마엘은 백삼십칠 년을 살고 세상을 떠났다.
  3. 이스마엘 사람들은 하윌라에서 수르에 이르는 지방에 퍼져 살았다. 수르는 이집트 동쪽 아시리아로 가는 도중에 있다. 이렇게 그들은 모든 골육의 형제들과 맞서 자리를 잡았다.
  4. 아브라함의 아들 이사악의 역사는 아래와 같다. 아브라함의 혈통을 이어 이사악이 태어났는데,
  5. 이사악이 리브가를 아내로 맞을 때 그의 나이는 사십 세였다. 리브가는 바딴아람에 사는 아람 사람 브두엘의 딸로서 아람 사람 라반의 누이였다.
  1. Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.
  2. The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.
  3. The LORD said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger."
  4. When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb.
  5. The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau.
  1. 리브가가 아기를 낳지 못하였으므로 이사악은 야훼께 아기를 갖게 해달라고 빌었다. 야훼께서 그의 기도를 들어주시어 아내 리브가가 임신하였는데,
  2. 뱃속에 든 두 아이가 서로 싸우므로 리브가는 "이렇게 괴로워서야 어디 살겠는가!" 하면서 야훼께 까닭을 물으러 나갔다.
  3. 야훼께서 리브가에게 말씀하셨다. "너의 태에는 두 민족이 들어 있다. 태에서 나오기도 전에 두 부족으로 갈라졌는데, 한 부족이 다른 부족을 억누를 것이다. 형이 동생을 섬기게 될 것이다."
  4. 달이 차서 몸을 풀고 보니 쌍둥이였다.
  5. 선둥이는 살결이 붉은데다가 온 몸이 털투성이였다. 그래서 이름을 에사오라 하였다.
  1. After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.
  2. The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was a quiet man, staying among the tents.
  3. Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
  4. Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished.
  5. He said to Jacob, "Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!" (That is why he was also called Edom. )
  1. 후둥이는 에사오의 발꿈치를 잡고 나왔다. 그래서 그의 이름을 야곱이라 했다. 리브가가 그들을 낳은 것은 이사악이 육십 세 되던 해였다.
  2. 두 아들이 자라나, 에사오는 날쌘 사냥꾼이 되어 들에서 살고, 야곱은 성질이 차분하여 천막에 머물러 살았다.
  3. 이사악은 에사오가 사냥해 오는 고기에 맛을 들여 에사오를 더 사랑하였고 리브가는 야곱을 더 사랑하였다.
  4. 하루는 에사오가 허기져 들에서 돌아와 보니 야곱이 죽을 끓이고 있었다.
  5. 에사오가 야곱에게 "배고파 죽겠다. 그 붉은 죽 좀 먹자." 하였다. 그의 이름을 에돔이라고도 부르는 데는 이런 사연이 있다.
  1. Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright."
  2. "Look, I am about to die," Esau said. "What good is the birthright to me?"
  3. But Jacob said, "Swear to me first." So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.
  4. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.
  1. 야곱이 형에게 당장 상속권을 팔라고 제안하자
  2. 에사오는 배고파 죽을 지경인데 상속권 따위가 무슨 소용이 있느냐고 하였다.
  3. 그러나 야곱은, 먼저 맹세부터 하라고 다그쳐 요구하였다. 에사오는 맹세하고 장자의 상속권을 야곱에게 팔아 넘겼다.
  4. 그리고 에사오는 야곱에게서 떡과 불콩죽을 받아먹은 후에 일어나 나갔다. 이렇게 에사오는 자기의 상속권을 대수롭지 않게 여겼다.
 
  이삭과 아비멜렉(26:1-26:22)    
 
  1. Now there was a famine in the land--besides the earlier famine of Abraham's time--and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar.
  2. The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live.
  3. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.
  4. I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,
  5. because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws."
  1. 그 지방에는 아브라함 당시에도 흉년이 든 일이 있었는데 그런 흉년이 또 들었다. 그래서 이사악은 불레셋 왕 아비멜렉이 사는 그랄로 가려는데
  2. 야훼께서 나타나 말씀하셨다. "이집트로 내려가지 말고 내가 너에게 일러주는 땅에 자리잡고
  3. 그 땅에 몸붙여 살아라. 나는 너를 보살펴 주며 너에게 복을 내려주리라. 네 아비 아브라함과 맺은 내 맹세를 지켜 이 모든 지방을 너와 네 후손에게 주리라.
  4. 그리고 네 자손을 하늘에 있는 별만큼 불어나게 하여 그들에게 이 모든 지방을 주리라. 땅 위의 모든 민족이 네 후손의 덕을 입을 것이다.
  5. 이는 아브라함이 내 말을 따라 내가 지키라고 일러준 나의 계명과 규정과 훈계를 성심껏 지킨 덕이다."
  1. So Isaac stayed in Gerar.
  2. When the men of that place asked him about his wife, he said, "She is my sister," because he was afraid to say, "She is my wife." He thought, "The men of this place might kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is beautiful."
  3. When Isaac had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked down from a window and saw Isaac caressing his wife Rebekah.
  4. So Abimelech summoned Isaac and said, "She is really your wife! Why did you say, 'She is my sister'?" Isaac answered him, "Because I thought I might lose my life on account of her."
  5. Then Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the men might well have slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us."
  1. 이리하여 이사악은 그랄에서 살게 되었는데,
  2. 그 곳 사람들이 이사악의 아내를 보고 이 여자가 누구냐고 물었다. 이사악은 그가 자기의 누이라고 대답하였다. 리브가가 너무 아름다워서 그 곳 사람들이 리브가 때문에 자기를 죽이지나 않을까 걱정이 되어 자기 아내라고 하기를 꺼렸던 것이다.
  3. 이사악이 그 곳에 자리잡은 지 얼마 뒤의 일이다. 불레셋 왕 아비멜렉은 창문으로 밖을 내다보다가 이사악이 그의 아내 리브가를 애무하고 있는 것을 보고
  4. 이사악을 불러들여 나무랐다. "그 여자는 분명히 네 아내다. 그런데 왜 네 누이라고 하였느냐?" 이사악이 아내 때문에 죽게 될 것 같아서 그랬노라고 대답하자
  5. 아비멜렉은 "어쩌다가 우리에게 이런 일을 했느냐? 하마터면 내 백성 가운데 누가 네 아내를 범할 뻔했다. 너 때문에 우리가 죄를 뒤집어쓸 뻔하지 않았느냐?" 하고 나무라고 나서
  1. So Abimelech gave orders to all the people: "Anyone who molests this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."
  2. Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him.
  3. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.
  4. He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.
  5. So all the wells that his father's servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.
  1. 온 국민에게 경고를 내렸다. "이 사람이나 그의 아내를 건드리는 자는 누구든지 사형을 받을 것이다."
  2. 이사악은 그 땅에 씨를 뿌려 그 해에 수확을 백 배나 올렸다. 야훼께서 이렇듯 복을 내리셔서
  3. 그는 부자가 되었다. 점점 재산이 불어 마침내 거부가 되었다.
  4. 그는 양떼와 소떼와 많은 종들을 거느리게 되어 불레셋 사람들의 시기를 사게 되었다.
  5. 불레셋 사람들은 전에 이사악의 아버지 아브라함의 종들이 아브라함 생전에 팠던 우물을 모조리 흙으로 메워버렸다.
  1. Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us."
  2. So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there.
  3. Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.
  4. Isaac's servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there.
  5. But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen and said, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, because they disputed with him.
  1. 한편 아비멜렉은 이사악에게 "너는 우리보다도 훨씬 강해졌으니 여기에서 물러가라." 하였다.
  2. 이사악은 그 곳을 떠나 그랄 골짜기에 천막을 쳐 자리잡고
  3. 아버지 아브라함이 팠던 우물들을 다시 팠다. 이 우물들은 아브라함이 죽은 뒤에 불레셋 사람들이 메워버렸던 우물들이다. 이사악은 그 우물들을 아버지가 부르던 이름 그대로 불렀다.
  4. 이사악의 종들은 그 골짜기에 우물을 파다가 물이 콸콸 솟는 샘 줄기를 찾았다.
  5. 그런데 그랄에 사는 목자들이 그 물을 저희 것이라고 하면서 이사악의 목자들에게 싸움을 걸어왔다. 우물을 두고 싸움이 벌어졌다고 해서 이사악은 그 우물을 에섹이라고 불렀다.
  1. Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah.
  2. He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, "Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land."
  1. 또 다른 우물을 팠더니, 그들은 그 우물도 탐이 나서 또 싸움을 걸어왔다. 그래서 그 이름을 시트나라 하였다.
  2. 그는 자리를 옮겨 우물을 또 하나 팠다. 그러나 이번만은 그 우물을 두고 싸움을 걸어오지 않았다. 그래서 이사악은 그 우물을 르호봇이라 부르며 "마침내 야훼께서 우리 앞을 활짝 열어주셔서 우리도 이 땅에서 번성하게 되었다." 하고 소리쳤다.
