- "황폐의 상징인 흉측한 우상이 있어서는 안 될 곳에 선 것을 보거든 (독자는 알아들어라.) 유다에 있는 사람들은 산으로 도망가라.
- 지붕에 있는 사람은 집 안에 있는 세간을 꺼내러 내려오지 말며
- 밭에 있는 사람은 겉옷을 가지러 집으로 들어가지 마라.
- 이런 때에 임신한 여자들과 젖먹이가 딸린 여자들은 불행하다.
- 이런 일이 겨울에 일어나지 않도록 기도하여라.

- because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now--and never to be equaled again.
- If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.
- At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it.
- For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect--if that were possible.
- So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.

- 그 때에는 무서운 재난이 닥쳐올 터인데, 이런 재난은 하느님께서 세상을 창조하신 때부터 지금까지 없었고 또 앞으로도 다시 없을 것이다.
- 주께서 그 고생의 기간을 줄여주시지 않는다면 살아 남을 사람은 하나도 없다. 그러나 주께서는 뽑으신 백성들을 위하여 그 기간을 줄여주셨다."
- "그 때에 어떤 사람이 너희에게 '그리스도가 여기 있다!' 혹은 '저기 있다!' 해도 믿지 마라.
- 거짓 그리스도와 거짓 예언자들이 나타나서 어떻게 해서라도 뽑힌 사람들을 속이려고 여러 가지 기적과 이상한 일들을 할 것이다.
- 이 모든 일에 대하여 내가 이렇게 미리 말해 둔다. 그러니 조심하여라."

- "But in those days, following that distress, " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
- the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'
- "At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
- And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
- "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.

- "그 재난이 다 지나면 해는 어두워지고 달은 빛을 잃고
- 별들은 하늘에서 떨어지며 모든 천체가 흔들릴 것이다.
- 그러면 사람들은 사람의 아들이 구름을 타고 권능을 떨치며 영광에 싸여 오는 것을 보게 될 것이다.
- 그 때에 사람의 아들은 천사들을 보내어 땅 끝에서 하늘 끝까지 사방으로부터 뽑힌 사람들을 모을 것이다."
- "무화과나무를 보고 배워라. 가지가 연해지고 잎이 돋으면 여름이 가까워진 것을 알게 된다.

- Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door.
- I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
- Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
- "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
- Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.

- 이와 같이 너희도 이런 일들이 일어나는 것을 보거든 사람의 아들이 문 앞에 다가온 줄을 알아라.
- 나는 분명히 말한다. 이 세대가 지나기 전에 이 모든 일들이 일어나고야 말 것이다.
- 하늘과 땅은 사라질지라도 내 말은 결코 사라지지 않을 것이다."
- "그러나 그 날과 그 시간은 아무도 모른다. 하늘에 있는 천사들도 모르고 아들도 모르고 오직 아버지만이 아신다.
- 그 때가 언제 올는지 모르니 조심해서 항상 깨어 있어라.

- It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
- "Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back--whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.
- If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping.
- What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' "

- 그것은 마치 먼 길을 떠나는 사람이 종들에게 자기 권한을 주며 각각 일을 맡기고 특히 문지기에게는 깨어 있으라고 분부하는 것과 같다.
- 집 주인이 돌아올 시간이 저녁일지, 한밤중일지, 닭이 울 때일지, 혹은 이른 아침일지 알 수 없다. 그러니 깨어 있어라.
- 주인이 갑자기 돌아와서 너희가 잠자고 있는 것을 보게 되면 큰일이다.
- 늘 깨어 있어라. 너희에게 하는 이 말은 또한 모든 사람에게 하는 말이다."
