- Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem.
- Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" He said to them,
- "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.
- Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, 'Sir, open the door for us.' "But he will answer, 'I don't know you or where you come from.'
- "Then you will say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'

- 예수께서 예루살렘으로 가시는 길에 여러 동네와 마을에 들러서 가르치셨다.
- 그런데 어떤 사람이 "선생님, 구원받을 사람은 얼마 안 되겠지요?" 하고 물었다. 예수께서 사람들에게 이렇게 대답하셨다.
- "사실 많은 사람들이 구원의 문으로 들어가려고 하겠지만 들어가지 못할 것이다. 그러니 좁은 문으로 들어가도록 있는 힘을 다하여라.
- 집주인이 일어나서 문을 닫아버린 뒤에는 너희가 밖에 서서 문을 두드리며 '주인님, 문을 열어주십시오.' 하고 아무리 졸라도 주인은 '너희가 어디서 온 사람들인지 나는 모른다.' 할 것이다.
- 그래서 너희가 '저희가 먹고 마실 때에 주인님도 같이 계시지 않았습니까? 그리고 우리 동네에서 가르치시지 않았습니까?' 해도

- "But he will reply, 'I don't know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!'
- "There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out.
- People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God.
- Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last."
- At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, "Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you."

- 주인은 '너희가 어디서 온 사람들인지 나는 모른다. 악을 일삼는 자들아, 모두 물러가라.' 하고 대답할 것이다.
- 아브라함과 이사악과 야곱과 모든 예언자들은 다 하느님 나라에 있는데 너희만 밖에 쫓겨나 있는 것을 보게 되면 거기서 가슴을 치며 통곡할 것이다.
- 그러나 사방에서 많은 사람들이 모여들어 하느님 나라의 잔치에 참석할 것이다.
- 지금은 꼴찌지만 첫째가 되고 지금은 첫째지만 꼴찌가 될 사람들이 있을 것이다."
- 바로 그 때에 몇몇 바리사이파 사람들이 예수께 가까이 와서 "어서 이 곳을 떠나시오. 헤로데가 당신을 죽이려고 합니다." 하고 말하자

- He replied, "Go tell that fox, 'I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.'
- In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day--for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!
- "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!
- Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"

- 예수께서는 "그 여우에게 가서 '오늘과 내일은 내가 마귀를 쫓아내며 병을 고쳐주고 사흘째 되는 날이면 내 일을 마친다.' 하고 전하여라.
- 오늘도 내일도 그 다음날도 계속해서 내 길을 가야 한다. 예언자가 예루살렘 아닌 다른 곳에서야 죽을 수 있겠느냐?" 하고 말씀하셨다.
- "예루살렘아! 예루살렘아! 너는 예언자들을 죽이고 하느님께서 보내신 사람들을 돌로 치는구나! 암탉이 병아리를 날개 아래 모으듯이 내가 몇 번이나 네 자녀들을 모으려 했던가! 그러나 너는 응하지 않았다.
- 너희 성전은 하느님께 버림을 받을 것이다. '주의 이름으로 오시는 이여, 찬미받으소서!' 하고 너희가 말할 날이 올 때까지 너희는 정녕 나를 다시 보지 못하리라."
