룻기 3:1-4:22

 나오미는 룻과 보아스를 결혼시킬 것을 계획하고 룻은 나오미의 뜻을 따라 보아스에게 기업 무를 자의 의무를 이행하도록 요청했다. 이에 보아스는 그 절차를 이행하여 룻을 아내로 맞아 오벳을 낳았는데, 그는 다윗의 조부가 되었다.
  
  나오미의 계획(3:1-3:18)    
 
  1. One day Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, "My daughter, should I not try to find a home for you, where you will be well provided for?
  2. Is not Boaz, with whose servant girls you have been, a kinsman of ours? Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor.
  3. Wash and perfume yourself, and put on your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don't let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking.
  4. When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do."
  5. "I will do whatever you say," Ruth answered.
  1. 시어머니 나오미가 룻에게 말했다. "악아, 이젠 너도 행복을 누리며 살 보금자리가 있어야겠구나. 내가 그것을 마련해 주마. 그렇지 않느냐?
  2. 너는 보아즈 댁 아낙네들과 어울려 지냈지만 그분은 너도 알다시피 우리와는 친척이다. 바로 오늘 밤 그분은 타작 마당에서 보리를 까부를 것이다.
  3. 그러니 너는 목욕을 하고 향수를 바른 다음 장옷을 입고 그 댁 타작 마당에 내려가 보아라. 그분이 저녁 식사를 마치기까지는 눈치채이지 않도록 하여라.
  4. 그분이 잠자리에 들거든 그 잠자리를 잘 알아두었다가 살그머니 가서 그 발치께를 들치고, 거기 누워라. 그 다음에 네가 할 일은 그분이 일러줄 것이다."
  5. "어머님 말씀대로 어김없이 하겠습니다." 룻은 이렇게 대답하고,
  1. So she went down to the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her to do.
  2. When Boaz had finished eating and drinking and was in good spirits, he went over to lie down at the far end of the grain pile. Ruth approached quietly, uncovered his feet and lay down.
  3. In the middle of the night something startled the man, and he turned and discovered a woman lying at his feet.
  4. "Who are you?" he asked. "I am your servant Ruth," she said. "Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a kinsman-redeemer."
  5. "The LORD bless you, my daughter," he replied. "This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor.
  1. 타작 마당으로 내려가 시어머니가 시킨 대로 하였다.
  2. 보아즈는 먹고 마시고 나서 흐뭇한 마음으로 보리 가리 옆에 가서 누웠다. 룻은 살며시 가서 그의 발치께를 들치고 거기 누웠다.
  3. 보아즈는 한밤중에 한기를 느껴 몸을 웅크리다가 발치께에 웬 여자가 누워 있는 것을 알고
  4. "너는 웬 여자냐?" 하고 물었다. "비녀는 룻입니다." 하고 룻이 대답했다. "어르신네께서는 이 몸을 맡아주실 분이십니다. 그 옷자락으로 저의 몸을 덮어주십시오."
  5. "악아, 야훼께 복을 받아라." 하고 보아즈는 말했다. "너는 돈이야 있든 없든 젊은 사람을 따라감직한데 그러지 아니하고 이렇게까지 효성을 다하니, 이것은 지난날의 효성보다도 더 갸륵하구나.
  1. And now, my daughter, don't be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of noble character.
  2. Although it is true that I am near of kin, there is a kinsman-redeemer nearer than I.
  3. Stay here for the night, and in the morning if he wants to redeem, good; let him redeem. But if he is not willing, as surely as the LORD lives I will do it. Lie here until morning."
  4. So she lay at his feet until morning, but got up before anyone could be recognized; and he said, "Don't let it be known that a woman came to the threshing floor."
  5. He also said, "Bring me the shawl you are wearing and hold it out." When she did so, he poured into it six measures of barley and put it on her. Then he went back to town.
  1. 악아, 걱정하지 마라. 네가 무엇을 원하든지 내가 다 들어주마. 네가 굳센 여자라는 것은 이 성 안에 사는 내 겨레치고 모르는 사람이 없다.
  2. 너를 맡아줄 의무가 나에게 있는 것이 사실이지만 너한테는 나보다 더 가까운 친척이 또 있다.
  3. 이 밤은 여기서 지내거라. 내일 아침에 그가 너를 맡겠다고 나서면, 좋다, 그가 너를 맡을 것이다. 만일 그가 싫다고 하면, 내가 반드시 너를 맡아주겠다. 날이 샐 때까지 여기에서 쉬어라."
  4. 이리하여 룻은 날이 새기까지 그의 발치께에 누워 있다가, 여자가 타작 마당에 왔었다는 것이 알려져서는 안 된다는 보아즈의 말을 따라 서로 얼굴을 알아볼 수 있게 되기 전에 일어났다.
  5. 보아즈는 룻이 쓰고 있는 장옷을 벌리라고 한 다음 룻이 장옷을 벌리자 보리 여섯 되를 퍼 담아 지워주었다. 룻이 마을로 돌아와,
  1. When Ruth came to her mother-in-law, Naomi asked, "How did it go, my daughter?" Then she told her everything Boaz had done for her
  2. and added, "He gave me these six measures of barley, saying, 'Don't go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed.' "
  3. Then Naomi said, "Wait, my daughter, until you find out what happens. For the man will not rest until the matter is settled today."
  1. 시어머니에게로 오자 시어머니는 어찌 되었느냐고 물었다. 룻은 그가 자기에게 해준 일을 다 고했다.
  2. "시어머님께 빈손으로 돌아가서야 되겠느냐고 하시면서 보리를 여섯 되나 주시더군요."
  3. 이 말을 듣고 나오미는 "그분이 오늘 안으로 이 일을 결말짓지 않고는 못 견딜 것이다." 하면서 일이 어떻게 되는가 기다려 보라고 하였다.
 
  룻과 보아스의 결혼(4:1-4:22)    
 
  1. Meanwhile Boaz went up to the town gate and sat there. When the kinsman-redeemer he had mentioned came along, Boaz said, "Come over here, my friend, and sit down." So he went over and sat down.
  2. Boaz took ten of the elders of the town and said, "Sit here," and they did so.
  3. Then he said to the kinsman-redeemer, "Naomi, who has come back from Moab, is selling the piece of land that belonged to our brother Elimelech.
  4. I thought I should bring the matter to your attention and suggest that you buy it in the presence of these seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, do so. But if you will not, tell me, so I will know. For no one has the right to do it except you, and I am next in line." "I will redeem it," he said.
  5. Then Boaz said, "On the day you buy the land from Naomi and from Ruth the Moabitess, you acquire the dead man's widow, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property."
  1. 보아즈가 성문께로 올라가 앉아 있는데, 마침 자기가 말하던 그 친척이 지나갔다. "여보게, 이리로 와서 앉게나." 하며 보아즈가 그를 부르자, 그가 발길을 돌려와서 앉았다.
  2. 보아즈는 마을 장로들 가운데서 열 사람을 불러, "이리 와서 앉으십시오." 하고 자리를 권하였다. 그들이 자리를 잡자,
  3. 보아즈가 그 친척에게 말했다. "우리의 동기 엘리멜렉의 소유지가 있지 않소? 그런데 나오미가 모압 시골에서 돌아와서 그 땅 권리를 팔려고 내놓았소.
  4. 이 소식을 당신에게 알려드려야 한다고 생각해서 하는 말이지만, 여기 앉아 있는 분들과 내 겨레의 장로들이 보는 앞에서 그것을 사시오. 그 땅을 도로 사서 가질 생각이 있으면 도로 사서 가지시구려. 그럴 생각이 없으면 그렇다고 말해 주시오. 내가 알아야겠소. 그것을 도로 사서 가질 사람은 당신밖에 없소. 당신 다음은 나인가 하오." "내가 도로 사서 가지겠소." 하고 그가 대답하자,
  5. 보아즈가 다짐하였다. "나오미에게서 밭을 넘겨받는 날 당신은 고인의 아내 모압 여자 룻도 떠맡아야 하오. 그리하여 고인의 이름을 이어 그의 유산을 차지할 사람을 낳아주어야 하오."
  1. At this, the kinsman-redeemer said, "Then I cannot redeem it because I might endanger my own estate. You redeem it yourself. I cannot do it."
  2. (Now in earlier times in Israel, for the redemption and transfer of property to become final, one party took off his sandal and gave it to the other. This was the method of legalizing transactions in Israel.)
  3. So the kinsman-redeemer said to Boaz, "Buy it yourself." And he removed his sandal.
  4. Then Boaz announced to the elders and all the people, "Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelech, Kilion and Mahlon.
  5. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabitess, Mahlon's widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from the town records. Today you are witnesses!"
  1. 그러자 그 친척은 "그랬다가는 내 재산만 손해를 보게 되겠군. 그럴 수는 없소." 하면서 그 땅을 도로 사서 갖지 않겠다고 하였다. "내가 사서 가질 것이지만, 당신이나 사서 가지시구려. 나는 그럴 마음이 없소."
  2. 옛날 이스라엘에서는 유산을 도로 사서 가지는 의무를 남에게 넘겨줄 경우에는 신 한 짝을 벗어서 상대편에게 주는 습관이 있었다. 그것을 증거물로 삼고 매듭을 지었던 것이다.
  3. 그 친척도 "당신이 차지하시오." 하면서 신 한 짝을 벗어 보아즈에게 주었다.
  4. 그러자 보아즈는 장로들과 온 겨레에게 말했다. "나는 엘리멜렉과 길룐과 마흘론에게 딸렸던 모든 것을 나오미의 손에서 샀습니다. 당신들은 오늘 이 일의 증인입니다.
  5. 또 나는 마흘론의 아내 모압 여자 룻까지도 유산과 함께 아내로 얻었습니다. 그래서 나는 고인의 이름을 이어 그 유산을 차지할 사람을 낳아주어서 고인의 이름이 그의 형제들과 함께 남아 이 고장 성문 안에서 끊어지지 않도록 할 것입니다. 당신들은 오늘 이 일의 증인입니다."
  1. Then the elders and all those at the gate said, "We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you have standing in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.
  2. Through the offspring the LORD gives you by this young woman, may your family be like that of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah."
  3. So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. Then he went to her, and the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.
  4. The women said to Naomi: "Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel!
  5. He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth."
  1. 성문께 있던 온 백성이 "우리가 증인이오." 하고 대답하자 장로들이 말했다. "야훼께서 그대 집에 들어오는 이 여인으로 하여금 이스라엘 가문을 일으킨 두 여인 라헬과 레아처럼 되게 해주시기를 기원한다. 그대가 에브라다에서 권세를 떨치고 베들레헴에서 이름을 휘날리기를 빌며,
  2. 또한 야훼께서 이 젊은 여인의 몸에서 후손을 일으키시어 그대의 집안이, 다말이 유다에게 낳아준 베레스의 집안같이 되기를 기원한다."
  3. 이렇게 보아즈는 룻을 맞아 아내로 삼고 한자리에 들었다. 야훼께서 점지해 주셔서 룻이 아들을 낳자,
  4. 아낙네들이 나오미에게 축하하여 말했다. "오늘 이처럼 당신 가문이 대를 이어 내려가게 해주셨으니 야훼께 찬양을 드립니다. 이제 이 아기의 이름이 이스라엘에서 기림을 받게 되기를 우리는 바랍니다.
  5. 당신을 그토록 사랑하는 며느리가 낳아준 아들, 아들 일곱보다 더한 며느리가 낳아준 아들이니, 이제 그가 당신에게 살 맛을 되돌려주고 노후를 공양해 줄 것입니다."
  1. Then Naomi took the child, laid him in her lap and cared for him.
  2. The women living there said, "Naomi has a son." And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
  3. This, then, is the family line of Perez: Perez was the father of Hezron,
  4. Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab,
  5. Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,
  1. 나오미는 그 아기를 받아 품에 안고 자기 자식으로 길렀다.
  2. 이웃 아낙네들은 "나오미가 아들을 보았구나!" 하며 그 아기에게 오벳이라는 이름을 지어주었다. 그가 바로 다윗의 할아버지요, 이새의 아버지였다.
  3. 베레스의 계보는 다음과 같다. 베레스는 헤스론을 낳았고
  4. 헤스론은 람을, 람은 암미나답을,
  5. 암미나답은 나흐손을, 나흐손은 살몬을,
  1. Salmon the father of Boaz, Boaz the father of Obed,
  2. Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David.
  1. 살몬은 보아즈를, 보아즈는 오벳을,
  2. 오벳은 이새를, 이새는 다윗을 낳았다.
