사무엘상 29:1-31:13

 블레셋과 이스라엘의 전쟁에 참여한 다윗은 동족과 싸워야 할 위기에 처했으나, 블레셋 방백들의 견제로 그 위기를 모면했다. 아말렉이 시글락을 약탈하자 다윗은 그 뒤를 추격하여 탈취당한 노략물을 되찾아 분배했다. 사울이 블레셋과의 전투에서 패하여 그의 아들들과 함께 죽자, 길르앗 야베스 사람들이 그 시체를 수습하여 장사했다.
  
  다윗과 아기스(29:1-29:11)    
 
  1. The Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek, and Israel camped by the spring in Jezreel.
  2. As the Philistine rulers marched with their units of hundreds and thousands, David and his men were marching at the rear with Achish.
  3. The commanders of the Philistines asked, "What about these Hebrews?" Achish replied, "Is this not David, who was an officer of Saul king of Israel? He has already been with me for over a year, and from the day he left Saul until now, I have found no fault in him."
  4. But the Philistine commanders were angry with him and said, "Send the man back, that he may return to the place you assigned him. He must not go with us into battle, or he will turn against us during the fighting. How better could he regain his master's favor than by taking the heads of our own men?
  5. Isn't this the David they sang about in their dances: " 'Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands'?"
  1. 불레셋은 전군을 아벡에 집결시켰고 이스라엘은 이즈르엘에 있는 샘가에 진을 쳤다.
  2. 불레셋 군 추장들은 백 명씩, 혹은 천 명씩 부대를 편성하였고 다윗의 일행은 아기스와 함께 후방부대를 편성하였다.
  3. 그런데 불레셋 지휘관들이 "이 히브리 놈들이 왜 여기에 와 있소?" 하고 항의하였다. 아기스가 불레셋 지휘관들에게 말하였다. "그대들도 알다시피 이 사람은 이스라엘 왕 사울의 신하였던 다윗이오. 한두 해 데리고 있어 보았지만, 나에게 망명해 온 날부터 오늘까지 나는 이 사람에게서 아무 허물도 찾지 못하였소."
  4. 불레셋 지휘관들이 그에게 화를 내었다. "이자들을 돌려보내어 당신이 정해 준 곳으로 돌아가게 하시오. 그가 싸움터에서 돌아설지도 모르므로 우리는 그와 함께 출전할 수가 없습니다. 제 상전의 환심을 사려고 무슨 일을 할는지 어찌 알겠소? 여기 있는 우리 군인들의 목을 잘라가지고 갈지도 모르오.
  5. 이스라엘 사람들이 춤을 추며 노래할 때, '사울은 수천을 치셨고 다윗은 수만을 치셨다네.' 하던 바로 그 다윗이 아니오?"
  1. So Achish called David and said to him, "As surely as the LORD lives, you have been reliable, and I would be pleased to have you serve with me in the army. From the day you came to me until now, I have found no fault in you, but the rulers don't approve of you.
  2. Turn back and go in peace; do nothing to displease the Philistine rulers."
  3. "But what have I done?" asked David. "What have you found against your servant from the day I came to you until now? Why can't I go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?"
  4. Achish answered, "I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders have said, 'He must not go up with us into battle.'
  5. Now get up early, along with your master's servants who have come with you, and leave in the morning as soon as it is light."
  1. 그래서 아기스는 다윗을 불러 일렀다. "살아 계신 야훼 앞에서 맹세하오. 장군은 곧은 사람이오. 나에게 온 날부터 이 날까지 나는 장군에게서 아무 허물도 찾지 못하였소. 그래서 장군을 데리고 출전하는 것이 좋겠다고 생각했는데, 다른 추장들이 좋게 보지 않소.
  2. 그러니 이제 편안히 돌아가시오. 불레셋의 추장들 눈 밖에 날 일은 하지 않는 게 좋겠소."
  3. 다윗이 아기스에게 항의하였다. "내가 무엇을 했다는 말입니까? 이 날까지 당신을 모시고 있었는데, 그 동안 나에게 무슨 허물이 있었다고 상전이신 당신의 원수와 싸우러 나가지 못하게 하십니까?"
  4. 그러나 아기스는 다윗을 달랬다. "내가 보기에 장군은 하늘이 보낸 사람처럼 훌륭한 분이오. 그러나 불레셋 지휘관들이 장군과 함께 싸우러 나가지 못하겠다고 하니,
  5. 장군과 함께 왔던 나의 부하들을 데리고 내일 아침에 일찍 떠나서 내가 정해 준 자리로 가도록 하시오. 나만은 장군을 훌륭하게 보니 공연한 생각을 품지 마시오. 내일 아침 동이 트는 대로 길을 떠나도록 하시오."
  1. So David and his men got up early in the morning to go back to the land of the Philistines, and the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
  1. 그래서 다윗은 부하들을 데리고 아침 일찍 길을 떠나 불레셋 땅으로 돌아가고 불레셋 군은 이즈르엘로 진군해 갔다.
 
  아말렉을 멸한 다윗(30:1-30:31)    
 
  1. David and his men reached Ziklag on the third day. Now the Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it,
  2. and had taken captive the women and all who were in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way.
  3. When David and his men came to Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.
  4. So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep.
  5. David's two wives had been captured--Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel.
  1. 다윗은 부하를 이끌고 사흘 만에 시글락에 이르렀는데 그 때는 이미 네겝과 시글락이 아말렉 군에게 약탈당한 뒤였다. 그들은 시글락을 쳐 불을 지르고는
  2. 여자를 비롯하여 거기에 있던 사람은 하나도 죽이지 않고 높은 사람 낮은 사람 할 것 없이 모두 사로잡아 갔다.
  3. 다윗의 일행이 성에 이르러서 보니 성은 불타고 있었고 아내와 아들딸들은 이미 사로잡혀 간 뒤였다.
  4. 다윗과 함께 있던 무리는 소리쳐 울부짖다가 지쳐서 더 이상 울 기운조차 없게 되었다.
  5. 다윗의 두 아내 이즈르엘 여자 아히노암과 가르멜 사람 나발의 아내였던 아비가일도 사로잡혀 갔다.
  1. David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
  2. Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, "Bring me the ephod." Abiathar brought it to him,
  3. and David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?" "Pursue them," he answered. "You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue."
  4. David and the six hundred men with him came to the Besor Ravine, where some stayed behind,
  5. for two hundred men were too exhausted to cross the ravine. But David and four hundred men continued the pursuit.
  1. 온 무리는 아들딸을 잃고 격분해서 다윗을 돌로 쳐죽이자고 수군거렸다. 그리하여 다윗은 곤경에 빠지게 되었으나 자기의 하느님 야훼를 믿고 힘을 얻었다.
  2. 다윗은 아히멜렉의 아들 에비아달 사제에게 부탁하여 에봇을 모셔 오게 하였다. 에비아달이 에봇을 다윗에게 모셔 오자
  3. 다윗이 야훼께 여쭈었다. "이 강도떼를 쫓아가면 따라잡을 수 있겠습니까?" 야훼께서 "쫓아가거라. 따라잡을 뿐만 아니라 모든 것을 도로 찾을 수 있다." 하고 대답하시자
  4. 다윗은 부하 육백 명을 이끌고 나섰다. 브솔 개울에 다다랐을 때 뒤에 처지는 사람들이 생겼다.
  5. 다윗은 지쳐서 브솔 개울을 건너지 못하는 이백 명은 거기에 남겨두고 사백 명만을 데리고 계속 쫓아갔다.
  1. They found an Egyptian in a field and brought him to David. They gave him water to drink and food to eat-
  2. part of a cake of pressed figs and two cakes of raisins. He ate and was revived, for he had not eaten any food or drunk any water for three days and three nights.
  3. David asked him, "To whom do you belong, and where do you come from?" He said, "I am an Egyptian, the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me when I became ill three days ago.
  4. We raided the Negev of the Kerethites and the territory belonging to Judah and the Negev of Caleb. And we burned Ziklag."
  5. David asked him, "Can you lead me down to this raiding party?" He answered, "Swear to me before God that you will not kill me or hand me over to my master, and I will take you down to them."
  1. 그러다가 벌판에서 이집트 사람 하나를 만나게 되었는데 부하들이 그를 다윗에게 데리고 와 빵을 주어 먹게 하고 물을 주어 마시게 하였다.
  2. 또 말린 무화과 한 뭉치와 건포도 두 덩이를 주었다. 그는 이것을 먹고 정신을 차렸다. 그는 사흘 밤낮을 음식이라고는 입에 대어보지도 못했던 것이다.
  3. 다윗이 그에게 물었다. "너는 누구네 집 사람이며 어디에서 왔느냐?" 그가 대답하였다. "저는 이집트 아이로서 어떤 아말렉 사람 집에서 종살이를 해왔습니다. 그런데 사흘 전에 병이 들자 주인이 저를 버리고 갔습니다.
  4. 우리는 그렛 지방 남부와 유다 변경과 갈렙 지방 남부를 치고 시글락에 불을 놓았습니다."
  5. 다윗이 그에게 물었다. "내가 그 강도떼들 있는 곳으로 갈 터인데, 길잡이로 나설 생각이 없느냐?" 그가 대답하였다. "저를 죽이지 않으시고, 제 상전의 손에 넘기시지도 않으실 것을 하느님을 두고 맹세해 주십시오. 그러면 제가 그 강도떼들이 있는 곳으로 모시고 가겠습니다."
  1. He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah.
  2. David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.
  3. David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives.
  4. Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back.
  5. He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, "This is David's plunder."
  1. 그는 이렇게 다짐을 받고 길을 안내하였다. 그를 따라 내려가다가 보니 과연 아말렉 군이 그 일대에 깔려 있었다. 불레셋 지방과 유다 지방을 털어온 것들을 먹고 마시며 흥청거리고 있었던 것이다.
  2. 다윗은 새벽부터 이튿날 해 질 무렵까지 그들을 쳐부수었는데 겨우 사백 명 정도가 낙타를 타고 도망쳤을 뿐이었다.
  3. 이리하여 다윗은 아말렉 군이 털어갔던 것을 모두 되찾고 두 아내도 살려내었다.
  4. 모든 사람들이 그들에게 약탈당했던 것을 되찾았다. 다윗은 높은 사람, 낮은 사람, 아들딸은 물론 그들에게 빼앗겼던 물건까지도 하나도 잃지 않고 모두 되찾았다.
  5. 그들은 양떼와 소떼를 빼앗아 앞세우고는 "다윗의 전리품이다." 하면서 돌아왔다.
  1. Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him and who were left behind at the Besor Ravine. They came out to meet David and the people with him. As David and his men approached, he greeted them.
  2. But all the evil men and troublemakers among David's followers said, "Because they did not go out with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered. However, each man may take his wife and children and go."
  3. David replied, "No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the LORD has given us. He has protected us and handed over to us the forces that came against us.
  4. Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike."
  5. David made this a statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this.
  1. 지쳐서 자기를 따르지 못하고 뒤에 처져 있던 이백 명이 있는 브솔 개울로 다윗이 돌아오자 그들이 나와서 다윗과 다윗의 군대를 맞았다. 그리고 다윗에게 다가와 인사하였다.
  2. 그런데 다윗과 같이 갔다 오던 자들 가운데 심술궂은 자들이 불평을 터뜨렸다. "이 친구들은 우리와 함께 가지 않았으니 우리가 되찾은 전리품은 하나도 줄 필요가 없습니다. 그들에게는 처자들만 주어서 데리고 가게 합시다."
  3. 그러나 다윗은 "동지들, 야훼께서 우리를 지켜주시지 않았소? 우리에게 쳐들어왔던 그 강도떼를 우리 손에 부쳐주시지 않았소? 그러니 야훼께서 우리에게 주신 것을 가지고 어떻게 그럴 수 있겠소?" 하면서 잘라 말하였다.
  4. "결코 그럴 수 없소. 싸우러 나갔던 사람의 몫이나 뒤에 남아 물건을 지킨 사람의 몫이나 다 한가지로 똑같이 분배해야 하오."
  5. 다윗이 그 날 한 판결은 이스라엘의 관습법이 되어 지금까지 통용되고 있다.
  1. When David arrived in Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, saying, "Here is a present for you from the plunder of the LORD's enemies."
  2. He sent it to those who were in Bethel, Ramoth Negev and Jattir;
  3. to those in Aroer, Siphmoth, Eshtemoa
  4. and Racal; to those in the towns of the Jerahmeelites and the Kenites;
  5. to those in Hormah, Bor Ashan, Athach
  1. 다윗은 시글락에 돌아와 친분이 있는 유다 장로들에게 전리품을 보내면서 말을 전하였다. "야훼의 원수들에게서 털어온 것을 선물로 드립니다. 받아주십시오."
  2. 베델, 네겝 지방의 라못, 야띨,
  3. 아로엘, 시브못, 에스드모아,
  4. 라갈, 여라므엘의 여러 성, 켄의 여러 성,
  5. 호르마, 보라산, 아닥,
  1. and Hebron; and to those in all the other places where David and his men had roamed.
  1. 헤브론에 있는 장로들, 그리고 자기가 부하들을 거느리고 드나들던 모든 지방의 장로들에게 다윗은 선물을 보냈다.
 
  사울의 죽음(31:1-31:13)    
 
  1. Now the Philistines fought against Israel; the Israelites fled before them, and many fell slain on Mount Gilboa.
  2. The Philistines pressed hard after Saul and his sons, and they killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki-Shua.
  3. The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him critically.
  4. Saul said to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and run me through and abuse me." But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.
  5. When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died with him.
  1. 불레셋 군이 이스라엘을 공격하였다. 이스라엘 군은 불레셋 군에게 쫓겨 도망치다가 길보아 산에서 마구 쓰러져갔다.
  2. 불레셋 군은 계속 사울과 그의 아들들을 추격하여 사울의 세 아들 요나단, 아비나답, 말기수아를 쳐죽였다.
  3. 전세가 이미 다 기울어진 판에 사울마저 적의 화살에 맞아 부상당하고 말았다.
  4. 사울은 자기의 무기 당번에게 일렀다. "저 오랑캐들에게 붙잡혀 욕을 당할 수는 없다. 차라리 네가 칼을 뽑아 나를 찔러라." 그러나 무기 당번은 감히 칼을 뽑지 못하고 망설였다. 그러자 사울은 손수 칼을 뽑아 자결하였다.
  5. 사울이 죽는 것을 보고는 무기 당번도 자기 칼을 뽑아 자결하였다.
  1. So Saul and his three sons and his armor-bearer and all his men died together that same day.
  2. When the Israelites along the valley and those across the Jordan saw that the Israelite army had fled and that Saul and his sons had died, they abandoned their towns and fled. And the Philistines came and occupied them.
  3. The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
  4. They cut off his head and stripped off his armor, and they sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to proclaim the news in the temple of their idols and among their people.
  5. They put his armor in the temple of the Ashtoreths and fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan.
  1. 그리하여 그 날, 사울과 그의 세 아들과 무기 당번과 사울의 부하들이 모두 죽고 말았다.
  2. 그 곳 골짜기 건너편과 요르단 강 건너편에 있던 이스라엘 사람들이 이스라엘 군이 도주하고 사울의 부자마저 전사하는 것을 보고 모두 저희의 성읍들을 버리고 도망치자 불레셋 사람들이 거기에 와서 살게 되었다.
  3. 그 이튿날 불레셋 군은 길보아 산에 올라, 죽은 군인들의 옷을 벗기다가 사울과 그의 세 아들이 쓰러져 있는 것을 발견하였다.
  4. 그들은 사울의 목을 자르고 갑옷을 벗겨 불레셋 땅 방방곡곡에 보내어 저희의 우상과 백성에게 기쁜 소식을 알렸다.
  5. 그리고 나서 그가 입었던 갑옷은 아스다롯 신당에 보관하고 시체는 벳산 성벽에 못박아 달아놓았다.
  1. When the people of Jabesh Gilead heard of what the Philistines had done to Saul,
  2. all their valiant men journeyed through the night to Beth Shan. They took down the bodies of Saul and his sons from the wall of Beth Shan and went to Jabesh, where they burned them.
  3. Then they took their bones and buried them under a tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and they fasted seven days.
  1. 야베스 길르앗에 살던 사람들은 불레셋 군이 사울을 이렇게 해치웠다는 소식을 듣고
  2. 용사들이 모두 길을 떠나 밤을 도와 벳산에 이르러 사울 부자의 시체를 그 곳 성벽에서 내려다가 야베스로 옮겨 화장한 다음,
  3. 그 뼈를 야베스에 있는 위성류나무 아래 매장하고 칠 일간 단식하였다.
 
  침노(侵擄, 30:1)  남의 나라를 침략하여 땅과 재물을 뺏음
