사무엘하 12:1-13:39

 밧세바 사건에 대하여 나단의 책망과 경고를 들은 다윗은 즉시로 죄를 자백하고 회개했다. 하나님께서는 이 사건으로 인해 다윗의 집안에 재난이 끊이지 않으리라는 경고의 말씀을 하시고, 밧세바의 아이의 생명을 거둬 가셨다. 그 말씀대로 다윗의 장자 암논이 누이 다말을 강제 추행하고 내어 버리는 사건이 일어났다. 이 일을 알게 된 다말의 친오라비 압살롬은 암논을 보복 살해했다.
  
  나단의 책망과 다윗의 회개(12:1-12:31)    
 
  1. The LORD sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, "There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor.
  2. The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle,
  3. but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.
  4. "Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him."
  5. David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, "As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!
  1. 야훼께서 예언자 나단을 다윗에게 보내셨다. 나단은 다윗을 찾아와 이런 이야기를 하였다. "어떤 성에 두 사람이 살고 있었는데, 한 사람은 부자였고 한 사람은 가난했습니다.
  2. 부자에게는 양도 소도 매우 많았지만,
  3. 가난한 이에게는 품삯으로 얻어 기르는 암컷 새끼 양 한 마리밖에 없었습니다. 그는 이 새끼 양을 제 자식들과 함께 키우며, 한 밥그릇에서 같이 먹이고 같은 잔으로 마시고 잘 때는 친딸이나 다를 바 없이 품에 안고 잤습니다.
  4. 그런데 하루는 부잣집에 손님이 하나 찾아왔습니다. 주인은 손님을 대접하는데 자기의 소나 양은 잡기가 아까워서, 그 가난한 집 새끼 양을 빼앗아 손님 대접을 했습니다."
  5. 다윗은 몹시 괘씸한 생각이 들어 나단에게 소리쳤다. "저런 죽일 놈! 세상에 그럴 수가 있느냐?
  1. He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity."
  2. Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.
  3. I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.
  4. Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
  5. Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.'
  1. 그런 인정머리 없는 짓을 한 놈을 그냥 둘 수는 없다. 그 양 한 마리를 네 배로 갚게 하리라."
  2. 그 때 나단이 다윗에게 말하였다. "임금님이 바로 그 사람입니다. 이스라엘의 하느님, 야훼께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '나는 너를 사울의 손아귀에서 빼내어 기름을 붓고 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았다.
  3. 나는 네 상전의 딸과 아내들까지 네 품에 안겨주었다. 나는 온 이스라엘과 유다의 딸들까지 너에게 주었다. 그래도 모자란다면 어떤 여자든지 더 주었을 것이다.
  4. 그런데 어찌하여 너는 나를 얕보며 내 눈에 거슬리는 짓을 했느냐? 너는 헷 사람 우리야를 칼로 쳐죽였다. 암몬 군의 칼을 빌려 그를 죽이고 그의 아내를 빼앗아 네 아내로 삼았다.
  5. 네가 이렇게 나를 얕보고 헷 사람 우리야의 아내를 네 아내로 삼았으니, 너의 집안에는 칼부림이 가실 날이 없으리라.'
  1. "This is what the LORD says: 'Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight.
  2. You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.' "
  3. Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." Nathan replied, "The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.
  4. But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt, the son born to you will die."
  5. After Nathan had gone home, the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife had borne to David, and he became ill.
  1. 야훼께서 또 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '바로 네 당대에 재난을 일으킬 터이니 두고 보아라. 네가 보는 앞에서 네 계집들을 끌어다가 딴 사내의 품에 안겨주리라. 밝은 대낮에 네 계집들은 욕을 당하리라.
  2. 너는 그 일을 쥐도 새도 모르게 했지만, 나는 이 일을 대낮에 온 이스라엘이 지켜보는 앞에서 이루리라.'"
  3. "내가 야훼께 죄를 지었소." 다윗이 이렇게 자기 죄를 고백하자 나단이 말하였다. "야훼께서 분명 임금님의 죄를 용서해 주실 것입니다. 그리하여 임금님께서 죽지는 않으실 것입니다.
  4. 그러나 임금님께서 야훼를 얕보셨으니, 우리야의 아내가 낳게 될 아이는 죽을 것입니다."
  5. 나단은 이 말을 남기고 집으로 돌아갔다.
  1. David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and went into his house and spent the nights lying on the ground.
  2. The elders of his household stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he refused, and he would not eat any food with them.
  3. On the seventh day the child died. David's servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they thought, "While the child was still living, we spoke to David but he would not listen to us. How can we tell him the child is dead? He may do something desperate."
  4. David noticed that his servants were whispering among themselves and he realized the child was dead. "Is the child dead?" he asked. "Yes," they replied, "he is dead."
  5. Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.
  1. 다윗은 식음을 전폐하고 베옷을 걸친 채 밤을 새우며 어린것을 살려달라고 맨땅에 엎드려 하느님께 애원하였다.
  2. 늙은 신하들이 둘러서서 일어나라고 했으나, 그는 일어나지도 아니하고 더불어 음식을 입에 대려고도 하지 않았다.
  3. 아기는 마침내 칠 일 만에 숨을 거두었다. 그러나 신하들은 다윗에게 아기가 죽었다는 것을 차마 알리지 못하고 수군거렸다. "아기가 살아 있을 때에도 우리 말을 듣지 않으셨는데, 아기가 죽었다는 사실을 알려드리면 무슨 변이 생길지 모른다."
  4. 그러나 다윗은 신하들이 수군거리는 것을 보고는 아이가 죽었음을 알아채고 아기가 죽었느냐고 물었다. 신하들이 그렇다고 대답하자
  5. 다윗은 땅에서 몸을 일으키더니 목욕을 하고, 몸에 기름을 바르고, 깨끗한 옷으로 갈아 입고 야훼의 전에 들어가 예배를 올렸다. 그리고는 집에 돌아와 음식을 차려오게 하여 먹기 시작하였다.
  1. His servants asked him, "Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!"
  2. He answered, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, 'Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let the child live.'
  3. But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me."
  4. Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and lay with her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. The LORD loved him;
  5. and because the LORD loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah.
  1. 신하들이 물었다. "아기가 살아 계실 때에는 잡수시지도 않고 아기 생각만 하며 우시더니, 막상 아기가 돌아가시자 일어나셔서 음식을 드시니 어찌 된 일이십니까?"
  2. 그가 대답하였다. "그 애가 살아 있을 때 굶으며 운 것은 행여 야훼께서 나를 불쌍히 보시고 아기를 살려주실까 해서였소.
  3. 아기가 이미 죽고 없는데 굶은들 무슨 소용이 있겠소? 내가 굶는다고 죽은 아이가 돌아오겠소? 내가 그 애한테 갈 수는 있지만, 그 애가 나한테 돌아올 수는 없지 않소?"
  4. 다윗이 아내 바쎄바를 위로하여 잠자리를 같이 하니 바쎄바가 아들을 낳아 이름을 솔로몬이라 하였다. 야훼께서 그 아이를 사랑하셨다.
  5. 야훼께서 예언자 나단을 보내시어 당신이 사랑하는 아이라 하여 여디디야라는 이름을 내리셨다.
  1. Meanwhile Joab fought against Rabbah of the Ammonites and captured the royal citadel.
  2. Joab then sent messengers to David, saying, "I have fought against Rabbah and taken its water supply.
  3. Now muster the rest of the troops and besiege the city and capture it. Otherwise I will take the city, and it will be named after me."
  4. So David mustered the entire army and went to Rabbah, and attacked and captured it.
  5. He took the crown from the head of their king --its weight was a talent of gold, and it was set with precious stones--and it was placed on David's head. He took a great quantity of plunder from the city
  1. 요압은 암몬 사람들의 라빠 성을 공격하여 여울목을 지키는 성까지 점령하였다.
  2. 그는 전령을 보내어 다윗에게 보고하였다. "라빠를 공격하여 여울목을 지키는 성까지 쳤으니
  3. 이제 임금님께서 남은 병력을 몰고 오시어 이 성을 함락시키십시오. 이 성을 제가 점령하여 성이 제 이름으로 불리게 되어서야 되겠습니까?"
  4. 그리하여 다윗은 전군을 몰고 라빠로 쳐들어가 그 곳을 점령하고는
  5. 암몬 왕의 머리에서 왕관을 벗겨 썼다. 그 관은 금만 해도 무게가 한 달란트나 되었고 값진 보석들이 박혀 있는 것이었다. 다윗은 그 성에서 아주 많은 전리품을 취하고
  1. and brought out the people who were there, consigning them to labor with saws and with iron picks and axes, and he made them work at brickmaking. He did this to all the Ammonite towns. Then David and his entire army returned to Jerusalem.
  1. 성 안의 백성들은 데려다가 톱질, 곡괭이질, 도끼질, 벽돌 굽는 일 등을 시켰다. 다윗은 암몬 사람들의 여러 성을 이렇게 휩쓸고 나서 전군을 거두어 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.
 
  암논과 다말(13:1-13:19)    
 
  1. In the course of time, Amnon son of David fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of Absalom son of David.
  2. Amnon became frustrated to the point of illness on account of his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin, and it seemed impossible for him to do anything to her.
  3. Now Amnon had a friend named Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother. Jonadab was a very shrewd man.
  4. He asked Amnon, "Why do you, the king's son, look so haggard morning after morning? Won't you tell me?" Amnon said to him, "I'm in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister."
  5. "Go to bed and pretend to be ill," Jonadab said. "When your father comes to see you, say to him, 'I would like my sister Tamar to come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare the food in my sight so I may watch her and then eat it from her hand.' "
  1. 그 뒤에 이런 일이 있었다. 다윗의 아들 압살롬에게 다말이라는 예쁜 누이가 있었는데, 다윗의 다른 아들 암논이 다말을 사랑하였다.
  2. 그러나 다말은 아직 처녀여서 좀처럼 만나기가 어렵다는 것을 알고 암논은 애만 태우다가 병이 나고 말았다.
  3. 마침 시므아라는 삼촌에게 요나답이라는 꾀 많은 아들이 있었는데 그는 암논과 가까운 사이였다.
  4. 그가 암논에게 물었다. "왕자님, 요즘 아침에 뵈올 적마다 안색이 좋지 않으십니다. 웬일인지 그 곡절을 들려주십시오." 암논이 대답하였다. "나는 동생 압살롬의 누이 다말을 사랑하고 있소." 이 말을 듣고
  5. 요나답이 한 꾀를 일러주었다. "병든 체하고 자리에 누워 있다가 부왕께서 문병 오시거든 누이 동생 다말을 보내어 음식 시중을 들게 해달라고 청을 드려보십시오. 다말이 음식 차려주는 것을 보고 싶고 그 손에서 받아먹고 싶다고 해보십시오."
  1. So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to him, "I would like my sister Tamar to come and make some special bread in my sight, so I may eat from her hand."
  2. David sent word to Tamar at the palace: "Go to the house of your brother Amnon and prepare some food for him."
  3. So Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon, who was lying down. She took some dough, kneaded it, made the bread in his sight and baked it.
  4. Then she took the pan and served him the bread, but he refused to eat. "Send everyone out of here," Amnon said. So everyone left him.
  5. Then Amnon said to Tamar, "Bring the food here into my bedroom so I may eat from your hand." And Tamar took the bread she had prepared and brought it to her brother Amnon in his bedroom.
  1. 암논은 자리에 누워서 앓는 체하고 있었다. 그러다가 왕이 문병 오자 청을 드렸다. "아버님, 누이 다말을 보내주십시오. 다말이 제 앞에서 떡 두어 개 손수 구워주는 것을 받아먹고 싶습니다."
  2. 다윗은 다말이 사는 궁으로 사람을 보내어 오라비 암논에게 가서 환자 입에 맞는 음식을 만들어주라고 일렀다.
  3. 다말이 오라비 암논의 궁으로 가서 보니 그는 정말 누워 있었다. 다말은 오라비가 보는 앞에서 떡가루로 반죽을 개어 환자가 먹을 떡을 빚어 구워냈다.
  4. 그리고 구운 떡을 오라비 앞에 차려놓았으나 암논은 먹을 생각은 하지 않고 방에 있던 사람들을 밖으로 나가라고 하였다. 시중들던 사람들이 다 물러가자
  5. 암논이 다말에게 말하였다. "그 떡을 이 방으로 가지고 들어와서 네 손으로 먹여다오." 다말이 손수 만든 떡을 들고 오라비 암논의 침실로 들어가서
  1. But when she took it to him to eat, he grabbed her and said, "Come to bed with me, my sister."
  2. "Don't, my brother!" she said to him. "Don't force me. Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don't do this wicked thing.
  3. What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you."
  4. But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.
  5. Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred. In fact, he hated her more than he had loved her. Amnon said to her, "Get up and get out!"
  1. 그에게 먹이려고 다가가자 암논은 다말을 끌어안고 같이 자자고 했다.
  2. "오라버니, 이러지 마십시오. 제발 나를 욕보이지 마십시오. 이스라엘에는 이런 법이 없습니다. 이런 바보짓을 하지 마십시오.
  3. 제가 이런 수치를 어디에 가서 숨기겠습니까? 그러면 오라버니는 이스라엘에서 바보가 될 것입니다. 이제라도 아버님께 저를 달라고 말씀해 보십시오. 거절하시지는 않으실 것입니다."
  4. 그러나 아무리 애걸해도 암논은 듣지 않고 억지로 다말을 눕히고 욕을 보였다.
  5. 그리고 나서는 다말이 몹시 싫어졌다. 욕을 보이고 나니 마음이 변해서 전에 사랑하던 그만큼 싫어졌던 것이다. 암논은 다말에게 "어서 나가!" 하고 소리쳤다.
  1. "No!" she said to him. "Sending me away would be a greater wrong than what you have already done to me." But he refused to listen to her.
  2. He called his personal servant and said, "Get this woman out of here and bolt the door after her."
  3. So his servant put her out and bolted the door after her. She was wearing a richly ornamented robe, for this was the kind of garment the virgin daughters of the king wore.
  4. Tamar put ashes on her head and tore the ornamented robe she was wearing. She put her hand on her head and went away, weeping aloud as she went.
  1. "오라버니, 너무하십니다. 이제 저를 내쫓으신다는 것은 방금 저에게 저지르신 일보다도 더 나쁜 일입니다." 하고 그가 말했지만 암논은 들은 체도 않고
  2. 시중 드는 하인을 불러 "이 계집을 내 앞에서 쫓아내고 문을 걸어라." 하고 명령하였다.
  3. 하인이 다말을 내보내고 문을 잠가버렸다. 다말은 시집 안 간 공주들이 입는 소매 긴 장옷을 입고 있었다.
  4. 다말은 머리에 먼지를 들쓰고, 걸치고 있던 장옷을 찢으며 손으로 머리를 감싸쥔 채 목놓아 울면서 돌아갔다.
 
  압살롬의 보복(13:20-13:39)    
 
  1. Her brother Absalom said to her, "Has that Amnon, your brother, been with you? Be quiet now, my sister; he is your brother. Don't take this thing to heart." And Tamar lived in her brother Absalom's house, a desolate woman.
  2. When King David heard all this, he was furious.
  3. Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad; he hated Amnon because he had disgraced his sister Tamar.
  4. Two years later, when Absalom's sheepshearers were at Baal Hazor near the border of Ephraim, he invited all the king's sons to come there.
  5. Absalom went to the king and said, "Your servant has had shearers come. Will the king and his officials please join me?"
  1. 다말의 오라비 압살롬이 다말에게 물었다. "암논이 너를 건드렸지? 그래도 그는 네 오라비니 이 일은 입 밖에 내지 마라. 이 일로 너무 마음 쓸 것 없다." 그 뒤로 다말은 오라비 압살롬의 집에서 쓸쓸한 나날을 보내게 되었다.
  2. 다윗 왕은 이 이야기를 듣고 몹시 화가 났지만, 암논이 사랑하는 맏아들이라 기분 상할 말을 하지 않았다.
  3. 압살롬은 암논과는 말을 하지 않았다. 누이 동생 다말을 욕보인 일로 앙심을 품고 있었다.
  4. 그로부터 이 년이 지났다. 압살롬은 양털 깎는 절기를 맞아 에브라임 근방 바알하솔로 왕자들을 모두 초대하였다.
  5. 그리고는 어전에 들어가 청을 드렸다. "아버님, 이번에 소자가 양털을 깎는데 아버님과 대신들을 모시려고 합니다."
  1. "No, my son," the king replied. "All of us should not go; we would only be a burden to you." Although Absalom urged him, he still refused to go, but gave him his blessing.
  2. Then Absalom said, "If not, please let my brother Amnon come with us." The king asked him, "Why should he go with you?"
  3. But Absalom urged him, so he sent with him Amnon and the rest of the king's sons.
  4. Absalom ordered his men, "Listen! When Amnon is in high spirits from drinking wine and I say to you, 'Strike Amnon down,' then kill him. Don't be afraid. Have not I given you this order? Be strong and brave."
  5. So Absalom's men did to Amnon what Absalom had ordered. Then all the king's sons got up, mounted their mules and fled.
  1. 왕이 "압살롬아, 그럴 것 없다. 우리가 다 내려가면, 너에게 너무 폐가 될 게 아니냐?" 하며 사양하였지만 압살롬은 계속 간청하였다. 그래도 다윗은 갈 마음이 없어 너나 가서 잘 지내라고 하였다.
  2. 그러자 압살롬은 맏형 암논이라도 같이 가게 해달라고 청을 드렸다. 왕은 암논이 무엇하러 가겠느냐고 했다.
  3. 그래도 압살롬이 굳이 간청하자, 왕은 암논을 보내면서 다른 왕자들도 딸려 보냈다.
  4. 압살롬은 대궐 잔치만큼 크게 차리고 부하들에게 미리 일러두었다. "암논이 술에 취해 거나해지면 내가 치라고 할 터이니, 그 때 암논을 쳐죽여라. 내 명령이니 두려워하지 마라. 마음을 단단히 먹고 거침없이 해치워라."
  5. 압살롬의 부하들은 시키는 대로 암논을 해치웠다. 그러자 다른 왕자들은 자리를 박차고 일어나 저마다 노새를 타고 달아나 버렸다.
  1. While they were on their way, the report came to David: "Absalom has struck down all the king's sons; not one of them is left."
  2. The king stood up, tore his clothes and lay down on the ground; and all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.
  3. But Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother, said, "My lord should not think that they killed all the princes; only Amnon is dead. This has been Absalom's expressed intention ever since the day Amnon raped his sister Tamar.
  4. My lord the king should not be concerned about the report that all the king's sons are dead. Only Amnon is dead."
  5. Meanwhile, Absalom had fled. Now the man standing watch looked up and saw many people on the road west of him, coming down the side of the hill. The watchman went and told the king, "I see men in the direction of Horonaim, on the side of the hill."
  1. 왕자들이 도착하기도 전에 압살롬이 왕자들을 모조리 쳐죽였다는 소문이 다윗의 귀에 들어갔다.
  2. 왕은 자리에서 일어나 옷을 찢고 땅에 쓰러졌다. 곁에서 모시고 섰던 신하들도 다 옷을 찢었다.
  3. 이 때 다윗의 형 시므아의 아들 요나답이 말하였다. "임금님, 젊은 왕자들은 죽지 않았습니다. 죽은 것은 암논뿐입니다. 이것은 압살롬이 제 누이 다말이 암논에게 욕본 날부터 별러온 일입니다.
  4. 이제 임금님께서는 왕자들이 다 죽었다는 뜬소문에 상심하지 마십시오. 죽은 것은 암논 하나뿐입니다."
  5. 그 동안 압살롬은 도망쳐 버렸다. 한편 보초병 하나가 호로나임 쪽에서 많은 사람들이 산비탈을 타고 내려오는 것을 보고 왕에게 보고하였다. "호로나임 쪽에서 이쪽으로 달려오는 사람들이 있습니다."
  1. Jonadab said to the king, "See, the king's sons are here; it has happened just as your servant said."
  2. As he finished speaking, the king's sons came in, wailing loudly. The king, too, and all his servants wept very bitterly.
  3. Absalom fled and went to Talmai son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. But King David mourned for his son every day.
  4. After Absalom fled and went to Geshur, he stayed there three years.
  5. And the spirit of the king longed to go to Absalom, for he was consoled concerning Amnon's death.
  1. 그러자 요나답도 어전에 아뢰었다. "그것 보십시오. 소인이 말씀드린 대로 왕자들이 돌아오지 않습니까?"
  2. 그가 막 말을 하는데, 왕자들이 들어와 목놓아 울었다. 왕은 물론 함께 있던 신하들도 목이 메어 울었다.
  3. 왕은 아들 암논의 죽음을 두고두고 슬퍼하였다. 압살롬은 도망치는 길로 그술 왕 암미훗의 아들 탈매에게 몸을 맡기고
  4. 삼 년 동안 거기에 머물렀다.
  5. 왕은 암논이 죽었을 때 받은 아픔이 차츰 가시면서 압살롬에게 품었던 노기도 풀렸다.
