- When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
- Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
- They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
- All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
- Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.

- 마침내 오순절이 되어 신도들이 모두 한 곳에 모여 있었는데
- 갑자기 하늘에서 세찬 바람이 부는 듯한 소리가 들려오더니 그들이 앉아 있던 온 집안을 가득 채웠다.
- 그러자 혀 같은 것들이 나타나 불길처럼 갈라지며 각 사람 위에 내렸다.
- 그들의 마음은 성령으로 가득 차서 성령이 시키시는 대로 여러 가지 외국어로 말을 하기 시작하였다.
- 그 때 예루살렘에는 세계 각국에서 온 경건한 유다인들이 살고 있었다.

- When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
- Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
- Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?
- Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
- Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome

- 그 소리가 나자 많은 사람들이 몰려들었다. 그리고 사도들이 말하는 것이 사람들에게는 저마다 자기네 지방 말로 들리므로 모두 어리둥절해졌다.
- 그들은 놀라고 또 한편 신기하게 여기며 "지금 말하고 있는 저 사람들은 모두 갈릴래아 사람들이 아닌가!
- 그런데 우리는 저 사람들이 하는 말을 저마다 자기가 태어난 지방의 말로 듣고 있으니 어찌 된 셈인가?
- 이 가운데는 바르티아 사람, 메대 사람, 엘람 사람이 있는가 하면 메소포타미아, 유다, 갑바도기아, 본도, 아시아에서 온 사람들도 있고
- 프리기아, 밤필리아, 이집트, 또 키레네에 가까운 리비야의 여러 지방 사람들도 있다. 그리고 로마에서 나그네로 온

- (both Jews and converts to Judaism Cretans and Arabs--we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!"
- Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?"
- Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine."
- Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
- These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning!

- 유다인들과 유다교에 개종한 이방인들이 있고 그레데 사람들과 아라비아 사람들도 있다. 그런데 저 사람들이 지금 하느님께서 하신 큰 일들을 전하고 있는데 그것을 우리는 저마다 자기네 말로 듣고 있지 않은가?" 하고 말하였다.
- 이렇게 모두 놀라고 어안이 벙벙하여 "도대체 어찌 된 영문인가?" 하며 웅성거렸는데
- 그 중에는 "저 사람들이 술에 취했군!" 하고 빈정거리는 사람들도 있었다.
- 그 때 베드로가 다른 열한 사도들과 함께 일어서서 군중을 보고 큰소리로 이렇게 말했다. "유다 동포와 예루살렘 시민 여러분, 내가 하는 말을 귀담아듣고 잘 생각해 보십시오.
- 지금 시각이 아침 아홉 시인데 어떻게 술에 취했다고 생각하십니까? 이 사람들은 술에 취한 것이 아닙니다.

- No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
- " 'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
- Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
- I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
- The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

- 이것은 예언자 요엘이 예언한 대로 된 것입니다.
- '하느님께서 말씀하신다. 마지막 날에 나는 모든 사람에게 나의 성령을 부어주리니 너희 아들 딸들은 예언을 하고 젊은이들은 계시의 영상을 보며 늙은이들은 꿈을 꾸리라.
- 그 때에는 나의 남종에게도 여종에게도 나의 성령을 부어주리니 그들도 예언을 하리라.
- 나는 하늘 높은 곳에서 표징을 보이며 땅에서 기적을 행하리니 피와 불과 짙은 연기가 일고
- 해는 빛을 잃어 어두워지고 달은 피와 같이 붉어져 마침내 크고 영광스러운 주의 날이 오리라.

- And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'
- "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.
- This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
- But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.
- David said about him: " 'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

- 그 때 주의 이름을 부르는 자는 구원을 받으리라.'
- 이스라엘 동포 여러분, 내 말을 들으시오. 나자렛 예수는 하느님께로부터 오신 분이었습니다. 하느님께서는 이것을 분명히 보여주시려고 여러분이 보는 앞에서 그분을 통하여 여러 가지 기적과 놀라운 일과 표징을 나타내셨습니다. 이 사실은 여러분이 잘 알고 있습니다.
- 그런데 하느님께서 미리 정하신 뜻과 계획에 따라 여러분의 손에 넘어간 이 예수를 여러분은 악인들의 손을 빌려 십자가에 못박아 죽였던 것입니다.
- 그러나 하느님께서는 그분을 되살리시고 죽음의 고통에서 풀어주셨습니다. 예수께서는 죽음의 세력에 사로잡혀 계실 분이 아닙니다.
- 그분에 관해서 다윗은 이렇게 말하였습니다. '주께서 내 오른편에 계시오니 나는 항상 주님을 가까이 뵈오며 내 마음은 흔들리지 않습니다.

- Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope,
- because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
- You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.'
- "Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.
- But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.

- 그러기에 내 마음은 기쁨에 넘치고 내 혀는 즐거워 노래하며 이 육신마저 희망 속에 살 것입니다.
- 당신은 내 영혼을 죽음의 세계에 버려두지 않으시고 당신의 거룩한 종을 썩지 않게 지켜주실 것입니다.
- 당신은 나에게 생명의 길을 보여주셨으니 나는 당신을 모시고 언제나 기쁨에 넘칠 것입니다.'
- 형제 여러분, 나는 여러분에게 우리의 선조이신 다윗에 관해서 분명히 말씀 드려야겠습니다. 그는 죽어서 묻혔고 그의 무덤은 오늘날까지 우리 땅에 남아 있습니다.
- 다윗은 예언자로서 하느님께서 자기 후손 가운데 한 사람을 자기 왕좌에 앉혀주시겠다고 하신 맹세를 알고 있었습니다.

- Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay.
- God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.
- Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
- For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, " 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand
- until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." '

- 그리고 그리스도의 부활을 내다보며, '하느님께서는 그를 죽음의 세계에 버려두지 않으시고 그의 몸을 썩지 않게 하셨습니다.' 하고 말하였습니다.
- 바로 이 예수를 하느님께서 다시 살리셨으며 우리는 다 그 증인입니다.
- 하느님께서는 이 예수를 높이 올려 당신의 오른편에 앉히시고 약속하신 성령을 주셨습니다. 예수께서는 아버지께로부터 받은 성령을 지금 여러분이 보고 듣는 대로 우리에게 부어주셨습니다.
- 다윗은 하늘에 올라가지 못했으나, 그는 '주 하느님께서 내 주님께
- 내가 네 원수들을 네 발 아래 굴복시킬 때까지 너는 내 오른편에 앉아 있으라고 하셨다.'라고 말하였습니다.

- "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

- 그러므로 이스라엘의 온 백성은 분명히 알아두시오. 여러분이 십자가에 못박아 죽인 이 예수를 하느님께서는 우리의 주님이 되게 하셨고 그리스도가 되게 하셨습니다."
