열왕기상 3:1-4:34

 일천 번제를 드리며 헌신을 다짐하는 솔로몬에게 하나님께서는 그가 구한 지혜와 함께 부와 영광도 주셨다. 솔로몬은 인재를 등용해 신하로 삼고 각지방을 다스리는 12장관을 세움으로써 평화롭고 부강한 왕국을 이루어 나갔다. 이러한 솔로몬의 지혜와 부요함은 세상에 널리 알려졌다.
  
  솔로몬의 지혜(3:1-3:28)    
 
  1. Solomon made an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt and married his daughter. He brought her to the City of David until he finished building his palace and the temple of the LORD, and the wall around Jerusalem.
  2. The people, however, were still sacrificing at the high places, because a temple had not yet been built for the Name of the LORD.
  3. Solomon showed his love for the LORD by walking according to the statutes of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.
  4. The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
  5. At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you."
  1. 솔로몬은 이집트의 임금 파라오와 결혼 동맹을 맺었다. 그는 파라오의 딸을 맞이하여, 자기의 궁과 야훼의 전과 예루살렘의 성곽을 다 짓기까지 그 아내를 다윗 성에 두었다.
  2. 국민은 아직 야훼의 이름으로 부를 전이 지어지지 않았기 때문에 산당에서 제사를 드렸다.
  3. 솔로몬은 야훼를 사랑하였고 그의 아버지 다윗의 법도를 따라 살았다. 다만 한 가지, 그는 산당에서 제사하고 향을 피웠다.
  4. 기브온에는 큰 산당이 하나 있었는데 솔로몬은 늘 그리로 가서 제사를 드렸다. 솔로몬은 그 제단에 번제물을 천 마리나 바친 적이 있다.
  5. 야훼께서 그 날 밤 기브온에 와 있던 솔로몬의 꿈에 나타나셨다. 하느님께서 "내가 너에게 무엇을 해주면 좋겠느냐?" 하고 물으셨다.
  1. Solomon answered, "You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
  2. "Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.
  3. Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number.
  4. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?"
  5. The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this.
  1. 솔로몬이 대답하였다. "당신께서는 저의 아버지인 당신의 종 다윗에게 한결같은 은혜를 베푸셨습니다. 제 아버지가 당신의 면전에서 성실하고 올바르게, 또 당신을 향한 일편단심으로 살았다고 하여 당신께서는 그에게 한결같은 은혜를 베푸셨고 또 오늘 그에게 주신 이 아들로 하여금 그의 왕좌에 앉게 하셨습니다.
  2. 나의 하느님 야훼여, 당신께서는 소인을 제 아버지 다윗을 이어 왕으로 삼으셨습니다만 저는 어린 아이에 지나지 않으므로 어떻게 처신하여야 할지를 알지 못합니다.
  3. 그런데 소인은 수도 헤아릴 수 없이 많은 당신의 백성 가운데서 살고 있는 몸입니다.
  4. 그러하오니 소인에게 명석한 머리를 주시어 당신의 백성을 다스릴 수 있고 흑백을 잘 가려낼 수 있게 해주십시오. 감히 그 누가 당신의 이 큰 백성을 다스릴 수 있겠습니까?"
  5. 이러한 솔로몬의 청이 야훼의 마음에 들었다.
  1. So God said to him, "Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice,
  2. I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.
  3. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for--both riches and honor--so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings.
  4. And if you walk in my ways and obey my statutes and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life."
  5. Then Solomon awoke--and he realized it had been a dream. He returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the Lord's covenant and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then he gave a feast for all his court.
  1. 그래서 하느님께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "네가 장수나 부귀나 원수 갚는 것을 청하지 아니하고 이렇게 옳은 것을 가려내는 머리를 달라고 하니
  2. 자, 내가 네 말대로 해주리라. 이제 너는 슬기롭고 명석하게 되었다. 너 같은 사람은 전에도 없었고 앞으로도 없으리라.
  3. 뿐만 아니라 네가 청하지 않은 것, 부귀와 명예도 주리라. 네 평생에 너와 비교될 만한 왕을 보지 못할 것이다.
  4. 네가 만일 네 아비 다윗이 내 길을 따라 살았듯이 내 길을 따라 살아 내 법도와 내 계명을 지킨다면 네 수명도 길게 해주리라."
  5. 솔로몬이 깨어보니 꿈이었다. 그는 예루살렘으로 가서 야훼의 계약궤 앞에 나아가 서서 번제와 친교제를 드리고 또 모든 신하들에게 잔치를 베풀어주었다.
  1. Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.
  2. One of them said, "My lord, this woman and I live in the same house. I had a baby while she was there with me.
  3. The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us.
  4. "During the night this woman's son died because she lay on him.
  5. So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast.
  1. 그런데 창녀 둘이 왕에게 나와 섰다.
  2. 그 가운데 한 여자가 말을 꺼냈다. "임금님, 이 여자와 저는 한 집에 살고 있습니다. 제가 아이를 낳을 때에 이 여자도 집에 있었습니다.
  3. 그런데 제가 해산한 지 사흘째 되던 날 이 여자도 아이를 낳았습니다. 집에는 우리 둘만 있었습니다.
  4. 그런데 그 날 밤, 이 여자는 자기의 아들을 깔아 뭉개어 죽였습니다.
  5. 그리고 나서 이 여자는 한밤중에 일어나 이 계집종이 잠자는 사이에 제 곁에 있던 제 아들을 가져가 버렸습니다. 제 아들을 가져다 자기 품에 두고 죽은 자기 아들을 제 품에 놓고 간 것입니다.
  1. The next morning, I got up to nurse my son--and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn't the son I had borne."
  2. The other woman said, "No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours." But the first one insisted, "No! The dead one is yours; the living one is mine." And so they argued before the king.
  3. The king said, "This one says, 'My son is alive and your son is dead,' while that one says, 'No! Your son is dead and mine is alive.' "
  4. Then the king said, "Bring me a sword." So they brought a sword for the king.
  5. He then gave an order: "Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other."
  1. 제가 아침에 일어나 젖을 먹이려다 보니 아이는 죽어 있었습니다. 날이 밝아서야 그 아이가 제 몸에서 난 아이가 아닌 것을 알았습니다."
  2. 그러자 다른 여자가 "무슨 말을 하느냐? 산 아이는 내 아이이고 죽은 아이가 네 아이야." 하고 우겼다. 첫 번째 여자도 "천만에! 죽은 아이가 네 아이이고 산 아이는 내 아이야." 하고 우겼다. 그렇게 그들은 왕 앞에서 말싸움을 벌였다.
  3. 그 때 왕이 입을 열었다. "한 사람은 '산 이 아이가 내 아들이고 네 아들은 죽었다.' 하고 또 한 사람은 '아니다. 네 아들은 죽었고 내 아들이 산 아이다.' 하는구나."
  4. 그러면서 왕은 칼 하나를 가져오라고 하였다. 신하들이 왕 앞으로 칼을 내오자
  5. 왕은 명령을 내렸다. "그 산 아이를 둘로 나누어 반쪽은 이 여자에게 또 반쪽은 저 여자에게 주어라."
  1. The woman whose son was alive was filled with compassion for her son and said to the king, "Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don't kill him!" But the other said, "Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!"
  2. Then the king gave his ruling: "Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother."
  3. When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.
  1. 그러자 산 아이의 어머니는 제 자식을 생각하여 가슴이 메어지는 듯하여 왕에게 아뢰었다. "임금님, 산 아이를 저 여자에게 주시고 아이를 죽이지만은 마십시오." 그러나 다른 여자는 "어차피 내 아이도 네 아이도 아니니 나누어갖자." 하였다.
  2. 그러자 왕의 분부가 떨어졌다. "산 아이를 죽이지 말고 처음 여자에게 내주어라. 그가 참 어머니다."
  3. 온 이스라엘이 왕의 이 판결 소식을 들었다. 그리고 왕에게 하느님의 슬기가 있어 정의를 베푼다는 것을 알고는 모두들 왕을 두려워하게 되었다.
 
  솔로몬의 번영(4:1-4:34)    
 
  1. So King Solomon ruled over all Israel.
  2. And these were his chief officials: Azariah son of Zadok--the priest;
  3. Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha--secretaries; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud-recorder;
  4. Benaiah son of Jehoiada--commander in chief; Zadok and Abiathar-priests;
  5. Azariah son of Nathan--in charge of the district officers; Zabud son of Nathan--a priest and personal adviser to the king;
  1. 솔로몬 왕이 온 이스라엘을 다스릴 당시에
  2. 그의 고급 관리들은 다음과 같았다. 사독의 아들 아자리야는 사제,
  3. 시사의 두 아들 엘리호렙과 아히야는 행정관, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 공보대신,
  4. 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 군사령관, 사독과 에비아달은 사제,
  5. 나단의 아들 아자리야는 장교를 지휘하는 사람, 나단의 아들 사붓은 왕의 친구로서 사제,
  1. Ahishar--in charge of the palace; Adoniram son of Abda--in charge of forced labor.
  2. Solomon also had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year.
  3. These are their names: Ben-Hur--in the hill country of Ephraim;
  4. Ben-Deker--in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh and Elon Bethhanan;
  5. Ben-Hesed--in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher were his
  1. 아히살은 궁내대신, 압다의 아들 아도니람은 부역 책임자였다.
  2. 솔로몬은 또 이스라엘 전국에 십이 지방장관을 두어 왕과 왕실에 양식을 대도록 하였다. 한 사람이 일 년에 한 달씩 양식을 대는 책임을 졌는데,
  3. 그들의 명단은 다음과 같았다. 후르의 아들이 에브라임 산악 지대를 맡았고,
  4. 데겔의 아들이 마가스, 사알빔, 벳세메스, 엘론 벳 하난을,
  5. 헤셋의 아들이 아루봇, 소고, 헤벨 전지역을,
  1. Ben-Abinadab--in Naphoth Dor (he was married to Taphath daughter of Solomon
  2. Baana son of Ahilud--in Taanach and Megiddo, and in all of Beth Shan next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah across to Jokmeam;
  3. Ben-Geber--in Ramoth Gilead (the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the district of Argob in Bashan and its sixty large walled cities with bronze gate bars
  4. Ahinadab son of Iddo--in Mahanaim;
  5. Ahimaaz--in Naphtali (he had married Basemath daughter of Solomon
  1. 솔로몬의 딸 다밧을 아내로 맞아 부마가 된 아비나답의 아들이 나밧, 도르 전지역을,
  2. 아힐룻의 아들 바아나가 다아낙, 므기또, 욕므암 건너편 일대, 이즈르엘에서 내려다보이는 벳스안 전지역과 또 벳스안에서 사르단 곁에 있는 아벨므홀라에 이르기까지,
  3. 게벨의 아들이 라못길르앗을 맡았다. 또 그는 길르앗에 있는 므나쎄의 아들 야이르의 성읍들을 소유했고 바산에 있는 아르곱 지역의 놋빗장과 성곽 있는 육십 성읍을 소유하였다.
  4. 이또의 아들 아히나답이 마하나임을 맡았고
  5. 솔로몬의 딸 바세맛과 결혼한 아히마즈가 납달리를,
  1. Baana son of Hushai--in Asher and in Aloth;
  2. Jehoshaphat son of Paruah--in Issachar;
  3. Shimei son of Ela--in Benjamin;
  4. Geber son of Uri--in Gilead (the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and the country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district.
  5. The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy.
  1. 후새의 아들 바아나가 아셀과 브알롯을,
  2. 바루아의 아들 여호사밧이 이싸갈을,
  3. 엘라의 아들 시므이가 베냐민을,
  4. 우리의 아들 게벨이 길르앗 땅, 곧 아모리 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥의 땅을 맡았다. 또 유다 땅을 맡은 관리도 따로 있었다.
  5. 유다와 이스라엘은 바다의 모래알처럼 인구가 불어났지만 먹고 마시는 일에 아쉬움을 모르며 잘 지냈다.
  1. And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon's subjects all his life.
  2. Solomon's daily provisions were thirty cors of fine flour and sixty cors of meal,
  3. ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl.
  4. For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace on all sides.
  5. During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, each man under his own vine and fig tree.
  1. Solomon had four thousand stalls for chariot horses, and twelve thousand horses.
  2. The district officers, each in his month, supplied provisions for King Solomon and all who came to the king's table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking.
  3. They also brought to the proper place their quotas of barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses.
  4. God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.
  5. Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.
  1. He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite--wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.
  2. He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five.
  3. He described plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also taught about animals and birds, reptiles and fish.
  4. Men of all nations came to listen to Solomon's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.
