열왕기상 9:1-10:29

 하나님께서는 다시 솔로몬에게 임하셔서 다윗 언약을 상기시켜 주셨고, 하나님의 지혜를 얻은 솔로몬은 건축 사업과 대외 무역을 통해 부와 번영을 이루었다. 그의 명성은 이방 세계까지 널리 알려졌으며, 이를 확인하고자 방문한 스바 여왕은 그의 지혜와 부귀 영화에 탄복하였다.
  
  하나님의 언약과 건축 사업(9:1-9:28)    
 
  1. When Solomon had finished building the temple of the LORD and the royal palace, and had achieved all he had desired to do,
  2. the LORD appeared to him a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.
  3. The LORD said to him: "I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.
  4. "As for you, if you walk before me in integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws,
  5. I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father when I said, 'You shall never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.'
  1. 솔로몬이 계획했던 대로 야훼의 전과 왕궁과 그 밖의 다른 모든 건물을 완공한 다음이었다.
  2. 야훼께서 기브온에서 나타나셨던 것처럼 솔로몬에게 두 번째 나타나시어
  3. 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "나는 네가 나에게 한 간절한 기도를 모두 들었다. 네가 세운 이 전을 성별하여 영원히 나의 것으로 삼으리니 장차 내 눈과 내 마음을 영원히 그 곳에 두리라.
  4. 네가 네 아비 다윗처럼 충성스런 마음으로 내 앞에서 바르게 살고 내가 일러준 모든 계명을 지켜 나가며 내 법과 의식을 따르면
  5. 나는 이스라엘을 다스리는 너의 왕좌를 영원히 지켜주리라. 내가 네 아비 다윗에게 이미 약속한 대로 너의 자손이 끊이지 아니하고 이스라엘 왕좌에 앉게 하리라.
  1. "But if you or your sons turn away from me and do not observe the commands and decrees I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them,
  2. then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. Israel will then become a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples.
  3. And though this temple is now imposing, all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff and say, 'Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?'
  4. People will answer, 'Because they have forsaken the LORD their God, who brought their fathers out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them--that is why the LORD brought all this disaster on them.' "
  5. At the end of twenty years, during which Solomon built these two buildings--the temple of the LORD and the royal palace-
  1. 만일 너나 너의 자손이 나를 따르지 아니하고 등을 돌리거나 내가 너에게 일러준 명령과 법을 지키지 아니하고 다른 신을 받들어 섬기거나 예배하면
  2. 나는 내가 준 땅에서 이스라엘을 끊을 것이고, 성별하여 나의 것으로 삼은 이 전을 내 앞에서 버릴 것이다. 그러면 이스라엘은 여러 나라들 사이에서 한갓 속담거리와 웃음거리가 되고 말리라.
  3. 그리고 이 전은 돌무더기가 되어 지나가는 사람마다 놀라고 쉬쉬하며 이렇게 물을 것이다. '어찌하여 야훼께서 이 땅과 이 전을 이처럼 황폐하게 하셨을까?'
  4. 그러면 누군가가 대답하리라. '자기네 조상을 이집트에서 구출해 내신 자기네 조상의 하느님 야훼를 저버리고 다른 신에게 홀려서 그를 예배하고 섬겼기 때문이지. 그래서 야훼께서는 이 온갖 재앙을 그들 위에 내리셨다네.'"
  5. 솔로몬이 야훼의 전과 왕궁, 이 두 건물을 건축하는 데는 이십여 년이 걸렸다.
  1. King Solomon gave twenty towns in Galilee to Hiram king of Tyre, because Hiram had supplied him with all the cedar and pine and gold he wanted.
  2. But when Hiram went from Tyre to see the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleased with them.
  3. "What kind of towns are these you have given me, my brother?" he asked. And he called them the Land of Cabul, a name they have to this day.
  4. Now Hiram had sent to the king 120 talents of gold.
  5. Here is the account of the forced labor King Solomon conscripted to build the LORD's temple, his own palace, the supporting terraces, the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, Megiddo and Gezer.
  1. 띠로 왕 히람은 솔로몬이 요청한 대로 송백나무와 전나무 재목과 금을 보내 왔다. 솔로몬은 갈릴리 지방의 성읍 이십 개를 히람 왕에게 떼어주었다.
  2. 히람은 띠로로부터 와서 솔로몬이 내어준 성읍을 보았으나 마음에 차지 않았다.
  3. 그는 이렇게 말하였다고 전해진다. "나의 형제여, 당신이 나에게 준 성읍들이 이게 뭡니까?" 그래서 이 날까지 이 지방은 가불의 땅이라 불리고 있다.
  4. 히람은 금 백이십 달란트를 솔로몬 왕에게 보냈다.
  5. 솔로몬 왕은 야훼의 전과 자신이 살 궁전과 밀로 궁을 짓고 그리고 예루살렘 성을 쌓고 하솔, 므기또, 게젤을 증축하기 위하여 강제 노역을 시켰는데 그 기록은 다음과 같다.
  1. (Pharaoh king of Egypt had attacked and captured Gezer. He had set it on fire. He killed its Canaanite inhabitants and then gave it as a wedding gift to his daughter, Solomon's wife.
  2. And Solomon rebuilt Gezer.) He built up Lower Beth Horon,
  3. Baalath, and Tadmor in the desert, within his land,
  4. as well as all his store cities and the towns for his chariots and for his horses --whatever he desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon and throughout all the territory he ruled.
  5. All the people left from the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites (these peoples were not Israelites),
  1. 이집트의 왕 파라오는 게젤을 쳐들어가 빼앗았을 때 성읍에 불을 지르고 그 곳에 살던 가나안 사람들을 살해하였다. 파라오 왕은 그의 딸인 공주를 솔로몬에게 시집보내면서 이 게젤 성을 결혼 선물로 주었는데
  2. 솔로몬이 이 게젤 성을 재건하였던 것이다. 솔로몬은 벳호론 남부를 재건하였다.
  3. 또 광야에 바알랏과 다말을 다시 세웠다.
  4. 또한 솔로몬은 왕실 양곡을 저장해 두는 성과 병거대와 군마를 위한 성들을 세웠다. 뿐만 아니라 예루살렘과 레바논을 비롯하여 그의 전 영토 안에 그가 계획했던 모든 것을 세웠다.
  5. 이스라엘 백성이 아닌 아모리 사람, 헷 사람, 브리즈 사람, 히위 사람, 그리고 여부스 사람들 중에서 살아 남은 자들이 있었는데,
  1. that is, their descendants remaining in the land, whom the Israelites could not exterminate --these Solomon conscripted for his slave labor force, as it is to this day.
  2. But Solomon did not make slaves of any of the Israelites; they were his fighting men, his government officials, his officers, his captains, and the commanders of his chariots and charioteers.
  3. They were also the chief officials in charge of Solomon's projects--550 officials supervising the men who did the work.
  4. After Pharaoh's daughter had come up from the City of David to the palace Solomon had built for her, he constructed the supporting terraces.
  5. Three times a year Solomon sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings on the altar he had built for the LORD, burning incense before the LORD along with them, and so fulfilled the temple obligations.
  1. 그들은 이스라엘 백성들이 다 죽일 수 없었으므로 그 땅에 남겨 두었던 사람들의 후손이다. 솔로몬은 그들을 강제 노역에 동원시켰다. 그래서 그들은 오늘날까지도 노예로 남아 있다.
  2. 그러나 솔로몬은 이스라엘 백성 중에서는 한 사람도 강제 노역에 동원시키지 않았다. 이스라엘 사람들은 군인, 친위대, 지휘관, 대장, 병거대와 기마대의 지휘관 일을 해야 했기 때문이다.
  3. 솔로몬이 일으킨 모든 공사에 동원된 책임자만 오백오십 명이나 있었다.
  4. 솔로몬은 파라오의 딸을 위하여 따로 궁을 세운 후 그를 다윗 성에서 데리고 올라와 그 궁에 살게 하였다. 솔로몬이 밀로 궁을 건축한 것은 그 때였다.
  5. 솔로몬은 그가 야훼께 지어 바친 제단 위에서 번제와 친교제를 일 년에 세 차례 드렸고 야훼 앞에서 분향제도 올렸다. 이리하여 솔로몬은 성전 공사를 모두 마쳤다.
  1. King Solomon also built ships at Ezion Geber, which is near Elath in Edom, on the shore of the Red Sea.
  2. And Hiram sent his men--sailors who knew the sea--to serve in the fleet with Solomon's men.
  3. They sailed to Ophir and brought back 420 talents of gold, which they delivered to King Solomon.
  1. 솔로몬 왕은 또 에돔 땅의 홍해 바닷가, 엘랏 근방에 있는 에시욘게벨에다 상선대를 창설하였다.
  2. 히람은 자기 수하에 있던 노련한 선원들을 보내어 그 상선대에서 솔로몬의 선원들과 함께 일하게 하였다.
  3. 그 상선들은 오빌 지방으로 가서 금 사백이십 달란트를 실어 와 솔로몬에게 바쳤다.
 
  스바 여왕의 방문(10:1-10:13)    
 
  1. When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relation to the name of the LORD, she came to test him with hard questions.
  2. Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan--with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones--she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind.
  3. Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her.
  4. When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built,
  5. the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the LORD, she was overwhelmed.
  1. 세바라는 곳에 여왕이 있었는데 솔로몬의 명성을 듣고는 그를 시험해 보려고 아주 어려운 문제를 준비하여 방문 온 일이 있었다.
  2. 여왕은 예루살렘을 방문할 때 많은 시종들을 거느리고 왔을 뿐 아니라 각종 향료와 엄청나게 많은 금과 보석을 낙타에 싣고 왔다. 여왕은 솔로몬 왕을 만나자 미리 생각하였던 문제들을 모두 물어보았다.
  3. 솔로몬은 여왕의 질문에 하나도 막히지 않고 다 대답해 주었다.
  4. 세바의 여왕은 솔로몬이 모든 지혜를 갖추고 있는 것을 알고 또 그가 세워놓은 전을 보고는 넋을 잃을 정도로 감탄하였다.
  5. 세바의 여왕은 왕의 식탁의 음식, 조신들의 배석, 제복을 입은 시종들의 도열, 술을 따르는 시종들, 또 왕이 야훼의 전에서 드리는 번제를 보고서 찬탄해 마지않으며
  1. She said to the king, "The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true.
  2. But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth you have far exceeded the report I heard.
  3. How happy your men must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!
  4. Praise be to the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD's eternal love for Israel, he has made you king, to maintain justice and righteousness."
  5. And she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones. Never again were so many spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
  1. 왕에게 말하였다. "당신과 당신의 지혜에 대한 소문은 내가 이미 우리 나라에서 듣고 있었습니다만 과연 사실이군요.
  2. 이렇게 와서 내 눈으로 직접 보기 전까지는 그 이야기가 하나도 믿어지지 않았습니다. 그러나 내가 들은 이야기는 이제 보니 사실의 절반도 못 되는 것이었습니다. 당신의 지혜와 번영은 내가 듣던 소문보다 훨씬 더 뛰어나십니다.
  3. 당신을 모시는 부인들이야말로 행복한 여인들입니다. 언제나 당신 앞에 서서 당신의 지혜로운 말씀을 듣는 신하들이야말로 행복한 사람들입니다.
  4. 당신으로 인하여 기뻐하시어 당신을 이스라엘의 왕좌에 앉히신 당신의 하느님 야훼께 찬미를 올립니다. 야훼께서는 이스라엘을 영원히 사랑하셔서 당신을 왕으로 삼아 법과 정의를 세우게 하셨습니다."
  5. 여왕은 금 백이십 달란트와 많은 향료와 보석을 솔로몬 왕에게 선물하였다. 솔로몬 왕은 세바의 여왕에게 선물받은 것만큼 많은 향료는 두 번 다시 받아보지 못하였다.
  1. (Hiram's ships brought gold from Ophir; and from there they brought great cargoes of almugwood and precious stones.
  2. The king used the almugwood to make supports for the temple of the LORD and for the royal palace, and to make harps and lyres for the musicians. So much almugwood has never been imported or seen since that day.)
  3. King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for, besides what he had given her out of his royal bounty. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.
  1. 오빌 지방에서 금을 실어 오던 히람의 상선대는 이번에는 굉장히 많은 오동나무와 보석을 운반해 왔다.
  2. 왕은 이 오동나무로 야훼의 전과 왕궁의 난간을 만들고 노래에 맞추어 뜯을 수금과 거문고를 만들기도 하였다. 오동나무가 이렇게 들어온 것은 처음이자 마지막 일이었다.
  3. 솔로몬 왕은 세바의 여왕에게 관례에 의한 답례물 이외에도 여왕이 요청한 것을 모두 주었다. 여왕은 시종들을 거느리고 자기 나라로 돌아갔다.
 
  솔로몬의 부와 영화(10:14-10:29)    
 
  1. The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents,
  2. not including the revenues from merchants and traders and from all the Arabian kings and the governors of the land.
  3. King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred bekas of gold went into each shield.
  4. He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold, with three minas of gold in each shield. The king put them in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.
  5. Then the king made a great throne inlaid with ivory and overlaid with fine gold.
  1. 일 년간 솔로몬이 수입한 금은 육백육십육 달란트나 되었다.
  2. 관세 수입금과 외국과의 무역에서 벌어들인 이익금과 아라비아 여러 왕과 국내의 지방장관들에게서 들어오는 것을 제외하고 그렇게 되었다.
  3. 솔로몬 왕은 금을 입힌 대형 방패를 이백 개 만들었는데 방패 하나에 금 육백 세겔이 들었다.
  4. 또 금을 입힌 소형 방패를 삼백 개 만들었는데 방패 하나에 금이 삼 미나 들었다. 왕은 이 방패들을 레바논 수풀궁에 보관하였다.
  5. 왕은 또 상아로 대형 옥좌를 만들고 순금을 입혔다.
  1. The throne had six steps, and its back had a rounded top. On both sides of the seat were armrests, with a lion standing beside each of them.
  2. Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like it had ever been made for any other kingdom.
  3. All King Solomon's goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon's days.
  4. The king had a fleet of trading ships at sea along with the ships of Hiram. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons.
  5. King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.
  1. 그 옥좌에는 계단이 여섯 개 있었고 옥좌 뒤에는 송아지의 머리가 붙어 있었으며 옥좌 양편에는 팔걸이가 있었고 양 팔걸이 옆에는 사자 두 마리가 세워져 있었다.
  2. 여섯 계단 양쪽에는 사자가 세워져 있었는데 한 쪽에 여섯 마리씩, 모두 열두 마리가 서 있었다. 이와 같은 옥좌는 일찍이 어느 나라에서도 만들지 못한 것이었다.
  3. 솔로몬 왕의 술잔은 모두 금으로 만들었고 레바논의 수풀궁에 있는 모든 집기도 순금으로 만들어진 것이었다. 은으로 만든 것은 하나도 없었다. 솔로몬 시대에는 은을 귀금속으로 생각하지도 않았기 때문이다.
  4. 또 왕은 다르싯 상선대를 조직하여 히람 상선대와 함께 해상 무역에 종사토록 하였다. 다르싯 상선대로 금, 은, 상아, 원숭이, 공작새 등을 해외에서 한 번 실어 오는 데 삼 년이 걸렸다.
  5. 솔로몬 왕은 땅 위의 어느 왕도 따를 수 없을 만큼 부유하고 지혜로웠다.
  1. The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.
  2. Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift--articles of silver and gold, robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.
  3. Solomon accumulated chariots and horses; he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horses, which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.
  4. The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.
  5. Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue --the royal merchants purchased them from Kue.
  1. 그리하여 하느님께 받은 솔로몬의 지혜로운 생각을 듣고자 하여 세계 각처에서 사람들이 솔로몬 왕을 찾아왔다.
  2. 찾아오는 자마다 빈손으로 오지 않고 은집기, 금집기, 옷, 갑옷, 향료, 말, 노새 등을 예물로 가져왔는데 찾는 자가 매년 그치지 않았다.
  3. 솔로몬이 병거와 말을 사 모으다 보니 병거가 천사백 대, 군마는 만 이천 마리가 되었다. 그는 이 병력의 일부는 병거주둔성에 배치하고 일부는 왕이 있는 예루살렘에 배치하였다.
  4. 예루살렘에서는 은이 마치 돌멩이처럼 흔하게 되었고 송백은 야산 지대의 돌무화과나무만큼이나 많아졌다. 이것은 모두 왕의 덕분이었다.
  5. 솔로몬은 왕실 소속 무역상들을 시켜 길리기아와 큐에로부터 말을 수입하였다.
  1. They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. They also exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and of the Arameans.
  1. 병거와 말은 이집트에서 수입했는데 가격은 병거 한 대에 은 육백 세겔, 말 한 마리에 은 백오십 세겔이었다. 이와 같은 방식으로 왕실 소속 무역상들을 통하여 헷 왕들과 시리아 왕들에게 병거와 말을 수출하였다.
