- Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--
- for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
- Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.
- But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
- Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.

- 한 사람이 죄를 지어 이 세상에 죄가 들어왔고 죄는 또한 죽음을 불러들인 것같이 모든 사람이 죄를 지어 죽음이 온 인류에게 미치게 되었습니다.
- 율법을 주시기 전에도 죄는 세상에 있었습니다. 다만 율법이 없었기 때문에 그 죄가 법의 다스림을 받지 않았을 뿐입니다.
- 그러나 죽음은 아담으로부터 모세에 이르기까지 모든 사람을 지배하였는데 아담이 지은 것과 같은 죄를 짓지 않은 사람들까지도 그 지배를 받았습니다. 그런데 아담은 장차 오실 분의 원형이었습니다.
- 그러나 하느님께서 내리시는 은총의 경우와 아담이 지은 죄의 경우와는 전연 비교가 되지 않습니다. 아담의 범죄의 경우에는 그 한 사람 때문에 많은 사람이 죽었지만 하느님의 은총의 경우에는 예수 그리스도 한 사람의 덕분으로 많은 사람이 풍성한 은총을 거저 받았습니다. 그러니 하느님의 은총의 힘이 얼마나 더 큽니까!
- 하느님께서 거저 주시는 은총과 아담의 죄는 그 효과에 있어서 서로 비교가 되지 않습니다. 아담의 경우에는 그 한 사람 때문에 모든 사람이 유죄 판결의 심판을 받게 되었지만 은총의 경우에는 죄지은 많은 사람이 은총을 거저 입어 무죄 판결을 받았습니다.

- For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
- Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.
- For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
- The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
- so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

- 아담의 범죄의 경우에는 그 한 사람 때문에 죽음이 군림하게 되었습니다. 그러나 은총의 경우에는 한 사람 예수 그리스도의 공로로 풍성한 은총을 입어 하느님과 올바른 관계를 거저 얻은 사람들이 생명의 나라에서 왕노릇 할 것입니다. 그러니 하느님의 은총의 힘이 얼마나 더 큽니까!
- 그러므로 한 사람이 죄를 지어 모든 사람이 유죄 판결을 받은 것과는 달리 한 사람의 올바른 행위로 모든 사람이 무죄 판결을 받고 길이 살게 되었습니다.
- 한 사람의 불순종으로 많은 사람이 죄인이 된 것과는 달리 한 사람의 순종으로 많은 사람이 하느님과 올바른 관계를 가지게 될 것입니다.
- 법이 생겨서 범죄는 늘어났지만 죄가 많은 곳에는 은총도 풍성하게 내렸습니다.
- 그래서 죄는 세상에 군림하여 죽음을 가져다 주었지만 은총은 군림하여 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 모든 사람을 하느님과 올바른 관계에 있게 하고 영원한 생명에 이르게 합니다.
