- Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God in Corinth, together with all the saints throughout Achaia:
- Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
- who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
- For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

- 하느님의 뜻으로 그리스도 예수의 사도가 된 바울로와 교우 디모테오는 고린토에 있는 하느님의 교회와 온 아카이아에 있는 모든 성도들에게 이 편지를 씁니다.
- 하느님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도께서 은총과 평화를 여러분에게 내려주시기를 빕니다.
- 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지 하느님을 찬양합시다. 그분은 인자하신 아버지이시며 모든 위로의 근원이 되시는 하느님으로서
- 우리가 어떤 환난을 당하더라도 위로해 주시는 분이십니다. 따라서 그와 같이 하느님의 위로를 받는 우리는 온갖 환난을 당하는 다른 사람들을 또한 위로해 줄 수가 있습니다.
- 우리가 그리스도와 함께 당하는 고난이 많은 것처럼 그리스도로 말미암아 받는 위로도 많습니다.

- If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.
- And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
- We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.
- Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.
- He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,

- 우리가 환난을 당하는 것도 여러분이 위로와 구원을 받게 하려는 것이며 또 우리가 위로를 받는 것도 여러분이 우리가 겪는 것과 똑같은 환난을 당할 때에 그것을 견디어냄으로써 위로를 맛볼 수 있게 하려는 것입니다.
- 여러분은 그리스도의 고난을 같이 당하고 있으니 그의 위로도 같이 받을 것입니다. 이것을 알기 때문에 여러분을 믿는 우리의 마음이 든든합니다.
- 형제 여러분, 우리가 아시아에서 당한 환난이 어떠한 것이었는지를 알리려고 합니다. 그 환난은 우리의 힘으로는 도저히 견디어낼 수 없으리만큼 심해서 마침내 우리는 살 희망조차 잃게 되었습니다.
- 그러나 이렇게 사형 선고를 받았다는 생각이 들자 우리는 우리 자신을 믿지 않고 죽은 자를 다시 살리시는 하느님을 믿게 되었습니다.
- 하느님께서는 과연 그렇게 어려운 죽을 고비에서 우리를 건져내 주셨고 앞으로도 건져내 주실 것입니다. 이렇게 우리는 하느님께서 앞으로도 건져내 주시리라는 희망을 가지고 있습니다.

- as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.
- Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace.
- For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that,
- as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.

- 여러분은 기도로써 우리를 도와주십시오. 하느님께서 많은 사람의 기도를 들으시고 우리에게 축복을 내리실 것이며 그것을 보고 많은 사람이 하느님께 감사를 드리게 될 것입니다.
- 우리는 이 세상에서 특히 여러분을 대하면서 인간의 꾀를 부리지 않고 하느님의 은총으로 그분의 뜻을 따라 솔직하고도 진실하게 살아왔다는 것을 양심을 걸고 말할 수 있으며 또 이것을 자랑으로 여기고 있습니다.
- 우리는 이 편지를 쓸 때에도 사실을 사실대로 썼으므로 여러분은 그대로 읽고 그대로 알아들으시면 됩니다.
- 지금은 여러분이 우리를 부분적으로밖에 이해하지 못하지만 결국에는 완전히 이해하게 되기를 나는 바랍니다. 그래서 주 예수의 날에는 우리가 여러분을 자랑스럽게 여기듯이 여러분도 우리를 자랑스럽게 여겼으면 합니다.
