- Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you.
- Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.
- Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.
- Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.
- You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.

- 이번에는 부자들에게도 한마디 하겠습니다. 당신들에게 닥쳐올 비참한 일들을 생각하고 울며 통곡하십시오.
- 당신들의 재물은 썩었고 그 많은 옷가지들은 좀먹어 버렸습니다.
- 당신들의 금과 은은 녹이 슬었고 그 녹은 장차 당신들을 고발할 증거가 되며 불과 같이 당신들의 살을 삼켜버릴 것입니다. 당신들은 이와 같은 말세에도 재물을 쌓았습니다.
- 잘 들으시오. 당신들은 당신들의 밭에서 곡식을 거두어들인 일꾼들에게 품삯을 주지 않고 가로챘습니다. 그 품삯이 소리를 지르고 있습니다. 또 추수한 일꾼들의 아우성이 만군의 주님의 귀에 들렸습니다.
- 당신들은 이 세상에서 사치와 쾌락을 누리며 지냈고 도살당할 날을 눈앞에 두고도 마음은 욕심으로 가득 채웠습니다.

- You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you.
- Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains.
- You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near.
- Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
- Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

- 당신들은 죄없는 사람을 단죄하고 죽였습니다. 그러나 그는 당신들을 대항하지 않습니다.

- 여러분도 참고 기다리며 마음을 굳게 하십시오. 주님께서 오실 날이 가까이 왔습니다.
- 형제 여러분, 심판을 받지 않으려거든 서로 남을 탓하지 마십시오. 심판하실 분이 이미 문 앞에 서 계십니다.
- 형제 여러분, 고난을 참고 이겨낸 사람들의 본보기로서 주님의 말씀을 받아 전한 예언자들을 생각하십시오.

- As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
- Above all, my brothers, do not swear--not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned.
- Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.
- Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
- And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

- 우리는 끈기 있게 끝까지 견디어낸 사람들을 행복한 사람들이라고 생각합니다. 여러분은 욥이 끈기 있게 참아낸 이야기를 들었고 주님께서 지어주신 결말을 보았습니다. 주님께서 베푸시는 연민과 자비는 참으로 풍성합니다.
- 내 형제 여러분, 무엇보다도 명심할 것은 맹세하지 않아야 한다는 것입니다. 하늘이나 땅이나 그 밖에 무엇을 두고도 맹세하지 마십시오. 다만 "예." 할 것은 "예."라고만 하고 "아니오." 할 것은 "아니오."라고만 하십시오. 그래야 심판을 받지 않을 것입니다.
- 여러분 가운데 고난을 당하는 사람이 있으면 그 사람은 기도를 해야 합니다. 마음이 기쁜 사람은 찬양의 노래를 부르십시오.
- 여러분 가운데 앓는 사람이 있으면 그 사람은 교회의 원로들을 청하십시오. 원로들은 주님의 이름으로 그에게 기름을 바르고 그를 위하여 기도해 주어야 합니다.
- 믿고 구하는 기도는 앓는 사람을 낫게 할 것이며 주님께서 그를 일으켜주실 것입니다. 또 그가 지은 죄가 있으면 그 죄도 용서를 받을 것입니다.

- Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
- Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
- Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
- My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back,
- remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

- 그러므로 여러분은 서로 죄를 고백하고 서로 남을 위하여 기도하십시오. 그러면 모두 온전해질 것입니다. 올바른 사람의 간구는 큰 효과를 나타냅니다.
- 엘리야는 우리와 같은 인간이었지만 비가 오지 않게 간절히 기도하자 삼 년 육 개월 동안이나 땅에 비가 내리지 않았습니다.
- 그가 다시 기도하자 하늘은 비를 내렸고 땅에서는 곡식이 열매를 맺게 되었습니다.
- 나의 형제 여러분, 여러분 가운데 어떤 사람이 진리를 떠나 그릇된 길을 갈 때에 누가 그를 바른 길로 돌아서게 한다고 합시다.
- 그러면 죄인을 그릇된 길에서 돌아서게 한 그 사람은 그 죄인의 영혼을 죽음으로부터 구원할 것이고 또 많은 죄를 용서받게 해줄 것입니다. 이것을 알아두십시오.
