요엘

  본서는 유다에 임한 가뭄과 메뚜기 재앙을 통해 야웨의 심판하실 날이 임박했음을 선언하고 있으며, 전 인류에게 임할 오순절 성령 강림 사건을 명확하게 예언하고 있다.

  요엘은 메뚜기 재앙이 백성들의 죄와 불순종에서 왔음을 밝히고, 이는 장차 올 야웨의 심판의 전조임을 밝히면서 ‘야웨의 날’의 임박함을 선포하고 회개를 촉구하고 있다. 그리고 하나님께서 회개한 자들에게 성령을 부어 주셔서 하나님의 구원과 복을 누리게 될 것을 예언함으로써 그들에게 희망을 주고 있다.

 

 

요엘 1:1-2:17

 요엘은 유다 전역을 휩쓴 메뚜기 재앙이 하나님의 징계임을 알리면서 이 재앙으로 인해 온 유다 백성들과 자연이 받은 피해 상황을 자세히 묘사하였다. 그는 ‘야웨의 날’의 심판이 크고 심히 두렵다는 것과 그날이 임박했음을 말하면서 유다 백성들에게 금식과 마음을 찢는 회개를 요청하였다.
  
  메뚜기 재앙(1:1-1:20)    
 
  1. The word of the LORD that came to Joel son of Pethuel.
  2. Hear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your forefathers?
  3. Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.
  4. What the locust swarm has left the great locusts have eaten; what the great locusts have left the young locusts have eaten; what the young locusts have left other locusts have eaten.
  5. Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you drinkers of wine; wail because of the new wine, for it has been snatched from your lips.
  1. 브두엘의 아들 요엘에게 내린 야훼의 말씀.
  2. 늙은이들은 들어라. 이 땅의 주민들은 모두 귀를 기울여라. 너희 세대에 이런 일이 있었느냐? 너희 조상 적에 이런 일이 있었느냐?
  3. 이 일을 너희의 자녀들에게 일러라. 자녀들은 또 그 자녀들에게 그 자녀들은 또 그 다음 세대에 이르게 하여라.
  4. 풀무치가 남긴 것은 메뚜기가 갉아먹고 메뚜기가 남긴 것은 누리가 썰어먹고 누리가 남긴 것은 황충이가 탕쳐 먹었다.
  5. 포도주에 취한 자들아, 깨어 일어나 울며 통곡하여라. 술이 다 떨어지게 되었다.
  1. A nation has invaded my land, powerful and without number; it has the teeth of a lion, the fangs of a lioness.
  2. It has laid waste my vines and ruined my fig trees. It has stripped off their bark and thrown it away, leaving their branches white.
  3. Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth grieving for the husband of her youth.
  4. Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the house of the LORD. The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the LORD.
  5. The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up ; the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the oil fails.
  1. 수도 없이 많은 외국군이 내 나라에 쳐들어왔다. 그 이빨은 사자 이빨 같고 암사자의 송곳니 같은 것들이
  2. 내 포도원을 짓밟고 내 무화과 동산을 찍어내는데 껍질들을 하얗게 벗겨버리는구나.
  3. 약혼자의 죽음을 슬퍼하는 처녀처럼 상복을 입고 통곡하여라.
  4. 곡식도 포도주도 야훼의 성전에 드릴 것이 없어 야훼를 섬기는 사제들은 슬픔에 잠겼다.
  5. 들판은 망그러지고 밭은 메말랐다. 곡식은 다 떨어졌고 포도주는 바닥이 드러났으며 올리브 기름은 말라버렸다.
  1. Despair, you farmers, wail, you vine growers; grieve for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field is destroyed.
  2. The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree-- all the trees of the field--are dried up. Surely the joy of mankind is withered away.
  3. Put on sackcloth, O priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God.
  4. Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.
  5. Alas for that day! For the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.
  1. 기가 차느냐, 농부들아? 포도원을 가꾸던 자들아, 울어라. 밀이나 보리뿐이랴, 거두려던 곡식이 모조리 없어졌다.
  2. 포도덩굴은 마르고 무화과나무는 시들었다. 석류나무, 대추나무, 능금나무 할 것 없이 들판의 나무들은 모두 시들었다. 모든 사람에게서 기쁨은 사라졌다.
  3. 사제들아, 베옷을 걸치고 슬피 울어라. 제단에서 시중드는 자들아, 통곡하여라. 내 하느님께 시중드는 자들아, 와서 베옷을 걸치고 밤을 새워라. 너희 하느님의 전에 드릴 곡식도 포도주도 모두 떨어졌다.
  4. 단식을 선포하여라. 성회를 소집하여라. 장로들아, 전국민을 불러 너희 하느님 전에 모으고 야훼께 부르짖어라.
  5. 마침내 그 날이 오고야 말았구나. 야훼께서 거둥하실 날이 다가왔구나. 전능하신 하느님께서 마구 멸하실 날이 오고야 말았구나.
  1. Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes-- joy and gladness from the house of our God?
  2. The seeds are shriveled beneath the clods. The storehouses are in ruins, the granaries have been broken down, for the grain has dried up.
  3. How the cattle moan! The herds mill about because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
  4. To you, O LORD, I call, for fire has devoured the open pastures and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.
  5. Even the wild animals pant for you; the streams of water have dried up and fire has devoured the open pastures.
  1. 음식은 볼 수도 없이 되지 않았느냐? 우리 하느님의 전에서 기쁨과 즐거움이 사라지지 않았느냐?
  2. 흙이 말라 그 속에서 씨앗은 죽고 곡식이 없어 창고는 비고 곳간은 무너졌다.
  3. 목장이 없어져 가축들이 울부짖고 소떼들이 소란하다. 양떼라고 그 벌을 면할쏘냐?
  4. 야훼여, 내가 주께 부르짖습니다. 들판의 목장이 타버렸습니다. 벌판의 나무들도 모조리 타버렸습니다.
  5. 물줄기들은 모두 마르고 들판의 목장도 모두 타버려 가축들이 벌판에서 주께 부르짖습니다.
 
  야웨의 날(2:1-2:17)    
 
  1. Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand-
  2. a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was of old nor ever will be in ages to come.
  3. Before them fire devours, behind them a flame blazes. Before them the land is like the garden of Eden, behind them, a desert waste-- nothing escapes them.
  4. They have the appearance of horses; they gallop along like cavalry.
  5. With a noise like that of chariots they leap over the mountaintops, like a crackling fire consuming stubble, like a mighty army drawn up for battle.
  1. 시온에서 나팔을 불어라. 이 땅에 사는 모든 사람이 떨도록 나의 거룩한 산에서 경보를 울려라. 야훼께서 거둥하실 날이 왔다. 그 날이 다가오고 있다.
  2. 어둡고 음산한 날, 짙은 구름이 덮인 깜깜한 날, 산들이 까맣게 수도 없이 많은 무리가 덮쳐온다. 이런 일은 전에도 없었고 앞으로도 천만대에 이르도록 이런 일은 다시 없으리라.
  3. 그의 앞에서는 모든 것이 불타고 지나가신 뒤로는 불길이 일어 에덴 같던 땅도 한번 지나가시면, 그만 사막처럼 허허벌판이 되고 마는데 무엇이 살아 남으랴.
  4. 달려오는 그의 모습은 말과 같고 그의 군대는 기병대처럼 달려온다.
  5. 산등성이를 달려오는 소리는 병거 소리와도 같고 마른 풀에 불붙는 소리 같기도 하고 싸움터로 나가는 강한 군대 행렬 소리 같기도 하여,
  1. At the sight of them, nations are in anguish; every face turns pale.
  2. They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. They all march in line, not swerving from their course.
  3. They do not jostle each other; each marches straight ahead. They plunge through defenses without breaking ranks.
  4. They rush upon the city; they run along the wall. They climb into the houses; like thieves they enter through the windows.
  5. Before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
  1. 뭇 민족은 그 앞에서 떨며 낯빛이 창백해지는구나.
  2. 용사들처럼 돌진해 온다. 군인들처럼 성에 기어오른다. 모두가 전진할 뿐, 물러서는 자 하나 없다.
  3. 서로 부딪치지도 않고 곧장 앞으로 전진할 뿐, 화살이 빗발처럼 날아와도 멈추지 않고 그냥 나아갈 뿐이다.
  4. 성 안으로 쳐들어온다. 담장을 넘어 들어와, 도둑처럼 창문으로 기어든다.
  5. 그들 앞에서 땅은 뒤틀리고 하늘은 뒤흔들린다. 해와 달은 어두워지고 별들은 그 빛을 잃는다.
  1. The LORD thunders at the head of his army; his forces are beyond number, and mighty are those who obey his command. The day of the LORD is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?
  2. "Even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning."
  3. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
  4. Who knows? He may turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing-- grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God.
  5. Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly.
  1. 야훼께서 당신 군대를 호령하신다. 그의 군대는 크기도 하다. 그의 명령을 이루는 자 강하니 야훼께서 거둥하시는 날, 그 엄청난 날, 그 무서움을 누가 견디랴?
  2. "그러나 이제라도, 야훼의 말이다, 진심으로 뉘우쳐 나에게 돌아오너라. 단식하며 가슴을 치고 울어라."
  3. 옷만 찢지 말고 심장을 찢고 너희 하느님 야훼께 돌아오너라. 주는 가엾은 모습을 그냥 보지 못하시고 좀처럼 노여워하지도 않으신다. 사랑이 그지없으시어 벌하시다가도 쉬이 뉘우치신다.
  4. 혹시 마음을 돌이키시어 재앙을 거두시고 복을 내리실지 그 누가 알겠느냐? 너희 하느님 야훼께 바칠 곡식과 포도주를 내려주실지 그 누가 알겠느냐?
  5. 시온 산 위에서 나팔을 불어라. 단식을 선포하고 성회를 열어라.
  1. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.
  2. Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the temple porch and the altar. Let them say, "Spare your people, O LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?' "
  1. 백성을 불러모으고, 거룩한 대회를 열어라. 노인들을 불러모으고 어린이들을 모아들여라. 젖먹이도 오라고 하여라. 신혼 부부도 신방에서 나와 모이게 하여라.
  2. 성전 현관과 제단 사이를 오가며 야훼를 섬기는 사제들아, 울며 빌어라. "야훼여, 당신의 백성을 불쌍히 여겨주십시오. 당신의 유산으로 삼으신 이 백성이 남에게 욕을 당하지 않게 하시고 '너희 하느님이 어찌 되었느냐?'며 손가락질받지 않게 하여주십시오."
