창세기 25:1-26:22

 아브라함은 175세에 죽어 막벨라 굴에 장사되었다. 리브가는 쌍동이를 낳았는데, 장자 에서는 자신의 장자권을 동생 야곱에게 팥죽 한 그릇에 팔고 말았다. 그랄에 거하는 이삭에게 하나님께서 복을 주셔서 거부가 되게 하셨다. 이를 시기하는 블레셋 사람들과의 마찰을 피하여 이삭은 브엘세바로 장막을 옮겼다.
  
  야곱과 에서의 출생(25:1-25:34)    
 
  1. Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah.
  2. She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.
  3. Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Asshurites, the Letushites and the Leummites.
  4. The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.
  5. Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.
  1. 아브라함은 그두라라는 또 다른 여자와 결혼하였다.
  2. 그녀는 시므란, 욕산, 므단, 미디안, 이스박, 수아를 낳았으며
  3. 욕산은 스바와 드단을 낳았는데 드단의 자손들은 앗수르족, 르두시족, 르움미족이 되었다.
  4. 그리고 미디안의 아들은 에바, 에벨, 하녹, 아비다, 엘다아였다. 이상은 모두 그두라의 자손들이었다.
  5. 아브라함은 그의 모든 재산을 이삭에게 주었으며
  1. But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.
  2. Altogether, Abraham lived a hundred and seventy-five years.
  3. Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people.
  4. His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite,
  5. the field Abraham had bought from the Hittites. There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah.
  1. 자기 서자들에게도 재물을 주어 그들이 이삭을 떠나 동쪽 지방에 가서 살게 하였다.
  2. 아브라함이 늙고 나이 많아 175세에 숨을 거두자
  3. 그의 아들 이삭과 이스마엘이 그를 헷 사람 소할의 아들 에브론의 밭에 있는 마므레 앞 막벨라 굴에 장사하였다.

  5. 그 땅은 아브라함이 헷 사람들에게서 산 밭인데 아브라함과 사라가 함께 거기에 묻혔다.
  1. After Abraham's death, God blessed his son Isaac, who then lived near Beer Lahai Roi.
  2. This is the account of Abraham's son Ishmael, whom Sarah's maidservant, Hagar the Egyptian, bore to Abraham.
  3. These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,
  4. Mishma, Dumah, Massa,
  5. Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.
  1. 아브라함이 죽은 후에 하나님이 그의 아들 이삭을 축복하셨으며 이삭은 브엘-라해-로이 근처에서 살았다.
  2. 사라의 여종 이집트인 하갈이 아브라함에게 낳은 아들 이스마엘의 자손은 이렇다.
  3. 이스마엘의 장남은 느바욧이며 그 다음은 게달, 앗브엘, 밉삼,
  4. 미스마, 두마, 맛사,
  5. 하닷, 데마, 여둘, 나비스, 게드마였다.
  1. These were the sons of Ishmael, and these are the names of the twelve tribal rulers according to their settlements and camps.
  2. Altogether, Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people.
  3. His descendants settled in the area from Havilah to Shur, near the border of Egypt, as you go toward Asshur. And they lived in hostility toward all their brothers.
  4. This is the account of Abraham's son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac,
  5. and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean.
  1. 이 사람들은 12종족의 조상이 되었으며 이들의 이름은 그들의 마을과 부락 이름을 딴 것이었다.
  2. 이스마엘은 137세에 죽었으며
  3. 그의 자손들은 하윌라에서부터 술까지 앗시리아로 향하는 이집트 동쪽 지방에 흩어져 아브라함의 다른 자손들과 적대감을 가지고 살았다.
  4. 아브라함의 아들 이삭에 대한 이야기는 이렇다.
  5. 이삭은 40세에 메소포타미아 출신의 아람 사람 브두엘의 딸이며 라반의 누이동생인 리브가와 결혼하였다.
  1. Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.
  2. The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.
  3. The LORD said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger."
  4. When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb.
  5. The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau.
  1. 리브가가 아이를 낳지 못하여 이삭이 여호와께 기도하자 여호와께서 그 기도를 들어주셨다. 그래서 리브가가 임신하게 되었는데
  2. 뱃속에서 아이들이 서로 싸우고 있었다. 리브가가 '어째서 나에게 이런 일이 있는가?' 하고 여호와께 물으러 가자
  3. 여호와께서 그녀에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '두 국민이 네 뱃속에 있구나. 두 민족이 네 태중에서 나누어질 것이니 한 민족이 다른 민족보다 강할 것이며 형이 동생을 섬기리라'
  4. 해산하게 되었을 때 그녀의 태에는 쌍동이가 있었다.
  5. 먼저 나온 아이는 마치 털옷을 입은 것처럼 전신이 불그스름한 털로 덮여 있어서 그 이름을 '에서'라 하였고
  1. After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so he was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.
  2. The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was a quiet man, staying among the tents.
  3. Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
  4. Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished.
  5. He said to Jacob, "Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!" (That is why he was also called Edom. )
  1. 나중에 나온 그의 동생은 손으로 에서의 발꿈치를 꽉 잡았으므로 그 이름을 '야곱'이라고 하였다. 리브가가 그들을 낳았을 때 이삭은 60세였다.
  2. 그 아이들이 자라 에서는 능숙한 사냥꾼이 되어 들을 좋아하였고 야곱은 조용한 사람이어서 집에 머물러 있기를 좋아하였다.
  3. 이삭은 에서가 사냥해 온 고기를 좋아하였으므로 그를 사랑하였고 리브가는 야곱을 사랑하였다.
  4. 하루는 야곱이 죽을 쑤고 있었다. 그런데 에서가 사냥을 하고 돌아와서
  5. 야곱에게 '배가 고파 죽겠으니 그 붉은 죽을 좀 다오' 하였다 (그래서 에서에게는 붉다는 뜻을 지닌 '에돔'이라는 별명이 붙게 되었다.)
  1. Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright."
  2. "Look, I am about to die," Esau said. "What good is the birthright to me?"
  3. But Jacob said, "Swear to me first." So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.
  4. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.
  1. 이때 야곱이 '먼저 형의 장자권을 나에게 파시오' 하자
  2. 에서가 '내가 죽게 되었는데 이 장자권이 무슨 소용이 있겠느냐?' 하고 대답하였다.
  3. 그러나 야곱은 '장자권을 다시 주장하지 않겠다고 나에게 맹세하시오' 하였다. 그래서 에서는 야곱에게 맹세하고 장자권을 그에게 팔았다.
  4. 야곱이 에서에게 빵과 팥죽을 주자 에서는 먹고 마신 후에 일어나 갔다. 그는 장자권을 가볍게 생각했던 것이다.
 
  이삭과 아비멜렉(26:1-26:22)    
 
  1. Now there was a famine in the land--besides the earlier famine of Abraham's time--and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar.
  2. The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live.
  3. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.
  4. I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,
  5. because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws."
  1. 아브라함의 때에 있었던 것과 같은 흉년이 그 땅에 다시 들자 이삭은 블레셋 왕 아비멜렉이 사는 그랄로 갔다.
  2. 그때 여호와께서 그에게 나타나 말씀하셨다. '너는 이집트로 내려가지 말고 내가 지시하는 대로 이 땅에 머물러 있거라.
  3. 네가 이 땅에서 살면 내가 너와 함께 하여 너를 축복하고 이 모든 땅을 너와 네 후손에게 주겠다. 내가 네 아버지 아브라함에게 약속한 것을 지켜
  4. 네 후손들을 하늘의 별처럼 많게 하며 이 모든 땅을 그들에게 주겠다. 네 후손을 통해서 세상의 모든 민족이 복을 받을 것이다.
  5. 이것은 아브라함이 나에게 순종하였고 나의 법과 명령을 지켰기 때문이다'
  1. So Isaac stayed in Gerar.
  2. When the men of that place asked him about his wife, he said, "She is my sister," because he was afraid to say, "She is my wife." He thought, "The men of this place might kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is beautiful."
  3. When Isaac had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked down from a window and saw Isaac caressing his wife Rebekah.
  4. So Abimelech summoned Isaac and said, "She is really your wife! Why did you say, 'She is my sister'?" Isaac answered him, "Because I thought I might lose my life on account of her."
  5. Then Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the men might well have slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us."
  1. 그래서 이삭은 그발에서 살았다.
  2. 그 곳 사람들이 그의 아내에 대해 물으면 그는 자기 아내를 누이동생이라고 하였다. 그가 이렇게 말한 것은 리브가가 아름다우므로 그 곳 사람들이 그녀를 탐내서 자기를 죽일지도 모른다고 생각했기 때문이었다.
  3. 이삭은 그 곳에 오랫동안 살았는데 어느 날 이삭이 그의 아내 리브가를 껴안고 있는 것을 블레셋 왕 아비멜렉이 창문으로 보게 되었다.
  4. 그래서 아비멜렉이 이삭을 불러 '그녀가 분명히 당신의 아내인데도 어째서 당신은 그녀를 누이동생이라고 하였소?'하고 따져 물었다. 이삭이 그에게 '그녀를 내 아내라고 말하면 내가 죽임을 당하게 될 것이라고 생각했기 때문입니다' 하고 대답하자
  5. 아비멜렉이 말하였다. '당신은 어째서 우리에게 이런 짓을 하였소? 하마터면 내 백성 중 하나가 당신 아내를 가까이하여 당신 때문에 우리가 죄를 지을 뻔하였소'
  1. So Abimelech gave orders to all the people: "Anyone who molests this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."
  2. Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him.
  3. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.
  4. He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.
  5. So all the wells that his father's servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.
  1. 그리고서 아비멜렉은 모든 백성들에게 '이 사람과 그의 아내를 괴롭히는 자는 누구든지 죽임을 당할 것이다' 하고 경고하였다.
  2. 이삭은 그 땅에 농사를 지었다. 여호와께서 축복하시므로 그 해에 백 배의 결실을 얻었고
  3. 점점 번창하여 마침내 큰 부자가 되었다.
  4. 그에게 양과 소와 종들이 많아지자 블레셋 사람들이 그를 시기하여
  5. 아브라함이 살아 있을 당시 그의 아버지 아브라함의 종들이 판 우물들을 모조리 흙으로 메워 버렸다.
  1. Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us."
  2. So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there.
  3. Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.
  4. Isaac's servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there.
  5. But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen and said, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, because they disputed with him.
  1. 이때 아비멜렉이 이삭에게 '당신은 우리에게 너무 강력한 사람이 되었소. 어서 우리를 떠나시오' 하였다.
  2. 그래서 이삭은 그 곳을 떠나 그랄 골짜기에 천막을 치고 거기에 정착하여
  3. 그의 아버지 아브라함 때에 팠던 우물들을 다시 팠는데 이것들은 아브라함이 죽은 후에 블레셋 사람들이 막은 우물들이었다. 이삭은 그 우물들의 이름을 자기 아버지가 부르던 대로 불렀다.
  4. 이삭의 종들이 골짜기에 우물을 파서 샘의 물줄기를 찾았으나
  5. 그랄의 목자들이 이삭의 목자들과 다투며 '이 우물은 우리 것이다' 하고 주장하였다. 그래서 이삭은 그 우물 이름을 '다툼의 우물'이라고 지었다.
  1. Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah.
  2. He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, "Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land."
  1. 이삭의 종들은 또 다른 우물을 팠다. 그랄의 목자들이 그것도 자기들 것이라고 우기므로 이삭은 그 우물 이름을 '적대의 우물'이라고 지었다.
  2. 이삭이 기기서 옮겨 또 다른 우물을 파자 그들이 더 이상 다투지 않았으므로 이삭은 그 우물 이름을 '넓은 우물'이라고 짓고 '여호와께서 우리에게 넓은 장소를 주셨으니 이제는 우리가 번창할 것이다' 하고 말하였다.
