여호수아 11:1-12:24

 남부 지역의 패배 소식을 들은 가나안 북부 왕들이 연합군을 형성하여 메롬 물가에 진을 쳤으나, 이스라엘은 하나님의 도우심으로 그들을 진멸하고 북부 지역을 점령함으로써 가나안 전역을 차지했다. 이스라엘에게 패망한 이방 왕들의 명단을 기록함으로써 가나안 정복 기사를 끝맺었다.
  
  북부 가나안 정복(11:1-11:23)    
 
  1. When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon, to the kings of Shimron and Acshaph,
  2. and to the northern kings who were in the mountains, in the Arabah south of Kinnereth, in the western foothills and in Naphoth Dor on the west;
  3. to the Canaanites in the east and west; to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites and Jebusites in the hill country; and to the Hivites below Hermon in the region of Mizpah.
  4. They came out with all their troops and a large number of horses and chariots--a huge army, as numerous as the sand on the seashore.
  5. All these kings joined forces and made camp together at the Waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
  1. 하솔 왕 야빈이 이스라엘 군의 승전 소식을 듣고 마돈 왕 요밥, 시므론 왕, 악삽 왕,
  2. 북쪽 지방의 산간 지대와 갈릴리 바다 남쪽 아라바와 저지대와 서쪽 돌 부근의 고원 지대에 사는 왕들,
  3. 그리고 요단 동쪽과 서쪽에 사는 가나안족, 아모리족, 헷족, 브리스족, 산간 지대에 여부스족, 미스바 땅 헤르몬산 기슭에 사는 히위족의 왕들에게 긴급 전갈을 보냈다.
  4. 그들이 그 전갈을 받고 모두 자기 병력을 이끌고 나왔는데 그 수가 바닷가의 모래처럼 많고 말과 전차도 수없이 많았다.
  5. 이 모든 왕들이 합세하여 이스라엘 군을 치고자 메롬 개천에 진 쳤다.
  1. The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel, slain. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots."
  2. So Joshua and his whole army came against them suddenly at the Waters of Merom and attacked them,
  3. and the LORD gave them into the hand of Israel. They defeated them and pursued them all the way to Greater Sidon, to Misrephoth Maim, and to the Valley of Mizpah on the east, until no survivors were left.
  4. Joshua did to them as the LORD had directed: He hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots.
  5. At that time Joshua turned back and captured Hazor and put its king to the sword. (Hazor had been the head of all these kingdoms.)
  1. 이때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 '그들을 두려워하지 말아라. 내일 이 시간에 내가 이스라엘 군 앞에서 그들을 모조리 죽이겠다. 너는 그들의 말 뒷발의 힘줄을 끊고 그들의 전차를 불에 태워라.' 하고 말씀하셨다.
  2. 그래서 여호수아는 모든 병력을 이끌고 메롬 개천으로 가서 그들을 기습하였다.
  3. 여호와께서 그처럼 많은 군대를 이스라엘 군의 손에 넘기셨으므로 이스라엘 군은 그들을 격파하고 북쪽으로 미스르봇-마임과 시돈까지, 그리고 동쪽으로는 미스바 계곡까지 도주병을 추격하여 한 명도 남기지 않고 모조리 쳐죽였다.
  4. 그리고 여호수아는 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 그들의 말 뒷발의 힘줄을 끊고 전차를 모두 불살라 버렸다.
  5. 그리고서 여호수아는 돌아오다가 당시 동맹국들 중에서 가장 강했던 하솔을 점령하고 그 왕을 칼로 쳐죽였으며
  1. Everyone in it they put to the sword. They totally destroyed them, not sparing anything that breathed, and he burned up Hazor itself.
  2. Joshua took all these royal cities and their kings and put them to the sword. He totally destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded.
  3. Yet Israel did not burn any of the cities built on their mounds--except Hazor, which Joshua burned.
  4. The Israelites carried off for themselves all the plunder and livestock of these cities, but all the people they put to the sword until they completely destroyed them, not sparing anyone that breathed.
  5. As the LORD commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.
  1. 그 곳 백성도 모조리 죽이고 하솔성을 불살라 버렸다.
  2. 또 여호수아는 그 왕들의 모든 성을 점령하고 왕과 그 백성을 모조리 쳐죽여 전에 여호와의 종 모세가 명령한 대로 하였다.
  3. 그러나 그는 하솔성만 불사르고 산 위에 있는 성들은 하나도 불사르지 않았다.
  4. 이스라엘 군은 이 성들의 귀중품과 가축은 모두 자기들이 소유하였으나 사람은 하나도 남기지 않고 모조리 쳐죽였다.
  5. 이와 같이 여호수아는 여호와께서 그의 종 모세에게 명령하고 모세가 자기에게 전달해 준 것을 그대로 다 실행하였으므로 여호와께서 모세에게 명령한 것 중에 그가 실천하지 않은 것이 하나도 없었다.
  1. So Joshua took this entire land: the hill country, all the Negev, the whole region of Goshen, the western foothills, the Arabah and the mountains of Israel with their foothills,
  2. from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, to Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He captured all their kings and struck them down, putting them to death.
  3. Joshua waged war against all these kings for a long time.
  4. Except for the Hivites living in Gibeon, not one city made a treaty of peace with the Israelites, who took them all in battle.
  5. For it was the LORD himself who hardened their hearts to wage war against Israel, so that he might destroy them totally, exterminating them without mercy, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
  1. 여호수아는 온 땅, 곧 산간 지대와 남쪽의 모든 네겝 지방과 고센 땅 전 지역과 저지대와 아라바와 요단 계곡 일대를 완전히 점령하여
  2. 남쪽으로는 세일로 올라가는 할락산에서부터 북쪽으로는 헤르몬산 기슭에 레바논 계곡에 있는 바알-갓까지 이스라엘 영토를 확장하였고 이 지역의 모든 왕을 잡아죽였는데
  3. 이렇게 하기까지에는 상당히 오랜 시간이 걸렸다.
  4. 그러나 기브온에 살고 있던 히위족만은 이스라엘 백성과 화친하였으므로 살아 남고 그 나머지 성들은 전쟁에 패하여 전부 멸망하고 말았다.
  5. 여호와께서 그 모든 민족들의 마음을 완고하게 하여 이스라엘을 대적하게 하셨으므로 그들은 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하신 대로 저주를 받아 무참하게 죽임을 당했다.
  1. At that time Joshua went and destroyed the Anakites from the hill country: from Hebron, Debir and Anab, from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua totally destroyed them and their towns.
  2. No Anakites were left in Israelite territory; only in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod did any survive.
  3. So Joshua took the entire land, just as the LORD had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.
  1. 또 이 기간에 여호수아는 헤브론, 드빌, 아납의 산간 지대와 그리고 유다와 이스라엘의 모든 산간 지대에 살고 있는 거인 아낙 민족을 쳐서 모조리 죽이고 그들의 성을 완전히 파괴해 버렸다.
  2. 그래서 이스라엘 땅에는 살아 남은 아낙 사람이 하나도 없었고 단지 가사와 가드와 아스돗에만 약간 있을 뿐이었다.
  3. 이렇게 해서 여호수아는 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하신 대로 그 온 땅을 점령하여 이스라엘 백성에게 각 지파별로 나누어 주었는데 그제서야 그 땅에 전쟁이 그쳤다.
 
  정복당한 왕들(12:1-12:24)    
 
  1. These are the kings of the land whom the Israelites had defeated and whose territory they took over east of the Jordan, from the Arnon Gorge to Mount Hermon, including all the eastern side of the Arabah:
  2. Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon. He ruled from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge--from the middle of the gorge--to the Jabbok River, which is the border of the Ammonites. This included half of Gilead.
  3. He also ruled over the eastern Arabah from the Sea of Kinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea ), to Beth Jeshimoth, and then southward below the slopes of Pisgah.
  4. And the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of the last of the Rephaites, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei.
  5. He ruled over Mount Hermon, Salecah, all of Bashan to the border of the people of Geshur and Maacah, and half of Gilead to the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.
  1. 아르논 계곡에서부터 헤르몬산에 이르는 요단 동쪽의 땅은 이스라엘 백성이 요단강을 건너기 전에 이미 점령하였고 또 그들은 거기서 두 왕을 죽였으며
  2. 그 중 하나가 헤스본에서 통치하던 아모리 왕 시혼이었다. 그의 영토는 아르논 계곡 변두리의 아로엘과 그 계곡 중앙에 있는 성에서부터 암몬의 경계선인 얍복강까지의 지역, 곧 길르앗 땅 절반과,

  1. Moses, the servant of the LORD, and the Israelites conquered them. And Moses the servant of the LORD gave their land to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh to be their possession.
  2. These are the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir (their lands Joshua gave as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel according to their tribal divisions-
  3. the hill country, the western foothills, the Arabah, the mountain slopes, the desert and the Negev--the lands of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites):
  4. the king of Jericho one the king of Ai (near Bethel) one
  5. the king of Jerusalem one the king of Hebron one
  1. 이스라엘 군이 이들 두 왕과 그 백성을 죽이고 그 지역 일대를 점령하였을 때 여호와의 종 모세는 그 땅을 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 지파 절반에게 주었다.
  2. 여호수아와 이스라엘 백성이 레바논 계곡의 바알-갓에서부터 세일로 올라가는 할락산까지 요단 서쪽의 모든 왕들을 쳐죽인 다음에 여호수아는 이 땅을 이스라엘 각 지파에게 나누어 주었다.
  3. 그들이 분배받은 땅은 산간 지대와 저지대와 아라바와 경사지와 광야와 남쪽 네겝 지방이었다. 그리고 이 지역 일대에 살던 부족들은 헷족, 아모리족, 가나안족, 브리스족, 히위족, 여부스족이었다.
  4. 또 이 지역에서 이스라엘 백성에게 죽임을 당한 왕들은 여리고 왕, 벧엘 근처의 아이 왕
  5. 예루살렘 왕, 헤브론 왕, 야르뭇 왕,
  1. the king of Jarmuth one the king of Lachish one
  2. the king of Eglon one the king of Gezer one
  3. the king of Debir one the king of Geder one
  4. the king of Hormah one the king of Arad one
  5. the king of Libnah one the king of Adullam one
  1. 라기스 왕,
  2. 에글론 왕, 게셀 왕,
  3. 드빌 왕, 게델 왕,
  4. 호르마 왕, 아랏 왕,
  5. 립나 왕 아둘람 왕,
  1. the king of Makkedah one the king of Bethel one
  2. the king of Tappuah one the king of Hepher one
  3. the king of Aphek one the king of Lasharon one
  4. the king of Madon one the king of Hazor one
  5. the king of Shimron Meron one the king of Acshaph one
  1. 막게다 왕, 벧엘 왕,
  2. 답부아 왕, 헤벨 왕,
  3. 아벡 왕, 랏사론 왕,
  4. 마돈 왕, 하솔 왕,
  5. 시므론-므론 왕, 악삽 왕
  1. the king of Taanach one the king of Megiddo one
  2. the king of Kedesh one the king of Jokneam in Carmel one
  3. the king of Dor (in Naphoth Dor ) one the king of Goyim in Gilgal one
  4. the king of Tirzah one thirty-one kings in all.
  1. 다아낙 왕, 므깃도 왕,
  2. 게데스 왕, 갈멜의 욕느암 왕,
  3. 나봇-돌의 돌 왕, 길갈의 고임 왕,
  4. 그리고 디르사 왕인테 이들은 모두 31명이었다.
