사사기 17:1-18:31

 미가는 어머니의 은으로 우상을 만들고, 거할 곳을 찾던 레위인을 고용하여 제사장으로 삼았다. 기업을 구하던 단 지파는 정탐꾼을 보내 라이스를 정탐하게 했다. 단 자손들은 미가의 집에서 우상과 레위 소년을 강탈한 뒤, 라이스를 점령하고 그 곳에 거주하면서 우상을 섬겼다.
  
  미가의 우상(17:1-17:13)    
 
  1. Now a man named Micah from the hill country of Ephraim
  2. said to his mother, "The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a curse--I have that silver with me; I took it." Then his mother said, "The LORD bless you, my son!"
  3. When he returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said, "I solemnly consecrate my silver to the LORD for my son to make a carved image and a cast idol. I will give it back to you."
  4. So he returned the silver to his mother, and she took two hundred shekels of silver and gave them to a silversmith, who made them into the image and the idol. And they were put in Micah's house.
  5. Now this man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and some idols and installed one of his sons as his priest.
  1. 에브라임 산간 지대에 미가라는 사람이 살고 있었다.

  1. In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.
  2. A young Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, who had been living within the clan of Judah,
  3. left that town in search of some other place to stay. On his way he came to Micah's house in the hill country of Ephraim.
  4. Micah asked him, "Where are you from?" "I'm a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah," he said, "and I'm looking for a place to stay."
  5. Then Micah said to him, "Live with me and be my father and priest, and I'll give you ten shekels of silver a year, your clothes and your food."
  1. 이 당시에는 이스라엘에 왕이 없었기 때문에 사람마다 자기 생각의 좋을 대로 하였다.
  2. 이때 유다 지파에 속한 한 젊은 레위인이 유다 베들레헴에 살고 있었다.
  3. 그가 살 곳을 찾아 베들레헴을 떠나 가던 중 에브라임 산간 지대에 있는 미가의 집에 이르게 되었다.
  4. 미가가 그에게 '자네는 어디서 왔는가?' 하고 묻자 '저는 유다 베들레헴에 사는 레위인입니다. 살 만한 곳을 찾고 있는 중이죠.' 하고 그가 대답하였다.
  5. 그러자 미가가 제안하였다. '그렇다면 나와 함께 있는 것이 어떤가? 자네는 내 자문관과 제사장이 되어 주게. 그러면 내가 매년 은화 10개를 주고 옷과 음식을 제공하겠네.'
  1. So the Levite agreed to live with him, and the young man was to him like one of his sons.
  2. Then Micah installed the Levite, and the young man became his priest and lived in his house.
  3. And Micah said, "Now I know that the LORD will be good to me, since this Levite has become my priest."
  1. 그래서 그 젊은 레위인은 미가와 함께 살기로 승낙하였으며 그는 미가의 아들처럼 되었다.
  2. 미가가 레위인을 거룩히 구별하자 그는 미가의 제사장이 되어 그 집에서 살았다.
  3. 그때 미가가 '이제 내가 레위인을 내 제사장으로 세웠으니 여호와께서 나에게 복을 주실 것이다!' 하고 외쳤다.
 
  단 지파의 이주(18:1-18:31)    
 
  1. In those days Israel had no king. And in those days the tribe of the Danites was seeking a place of their own where they might settle, because they had not yet come into an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
  2. So the Danites sent five warriors from Zorah and Eshtaol to spy out the land and explore it. These men represented all their clans. They told them, "Go, explore the land." The men entered the hill country of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah, where they spent the night.
  3. When they were near Micah's house, they recognized the voice of the young Levite; so they turned in there and asked him, "Who brought you here? What are you doing in this place? Why are you here?"
  4. He told them what Micah had done for him, and said, "He has hired me and I am his priest."
  5. Then they said to him, "Please inquire of God to learn whether our journey will be successful."
  1. 이 때는 이스라엘에 왕이 없는 시대였다. 그리고 단 지파는 이스라엘 지파들 중에서 아직 살 땅을 얻지 못했기 때문에 정착할 땅을 찾고 있었다.
  2. 그래서 단 지파 사람들은 그들의 모든 집안을 대표하는 다섯 명의 용사를 소라와 에스다올에서 선발하여 땅을 정찰해 오도록 하였다. 그들은 에브라임 산간 지대로 들어가서 미가의 집이 묵게 되었다.

  1. The priest answered them, "Go in peace. Your journey has the LORD's approval."
  2. So the five men left and came to Laish, where they saw that the people were living in safety, like the Sidonians, unsuspecting and secure. And since their land lacked nothing, they were prosperous. Also, they lived a long way from the Sidonians and had no relationship with anyone else.
  3. When they returned to Zorah and Eshtaol, their brothers asked them, "How did you find things?"
  4. They answered, "Come on, let's attack them! We have seen that the land is very good. Aren't you going to do something? Don't hesitate to go there and take it over.
  5. When you get there, you will find an unsuspecting people and a spacious land that God has put into your hands, a land that lacks nothing whatever."
  1. 그는 '평안히 가십시오. 이 여정에 여호와께서 여러분을 보살펴 주실 것입니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
  2. 그래서 그 다섯 사람들은 거기서 떠나 라이스로 갔다. 그 곳 사람들은 시돈 사람들처럼 한가하고 평화롭게 살고 있었다. 그들은 아무것도 부족한 것 없이 번영을 누리고 있었으며 시돈 사람들과도 멀리 떨어져 있어서 다른 민족과 별로 접촉이 없었다.
  3. 그들이 소라와 에스다올로 돌아왔을 때 자기 지파 사람들이 '너희가 본 땅은 어떠했느냐?' 하고 물었다.
  4. 그래서 그들은 이렇게 대답하였다. '가서 치자. 우리가 본 땅은 아주 좋은 땅이었다. 자, 망설이지 말고 빨리 가서 그 땅을 점령하자.
  5. 너희가 그 곳에 가면 태평스럽게 살고 있는 백성들을 보게 될 것이다. 그 땅은 아주 넓고 아무것도 부족한 것이 없었다. 이렇게 좋은 땅을 하나님이 우리에게 주셨다!'
  1. Then six hundred men from the clan of the Danites, armed for battle, set out from Zorah and Eshtaol.
  2. On their way they set up camp near Kiriath Jearim in Judah. This is why the place west of Kiriath Jearim is called Mahaneh Dan to this day.
  3. From there they went on to the hill country of Ephraim and came to Micah's house.
  4. Then the five men who had spied out the land of Laish said to their brothers, "Do you know that one of these houses has an ephod, other household gods, a carved image and a cast idol? Now you know what to do."
  5. So they turned in there and went to the house of the young Levite at Micah's place and greeted him.
  1. 그러자 단 지파 사람 600명이 무장을 하고 소라와 에스다올에서 출발하여
  2. 북쪽으로 올라가서 유다 기럇-여아림 부근에 진을 쳤다. 그래서 기럇-여아림 서쪽에 있는 그 곳 이름이 오늘날까지도 '마하네-단'이라 불려지고 있다.
  3. 그들은 그 곳을 떠나 에브라임 산간 지대로 올라가서 미가의 집에 이르렀다.
  4. 그때 전에 라이스 땅을 정찰하러 갔던 그 다섯 사람이 자기 지파 사람들에게 말하였다. '너희는 이 집 안에 에봇과 가정 신들과 새긴 신상과 주조된 우상이 있는 것을 알고 있느냐? 이제 너희는 어떻게 할 것인가를 생각하라'
  5. 그리고서 그 다섯 사람은 젊은 레위 사람이 사는 미가의 집으로 들어가 그에게 안부를 물었다.
  1. The six hundred Danites, armed for battle, stood at the entrance to the gate.
  2. The five men who had spied out the land went inside and took the carved image, the ephod, the other household gods and the cast idol while the priest and the six hundred armed men stood at the entrance to the gate.
  3. When these men went into Micah's house and took the carved image, the ephod, the other household gods and the cast idol, the priest said to them, "What are you doing?"
  4. They answered him, "Be quiet! Don't say a word. Come with us, and be our father and priest. Isn't it better that you serve a tribe and clan in Israel as priest rather than just one man's household?"
  5. Then the priest was glad. He took the ephod, the other household gods and the carved image and went along with the people.
  1. 그때 단 지파 사람 600명은 무장을 한 채 그 집 문 앞에 서 있었다.
  2. 그 다섯 사람들이 신당으로 들어가 새긴 신상과 에봇과 가정 신들과 주조된 우상을 가지고 나오자 무장한 단 지파 사람 600명과 함께 문 앞에 서 있던 제사장이 그것을 보고 '무슨 짓입니까?' 하고 물었다.
  3. (17절과 같음)
  4. 그래서 그들은 이렇게 대답하였다. '조용히 해! 아무 말도 하지 말고 우리와 함께 가서 우리의 자문관과 제사장이 되어라. 네가 이 집에서 한 가정의 제사장이 되는 것보다 이스라엘 민족 한 지파의 제사장이 되는 것이 더 낫지 않느냐?'
  5. 그러자 그 제사장은 아주 기뻐하며 에봇과 가정 신들과 새긴 신상을 받아 들고 그들과 함께 떠났다.
  1. Putting their little children, their livestock and their possessions in front of them, they turned away and left.
  2. When they had gone some distance from Micah's house, the men who lived near Micah were called together and overtook the Danites.
  3. As they shouted after them, the Danites turned and said to Micah, "What's the matter with you that you called out your men to fight?"
  4. He replied, "You took the gods I made, and my priest, and went away. What else do I have? How can you ask, 'What's the matter with you?' "
  5. The Danites answered, "Don't argue with us, or some hot-tempered men will attack you, and you and your family will lose your lives."
  1. 그들은 거기서 발길을 돌려 그들의 자녀와 가축과 그들의 소유물을 앞으로 세우고 다시 진군하였다.
  2. 그들이 미가의 집에서 제법 멀리 떠나왔을 때 미가가 자기 이웃집 사람들을 데리고 단 지파 사람들을 뒤쫓아오며

  4. '너희들은 내가 만든 신들을 가져가고 내 제사장을 데려갔다. 그래서 나에게는 남은 것이 아무 것도 없는데 너희가 어떻게 나에게 무슨 일이냐고 말할 수 있느냐?'
  5. '더 이상 지껄이지 않는 것이 좋다. 그렇지 않으면 우리 가운데 성급한 사람들이 너와 네 가족을 쳐서 죽일지도 모른다.'
  1. So the Danites went their way, and Micah, seeing that they were too strong for him, turned around and went back home.
  2. Then they took what Micah had made, and his priest, and went on to Laish, against a peaceful and unsuspecting people. They attacked them with the sword and burned down their city.
  3. There was no one to rescue them because they lived a long way from Sidon and had no relationship with anyone else. The city was in a valley near Beth Rehob. The Danites rebuilt the city and settled there.
  4. They named it Dan after their forefather Dan, who was born to Israel--though the city used to be called Laish.
  5. There the Danites set up for themselves the idols, and Jonathan son of Gershom, the son of Moses, and his sons were priests for the tribe of Dan until the time of the captivity of the land.
  1. 그리고서 그들은 계속 진군하였다. 그러자 미가는 그들이 너무 강해 자기 힘으로 당해 낼 수 없는 것을 알고 집으로 되돌아갔다.
  2. 단 지파 사람들은 미가가 만든 우상들을 가지고 제사장과 함께 라이스로 가서 한가하고 평화롭게 사는 그 곳 백성들을 쳐죽이고 그들의 성에 불을 질렀다.
  3. 그러나 그들을 구해 줄 자가 아무도 없었다. 이것은 그 성이 시돈에서 멀리 떨어진 벧-르홉 부근의 골짜기에 위치하고 있어서 다른 민족과 접촉하는 일이 없었기 때문이었다. 단 지파 사람들은 그 성을 재건하고 그 곳에 정착하였다.
  4. 그리고 그들은 야곱의 아들인 그들의 조상 단의 이름을 따서 그 성을 '단'이라고 불렀는데 본래 그 성의 이름은 라이스였다.
  5. 거기서 단 지파 사람들은 자기들을 위해 그 우상들을 세웠다. 그리고 모세의 손자이며 게르솜의 아들인 요나단과 그의 자손들은 단 지파가 포로 되는 날까지 그들의 제사장이 되었다.
  1. They continued to use the idols Micah had made, all the time the house of God was in Shiloh.
  1. 하나님의 집이 실로에 있는 동안 미가가 만든 우상들은 줄곧 단 지파 가운데 있었다.
