사무엘하 20:1-21:22

 다윗의 환궁 문제를 둘러싼 유다와 이스라엘간의 분쟁으로 세바의 반란이 일어났고, 이를 이용해 요압은 자신의 정적인 아마사를 살해하였다. 사울의 기브온 양민 학살 사건에 대한 심판으로 3년 간 기근이 있자, 다윗은 기브온 사람들의 원한을 갚아 속죄하도록 하였다. 블레셋과의 전쟁에서 다윗의 용사들은 승리를 거두었다.
  
  세바의 반란(20:1-20:26)    
 
  1. Now a troublemaker named Sheba son of Bicri, a Benjamite, happened to be there. He sounded the trumpet and shouted, "We have no share in David, no part in Jesse's son! Every man to his tent, O Israel!"
  2. So all the men of Israel deserted David to follow Sheba son of Bicri. But the men of Judah stayed by their king all the way from the Jordan to Jerusalem.
  3. When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to take care of the palace and put them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but did not lie with them. They were kept in confinement till the day of their death, living as widows.
  4. Then the king said to Amasa, "Summon the men of Judah to come to me within three days, and be here yourself."
  5. But when Amasa went to summon Judah, he took longer than the time the king had set for him.
  1. 마침 그 곳 길갈에 베냐민 사람 비그리의 아들인 세바라고 하는 못된 녀석이 있었다. 그가 나팔을 불며 이렇게 외쳤다. '우리는 이새의 아들과 아무 상관이 없다. 자, 이스라엘 사람들아, 집으로 돌아가자! 다윗은 우리의 왕이 아니다!'
  2. 그래서 모든 이스라엘 사람들은 다윗을 떠나 세바를 좇았다. 그러나 유다 사람들은 왕을 떠나지 않고 요단에서부터 예루살렘까지 줄곧 그와 동행하였다.
  3. 다윗은 예루살렘 궁전에 도착하자 궁을 지키기 위해 남겨 두었던 10명의 후궁들을 잡아다가 별실에 가두어 넣고 그들의 필수품만 공급해 주고 그들과 잠자리를 같이하지 않았다. 그래서 그들은 죽는 날까지 갇혀서 생과부로 지냈다.
  4. 그리고 왕은 아마사에게 3일 이내로 유다 사람을 소집하고 돌아와서 보고하라고 지시하였다.
  5. 그래서 아마사는 유다 사람을 소집하러 나갔으나 왕이 정한 기한 내에 돌아오지 않았다.
  1. David said to Abishai, "Now Sheba son of Bicri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your master's men and pursue him, or he will find fortified cities and escape from us."
  2. So Joab's men and the Kerethites and Pelethites and all the mighty warriors went out under the command of Abishai. They marched out from Jerusalem to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.
  3. While they were at the great rock in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was wearing his military tunic, and strapped over it at his waist was a belt with a dagger in its sheath. As he stepped forward, it dropped out of its sheath.
  4. Joab said to Amasa, "How are you, my brother?" Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
  5. Amasa was not on his guard against the dagger in Joab's hand, and Joab plunged it into his belly, and his intestines spilled out on the ground. Without being stabbed again, Amasa died. Then Joab and his brother Abishai pursued Sheba son of Bicri.
  1. 그러자 왕이 아비새에게 말하였다. '세바는 압살롬보다 우리에게 더 위험한 존재이다. 너는 궁중 경호병들을 데리고 빨리 가서 그를 추적하여라. 그렇지 않으면 우리가 미칠 수 없는 요새 성으로 그가 들어가고 말 것이다.'
  2. 그래서 아비새와 요압은 궁중 경호병들과 용감한 군인들을 이끌고 세바를 찾으러 나섰다
  3. 그들이 기브온에 있는 큰 바위에 이르렀을 때 우연히 아마사와 마주치게 되었다. 그때 군복을 입고 칼을 차고 있던 요압은 아마사에게 다가서면서 몰래 칼집을 풀어 놓았다.
  4. 요압은 '동생, 잘 있었나?' 하며 마치 입을 맞추려는 듯이 오른손으로 그의 수염을 잡았으나
  5. 아마사는 요압의 왼쪽 손에 칼이 있는 것을 알지 못하였다. 요압이 칼로 그의 배를 찌르자 창자가 땅으로 쏟아져 나와 다시 칠 필요도 없이 아마사는 즉시 죽고 말았다.
  1. One of Joab's men stood beside Amasa and said, "Whoever favors Joab, and whoever is for David, let him follow Joab!"
  2. Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the road, and the man saw that all the troops came to a halt there. When he realized that everyone who came up to Amasa stopped, he dragged him from the road into a field and threw a garment over him.
  3. After Amasa had been removed from the road, all the men went on with Joab to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.
  4. Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel Beth Maacah and through the entire region of the Berites, who gathered together and followed him.
  5. All the troops with Joab came and besieged Sheba in Abel Beth Maacah. They built a siege ramp up to the city, and it stood against the outer fortifications. While they were battering the wall to bring it down,
  1. 그러자 요압의 부하 중 한 사람이 아마사의 시체 곁에 서서 '요압과 다윗 왕을 지지하는 사람은 모두 요압을 따르라!' 하고 외쳤다.
  2. 아마사의 시체는 피투성이가 된 채 길 가운데 그대로 있었는데 요압의 부하들은 사람들이 구경하러 모여드는 것을 보고 그 시체를 밭으로 끌어다가 옷으로 덮어 두었다.
  3. 길에서 시체를 치운 다음 그들은 모두 요압을 따라 다시 세바의 추적에 나섰다.
  4. 한편 세바가 이스라엘 전 지역을 돌아다니다가 아벨-벧-마아가에 이르자 비그리 집안의 모든 사람들이 모여서 그를 따라 성으로 들어갔다.
  5. 요압의 부하들은 세바가 그 곳에 있다는 말을 듣고 그리로 가서 성을 완전히 포위하고 성벽을 헐기 위해 성벽 밑으로 흙을 파서 성을 향해 토성을 쌓기 시작하였다.
  1. a wise woman called from the city, "Listen! Listen! Tell Joab to come here so I can speak to him."
  2. He went toward her, and she asked, "Are you Joab?" "I am," he answered. She said, "Listen to what your servant has to say." "I'm listening," he said.
  3. She continued, "Long ago they used to say, 'Get your answer at Abel,' and that settled it.
  4. We are the peaceful and faithful in Israel. You are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the LORD's inheritance?"
  5. "Far be it from me!" Joab replied, "Far be it from me to swallow up or destroy!
  1. 이때 그 성의 어떤 지혜로운 여자가 할 말이 있다고 요압을 불러 달라고 외쳤다.
  2. 요압이 가까이 갔을 때 그 여자가 물었다. '당신이 요압 장군이세요?' '그렇소' '내 말 좀 들어 보세요' '어디 한번 말해 보시오.'
  3. '옛날부터 사람들은 해결할 문제가 있거든 아벨에 가서 물어 보라 하고 그 문제를 해결하였습니다.
  4. 그런데 당신은 이스라엘이 충성을 다해 온 평화롭고 전통 있는 이 성을 지금 파괴하려고 합니다. 당신은 여호와의 소유를 삼켜 버릴 작정입니까?'
  5. '절대로 그렇지 않소. 내가 당신들의 성을 파괴할 생각은 없소
  1. That is not the case. A man named Sheba son of Bicri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Hand over this one man, and I'll withdraw from the city." The woman said to Joab, "His head will be thrown to you from the wall."
  2. Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bicri and threw it to Joab. So he sounded the trumpet, and his men dispersed from the city, each returning to his home. And Joab went back to the king in Jerusalem.
  3. Joab was over Israel's entire army; Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites;
  4. Adoniram was in charge of forced labor; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;
  5. Sheva was secretary; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
  1. 에브라임 산간 지대 사람 비그리의 아들 세바가 다윗 왕을 대적하였소. 만일 당신들이 그 사람만 나에게 넘겨 준다면 우리는 아무말 없이 돌아갈 것이오.' '좋습니다. 우리가 그의 머리를 성밖으로 당신에게 던지겠습니다.'
  2. 그리고서 그 여자가 성 주민들에게 가서 지혜로운 말로 이야기하자 그들은 세바의 머리를 잘라 성 밖으로 요압에게 던져 주었다. 그래서 요압은 나팔을 불어 자기 부하들을 성에서 물러나게 하였다. 그 후에 병사들은 자기들의 집으로 돌아가고 요압은 예루살렘에 있는 왕에게 돌아갔다.
  3. 이때 요압은 이스라엘군의 총사령관이 되었고 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 왕의 경호대장,
  4. 아도니람은 사역군의 총감독관, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 역사관,
  5. 스와는 서기관, 사독과 아비아달은 제사장,
  1. and Ira the Jairite was David's priest.
  1. 그리고 야일 사람 이라는 다윗의 보좌관이 되었다.
 
  기브온 사람들의 원한(21:1-21:22)    
 
  1. During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, "It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death."
  2. The king summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not a part of Israel but were survivors of the Amorites; the Israelites had sworn to spare them, but Saul in his zeal for Israel and Judah had tried to annihilate them.)
  3. David asked the Gibeonites, "What shall I do for you? How shall I make amends so that you will bless the LORD's inheritance?"
  4. The Gibeonites answered him, "We have no right to demand silver or gold from Saul or his family, nor do we have the right to put anyone in Israel to death." "What do you want me to do for you?" David asked.
  5. They answered the king, "As for the man who destroyed us and plotted against us so that we have been decimated and have no place anywhere in Israel,
  1. 다윗의 시대에 계속 3년 동안 흉년이 들었다. 그래서 다윗이 기도하자 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '이 흉년은 사울과 그 집안 사람들이 기브온 사람들을 죽여 범죄한 댓가이다.'
  2. 그래서 다윗왕은 기브온 사람들을 불렀다. 이들은 본래 이스라엘 사람이 아니고 아모리 사람 중에서 살아 남은 자들이었다. 이스라엘 사람들이 그들을 죽이지 않고 보호하겠다고 약속하였으나 사울은 민족주의적인 열성 때문에 그들을 전멸시키려고 했던 것이다.
  3. 다윗이 그들에게 물었다. '내가 너희를 위해 어떻게 하면 되겠느냐? 나는 너희가 입은 피해를 보상하여 너희가 여호와의 백성에게 복을 빌 수 있도록 하고 싶다.'
  4. '사울과 그 집안과의 우리 분쟁은 돈으로 해결될 문제가 아닙니다. 그러나 우리에게는 이스라엘에서 사람을 죽일 권한이 없습니다.' '그러면 내가 너희에게 무엇을 해주면 좋겠는지 말하라. 내가 그대로 하겠다.'
  5. '사울은 우리를 학살하여 이스라엘 땅에 한 사람도 남겨 두지 않으려고 했습니다.
  1. let seven of his male descendants be given to us to be killed and exposed before the LORD at Gibeah of Saul--the Lord 's chosen one." So the king said, "I will give them to you."
  2. The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the LORD between David and Jonathan son of Saul.
  3. But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Aiah's daughter Rizpah, whom she had borne to Saul, together with the five sons of Saul's daughter Merab, whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
  4. He handed them over to the Gibeonites, who killed and exposed them on a hill before the LORD. All seven of them fell together; they were put to death during the first days of the harvest, just as the barley harvest was beginning.
  5. Rizpah daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest till the rain poured down from the heavens on the bodies, she did not let the birds of the air touch them by day or the wild animals by night.
  1. 그러므로 그의 자손 중 남자 일곱을 우리에게 넘겨 주십시오. 우리가 사울의 성이었던 기브아에서 그들을 여호와 앞에 목매어 달겠습니다.' '좋다. 내가 그들을 너희에게 넘겨 주겠다.'

  4. 그러자 기브온 사람들은 그 일곱 사람을 모두 산에서 여호와 앞에 목매달아 죽였는데 그들이 죽은 때는 보리 추수를 시작할 무렵이었다.
  5. 그때부터 두 아들을 잃은 아야의 딸 리스바는 굵은 삼베를 가져다가 바위 위에 깔고 추수가 시작된 때부터 하늘에서 비가 시체에 쏟아질 때까지 낮에는 시체에 독수리가 앉지 못하게 하고 밤에는 맹수가 달려들지 못하게 하였다.
  1. When David was told what Aiah's daughter Rizpah, Saul's concubine, had done,
  2. he went and took the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead. (They had taken them secretly from the public square at Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them after they struck Saul down on Gilboa.)
  3. David brought the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from there, and the bones of those who had been killed and exposed were gathered up.
  4. They buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the tomb of Saul's father Kish, at Zela in Benjamin, and did everything the king commanded. After that, God answered prayer in behalf of the land.
  5. Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.
  1. 다윗은 리스바가 행한 일을 듣고
  2. 그 사람들의 뼈를 거두어 오라고 지시하고 사울과 요나단의 뼈를 가지러 직접 길르앗의 야베스로 갔다. 그 곳 사람들은 사울과 요나단이 길보아산에서 전사했을 때 블레셋 사람들이 그들의 시체를 벧산 광장에 매어단 것을 훔쳐 왔던 사람들이었다. 다윗이 사울의 뼈와 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈를 가지고 올라오자 사람들이 나무에 달려 죽은 자들의 뼈를 거둬 가지고 왔다. 그리고서 그들이 그 모든 뼈를 베냐민 지파의 땅 셀라에 있는 기스의 묘실에 장사하자 그제서야 하나님이 그 땅에 흉년이 그치게 하셨다.

  5. 그 후에 이스라엘 사람과 블레셋 사람 사이에 또다시 전쟁이 벌어졌다. 다윗이 부하들과 함께 출전하여 블레셋 사람들과 싸우다가 피곤하여 지쳐 있을 때
  1. And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels and who was armed with a new sword , said he would kill David.
  2. But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David's rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David's men swore to him, saying, "Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished."
  3. In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.
  4. In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.
  5. In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot--twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
  1. 약 3.5킬로그램이나 되는 놋쇠창을 들고 새 칼을 찬 이스비-브놉이라는 적의 거인 하나가 다윗에게 접근하여 그를 죽이려고 하였다.
  2. 그러나 스루야의 아들 아비새가 왕을 구출하고 그 블레셋 거인을 쳐죽였다. 그때 다윗의 부하들은 '이제 왕은 두 번 다시 출전하지 마십시오. 우리는 이스라엘의 희망이신 왕을 잃고 싶지 않습니다.' 하였다.
  3. 그 후에 또 곱에서 블레셋 사람과 전쟁이 있었다. 이 전쟁에서는 후사 사람 십브개가 적의 거인 삽을 쳐죽였다.
  4. 그리고 곱에서 또 다른 전쟁이 있었을 때 베들레헴 사람 야레-오르김의 아들 엘하난이 가드 사람 골리앗의 동생을 죽였으며 그의 창자루는 그 굵기가 베틀채 같았다.
  5. 가드에서 또 다른 전쟁이 있었다. 적군 가운데 양쪽 손가락과 발가락을 각각 여섯 개씩 가진 거인 하나가 있었는데 그가 이스라엘을 모욕하므로 다윗의 형 시므아의 아들인 요나단이 그를 죽였다.
  1. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him.
  2. These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.
