열왕기하 9:1-10:17

 예후가 반역을 일으켜 요람과 아하시야를 죽이고 북왕국의 왕이 되었다. 그는 이세벨을 처단하고 아합 왕가를 진멸하므로써 아합 왕가에 대한 하나님의 심판을 행하였다.
  
  예후의 반역(9:1-9:37)    
 
  1. The prophet Elisha summoned a man from the company of the prophets and said to him, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take this flask of oil with you and go to Ramoth Gilead.
  2. When you get there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. Go to him, get him away from his companions and take him into an inner room.
  3. Then take the flask and pour the oil on his head and declare, 'This is what the LORD says: I anoint you king over Israel.' Then open the door and run; don't delay!"
  4. So the young man, the prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.
  5. When he arrived, he found the army officers sitting together. "I have a message for you, commander," he said. "For which of us?" asked Jehu. "For you, commander," he replied.
  1. 한편 예언자 엘리사는 예언자 생도 한 사람을 불러 이렇게 말하였다. '너는 옷을 단단히 잡아매고 이 기름을 가지고 길르앗의 라못으로 가거라.
  2. 그곳에 도착하거든 너는 님시의 손자이며 여호사밧의 아들인 예후를 찾아 그를 불러내어 골방으로 데리고 가서
  3. 그 머리에 기름을 붓고 여호와께서 그를 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼으셨다고 말한 다음 즉시 문을 열고 도망하여라. 거기서 우물쭈물 해서는 안 된다.'
  4. 그래서 그 젊은 예언자는 라못으로 갔는데
  5. 예후가 군 지휘관들과 함께 앉아 있었다. 그때 그가 '장군님, 내가 당신에게 할 말이 있습니다.' 하자 '누구 말인가?' 하고 예후가 물었다. 그래서 그는 '장군님에게 할 말이 있습니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
  1. Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the prophet poured the oil on Jehu's head and declared, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anoint you king over the LORD's people Israel.
  2. You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and the blood of all the LORD's servants shed by Jezebel.
  3. The whole house of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel--slave or free.
  4. I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah.
  5. As for Jezebel, dogs will devour her on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her.' " Then he opened the door and ran.
  1. 예후가 일어나 집 안으로 들어가자 그 젊은 예언자는 그의 머리에 기름을 부으며 말하였다. '이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 말씀입니다. 내가 너에게 기름을 부어 내 백성을 다스릴 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼는다.

  1. When Jehu went out to his fellow officers, one of them asked him, "Is everything all right? Why did this madman come to you?" "You know the man and the sort of things he says," Jehu replied.
  2. "That's not true!" they said. "Tell us." Jehu said, "Here is what he told me: 'This is what the LORD says: I anoint you king over Israel.' "
  3. They hurried and took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, "Jehu is king!"
  4. So Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. (Now Joram and all Israel had been defending Ramoth Gilead against Hazael king of Aram,
  5. but King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him in the battle with Hazael king of Aram.) Jehu said, "If this is the way you feel, don't let anyone slip out of the city to go and tell the news in Jezreel."
  1. 예후가 나오자 그의 동료들이 물었다. '별일은 없었는가? 그 미친 녀석이 자네에게 온 용건이 무엇인가?' '자네들도 잘 알고 있으면서 뭘 그러는가?'

  4. 이렇게 해서 님시의 손자이며 여호사밧의 아들인 예후가 요람왕을 반역하였다. 이때 요람은 길르앗의 라못에서 시리아의 하사엘왕과 싸우다가 입은 부상을 치료하려고 이스르엘에 가 있었다. 그래서 예후는 자기 동료들에게 '내가 왕이 되는 것을 좋게 생각한다면 한 사람이라도 이스르엘에 가서 우리가 행한 일을 보고하지 못하도록 해 주게' 하고

  1. Then he got into his chariot and rode to Jezreel, because Joram was resting there and Ahaziah king of Judah had gone down to see him.
  2. When the lookout standing on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu's troops approaching, he called out, "I see some troops coming." "Get a horseman," Joram ordered. "Send him to meet them and ask, 'Do you come in peace?' "
  3. The horseman rode off to meet Jehu and said, "This is what the king says: 'Do you come in peace?' " "What do you have to do with peace?" Jehu replied. "Fall in behind me." The lookout reported, "The messenger has reached them, but he isn't coming back."
  4. So the king sent out a second horseman. When he came to them he said, "This is what the king says: 'Do you come in peace?' " Jehu replied, "What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me."
  5. The lookout reported, "He has reached them, but he isn't coming back either. The driving is like that of Jehu son of Nimshi--he drives like a madman."
  1. 마차를 타고 이스르엘로 갔다. 이때 요람은 병상에 누워 있었고 유다의 아하시야왕은 문병하러 와서 그와 함께 있었다.
  2. 이스르엘 망대에 있던 파수꾼이 예후가 여러 사람들과 함께 오는 것을 보고 '누가 오고 있습니다.' 하고 소리쳤다. 그러자 요람왕은 '한 사람을 말에 태워 보내 친구인지 적인지 알아보고 오게 하여라.' 하고 명령하였다.
  3. 그래서 한 사람이 말을 타고 가서 예후를 만나 '왕은 당신이 친구로 온 사람인지 알고 싶어합니다.' 하자 예후는 '그게 너와 무슨 상관이 있느냐? 너는 나를 따르라.' 하였다. 파수꾼이 말을 타고 간 사람이 돌아오지 않는다고 왕에게 보고하자
  4. 왕은 다른 사람을 말에 태워 보냈다. 그도 예후에게 같은 질문을 하므로 예후는 '그게 너와 무슨 상관이 있느냐? 너는 나를 따르라.' 하였다.
  5. 파수꾼은 그 사람도 가서 돌아오지 않는다고 왕에게 보고하며 '저들의 두목으로 보이는 자는 예후처럼 말을 난폭하게 몰고 있습니다.' 하고 덧붙였다.
  1. "Hitch up my chariot," Joram ordered. And when it was hitched up, Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah rode out, each in his own chariot, to meet Jehu. They met him at the plot of ground that had belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite.
  2. When Joram saw Jehu he asked, "Have you come in peace, Jehu?" "How can there be peace," Jehu replied, "as long as all the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel abound?"
  3. Joram turned about and fled, calling out to Ahaziah, "Treachery, Ahaziah!"
  4. Then Jehu drew his bow and shot Joram between the shoulders. The arrow pierced his heart and he slumped down in his chariot.
  5. Jehu said to Bidkar, his chariot officer, "Pick him up and throw him on the field that belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite. Remember how you and I were riding together in chariots behind Ahab his father when the LORD made this prophecy about him:
  1. 그러자 요람왕은 '내 마차를 준비하라.' 하고 아하시야왕과 함께 각자 자기 마차를 타고 예후를 맞으러 나갔는데 그들이 만난 곳은 나봇의 밭이었다.
  2. 이때 요람이 예후를 보고 '예후야, 네가 친구로 왔느냐? 하고 묻자 예후는 '당신의 어머니 이세벨의 우상 숭배와 마법이 판을 치고 있는 마당에 어떻게 우정이 있을 수 있겠소?' 하고 대답하였다.
  3. 그때 요람은 '아하시야왕이여, 반역입니다.' 하고 외치며 자기 마차를 돌려 달아났다.
  4. 예후가 있는 힘을 다해 활을 당겨 요람을 향해 쏘자 화살이 그의 어깻죽지 사이로 심장을 꿰뚫어 그는 자기 마차에 쓰러져 죽고 말았다.
  5. 그러자 예후는 자기 부관 빗갈에게 말하였다. '너는 이 시체를 나봇의 밭에 던져라. 너도 기억하겠지만 너와 내가 마차를 타고 저 사람의 아버지 아합왕의 뒤를 따라갈 때 여호와께서
  1. 'Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, declares the LORD, and I will surely make you pay for it on this plot of ground, declares the LORD.' Now then, pick him up and throw him on that plot, in accordance with the word of the LORD."
  2. When Ahaziah king of Judah saw what had happened, he fled up the road to Beth Haggan. Jehu chased him, shouting, "Kill him too!" They wounded him in his chariot on the way up to Gur near Ibleam, but he escaped to Megiddo and died there.
  3. His servants took him by chariot to Jerusalem and buried him with his fathers in his tomb in the City of David.
  4. (In the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab, Ahaziah had become king of Judah.)
  5. Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she painted her eyes, arranged her hair and looked out of a window.
  1. 나는 어제 나봇과 그의 아들들이 살해당하는 것을 분명히 보았다 하셨고 또 나는 네가 이 밭에서 그 댓가를 반드시 치르도록 하겠다 라고 말씀하셨다. 그러므로 너는 여호와의 말씀대로 저 시체를 이 밭에 던져라.'
  2. 유다의 아하시야왕이 이것을 보고 벧-하간 쪽으로 도망하자 예후는 그를 추격하며 '저 자도 죽여라!' 하고 소리 쳤다. 그의 부하들이 이블르암에서 가까운 구르 비탈길에서 그를 치자 그는 부상을 입고 므깃도까지 도망하여 거기서 죽었다.
  3. 그래서 아하시야왕의 신하들이 그 시체를 마차에 싣고 예루살렘으로 가서 다윗성에 있는 그 조상들의 묘에 장사하였다.
  4. 아하시야가 유다의 왕이 된 것은 아합의 아들인 이스라엘의 요람왕 11년이었다.
  5. 그 후에 예후는 이스르엘로 갔다. 이세벨은 그가 왔다는 말을 듣고 눈화장을 하고 머리를 손질한 다음 창에서 내려다보다가
  1. As Jehu entered the gate, she asked, "Have you come in peace, Zimri, you murderer of your master?"
  2. He looked up at the window and called out, "Who is on my side? Who?" Two or three eunuchs looked down at him.
  3. "Throw her down!" Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot.
  4. Jehu went in and ate and drank. "Take care of that cursed woman," he said, "and bury her, for she was a king's daughter."
  5. But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands.
  1. 예후가 궁전 문으로 들어 오는 것을 보고 '자기 왕을 죽인 시므리 같은 놈아! 네가 여기 무슨 일로 왔느냐?' 하고 소리쳤다.
  2. 이때 예후가 창을 쳐다보고 '내 편이 될 자가 누구냐?' 하고 외치자 두세 명의 내시가 밖을 내다 보았다.
  3. 그래서 예후는 그들에게 '이세벨을 내던져라!' 하고 명령하였다. 그들이 이세벨을 내던지자 그 피가 벽과 말에 튀어 올랐다. 예후는 말과 전차를 몰아 그 시체를 짓밟은 다음
  4. 궁전으로 들어가서 먹고 마시며 이렇게 말하였다. '저 저주받은 여자를 묻어 주어라. 어쨌든 그녀는 왕의 딸이다.'
  5. 그러나 사람들이 그 시체를 묻으려고 갔을 때 두골과 손발 외에는 아무것도 없었다.
  1. They went back and told Jehu, who said, "This is the word of the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel's flesh.
  2. Jezebel's body will be like refuse on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, 'This is Jezebel.' "
  1. 그들이 돌아와서 이 사실을 보고하자 예후가 말하였다. '이것은 여호와의 말씀이 이루어진 것이다. 여호와께서는 그의 종 엘리야에게 이스르엘 개들이 이세벨의 시체를 뜯어먹을 것이며
  2. 그 뼈는 밭의 거름처럼 흩어져 그것이 이세벨의 뼈라는 것을 알아볼 사람이 아무도 없을 것이라고 말씀하셨다.'
 
  아합 왕가의 진멸(10:1-10:17)    
 
  1. Now there were in Samaria seventy sons of the house of Ahab. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria: to the officials of Jezreel, to the elders and to the guardians of Ahab's children. He said,
  2. "As soon as this letter reaches you, since your master's sons are with you and you have chariots and horses, a fortified city and weapons,
  3. choose the best and most worthy of your master's sons and set him on his father's throne. Then fight for your master's house."
  4. But they were terrified and said, "If two kings could not resist him, how can we?"
  5. So the palace administrator, the city governor, the elders and the guardians sent this message to Jehu: "We are your servants and we will do anything you say. We will not appoint anyone as king; you do whatever you think best."
  1. 사마리아성에 아합의 자손 70명이 살고 있었다. 그래서 예후는 그 성의 지도자들과 아합의 자손들을 보살펴 주고 있는 사람들에게 편지를 보냈는데 그 편지 내용은 다음과 같았다.
  2. '왕의 자손들이 너희와 함께 있고 또 너희에게는 전차와 말과 요새화된 성과 무기도 있다. 그러므로 너희는 이 편지를 받는 즉시
  3. 왕의 자손들 가운데 가장 유능한 자를 뽑아 그를 왕으로 세우고 그를 위해 싸울 준비를 하라.'
  4. 그러나 그들은 두려워하며 이렇게 말하였다. '두 왕도 예후를 당해 내지 못했는데 우리가 어떻게 그를 대적할 수 있겠는가?
  5. 그래서 궁중 대신과 그 성의 지도자들과 아합의 자손을 보살피는 자들이 예후에게 이런 전갈을 보냈다. '우리는 당신의 종이므로 당신이 말하는 것은 무엇이든지 하겠습니다. 우리는 아무도 왕을 세우지 않을 테니 당신이 좋을 대로 하십시오.'
  1. Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying, "If you are on my side and will obey me, take the heads of your master's sons and come to me in Jezreel by this time tomorrow." Now the royal princes, seventy of them, were with the leading men of the city, who were rearing them.
  2. When the letter arrived, these men took the princes and slaughtered all seventy of them. They put their heads in baskets and sent them to Jehu in Jezreel.
  3. When the messenger arrived, he told Jehu, "They have brought the heads of the princes." Then Jehu ordered, "Put them in two piles at the entrance of the city gate until morning."
  4. The next morning Jehu went out. He stood before all the people and said, "You are innocent. It was I who conspired against my master and killed him, but who killed all these?
  5. Know then, that not a word the LORD has spoken against the house of Ahab will fail. The LORD has done what he promised through his servant Elijah."
  1. 그래서 예후는 그들에게 다시 이런 편지를 보냈다. '너희가 만일 내 편이 되어 나에게 복종하려고 한다면 아합 자손들의 머리를 잘라 내일 이맘때까지 이스르엘로 와서 나에게 바쳐라' 70명의 아합 자손들은 그 성 지도자들의 보호를 받고 있었다.
  2. 예후의 편지가 도착하자 이 사람들은 아합의 자손들을 모조리 죽이고 그 머리를 바구니에 담아 이스르엘에 있는 예후에게 보냈다.
  3. 예후는 그들이 머리를 가져왔다는 말을 듣고 그것을 성문 입구에 두 무더기로 쌓아 다음 날 아침까지 그대로 두라고 명령하였다.
  4. 다음 날 아침 그는 성문으로 나가서 그 곳에 몰려든 군중들에게 이렇게 말하였다. '여러분에게는 아무 잘못이 없습니다. 요람왕을 반역하여 죽인 자는 바로 나입니다. 그러나 그의 자손들은 누가 죽였습니까?
  5. 여러분은 여호와께서 아합의 집안에 대하여 하신 말씀이 하나도 빠짐없이 이루어진다는 것을 알아야 합니다. 이제 여호와께서는 그의 종 엘리야를 통하여 예언하신 말씀을 다 이루셨습니다.'
  1. So Jehu killed everyone in Jezreel who remained of the house of Ahab, as well as all his chief men, his close friends and his priests, leaving him no survivor.
  2. Jehu then set out and went toward Samaria. At Beth Eked of the Shepherds,
  3. he met some relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and asked, "Who are you?" They said, "We are relatives of Ahaziah, and we have come down to greet the families of the king and of the queen mother."
  4. "Take them alive!" he ordered. So they took them alive and slaughtered them by the well of Beth Eked--forty-two men. He left no survivor.
  5. After he left there, he came upon Jehonadab son of Recab, who was on his way to meet him. Jehu greeted him and said, "Are you in accord with me, as I am with you?" "I am," Jehonadab answered. "If so," said Jehu, "give me your hand." So he did, and Jehu helped him up into the chariot.
  1. 그리고서 예후는 아합의 집안 사람 중 이스르엘에 남아 있는 자들을 모조리 죽이고 그의 신하들과 가까운 친구들, 그리고 그의 제사장들을 하나도 남기지 않고 몰살시켰다.
  2. 그 후에 예후는 사마리아로 가려고 이스르엘을 떠났다. 그는 도중에 '목자들의 집'이라는 곳에서
  3. 유다 왕 아하시야의 친척들을 만나 '너희는 누구냐?' 하고 물었다. 그러자 그들이 '우리는 아하시야왕의 친척들인데 이스라엘 왕족들에게 문안하려고 가는 중입니다.' 하고 대답하였다.
  4. 그때 예후가 그들을 체포하라고 명령하자 부하들이 그들을 잡아 웅덩이 곁으로 끌고 가서 하나도 남기지 않고 42명이나 되는 사람을 모조리 죽였다.
  5. 그런 다음 예후는 그 곳을 떠나가다가 레갑의 아들 여호나답을 만났다. 예후는 그를 맞으며 '너와 나는 마음이 같은데 네가 나를 돕겠느냐?' 하고 물었다. 여호나답이 그렇게 하겠다고 대답하자 '그러면 네 손을 내밀어라.' 하고 예후는 그와 악수한 다음 그를 끌어올려 자기 전차에 태우고 이렇게 말하였다.
  1. Jehu said, "Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD." Then he had him ride along in his chariot.
  2. When Jehu came to Samaria, he killed all who were left there of Ahab's family; he destroyed them, according to the word of the LORD spoken to Elijah.
  1. '너는 나와 함께 가서 내가 여호와를 위해 얼마나 열성적인지 두고 보아라.' 그들은 함께 전차를 타고
  2. 사마리아로 가서 아합의 친척들을 한 사람도 남기지 않고 모조리 죽였다. 이것은 여호와께서 엘리야에게 말씀하신 그대로 된 것이다.
