요엘

  본서는 유다에 임한 가뭄과 메뚜기 재앙을 통해 야웨의 심판하실 날이 임박했음을 선언하고 있으며, 전 인류에게 임할 오순절 성령 강림 사건을 명확하게 예언하고 있다.

  요엘은 메뚜기 재앙이 백성들의 죄와 불순종에서 왔음을 밝히고, 이는 장차 올 야웨의 심판의 전조임을 밝히면서 ‘야웨의 날’의 임박함을 선포하고 회개를 촉구하고 있다. 그리고 하나님께서 회개한 자들에게 성령을 부어 주셔서 하나님의 구원과 복을 누리게 될 것을 예언함으로써 그들에게 희망을 주고 있다.

 

 

요엘 1:1-2:17

 요엘은 유다 전역을 휩쓴 메뚜기 재앙이 하나님의 징계임을 알리면서 이 재앙으로 인해 온 유다 백성들과 자연이 받은 피해 상황을 자세히 묘사하였다. 그는 ‘야웨의 날’의 심판이 크고 심히 두렵다는 것과 그날이 임박했음을 말하면서 유다 백성들에게 금식과 마음을 찢는 회개를 요청하였다.
  
  메뚜기 재앙(1:1-1:20)    
 
  1. The word of the LORD that came to Joel son of Pethuel.
  2. Hear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your forefathers?
  3. Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.
  4. What the locust swarm has left the great locusts have eaten; what the great locusts have left the young locusts have eaten; what the young locusts have left other locusts have eaten.
  5. Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you drinkers of wine; wail because of the new wine, for it has been snatched from your lips.
  1. 이것은 여호와께서 브두엘의 아들 요엘에게 주신 말씀이다.
  2. 늙은 사람들아, 들어라. 이 땅에 사는 모든 사람들아, 귀를 기울여라. 너희 때와 너희 조상의 때에 이런 일이 있었느냐?
  3. 너희는 이 일을 너희 자녀들에게 말하고 너희 자녀들은 또 그들의 자녀들에게, 그들의 자녀들은 그 다음 세대에 말하게 하라.
  4. 팥중이가 남긴 것을 메뚜기 떼가 먹고 메뚜기 떼가 남긴 것을 느치가 먹고 느치가 남긴 것을 황충이 먹었다.
  5. 술에 취한 자들아, 너희는 깨어서 울어라. 포도주를 마시는 자들아, 너희는 통곡하라. 포도주를 만들 포도가 다 못쓰게 되었다.
  1. A nation has invaded my land, powerful and without number; it has the teeth of a lion, the fangs of a lioness.
  2. It has laid waste my vines and ruined my fig trees. It has stripped off their bark and thrown it away, leaving their branches white.
  3. Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth grieving for the husband of her youth.
  4. Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the house of the LORD. The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the LORD.
  5. The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up ; the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the oil fails.
  1. 큰 메뚜기 떼가 우리 땅을 습격하였으니 그것들은 강하고 무수히 많으며 그 이는 사자의 이 같고 그 어금니는 암사자의 어금니와 같다.
  2. 그것들이 우리 포도나무를 죽이고 우리 무화과나무를 씹어 껍질을 벗겨 버렸으므로 그 가지가 하얗게 되고 말았다.
  3. 너희는 처녀가 삼베 옷을 입고 약혼자의 죽음을 슬퍼하듯이 통곡하여라.
  4. 곡식으로 드리는 소제와 술로 드리는 전제가 성전에서 끊어졌으므로 여호와 앞에서 섬기는 제사장이 슬퍼하고 있다.
  5. 밭이 못쓰게 되고 땅이 메말라서 곡식이 다 죽고 포도주와 기름이 떨어졌다.
  1. Despair, you farmers, wail, you vine growers; grieve for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field is destroyed.
  2. The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree-- all the trees of the field--are dried up. Surely the joy of mankind is withered away.
  3. Put on sackcloth, O priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God.
  4. Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.
  5. Alas for that day! For the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.
  1. 농부들아, 슬퍼하여라. 포도를 재배하는 자들아, 통곡하여라. 밀과 보리와 밭의 농작물이 다 없어지고 말았다.
  2. 포도나무와 무화과나무가 말랐고 석류나무와 종려나무와 사과나무와 밭의 모든 나무들이 다 시들어 버렸으므로 사람들의 즐거움이 사라지고 말았다.
  3. 제사장들아, 너희는 굵은 삼베 옷을 입고 슬피 울어라. 제단 앞에서 섬기는 자들아, 너희는 통곡하여라. 내 하나님을 섬기는 자들아, 너희는 와서 굵은 삼베 옷을 입고 밤을 새워라. 너희 하나님께 소제를 드릴 곡식과 전제를 드릴 포도주가 없어졌다.
  4. 너희는 특별히 금식일을 정하고 거룩한 모임을 선포하여 장로들과 이 땅 모든 백성을 너희 하나님 여호와의 성전으로 모으고 여호와께 부르짖어라.
  5. 아, 무서운 날이여! 여호와의 날이 가까왔으니 전능자가 보내실 파멸의 날이다.
  1. Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes-- joy and gladness from the house of our God?
  2. The seeds are shriveled beneath the clods. The storehouses are in ruins, the granaries have been broken down, for the grain has dried up.
  3. How the cattle moan! The herds mill about because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
  4. To you, O LORD, I call, for fire has devoured the open pastures and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.
  5. Even the wild animals pant for you; the streams of water have dried up and fire has devoured the open pastures.
  1. 우리 눈 앞에서 양식이 없어지고 우리 하나님의 성전에서 기쁨과 즐거움이 사라지지 않았느냐?
  2. 씨가 땅속에서 썩었고 창고가 텅텅 비었으며 곳간이 무너졌으니 이것은 곡식이 시들어 버렸기 때문이다.
  3. 꼴이 없으므로 짐승이 탄식하고 소떼가 이리저리 방황하며 양떼도 고통스러워하는구나.
  4. 여호와여, 불이 목초지의 풀을 삼키고 불꽃이 들의 모든 나무를 태워 버렸습니다. 그래서 내가 주께 부르짖습니다.
  5. 시냇물이 다 마르고 불이 들의 풀을 삼켜 버렸으므로 들짐승까지 주께 부르짖고 있습니다.
 
  야웨의 날(2:1-2:17)    
 
  1. Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand-
  2. a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was of old nor ever will be in ages to come.
  3. Before them fire devours, behind them a flame blazes. Before them the land is like the garden of Eden, behind them, a desert waste-- nothing escapes them.
  4. They have the appearance of horses; they gallop along like cavalry.
  5. With a noise like that of chariots they leap over the mountaintops, like a crackling fire consuming stubble, like a mighty army drawn up for battle.
  1. 시온에서 나팔을 불고 하나님의 거룩한 산에서 경종을 울려 이 땅에 사는 모든 사람들을 떨게 하라. 여호와의 심판 날이 다가오고 있다.
  2. 그 날은 어둡고 침울한 날이며 캄캄하고 구름 낀 날이다. 새벽의 여명이 온 산을 뒤덮듯이 크고 강한 군대가 이르렀으니 이와같은 일은 전에도 없었고 앞으로도 없을 것이다.
  3. 불이 그들의 앞을 삼키고 불꽃이 그들의 뒤를 태우고 있다. 그들의 앞에 있는 땅은 에덴 동산 같고 그들의 뒤에 있는 땅은 황폐한 사막 같으니 그들을 피할 자가 없을 것이다.
  4. 그들은 모양이 말 같아서 기병처럼 달린다.
  5. 그들이 산꼭대기에서 뛰는 소리는 전차 소리 같고 마른 풀이 불에 타는 소리 같으며 그들이 전열을 갖춘 큰 군대처럼 늘어섰으니
  1. At the sight of them, nations are in anguish; every face turns pale.
  2. They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. They all march in line, not swerving from their course.
  3. They do not jostle each other; each marches straight ahead. They plunge through defenses without breaking ranks.
  4. They rush upon the city; they run along the wall. They climb into the houses; like thieves they enter through the windows.
  5. Before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
  1. 그들을 본 사람들이 질겁하여 새파랗게 질려 버렸다.
  2. 그들은 용사처럼 공격하며 무사처럼 성벽을 기어오르고 곧장 앞을 향하여 자기 대열을 벗어나지 않는다.
  3. 그들이 서로 부딪치지 않고 각자 자기 위치를 지키며 방어진을 뚫고 나아가나 대열이 끊어지지 않는구나.
  4. 그들이 성으로 뛰어들고 성벽 위로 달리며 집 안으로 기어오르고 도둑같이 창으로 들어가니
  5. 그들 앞에서 땅이 진동하며 하늘이 떨고 해와 달이 어두워지며 별들이 빛을 잃는다.
  1. The LORD thunders at the head of his army; his forces are beyond number, and mighty are those who obey his command. The day of the LORD is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?
  2. "Even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning."
  3. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
  4. Who knows? He may turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing-- grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God.
  5. Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly.
  1. 여호와께서 그 군대에게 명령을 내리시고 그의 명령을 수행하는 군대는 그 수가 엄청나고 막강하다. 여호와의 날이 무섭고 두려우니 누가 살아 남을 수 있겠는가? 너희 마음을 찢어라.
  2. 여호와께서 '너희는 지금이라도 금식하고 울고 애통하며 진심으로 뉘우치고 나에게 돌아오라.' 고 말씀하신다.
  3. 그러므로 너희는 옷을 찢을 것이 아니라 너희 마음을 찢고 너희 하나님 여호와에게 돌아오라. 그는 은혜롭고 자비로우시며 좀처럼 화를 내지 않으시고 사랑이 많으셔서 벌하는 것을 마음 아프게 여기는 분이시다.
  4. 혹시 너희 하나님 여호와께서 뜻을 돌이키시고 너희를 축복하셔서 너희 하나님께 소제를 드릴 곡식과 전제를 드릴 포도주를 주실는지 누가 알겠는가?
  5. 너희는 시온에서 나팔을 불어 특별히 금식일을 정하고 거룩한 모임을 선포하여
  1. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.
  2. Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the temple porch and the altar. Let them say, "Spare your people, O LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?' "
  1. 백성을 모으고 그 모임을 거룩하게 하라. 장로들을 데려오고 아이들과 젖먹이들을 모으며 신혼 부부도 그들의 방에서 나오게 하라.
  2. 여호와를 섬기는 제사장들은 성전 현관과 제단 사이에서 울며 이렇게 기도하라. '여호와여, 우리를 불쌍히 여기셔서 주의 백성인 우리가 이방 나라의 멸시와 조롱거리가 되지 않게 하소서. 어째서 이방 나라들에게 '너희 하나님이 어디 있느냐?' 하고 말하게 하십니까?'
