아모스 4:1-6:14

 아모스는 바산의 암소들로 비유되는 북이스라엘의 상류층 사람들에 대한 심판을 선포한 후, 여러 재앙을 당해도 도무지 회개하지 않고 형식적으로만 하나님을 섬기는 북이스라엘의 전 국민에게 심판을 선포하였다. 그는 북이스라엘의 멸망에 대한 애가를 불렀으며, 피할 수 없는 야웨의 날의 심판을 알렸다.
  
  북이스라엘의 심판(4:1-6:14)    
 
  1. Hear this word, you cows of Bashan on Mount Samaria, you women who oppress the poor and crush the needy and say to your husbands, "Bring us some drinks!"
  2. The Sovereign LORD has sworn by his holiness: "The time will surely come when you will be taken away with hooks, the last of you with fishhooks.
  3. You will each go straight out through breaks in the wall, and you will be cast out toward Harmon, " declares the LORD.
  4. "Go to Bethel and sin; go to Gilgal and sin yet more. Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years.
  5. Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings-- boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do," declares the Sovereign LORD.
  1. 바산의 암소처럼 살진 사마리아 여인들아, 이 말을 들어라. 너희는 가난한 자를 학대하며 힘없는 자를 억압하고 남편에게 마실 술을 가져오라고 요구하고 있다.
  2. 주 여호와께서 그의 거룩한 이름으로 맹세하며 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '사람들이 너희를 갈고리로 끌어가고 너희 남은 자들을 낚시 바늘에 걸린 고기처럼 모조리 끌어갈 날이 있을 것이다.
  3. 너희는 성벽이 무너진 곳으로 곧장 끌려나가 하르몬에 던져질 것이다.'
  4. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '이스라엘 사람들아 너희는 벧엘에 가서 죄를 짓고 길갈에 가서 더 많이 범죄하며 아침마다 희생의 제물을 드리고 3일마다 너희 십일조를 드리며
  5. 누룩 넣은 빵을 감사제로 드리고 자발적으로 드리는 낙헌제를 자랑하라. 이스라엘 백성들아, 이것이 너희가 하고 싶었던 일이 아니냐?
  1. "I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD.
  2. "I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain; another had none and dried up.
  3. People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD.
  4. "Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, I struck them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD.
  5. "I sent plagues among you as I did to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD.
  1. 내가 너희 모든 성에 기근이 닥치게 하여 곳곳에 양식이 떨어지게 하였으나 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다.
  2. 내가 또 추수하기 석 달 전에 너희에게 비가 그치게 하여 어떤 성에는 비가 내리게 하고 어떤 성에는 비가 내리지 않게 하였더니 어떤 지역은 비가 오고 어떤 지역은 비가 오지 않아 땅이 말라 버렸다.
  3. 여러 성에서 사람들이 비틀거리며 이곳 저곳으로 물을 찾아다녀도 마실 물을 얻지 못하였으나 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다.
  4. 내가 뜨거운 바람과 깜부기병을 보내 너희 농작물이 말라 죽게 하고 메뚜기 떼로 너희 정원과 포도밭과 무화과나무와 감람나무를 다 먹게 하였으나 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다.
  5. 내가 이집트에게 한 것처럼 너희에게 무서운 전염병을 보내고 너희 청년들을 칼로 죽였으며 너희 말들이 약탈당하게 하고 너희 진지에서 썩어 가는 시체의 악취로 너희 코를 찌르게 하였으나 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다.
  1. "I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD.
  2. "Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel."
  3. He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth-- the LORD God Almighty is his name.
  1. 내가 소돔과 고모라를 무너뜨린 것처럼 너희 일부 성들을 무너뜨렸으므로 너희가 불에서 끄집어낸 타다 남은 나무 토막처럼 되었으나 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다.
  2. 그러므로 이스라엘 백성들아, 내가 너희를 벌하겠다. 내가 다시 너희에게 이 모든 재앙을 내릴 것이다. 너희는 심판할 너희 하나님을 만날 준비를 하라.'
  3. 산을 만들고 바람을 창조하며 자기 생각을 사람에게 알리고 낮을 밤이 되게 하며 땅의 높은 곳을 밟는 분이 있으니 그의 이름은 전능하신 하나님 여호와이시다.
 
 
  1. Hear this word, O house of Israel, this lament I take up concerning you:
  2. "Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again, deserted in her own land, with no one to lift her up."
  3. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "The city that marches out a thousand strong for Israel will have only a hundred left; the town that marches out a hundred strong will have only ten left."
  4. This is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: "Seek me and live;
  5. do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba. For Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will be reduced to nothing. "
  1. 이스라엘 백성아, 내가 너희를 위해 지은 이 애가를 들어라.
  2. '처녀 이스라엘이 쓰러졌으니 다시는 일어나지 못하겠네. 자기 땅에 버려졌으니 일으킬 자 없으리라.'
  3. 주 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '이스라엘에서 천 명을 출전시킨 성에서는 백명만 살아 남고 백 명을 출전시킨 성에서는 열 명만 살아 남을 것이다.'
  4. 여호와께서 이스라엘 백성에게 말씀하신다. '너희는 나를 찾아라. 그러면 살 것이다.
  5. 너희는 벧엘을 찾지 말고 길갈로 들어가지 말며 브엘세바에 가지도 말아라. 길갈 사람은 포로로 잡혀갈 것이며 벧엘은 비참하게 될 것이다.'
  1. Seek the LORD and live, or he will sweep through the house of Joseph like a fire; it will devour, and Bethel will have no one to quench it.
  2. You who turn justice into bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground
  3. (he who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns blackness into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land-- the LORD is his name-
  4. he flashes destruction on the stronghold and brings the fortified city to ruin),
  5. you hate the one who reproves in court and despise him who tells the truth.
  1. 너희는 여호와를 찾아라. 그러면 살 것이다. 그렇지 않으면 그가 불같이 이스라엘을 휩쓸어 소멸할 것이다. 벧엘에서 그 불을 끌 자가 없을 것이다.
  2. 공정을 쑥처럼 만들고 정의를 땅에 던지는 자들아,
  3. 묘성과 오리온 성좌를 만드셨고 어두움을 아침이 되게 하시며 낮을 밤이 되게 하시고 바닷물을 불러모아 지면에 쏟으시는 자를 찾아라. 그 이름은 여호와이시다.
  4. 그는 눈 깜짝할 사이에 강한 자를 패망케 하고 그 요새를 부수시는 분이시다.
  5. 너희는 법정에서 책망하는 자를 미워하고 사실대로 말하는 자를 멸시하고 있다.
  1. You trample on the poor and force him to give you grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine.
  2. For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. You oppress the righteous and take bribes and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts.
  3. Therefore the prudent man keeps quiet in such times, for the times are evil.
  4. Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.
  5. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.
  1. 너희가 가난한 자들을 짓밟고 그들에게서 부당하게 곡식을 거둬들였으므로 너희가 훌륭한 석조 건물을 지어도 거기서 살지 못할 것이며 너희가 아름다운 포도원을 가꾸어도 그 포도주를 마시지 못할 것이다.
  2. 너희 허물이 많고 너희 죄가 큰 것을 나는 안다 너희는 의로운 자를 학대하며 뇌물을 받고 법정에서 가난한 자를 억울하게 하고 있다.
  3. 그러므로 이런 악한 때에 지혜로운 자는 침묵을 지킨다.
  4. 너희가 살려고 하면 악이 아닌 선을 추구하라. 전능하신 하나님 여호와께서 너희 말대로 너희와 함께 하실 것이다.
  5. 너희는 악을 미워하고 선을 사랑하며 법정에서 공정을 기하라. 어쩌면 전능하신 하나님 여호와께서 살아 남은 백성을 불쌍히 여기실지도 모른다.
  1. Therefore this is what the Lord, the LORD God Almighty, says: "There will be wailing in all the streets and cries of anguish in every public square. The farmers will be summoned to weep and the mourners to wail.
  2. There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst," says the LORD.
  3. Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD! Why do you long for the day of the LORD ? That day will be darkness, not light.
  4. It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him.
  5. Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light-- pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?
  1. 그러므로 전능하신 하나님 주 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '모든 광장에 통곡 소리가 있을 것이며 모든 거리에 탄식 소리가 있을 것이다. 농부를 불러다가 울게 하고 우는 자를 불러다가 통곡하게 할 것이며
  2. 모든 포도원에도 슬피 우는 소리가 있을 것이다. 이것은 내가 너희를 벌하려고 너희 가운데로 지나갈 것이기 때문이다.'
  3. 여호와의 날을 사모하는 자에게 화가 있을 것이다. 너희가 어째서 여호와의 날을 사모하느냐? 그것은 어두움의 날이요 빛의 날이 아니다.
  4. 그 날은 너희에게 사람이 사자를 피하다가 곰을 만난 것 같고 집에 들어가서 벽에 손을 대다가 뱀에게 물린 것 같을 것이다.
  5. 여호와의 날은 빛이 없어 어둡고 캄캄하며 소망 없는 날이다.
  1. "I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies.
  2. Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them.
  3. Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
  4. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!
  5. "Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the desert, O house of Israel?
  1. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '나는 너희 종교적 행사를 싫어하고 경멸하며 너희 모임을 기뻐하지 않는다.
  2. 너희가 나에게 불로 태워 바치는 번제나 곡식으로 드리는 소제를 드려도 내가 받지 않을 것이며 살진 짐승으로 화목제를 드려도 내가 거들떠보지 않을 것이다.
  3. 너희는 내 앞에서 노래 소리를 그쳐라. 너희 비파 소리를 내가 듣지 않을 것이다.
  4. 오히려 너희는 공정을 물처럼 흐르게 하고 정의를 마르지 않는 시내처럼 흐르게 하라.
  5. 이스라엘 백성들아, 너희가 40년동안 광야에서 정말 나에게 희생의 제물과 곡식의 소제물을 드렸느냐?
  1. You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols, the star of your god -- which you made for yourselves.
  2. Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus," says the LORD, whose name is God Almighty.
  1. 너희는 너희 손으로 만든 너희 임금 신 식굿과 너희 별 신 기윤을 메고 다녔다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 너희를 다마스커스 밖으로 사로잡혀가게 할 것이다. 이것은 전능한 하나님 나 여호와의 말이다.'
 
 
  1. Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!
  2. Go to Calneh and look at it; go from there to great Hamath, and then go down to Gath in Philistia. Are they better off than your two kingdoms? Is their land larger than yours?
  3. You put off the evil day and bring near a reign of terror.
  4. You lie on beds inlaid with ivory and lounge on your couches. You dine on choice lambs and fattened calves.
  5. You strum away on your harps like David and improvise on musical instruments.
  1. 시온에서 안일하게 살고 사마리아에서 마음 편하게 지내며 이스라엘 백성 가운데서도 유명하여 인기를 얻는 자들아, 너희에게 화가 있을 것이다.
  2. 너희는 갈레성으로 가서 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는지 보아라. 그리고 거기서 큰 하맛으로 가고 또 블레셋 사람의 성인 가드로 내려가 보아라. 그 나라들이 유다와 이스라엘보다 나은가? 그들의 토지가 너희 토지보다 넓은가?
  3. 너희는 재앙의 날이 다가오고 있음을 인정하지 않으려고 하지만 너희 행위는 그 날을 더 가까이 오게 하고 있다.
  4. 너는 상아 침대에 눕고 호화스러운 안락의자에서 기지개를 켜며 제일 좋은 양고기와 송아지 고기를 먹고
  5. 다윗처럼 즉석에서 노래를 지어 수금에 맞춰 흥얼거리며
  1. You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph.
  2. Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end.
  3. The Sovereign LORD has sworn by himself--the LORD God Almighty declares: "I abhor the pride of Jacob and detest his fortresses; I will deliver up the city and everything in it."
  4. If ten men are left in one house, they too will die.
  5. And if a relative who is to burn the bodies comes to carry them out of the house and asks anyone still hiding there, "Is anyone with you?" and he says, "No," then he will say, "Hush! We must not mention the name of the LORD."
  1. 대접으로 포도주를 마시고 귀한 향수를 몸에 바르면서도 이스라엘이 당할 파멸에 대해서는 슬퍼하지 않는다.
  2. 그러므로 너희가 제일 먼저 사로잡혀갈 것이다. 호의호식하면서 빈둥거리던 너희 생활이 끝장날 것이다.
  3. 전능하신 하나님 주 여호와께서 맹세하며 말씀하신다. '내가 이스라엘 백성의 교만을 싫어하고 그들의 호화로운 저택을 경멸한다. 그러므로 내가 이 성과 성 안에 있는 모든 것을 그 대적에게 넘겨 주겠다.'
  4. 한 집에 열 사람이 남아 있어도 다 죽을 것이다.
  5. 죽은 사람의 시체를 묻을 친척이 그 시체를 집 밖으로 가져가면서 그 집에 아직 숨어 있는 자에게 '너와 함께 있는 자가 있느냐?' 하고 물었을 때 그가 아무도 없다고 대답하면 저가 그에게 '조용히 하라! 우리가 여호와의 이름을 불러서는 안 된다.' 하고 말할 것이다.
  1. For the LORD has given the command, and he will smash the great house into pieces and the small house into bits.
  2. Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness-
  3. you who rejoice in the conquest of Lo Debar and say, "Did we not take Karnaim by our own strength?"
  4. For the LORD God Almighty declares, "I will stir up a nation against you, O house of Israel, that will oppress you all the way from Lebo Hamath to the valley of the Arabah."
  1. 여호와께서 명령을 내리시면 큰 집이 갈라지고 작은 집은 박살날 것이다.
  2. 말이 바위산에서 달릴 수 있으며 사람이 소로 그 곳을 경작할 수 있겠느냐? 그러나 너희는 정의를 독약으로, 의의 열매를 쓸개로 바꾸고
  3. 헛된 것을 기뻐하며 보잘 것없는 너희 힘을 자랑하고 있다.
  4. 전능하신 하나님 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '이스라엘 백성아, 내가 한 나라를 일으켜 너희를 치겠다. 그 나라가 북으로 하맛 고개에서부터 남으로 아라바 시내에 이르기까지 너희를 괴롭힐 것이다.'
 
  인진(茵蔯, 5:7)  독초의 일종으로 ‘쑥’이나 ‘쓴 것’으로 번역됨
