창세기 39:1-40:23

 애굽의 시위 대장 보디발의 집에 팔려 간 요셉은 하나님께서 함께하심으로 그 집의 가정 총무가 되었다. 요셉의 준수함을 본 보디발의 아내가 요셉을 유혹했으나, 하나님을 경외하는 요셉은 그 유혹을 거절하였다. 그 결과 그녀의 진노를 사게 된 요셉은 중죄수를 다루는 감옥에 갇히게 되었다. 그 곳에서 요셉은 술 관원장과 떡 관원장의 꿈을 풀어 주었다. 그러나 요셉이 해몽한 대로 감옥에서 풀려나 복직된 술 관원장은 요셉의 공로를 잊어버리고 말았다.
  
  보디발의 집에서의 요셉(39:1-39:23)    
 
  1. Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh's officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there.
  2. The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.
  3. When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did,
  4. Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.
  5. From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.
  1. 요셉이 이집트로 끌려갔다. 요셉을 이집트로 끌고 내려간 이스마엘 사람들은, 바로의 신하인 경호대장 이집트 사람 보디발에게 요셉을 팔았다.
  2. 주님께서 요셉과 함께 계셔서, 앞길이 잘 열리도록 그를 돌보셨다. 요셉은 그 주인 이집트 사람의 집에서 살게 되었다.
  3. 그 주인은, 주님께서 요셉과 함께 계시며, 요셉이 하는 일마다 잘 되도록 주님께서 돌보신다는 것을 알았다.
  4. 주인은, 요셉이 눈에 들어서, 그를 심복으로 삼고, 집안 일과 재산을 모두 요셉에게 맡겨 관리하게 하였다.
  5. 그가 요셉에게 자기의 집안 일과 그 모든 재산을 맡겨서 관리하게 한 그 때부터, 주님께서 요셉을 보시고, 그 이집트 사람의 집에 복을 내리셨다. 주님께서 내리시는 복이, 주인의 집 안에 있는 것이든지, 밭에 있는 것이든지, 그 주인이 가진 모든 것에 미쳤다.
  1. So he left in Joseph's care everything he had; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome,
  2. and after a while his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me!"
  3. But he refused. "With me in charge," he told her, "my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care.
  4. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?"
  5. And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.
  1. 그래서 그 주인은, 자기가 가진 모든 것을 요셉에게 맡겨서 관리하게 하고, 자기의 먹거리를 빼고는 아무것도 간섭하지 않았다. 요셉은 용모가 준수하고 잘생긴 미남이었다.
  2. 일이 이렇게 된 지 얼마 지나지 않아서, 주인의 아내가 요셉에게 눈짓을 하며 "나하고 침실로 가요!" 하고 꾀었다.
  3. 그러나 요셉은 거절하면서, 주인의 아내에게 말하였다. "주인께서는, 모든 것을 나에게 맡겨 관리하게 하시고는, 집안 일에는 아무 간섭도 하지 않으십니다. 주인께서는, 가지신 모든 것을 나에게 맡기셨으므로,
  4. 이 집안에서는, 나의 위에는 아무도 없습니다. 나의 주인께서 나의 마음대로 하지 못하게 한 것은 한 가지뿐입니다. 그것은 마님입니다. 마님은 주인 어른의 부인이시기 때문입니다. 그런데 내가 어찌 이런 나쁜 일을 저질러서, 하나님을 거역하는 죄를 지을 수 있겠습니까?"
  5. 요셉이 이렇게 말하였는데도, 주인의 아내는 날마다 끈질기게 요셉에게 요구해 왔다. 요셉은, 그 여인과 함께 침실로 가지도 않았을 뿐만 아니라, 아예 그 여인과 함께 있지도 않았다.
  1. One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside.
  2. She caught him by his cloak and said, "Come to bed with me!" But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.
  3. When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house,
  4. she called her household servants. "Look," she said to them, "this Hebrew has been brought to us to make sport of us! He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed.
  5. When he heard me scream for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house."
  1. 하루는 요셉이 할 일이 있어서 집 안으로 들어갔는데, 그 집 종들이 집 안에 하나도 없었다.
  2. 여인이 요셉의 옷을 붙잡고 "나하고 침실로 가요!" 하고 졸랐다. 그러나 요셉은, 붙잡힌 자기의 옷을 그의 손에 버려 둔 채, 뿌리치고 집 바깥으로 뛰어나갔다.
  3. 여인은, 요셉이 그 옷을 자기의 손에 버려 둔 채 집 바깥으로 뛰어나가는 것을 보고,
  4. 집에서 일하는 종들을 불러다가 말하였다. "이것 좀 보아라. 주인이, 우리를 웃음거리로 만들려고 이 히브리 녀석을 데려다 놓았구나. 그가 나를 욕보이려고 달려들기에, 내가 고함을 질렀더니,
  5. 그는 내가 고함지르는 소리를 듣고, 제 옷을 여기에 내버리고, 바깥으로 뛰어나갔다."
  1. She kept his cloak beside her until his master came home.
  2. Then she told him this story: "That Hebrew slave you brought us came to me to make sport of me.
  3. But as soon as I screamed for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house."
  4. When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, "This is how your slave treated me," he burned with anger.
  5. Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison,
  1. 이렇게 말하고, 그 여인은 그 옷을 곁에 놓고, 주인이 집으로 돌아오기를 기다렸다.
  2. 주인이 돌아오자, 그에게 이렇게 일러바쳤다. "당신이 데려다 놓은 저 히브리 사람이, 나를 농락하려고 나에게 달려들었어요.
  3. 내가 사람 살리라고 고함을 질렀더니, 옷을 내 앞에 버려 두고, 바깥으로 뛰어나갔어요."
  4. 주인은 자기 아내에게서 "당신의 종이 나에게 이 같은 행패를 부렸어요" 하는 말을 듣고서, 화가 치밀어올랐다.
  5. 요셉의 주인은 요셉을 잡아서 감옥에 가두었다. 그 곳은 왕의 죄수들을 가두는 곳이었다. 요셉이 감옥에 갇혔으나,
  1. the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
  2. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.
  3. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.
  1. 주님께서 그와 함께 계시면서 돌보아 주시고, 그를 한결같이 사랑하셔서, 간수장의 눈에 들게 하셨다.
  2. 간수장은 감옥 안에 있는 죄수를 모두 요셉에게 맡기고, 감옥 안에서 일어나는 온갖 일을 요셉이 혼자 처리하게 하였다.
  3. 간수장은 요셉에게 모든 일을 맡기고, 아무것도 간섭하지 않았다. 그렇게 된 것은 주님께서 요셉과 함께 계시기 때문이며, 주님께서 요셉을 돌보셔서, 그가 하는 일은 무엇이나 다 잘 되게 해주셨기 때문이다.
 
  요셉의 해몽(40:1-40:23)    
 
  1. Some time later, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt offended their master, the king of Egypt.
  2. Pharaoh was angry with his two officials, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker,
  3. and put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the same prison where Joseph was confined.
  4. The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he attended them. After they had been in custody for some time,
  5. each of the two men--the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were being held in prison--had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.
  1. 이런 일들이 있은 지 얼마 뒤에, 이집트 왕에게 술잔을 올리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장이, 그들의 상전인 이집트 왕에게 잘못을 저지른 일이 있었다.
  2. 바로가 그 두 시종장 곧 술잔을 올리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장에게 노하여서,
  3. 그들을 경호대장의 집 안에 있는 감옥에 가두었는데, 그 곳은 요셉이 갇힌 감옥이었다.
  4. 경호대장이 요셉을 시켜서 그 시종장들의 시중을 들게 하였으므로, 요셉이 그들을 받들었다. 그들이 갇힌 지 얼마 뒤에,
  5. 감옥에 갇힌 두 사람 곧 이집트 왕에게 술잔을 올리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장이, 같은 날 밤에 꿈을 꾸었는데, 꿈의 내용이 저마다 달랐다.
  1. When Joseph came to them the next morning, he saw that they were dejected.
  2. So he asked Pharaoh's officials who were in custody with him in his master's house, "Why are your faces so sad today?"
  3. "We both had dreams," they answered, "but there is no one to interpret them." Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams."
  4. So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream. He said to him, "In my dream I saw a vine in front of me,
  5. and on the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters ripened into grapes.
  1. 다음날 아침에 요셉이 그들에게 갔는데, 요셉은 그들에게 근심스런 빛이 있음을 보았다.
  2. 그래서 요셉은, 자기 주인의 집에 자기와 함께 갇혀 있는 바로의 두 시종장에게 물었다. "오늘은 안색이 좋아 보이지 않습니다. 왜 그러십니까?"
  3. 그들이 그에게 대답하였다. "우리가 꿈을 꾸었는데, 해몽할 사람이 없어서 그러네." 요셉이 그들에게 말하였다. "해몽은, 하나님이 하시는 것이 아닙니까? 나에게 말씀하여 보시기 바랍니다."
  4. 술잔을 올리는 시종장이, 자기가 꾼 꿈 이야기를 요셉에게 하였다. "내가 꿈에 보니, 나의 앞에 포도나무가 있고,
  5. 그 나무에는 가지가 셋이 있는데, 거기에서 싹이 나더니, 곧 꽃이 피고, 포도송이가 익었네.
  1. Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup and put the cup in his hand."
  2. "This is what it means," Joseph said to him. "The three branches are three days.
  3. Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your position, and you will put Pharaoh's cup in his hand, just as you used to do when you were his cupbearer.
  4. But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison.
  5. For I was forcibly carried off from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing to deserve being put in a dungeon."
  1. 바로의 잔이 나의 손에 들려 있기에, 내가 포도를 따다가, 바로의 잔에 그 즙을 짜서, 그 잔을 바로의 손에 올렸지."
  2. 요셉이 그에게 말하였다. "해몽은 이러합니다. 가지 셋은 사흘을 말합니다.
  3. 앞으로 사흘이 되면, 바로께서 시종장을 불러내서, 직책을 되돌려 주실 것입니다. 시종장께서는 전날 술잔을 받들어 올린 것처럼, 바로의 손에 술잔을 올리게 될 것입니다.
  4. 시종장께서 잘 되시는 날에, 나를 기억하여 주시고, 나를 따로 생각해 주시기 바랍니다. 그리고 바로에게 나의 사정을 말씀드려서, 나도 이 감옥에서 풀려나게 해주시기 바랍니다.
  5. 나는 히브리 사람이 사는 땅에서 강제로 끌려온 사람입니다. 그리고 여기에서도 내가 이런 구덩이 감옥에 들어올 만한 일은 하지 않았습니다."
  1. When the chief baker saw that Joseph had given a favorable interpretation, he said to Joseph, "I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread.
  2. In the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head."
  3. "This is what it means," Joseph said. "The three baskets are three days.
  4. Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and hang you on a tree. And the birds will eat away your flesh."
  5. Now the third day was Pharaoh's birthday, and he gave a feast for all his officials. He lifted up the heads of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker in the presence of his officials:
  1. 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장도 그 해몽을 듣고 보니 좋아서, 요셉에게 말하였다. "나도 한 꿈을 꾸었는데, 나는 빵이 담긴 바구니 세 개를 머리에 이고 있었네.
  2. 제일 위에 있는 바구니에는, 바로에게 드릴 온갖 구운 빵이 있었는데, 새들이, 내가 이고 있는 바구니 안에서 그것들을 먹었네."
  3. 요셉이 말하였다. "해몽은 이러합니다. 바구니 셋은 사흘을 말합니다.
  4. 앞으로 사흘이 되면, 바로께서 시종장을 불러내서, 목을 베고 나무에 매다실 터인데, 새들이 시종장의 주검을 쪼아 먹을 것입니다."
  5. 그러한 지 사흘째 되는 날, 그 날은 바로의 생일인데, 왕은 신하들을 다 불러모으고 잔치를 베풀었다. 술잔을 올리는 시종장과 빵을 구워 올리는 시종장이, 신하들이 모인 자리에 불려 나갔다.
  1. He restored the chief cupbearer to his position, so that he once again put the cup into Pharaoh's hand,
  2. but he hanged the chief baker, just as Joseph had said to them in his interpretation.
  3. The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.
  1. 바로에게 술을 따라 올리는 시종장은 직책이 회복되어서, 잔에 술을 따라서 바로의 손에 올리게 되고,
  2. 빵을 구워 바치는 시종장은 매달려서 처형되니, 요셉이 그들에게 해몽하여 준 대로 되었다.
  3. 그러나 술잔을 올리는 시종장은 요셉을 기억하지 못하였다. 그는 요셉을 잊고 있었다.
 
  득의(得意, 40:14)  일이 잘됨
