민수기 16:12-17:13

 고라와 다단, 아비람, 온, 그리고 250명의 지도자들이 당을 지어 출애굽 자체를 악평하고 가나안 입성의 실패에 대한 책임을 모세와 아론에게 전가하며 반역을 일으켰다. 이에 하나님께서는 그들을 준엄하게 심판하셨다. 그리고 아론의 마른 지팡이에 싹이 나는 기적을 행하심으로써 아론의 제사장직의 정당성을 확증하셨다.
  
  고라 일당의 반역(16:12-16:50)    
 
  1. Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab. But they said, "We will not come!
  2. Isn't it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the desert? And now you also want to lord it over us?
  3. Moreover, you haven't brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you gouge out the eyes of these men? No, we will not come!"
  4. Then Moses became very angry and said to the LORD, "Do not accept their offering. I have not taken so much as a donkey from them, nor have I wronged any of them."
  5. Moses said to Korah, "You and all your followers are to appear before the LORD tomorrow--you and they and Aaron.
  1. 모세는 또 사람을 시켜, 엘리압의 아들 다단과 아비람을 불렀다. 그러나 그들은 이렇게 말하였다. "우리는 가지 않겠소!
  2. 우리를 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅에서 이끌어 내어, 이 광야에서 죽이는 것으로도 부족하단 말이오? 이제 당신은 우리 위에 군주처럼 군림하기까지 할 셈이오?
  3. 더욱이 당신은 우리를, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅으로 인도하지도 못했소. 밭과 포도원도 우리에게 유산으로 주지 못하였소. 당신은 이 사람들의 눈을 뺄 작정이오? 우리는 못 가오."
  4. 모세는 몹시 화가 나서 주님께 아뢰었다. "저 사람들이 바치는 제물은 바라보지도 마십시오. 저는 저 사람들에게서 나귀 한 마리도 빼앗은 일이 없습니다. 저들 가운데 어느 한 사람에게도 잘못한 일이 없습니다."
  5. 모세가 고라에게 말하였다. "당신과 당신의 모든 사람은 내일 주님 앞에 나오시오. 당신과 그들과 아론이 함께 설 것이오.
  1. Each man is to take his censer and put incense in it--250 censers in all--and present it before the LORD. You and Aaron are to present your censers also."
  2. So each man took his censer, put fire and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
  3. When Korah had gathered all his followers in opposition to them at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, the glory of the LORD appeared to the entire assembly.
  4. The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
  5. "Separate yourselves from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once."
  1. 각자 자기의 향로를 들고, 그 안에 향을 담아가지고, 주님 앞으로 나와야 하오. 각자가 향로를 가지고 오면, 향로는 모두 이백오십 개가 될 것이오. 당신과 아론도 각자 향로를 가져 와야 하오."
  2. 그래서 각자 자기의 향로를 가지고 와서, 거기에 불을 피우고, 그 안에 향을 넣어서, 회막 어귀에 섰다. 모세와 아론도 함께 있었다.
  3. 고라는 온 회중을 모두 회막 어귀에 모아 두 사람과 대결하게 하였다. 갑자기 주님의 영광이 온 회중에게 나타났다.
  4. 주님께서 모세와 아론에게 다음과 같이 말씀하셨다.
  5. "너희는 이 회중에게서 따로 떨어져라. 내가 그들을 순식간에 없애 버리겠다."
  1. But Moses and Aaron fell facedown and cried out, "O God, God of the spirits of all mankind, will you be angry with the entire assembly when only one man sins?"
  2. Then the LORD said to Moses,
  3. "Say to the assembly, 'Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.' "
  4. Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him.
  5. He warned the assembly, "Move back from the tents of these wicked men! Do not touch anything belonging to them, or you will be swept away because of all their sins."
  1. 그러나 모세와 아론이 땅에 엎드려 부르짖었다. "하나님, 모든 육체에 숨을 불어넣어 주시는 하나님, 죄는 한 사람이 지었는데, 어찌 온 회중에게 진노하십니까?"
  2. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
  3. "너는 회중에게 고라와 다단과 아비람의 거처 가까이에서 떠나라고 하여라."
  4. 모세가 일어나 다단과 아비람에게로 가니, 이스라엘 장로들도 그를 따랐다.
  5. 그는 회중에게 경고하였다. "당신들은 이 악한 사람들의 장막에서 물러서시오! 그들에게 딸린 어느 것 하나도 건드리지 마시오. 건드렸다가는, 그들의 죄에 휘말려 함께 망할 것이오."
  1. So they moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram had come out and were standing with their wives, children and little ones at the entrances to their tents.
  2. Then Moses said, "This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things and that it was not my idea:
  3. If these men die a natural death and experience only what usually happens to men, then the LORD has not sent me.
  4. But if the LORD brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the grave, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt."
  5. As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart
  1. 그러자 회중은 고라와 다단과 아비람의 거처 주변에서 물러섰다. 다단과 아비람은 밖으로 나와서, 그들의 장막 어귀에 섰다. 그들의 아내와 아이들과 어린 것들도 함께 섰다.
  2. 그 때에 모세가 말하였다. "당신들은 이제 곧 이 모든 일이 내 뜻대로 된 것이 아니라, 이 모든 일을 하도록 주님께서 나를 보내셔서 된 일임을 알게 될 것이오.
  3. 이 사람들이 보통 사람이 죽는 것과 같이 죽는다면, 곧 모든 사람이 겪는 것과 같은 죽음으로 죽는다면, 주님께서 나를 보내신 것이 아니오.
  4. 그러나 주님께서, 당신들이 듣도 보도 못한 일을 일으켜서, 땅이 그 입을 벌려, 그들과 그들에게 딸린 모든 것을 삼켜, 그들이 산 채로 스올로 내려가게 되면, 그 때에 당신들은 이 사람들이 주님을 업신여겨서 벌을 받았다는 것을 알게 될 것이오."
  5. 그가 이 모든 말을 마치자마자, 그들이 딛고 선 땅바닥이 갈라지고,
  1. and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, with their households and all Korah's men and all their possessions.
  2. They went down alive into the grave, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community.
  3. At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting, "The earth is going to swallow us too!"
  4. And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.
  5. The LORD said to Moses,
  1. 땅이 그 입을 벌려, 그들과 그들의 집안과 고라를 따르던 모든 사람과 그들의 모든 소유를 삼켜 버렸다.
  2. 그리고 그들과 합세한 모든 사람도 산 채로 스올로 내려갔고, 땅은 그들을 덮어 버렸다. 그들은 이렇게 회중 가운데서 사라졌다.
  3. 그들의 아우성 소리에, 주변에 있던 모든 이스라엘 사람들은 "땅이 우리마저 삼키려 하는구나!" 하고 소리치며 달아났다.
  4. 주님께로부터 불이 나와, 향을 바치던 이백오십 명을 살라 버렸다.
  5. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
  1. "Tell Eleazar son of Aaron, the priest, to take the censers out of the smoldering remains and scatter the coals some distance away, for the censers are holy-
  2. the censers of the men who sinned at the cost of their lives. Hammer the censers into sheets to overlay the altar, for they were presented before the LORD and have become holy. Let them be a sign to the Israelites."
  3. So Eleazar the priest collected the bronze censers brought by those who had been burned up, and he had them hammered out to overlay the altar,
  4. as the LORD directed him through Moses. This was to remind the Israelites that no one except a descendant of Aaron should come to burn incense before the LORD, or he would become like Korah and his followers.
  5. The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. "You have killed the LORD's people," they said.
  1. "너는 제사장 아론의 아들 엘르아살에게 일러서, 불 탄 자리에서 향로들을 모으게 하고, 타다 남은 불은 다른 곳에 쏟게 하여라. 이 향로들은 아무나 만져서는 안 된다.
  2. 그 향로를 가지고 있던 사람들은 죄를 짓고 목숨을 잃었지만, 그 향로는 그들이 주 앞에 드렸던 것으로, 이미 거룩하게 된 것인 만큼, 향로를 망치로 두들겨 펴서 제단에 씌우도록 하여라. 이스라엘 자손에게 이것이 경고가 될 것이다."
  3. 제사장 엘르아살이, 불에 타 죽은 사람들이 주님께 드렸던 그 놋향로들을 거두어다가, 망치로 두들겨 펴서 제단 위에 씌웠다.
  4. 엘르아살은, 주님께서 모세를 시켜 말씀하신 대로 다 하였다. 그가 이렇게 한 것은, 아론 자손이 아닌 다른 사람들은, 어느 누구도 절대로 주 앞에 가까이 가서 분향할 수 없다는 것과, 누구든지 그렇게 하였다가는 고라와 그와 합세하였던 사람들처럼 된다는 것을, 이스라엘 자손에게 상기시키려 한 것이다.
  5. 이튿날, 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 모세와 아론에게 항거하면서 말하였다. "당신들이 주님의 백성을 죽였소."
  1. But when the assembly gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the Tent of Meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared.
  2. Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting,
  3. and the LORD said to Moses,
  4. "Get away from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once." And they fell facedown.
  5. Then Moses said to Aaron, "Take your censer and put incense in it, along with fire from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the LORD; the plague has started."
  1. 온 회중이 모세와 아론을 규탄할 때에, 모세와 아론이 회막 쪽을 바라보니, 회막에 갑자기 구름이 덮이고, 주님의 영광이 거기에 나타났다.
  2. 모세와 아론이 회막 앞으로 가니,
  3. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
  4. "너희 두 사람은 이 회중에게서 떠나라. 그들을 내가 순식간에 없애 버리겠다." 이 말을 듣고, 두 사람이 땅에 엎드렸다.
  5. 모세가 아론에게 말하였다. "형님께서는, 향로에 제단 불을 담고, 그 위에 향을 피워, 빨리 회중에게로 가서, 그들을 위하여 속죄의 예식을 베푸십시오. 주님께서 진노하셔서, 재앙이 시작되었습니다."
  1. So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them.
  2. He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.
  3. But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah.
  4. Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, for the plague had stopped.
  1. 아론이 모세의 말을 듣고, 향로를 가지고 회중에게로 달려갔다. 백성 사이에는 이미 염병이 번지고 있었다. 아론이 백성에게 속죄의 예식을 베풀었다.
  2. 아론이 살아 있는 사람과 죽은 사람 사이에 서니, 재앙이 그쳤다.
  3. 이 염병으로 죽은 사람이 만 사천칠백 명이나 되었다. 이것은 고라의 일로 죽은 사람 수는 뺀 것이다.
  4. 재앙이 그치자, 아론은 회막 어귀에 있는 모세에게로 돌아왔다.
 
  아론의 싹난 지팡이(17:1-17:13)    
 
  1. The LORD said to Moses,
  2. "Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.
  3. On the staff of Levi write Aaron's name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe.
  4. Place them in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you.
  5. The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites."
  1. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
  2. "너는 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 그들에게서 지팡이를 모아라. 각 종족별로 지팡이 하나씩, 곧 각 종족마다 한 지도자에게서 하나씩, 지팡이가 열두 개이다. 너는 각자의 이름을 그 지팡이 위에 써라.
  3. 레위의 지팡이 위에는 아론의 이름을 써라. 각 종족별로 우두머리마다 지팡이가 하나씩 있어야 하기 때문이다.
  4. 너는 그것들을 회막 안, 내가 너희에게 나 자신을 알리는 곳인 그 증거궤 앞에 두어라.
  5. 내가 택하는 바로 그 한 사람의 지팡이에서는 움이 돋아날 것이다. 너희를 거역하여 불평하는 이스라엘 자손의 불만을 내가 없애고야 말겠다."
  1. So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron's staff was among them.
  2. Moses placed the staffs before the LORD in the Tent of the Testimony.
  3. The next day Moses entered the Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron's staff, which represented the house of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.
  4. Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the LORD's presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each man took his own staff.
  5. The LORD said to Moses, "Put back Aaron's staff in front of the Testimony, to be kept as a sign to the rebellious. This will put an end to their grumbling against me, so that they will not die."
  1. 모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 말하니, 각 지도자마다 지팡이 하나씩을 그에게 주었다. 각 종족마다 한 지도자에 지팡이가 하나씩이므로, 지팡이는 열두 개였다. 아론의 지팡이도 그 지팡이들 가운데에 있었다.
  2. 모세는 그 지팡이들을 증거의 장막 안, 주님 앞에 놓았다.
  3. 이튿날이 되어, 모세가 증거의 장막 안으로 들어갔다. 레위 집안 아론의 지팡이에는 움이 돋았을 뿐 아니라, 싹이 나고, 꽃이 피고, 감복숭아 열매까지 맺은 것이 아닌가!
  4. 모세는 모든 지팡이를, 주 앞에서 이스라엘 자손 모두에게로 가지고 나왔다. 그들은 그것들을 보았다. 저마다 자신의 지팡이를 집어들었다.
  5. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "아론의 지팡이는 증거궤 앞으로 도로 가져다 놓아, 반역하는 사람들에게 표적이 되도록 잘 간직하여라. 너는 다시는 그들이 나를 거역하여 원망하지 못하게 하여라. 그래야만 그들이 죽지 아니할 것이다."
  1. Moses did just as the LORD commanded him.
  2. The Israelites said to Moses, "We will die! We are lost, we are all lost!
  3. Anyone who even comes near the tabernacle of the LORD will die. Are we all going to die?"
  1. 모세는 주님께서 명하신 대로 하였다.
  2. 이스라엘 자손이 모세에게 다음과 같이 말하였다. "우리는 죽게 되었습니다. 망하게 되었습니다. 다 망하게 되었습니다.
  3. 가까이 가는 사람, 곧 주님의 성막에 가까이 가는 사람은 모두 죽을 터이니, 우리가 이렇게 망하는 것으로 끝장이 나야 합니까?"
