신명기 31:1-32:47

 임종이 가까웠음을 안 모세는 자신의 뒤를 이어 백성들을 가나안으로 인도할 지도자로서 여호수아를 세우고 그를 격려한 후, 모든 율법을 기록하여 제사장과 장로들에게 전수하고 그것을 힘써 지킬 것을 당부했다. 그리고 자기가 죽은 후에 이스라엘 백성들이 불신앙과 우상 숭배로 인해 재앙을 당할 것임을 예언하고 이에 대한 노래를 지어 백성들에게 가르쳤다.
  
  후계자 여호수아의 임명(31:1-31:30)    
 
  1. Then Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel:
  2. "I am now a hundred and twenty years old and I am no longer able to lead you. The LORD has said to me, 'You shall not cross the Jordan.'
  3. The LORD your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the LORD said.
  4. And the LORD will do to them what he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, whom he destroyed along with their land.
  5. The LORD will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you.
  1. 모세가 온 이스라엘 백성에게 계속하여 말하였다.
  2. 모세가 그들에게 말하였다. "이제 내 나이 백스무 살입니다. 이제 더 이상 당신들 앞에 서서 당신들을 지도할 수 없습니다. 주님께서는, 내가 요단 강을 건너는 것을 허락하지 않으셨습니다.
  3. 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들 앞에서 건너가셔서, 몸소 저 민족들을 당신들 앞에서 멸하시고, 당신들이 그 땅을 차지하게 하실 것입니다. 주님께서 말씀하신 대로, 여호수아가 지휘관이 되어 당신들 앞에서 건너갈 것입니다.

  1. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
  2. Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, "Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the LORD swore to their forefathers to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.
  3. The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
  4. So Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel.
  5. Then Moses commanded them: "At the end of every seven years, in the year for canceling debts, during the Feast of Tabernacles,
  1. 마음을 강하게 하고 용기를 내십시오. 그들 앞에서, 두려워하지도 말고 무서워하지도 마십시오. 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들과 함께 가시면서, 당신들을 떠나지도 않으시고 버리지도 않으실 것입니다."

  3. 주님께서 친히 그대 앞에서 가시며, 그대와 함께 계시며, 그대를 떠나지도 않으시고 버리지도 않으실 것이니, 두려워하지도 말고 겁내지도 마시오."
  4. 모세가 이 율법을 기록하여, 주님의 언약궤를 메는 레위 자손 제사장들과 이스라엘의 모든 장로에게 주었다.
  5. 모세가 그들에게 명령하였다. "일곱 해가 끝날 때마다, 곧 빚을 면제해 주는 해의 초막절에,
  1. when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this law before them in their hearing.
  2. Assemble the people--men, women and children, and the aliens living in your towns--so they can listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and follow carefully all the words of this law.
  3. Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess."
  4. The LORD said to Moses, "Now the day of your death is near. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the Tent of Meeting, where I will commission him." So Moses and Joshua came and presented themselves at the Tent of Meeting.
  5. Then the LORD appeared at the Tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the Tent.
  1. 온 이스라엘이 주 당신들의 하나님을 뵈려고 그분이 택하신 곳으로 나오면, 당신들은 이 율법을 온 이스라엘 백성 앞에서 읽어서, 그들의 귀에 들려주십시오.

  1. And the LORD said to Moses: "You are going to rest with your fathers, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.
  2. On that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and difficulties will come upon them, and on that day they will ask, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?'
  3. And I will certainly hide my face on that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.
  4. "Now write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them.
  5. When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their forefathers, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.
  1. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 네 조상과 함께 잠들 것이다. 그러나 이 백성은, 들어가서 살게 될 그 땅의 이방 신들과 더불어 음란한 짓을 할 것이다. 그들은 나를 버리고, 나와 세운 그 언약을 깨뜨릴 것이다.
  2. 그 날에 내가 그들에게 격렬하게 진노하여, 그들을 버리고 내 얼굴을 그들에게서 숨길 것이다. 그래서 그들은, 온갖 재앙과 고통이 덮치는 날, 이렇게 말할 것이다. '우리 하나님이 우리 가운데 계시지 않기 때문에 이런 재앙이 덮치고 있다' 하고 탄식할 것이다.
  3. 그들이 돌아서서 다른 신을 섬기는 온갖 악한 짓을 할 것이니, 그 날에 내가 틀림없이 내 얼굴을 그들에게서 숨기겠다.
  4. 이제 이 노래를 적어서, 이스라엘 백성에게 가르쳐 부르게 하여라. 이 노래가 이스라엘 자손에게 내가 무엇을 가르쳤는지를 증언할 것이다.

  1. And when many disasters and difficulties come upon them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath."
  2. So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.
  3. The LORD gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: "Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you."
  4. After Moses finished writing in a book the words of this law from beginning to end,
  5. he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD :
  1. 그리하여 그들이 온갖 재앙과 환난을 당하게 될 것이다. 그러나 사람들이 이 노래를 부르는 한, 이 노래가 그들을 일깨워 주는 증언이 될 것이다. 비록 내가 아직 약속한 땅으로 그들을 인도하기 전이지만, 지금 그들이 품고 있는 생각이 무엇인지를 나는 알고 있다."
  2. 그 날에 모세는 이 노래를 적어 이스라엘 백성에게 가르쳐 주었다.
  3. 주님께서 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 이스라엘 자손을 인도하여 내가 그들에게 약속한 땅으로 들어갈 것이니, 마음을 강하게 먹고 용기를 내어라. 내가 너와 함께 있겠다."
  4. 모세는 이 율법의 말씀을 다 책에 기록한 뒤에,
  5. 주의 언약궤를 메는 레위 사람들에게 말하였다.
  1. "Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God. There it will remain as a witness against you.
  2. For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the LORD while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die!
  3. Assemble before me all the elders of your tribes and all your officials, so that I can speak these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to testify against them.
  4. For I know that after my death you are sure to become utterly corrupt and to turn from the way I have commanded you. In days to come, disaster will fall upon you because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD and provoke him to anger by what your hands have made."
  5. And Moses recited the words of this song from beginning to end in the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel:
  1. "이 율법책을 가져다가 주 당신들의 하나님의 언약궤 옆에 두어서, 당신들에게 증거가 되게 하시오.
  2. 내가 당신들의 반항심과 센 고집을 알고 있소. 지금 내가 살아 있어서 당신들과 함께 있는데도 당신들이 주님을 거역하거늘, 내가 죽은 다음에야 오죽하겠소!
  3. 각 지파의 장로들과 관리들을 모두 내 앞에 불러모으시오. 내가 이 말씀을 그들의 귀에 들려주고, 하늘과 땅을 증인으로 세우겠소.
  4. 나는 압니다. 내가 죽은 뒤에 당신들은 스스로 부패하여, 내가 지시하는 길에서 벗어날 것이오. 당신들이 주님 앞에서 악한 일을 하고, 당신들이 손대는 온갖 일로 주님을 노엽게 하다가, 마침내 훗날에 당신들이 재앙을 받게 될 것이오."
  5. 모세가 이스라엘 총회에 모인 모든 사람에게, 이 노래를 끝까지 들려주었다.
 
  모세의 노래(32:1-32:47)    
 
  1. Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
  2. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
  3. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
  4. He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
  5. They have acted corruptly toward him; to their shame they are no longer his children, but a warped and crooked generation.
  1. 하늘아, 나의 말에 귀를 기울여라. 땅아, 나의 입에서 나오는 말을 들어라.
  2. 나의 교훈은 내리는 비요, 풀밭을 적시는 소나기다. 나의 말은 맺히는 이슬이요, 채소 위에 내리는 가랑비다.
  3. 내가 주님의 이름을 선포할 때에, 너희는 '우리의 하나님 위대하시다' 하고 응답하여라.
  4. 하나님은 반석, 하시는 일마다 완전하고, 그의 모든 길은 올곧다. 그는 거짓이 없고, 진실하신 하나님이시다. 의로우시고 곧기만 하시다.
  5. 그러나 너희가 하나님께 맞서 악한 짓을 하니, 수치스럽게도 너희는 이미 그의 자녀가 아니요, 비뚤어지고 뒤틀린 세대이다.
  1. Is this the way you repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?
  2. Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.
  3. When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel.
  4. For the LORD's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.
  5. In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
  1. 어리석은 백성아, 이 미련한 민족아, 너희는 어찌하여 주님께 이처럼 갚느냐? 그는 너희를 지으신 아버지가 아니시냐? 너희를 만드시고 일으키신 분이 아니시냐?
  2. 아득한 옛날을 회상하여 보아라. 조상 대대로 내려온 세대를 생각하여 보아라. 너희의 아버지에게 물어 보아라. 그가 일러줄 것이다. 어른들에게 물어 보아라. 그들이 너희에게 말해 줄 것이다.
  3. 가장 높으신 분께서 여러 나라에 땅을 나누어 주시고, 인류를 갈라놓으실 때에 이스라엘 자손의 수효대로 민족들의 경계를 갈라놓으셨다.
  4. 그러나 주님의 몫은 그의 백성이니, 야곱은 그가 차지하신 유산이다.
  5. 주님께서 광야에서 야곱을 찾으셨고, 짐승의 울음소리만 들려 오는 황야에서 그를 만나, 감싸 주고, 보호하고, 당신의 눈동자처럼 지켜 주셨다.
  1. like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.
  2. The LORD alone led him; no foreign god was with him.
  3. He made him ride on the heights of the land and fed him with the fruit of the fields. He nourished him with honey from the rock, and with oil from the flinty crag,
  4. with curds and milk from herd and flock and with fattened lambs and goats, with choice rams of Bashan and the finest kernels of wheat. You drank the foaming blood of the grape.
  5. Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food, he became heavy and sleek. He abandoned the God who made him and rejected the Rock his Savior.
  1. 마치 독수리가 그 보금자리를 뒤흔들고 새끼들 위에서 퍼덕이며, 날개를 펴서 새끼들을 받아 그 날개 위에 업어 나르듯이,
  2. 주님께서만 홀로 그 백성을 인도하셨다. 다른 신은 옆에 있지도 않았다.
  3. 주님께서 그 백성에게 고원지대를 차지하게 하시며, 밭에서 나온 열매를 먹게 하시며, 바위에서 흘러내리는 꿀을 먹게 하시며, 단단한 바위에서 흘러내리는 기름을 먹게 하셨다.
  4. 소젖과 양젖과 어린 양의 기름과, 바산의 숫양과 염소 고기와, 잘 익은 밀과 붉은 빛깔 포도주를 마시게 하셨다.
  5. 이스라엘은 부자가 되더니, 반역자가 되었다. 먹거리가 넉넉해지고, 실컷 먹고 나더니, 자기들을 지으신 하나님을 저버리고, 자기들의 반석이신 구원자를 업신여겼다.
  1. They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols.
  2. They sacrificed to demons, which are not God-- gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear.
  3. You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.
  4. The LORD saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters.
  5. "I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful.
  1. 그들은 이방 신을 섬겨서 주님께서 질투하시게 하였으며, 역겨운 짓을 하여 주님께서 진노하시게 하였다.
  2. 너희는 하나님도 아닌 신들에게 제사를 드렸다. 너희가 알지도 못하는 신들, 새롭게 나타난 새 신들, 너희 조상이 섬기지 않던 신들이다.
  3. 너희는 너희를 낳은 바위를 버리고, 너희를 낳은 하나님을 잊었다.
  4. 주님께서는 이것을 보시고 격분하셔서, 당신의 자녀들과 인연을 끊으시고서,
  5. 이렇게 말씀하신다. '그들에게 나의 얼굴을 숨기겠다. 그들이 마침내는 어떻게 되는지, 두고 보겠다. 그들은 타락한 세대, 진실이라고는 털끝만큼도 없는 자들이다.
  1. They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.
  2. For a fire has been kindled by my wrath, one that burns to the realm of death below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains.
  3. "I will heap calamities upon them and spend my arrows against them.
  4. I will send wasting famine against them, consuming pestilence and deadly plague; I will send against them the fangs of wild beasts, the venom of vipers that glide in the dust.
  5. In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. Young men and young women will perish, infants and gray-haired men.
  1. 우상을 섬겨서 나를 격분시켰고, 신이 아닌 것들을 신이라고 섬겨서 나의 질투에 불을 붙였다. 그러니 이제 나도, 내 백성이 아닌 딴 백성을 내 백성으로 삼아서, 그들의 질투심에 불을 붙이고, 어리석은 민족을 내 백성으로 만들어 그들을 격분시키겠다.
  2. 나의 분노에서 나오는 불꽃이 저 아래 스올까지 타들어 가며, 땅 위에 있는 모든 것들을 삼켜 버리고, 멧부리까지 살라 버릴 것이다.
  3. 내가 온갖 재앙을 그들에게 퍼붓고, 나의 화살을 모조리 그들에게 쏘겠다.
  4. 나는 그들을 굶겨서 죽이고, 불 같은 더위와 열병으로 죽이고, 짐승의 이빨에 찢겨서 먹히게 하고, 티끌 속을 기어 다니는 독사의 독을 그들에게 보내겠다.
  5. 바깥에서는 칼에 맞아 죽고, 방 안에서는 놀라서 죽으니, 총각과 처녀, 젖먹이와 노인, 모두가 다 같은 꼴을 당할 것이다.
  1. I said I would scatter them and blot out their memory from mankind,
  2. but I dreaded the taunt of the enemy, lest the adversary misunderstand and say, 'Our hand has triumphed; the LORD has not done all this.' "
  3. They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them.
  4. If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be!
  5. How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?
  1. 본래는 내가 나의 백성을 다 흩어 버려서 아무도 그들을 기억할 수 없게 하려고 하였으나,
  2. 그렇게까지는 하지 않았으니, 원수들이 자랑하는 것을 내가 차마 볼 수 없기 때문이다. 나 주가 내 백성을 징벌한 것인데도, 원수들은 마치 저희의 힘으로 내 백성을 패배시킨 것처럼 자랑할 터이니, 그 꼴이 보기가 싫어서 내가 내 백성을 전멸시키지는 않았다.'
  3. 이스라엘은 어리석은 백성, 깨닫지도 못하는 백성이다.
  4. 자기들이 왜 패배를 당하였는지를 깨달을 지혜라도 있었으면 좋으련만! 그들의 종말이 어떻게 될지, 깨닫기만이라도 했으면 좋으련만!
  5. 주님께서 자기의 백성을 포기하지 않으셨다면, 그들의 반석께서 당신의 백성을 원수에게 팔아 넘기지 않으셨다면, 어떻게 원수 한 사람이 이스라엘 사람 천 명을 물리치고, 둘이서 만 명을 도망치게 할 수 있었겠는가?
  1. For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.
  2. Their vine comes from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are filled with poison, and their clusters with bitterness.
  3. Their wine is the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras.
  4. "Have I not kept this in reserve and sealed it in my vaults?
  5. It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them."
  1. 우리의 원수까지도 자기들의 반석이 우리의 반석보다 약함을 안다.
  2. 그들의 포도는 소돔의 포도나무에서 온 것이며, 고모라의 밭에서 온 것이다. 그들의 포도에는 독이 있어서, 송이마다 쓰디쓰다.
  3. 그들의 포도주는 뱀의 독으로 담근 독한 술이요, 독사의 독이 그득한 술이다.
  4. '이 독한 포도주는 내가 쓸 데가 있어서 숨겨 놓았던 것, 나중에 쓰려고 곳간에 보관하여 둔 것이다.
  5. 원수 갚는 것은 내가 하는 일이니, 내가 갚는다. 원수들이 넘어질 때가 곧 온다. 재난의 날이 가깝고, 멸망의 때가 그들에게 곧 덮친다.'
  1. The LORD will judge his people and have compassion on his servants when he sees their strength is gone and no one is left, slave or free.
  2. He will say: "Now where are their gods, the rock they took refuge in,
  3. the gods who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up to help you! Let them give you shelter!
  4. "See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.
  5. I lift my hand to heaven and declare: As surely as I live forever,
  1. 그들이 기진맥진 하고, 갇힌 사람도 놓인 사람도 하나도 남지 않았을 때에, 주님께서는 당신의 백성을 심판하시고, 당신의 종들을 불쌍히 여기실 것이다.
  2. 그 때에 주 하나님이 말씀하신다. '그들의 신들이 어디에 있느냐? 그들이 피난처로 삼던 그 반석은 어디에 있느냐?
  3. 그들이 제물로 바친 그 기름을 먹고, 부어 바친 포도주를 받아 마시던 그 신들이 어디에 있느냐? 그들이 일어나 너희를 돕게 하고, 그들이 너희의 피난처가 되게 하여라.
  4. 그러나 이제는 알아라. 나, 오직 나만이 하나님이다. 나 밖에는 다른 신이 없다. 나는 죽게도 하고 살게도 한다. 나는 상하게도 하고 낫게도 한다. 아무도 내가 하는 일을 막지 못한다.
  5. 내가 하늘로 손을 들고, 내가 나의 영원한 삶을 두고 맹세한다.
  1. when I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand grasps it in judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries and repay those who hate me.
  2. I will make my arrows drunk with blood, while my sword devours flesh: the blood of the slain and the captives, the heads of the enemy leaders."
  3. Rejoice, O nations, with his people, , for he will avenge the blood of his servants; he will take vengeance on his enemies and make atonement for his land and people.
  4. Moses came with Joshua son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people.
  5. When Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel,
  1. 나는 나의 칼을 날카롭게 갈아서, 내 손으로 재판을 주관하며, 내 원수들에게 보복할 것이다. 나를 미워하는 자들에게 보응하겠다.
  2. 피살자와 포로들의 피, 적장의 머리에서 나온 피, 내 화살이 이 피를 취하도록 마시고, 내 칼이 그 고기를 실컷 먹을 것이다.'
  3. 모든 나라들아, 주님의 백성과 함께 즐거워하여라. 주님께서 그 종들의 피를 흘린 자에게 원수를 갚으시고 당신의 대적들에게 복수하신다. 당신의 땅과 백성이 지은 죄를 속하여 주신다.

  2. 율법은 단지 빈 말이 아니라, 바로 당신들의 생명입니다. 이 말씀을 순종하십시오. 그래야만 당신들이 요단 강을 건너가 차지하는 땅에서 오래오래 살 것입니다."
