- They behaved like men wielding axes to cut through a thicket of trees.

- 하나님, 어찌하여 우리를 이렇게 오랫동안 버리십니까? 어찌하여 주님의 목장에 있는 양 떼에게서 진노를 거두지 않으십니까?
- 먼 옛날, 주님께서 친히 값주고 사신 주님의 백성을 기억해 주십시오. 주님께서 친히 속량하셔서 주님의 것으로 삼으신 이 지파를 기억해 주십시오. 주님께서 거처로 삼으신 시온 산을 기억해 주십시오.
- 원수들이 주님의 성소를 이렇게 훼손하였으니, 영원히 페허가 된 이곳으로 주님의 발걸음을 옮겨놓아 주십시오.
- 주님의 대적들이 주님의 집회 장소 한가운데로 들어와서 승전가를 부르며, 승리의 표로 깃대를 세웠습니다.
- 그들은 나무를 도끼로 마구 찍어 내는 밀림의 벌목꾼과 같았습니다.

- We are given no miraculous signs; no prophets are left, and none of us knows how long this will be.
- How long will the enemy mock you, O God? Will the foe revile your name forever?

- 그들은 도끼와 쇠망치로 성소의 모든 장식품들을 찍어서, 산산조각을 내었습니다.
- 주님의 성소에 불을 질러 땅에 뒤엎고, 주님의 이름을 모시는 곳을 더럽혔습니다.
- 그들은 "씨도 남기지 말고 전부 없애 버리자" 하고 마음 먹고, 이 땅에 있는, 하나님을 만나 뵙는 장소를 모두 불살라 버렸습니다.
- 우리에게는 어떤 징표도 더 이상 보이지 않고, 예언자도 더 이상 없으므로, 우리 가운데서 아무도 이 일이 얼마나 오래 갈지를 아는 사람이 없습니다.
- 하나님, 우리를 모욕하는 저 대적자를 언제까지 그대로 두시렵니까? 주님의 이름을 모독하는 저 원수를 언제까지 그대로 두시렵니까?
