사무엘하 20:1-21:22

 다윗의 환궁 문제를 둘러싼 유다와 이스라엘간의 분쟁으로 세바의 반란이 일어났고, 이를 이용해 요압은 자신의 정적인 아마사를 살해하였다. 사울의 기브온 양민 학살 사건에 대한 심판으로 3년 간 기근이 있자, 다윗은 기브온 사람들의 원한을 갚아 속죄하도록 하였다. 블레셋과의 전쟁에서 다윗의 용사들은 승리를 거두었다.
  
  세바의 반란(20:1-20:26)    
 
  1. Now a troublemaker named Sheba son of Bicri, a Benjamite, happened to be there. He sounded the trumpet and shouted, "We have no share in David, no part in Jesse's son! Every man to his tent, O Israel!"
  2. So all the men of Israel deserted David to follow Sheba son of Bicri. But the men of Judah stayed by their king all the way from the Jordan to Jerusalem.
  3. When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to take care of the palace and put them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but did not lie with them. They were kept in confinement till the day of their death, living as widows.
  4. Then the king said to Amasa, "Summon the men of Judah to come to me within three days, and be here yourself."
  5. But when Amasa went to summon Judah, he took longer than the time the king had set for him.

  3. 다윗은 예루살렘의 왕궁으로 돌아온 뒤에, 예전에 왕궁을 지키라고 남겨 둔 후궁 열 명을 붙잡아서, 방에 가두고, 감시병을 두었다. 왕이 그들에게 먹을 것만 주고, 더 이상 그들과 잠자리를 함께 하지 않았으므로, 그들은 죽을 때까지 갇혀서, 생과부로 지냈다.
  4. 왕이 아마사에게 명령하였다. "장군은 유다 사람을 사흘 안에 모아 나에게 데려 오고, 그대도 함께 오시오."
  5. 아마사가 유다 사람을 모으러 갔으나, 왕이 그에게 정하여 준 기간을 넘겼다.
  1. David said to Abishai, "Now Sheba son of Bicri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your master's men and pursue him, or he will find fortified cities and escape from us."
  2. So Joab's men and the Kerethites and Pelethites and all the mighty warriors went out under the command of Abishai. They marched out from Jerusalem to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.
  3. While they were at the great rock in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was wearing his military tunic, and strapped over it at his waist was a belt with a dagger in its sheath. As he stepped forward, it dropped out of its sheath.
  4. Joab said to Amasa, "How are you, my brother?" Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
  5. Amasa was not on his guard against the dagger in Joab's hand, and Joab plunged it into his belly, and his intestines spilled out on the ground. Without being stabbed again, Amasa died. Then Joab and his brother Abishai pursued Sheba son of Bicri.

  2. 그래서 요압의 부하들과 그렛 사람과 블렛 사람과 모든 용사가, 비그리의 아들 세바를 뒤쫓아 가려고, 아비새를 따라 예루살렘 밖으로 나갔다.
  3. 그들이 기브온의 큰 바위 곁에 이르렀을 때에, 아마사가 그들의 앞으로 다가왔다. 요압은 군복을 입고, 허리에 띠를 띠고 있었는데, 거기에는 칼집이 달려 있고, 그 칼집에는 칼이 들어 있었다. 요압이 나아갈 때에, 칼이 빠져 나와 있었다.
  4. 요압은 아마사에게 "형님, 평안하시오?" 하고 말하면서, 오른손으로 아마사의 턱수염을 붙잡고 입을 맞추었다.
  5. 요압이 다른 손으로 칼을 빼어 잡았는데, 아마사는 그것을 눈치채지 못하였다. 요압이 그 칼로 아마사의 배를 찔러서, 그의 창자가 땅바닥에 쏟아지게 하니, 다시 찌를 필요도 없이 아마사가 죽었다. 그런 다음에 요압은 자기 동생 아비새와 함께 비그리의 아들 세바를 뒤쫓아 갔다.
  1. One of Joab's men stood beside Amasa and said, "Whoever favors Joab, and whoever is for David, let him follow Joab!"
  2. Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the road, and the man saw that all the troops came to a halt there. When he realized that everyone who came up to Amasa stopped, he dragged him from the road into a field and threw a garment over him.
  3. After Amasa had been removed from the road, all the men went on with Joab to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.
  4. Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel Beth Maacah and through the entire region of the Berites, who gathered together and followed him.
  5. All the troops with Joab came and besieged Sheba in Abel Beth Maacah. They built a siege ramp up to the city, and it stood against the outer fortifications. While they were battering the wall to bring it down,
  1. 그 때에 요압의 부하 한 사람이 아마사의 주검 곁에 서서 외쳤다. "요압을 지지하는 사람과 다윗 쪽에 선 사람은 요압 장군을 따르시오."
  2. 그러나 아마사가 큰 길의 한가운데서 피투성이가 되어 있었으므로, 지나가는 모든 군인이 멈추어 서는 것을, 요압의 부하가 보고, 아마사를 큰 길에서 들판으로 치워 놓았다. 그런데도 그의 곁으로 지나가는 군인마다 멈추어 서는 것을 보고, 요압의 부하가 아마사의 주검을 옷으로 덮어 놓았다.
  3. 그가 큰 길에서 아마사를 치우자, 군인들이 모두 요압을 따라서, 비그리의 아들 세바를 뒤쫓아 갔다.
  4. 세바가 모든 이스라엘 지파 가운데로 두루 다니다가, 아벨 지역과 벳마아가 지역과 베림의 온 지역까지 이르렀다. 그 곳 사람들이 모두 모여서, 그의 뒤를 따랐다.
  5. 요압을 따르는 군인들은 그 곳에 이르러서, 벳마아가의 아벨을 포위하고, 세바를 치기 시작하였다. 그들이 성읍을 보면서 둔덕을 쌓으니, 이 둔덕이 바깥 성벽의 높이만큼 솟아올랐다. 요압을 따르는 모든 군인이 성벽을 무너뜨리려고 부수기 시작하니,
  1. a wise woman called from the city, "Listen! Listen! Tell Joab to come here so I can speak to him."
  2. He went toward her, and she asked, "Are you Joab?" "I am," he answered. She said, "Listen to what your servant has to say." "I'm listening," he said.
  3. She continued, "Long ago they used to say, 'Get your answer at Abel,' and that settled it.
  4. We are the peaceful and faithful in Israel. You are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the LORD's inheritance?"
  5. "Far be it from me!" Joab replied, "Far be it from me to swallow up or destroy!
  1. 그 성읍에서 슬기로운 여인 하나가 이렇게 외쳤다. "제 말을 들어 보십시오. 좀 들어 보시기 바랍니다. 제가 장군께 드릴 말씀이 있으니, 요압 장군께, 이리로 가까이 오시라고, 말씀을 좀 전하여 주십시오!"
  2. 요압이 그 여인에게 가까이 가니, 그 여인이 "요압 장군이십니까?" 하고 물었다. 요압이 "그렇소" 하고 대답하니, 그 여인이 요압에게 "이 여종의 말을 좀 들어 보시기 바랍니다" 하였다. 요압이 말하였다. "어서 말하여 보시오."
  3. 그 여인이 말하였다. "옛날 속담에도 '물어 볼 것이 있으면, 아벨 지역에 가서 물어 보아라' 하였고, 또 그렇게 해서 무슨 일이든지 해결하였습니다.
  4. 저는 이스라엘에서 평화롭고 충실하게 사는 사람들 가운데 하나입니다. 그런데 장군께서는 지금 이스라엘에서 어머니와 같은 성읍을 하나 멸망시키려고 애쓰십니다. 왜 주님께서 주신 유산을 삼키려고 하십니까?"
  5. 요압이 대답하였다. "나는 절대로 그러는 것이 아니오. 정말로 그렇지가 않소. 나는 삼키거나 멸망시키려는 것이 아니오.
  1. That is not the case. A man named Sheba son of Bicri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Hand over this one man, and I'll withdraw from the city." The woman said to Joab, "His head will be thrown to you from the wall."
  2. Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bicri and threw it to Joab. So he sounded the trumpet, and his men dispersed from the city, each returning to his home. And Joab went back to the king in Jerusalem.
  3. Joab was over Israel's entire army; Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites;
  4. Adoniram was in charge of forced labor; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;
  5. Sheva was secretary; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
  1. 그 일이 그런 것이 아니오. 사실은 에브라임 산간지방 출신인 비그리의 아들 세바라는 사람이, 다윗 왕에게 반기를 들어서 반란을 일으켰소. 여러분이 그 사람만 내주면, 내가 이 성읍에서 물러가겠소." 그 여인이 요압에게 말하였다. "그렇다면, 그의 머리를 곧 성벽 너머로 장군께 던져 드리겠소."
  2. 그런 다음에, 그 여인이 온 주민에게 돌아가서 슬기로운 말로 설득시키니, 그들이 비그리의 아들 세바의 머리를 잘라서, 요압에게 던져 주었다. 요압이 나팔을 부니, 모든 군인이 그 성읍에서 떠나, 저마다 자기 집으로 흩어져서 돌아갔다. 요압은 왕이 있는 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.

  5. 스와는 서기관이 되고, 사독과 아비아달은 제사장이 되고,
  1. and Ira the Jairite was David's priest.
  1. 야일 사람 이라는 다윗의 제사장이 되었다.
 
  기브온 사람들의 원한(21:1-21:22)    
 
  1. During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, "It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death."
  2. The king summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not a part of Israel but were survivors of the Amorites; the Israelites had sworn to spare them, but Saul in his zeal for Israel and Judah had tried to annihilate them.)
  3. David asked the Gibeonites, "What shall I do for you? How shall I make amends so that you will bless the LORD's inheritance?"
  4. The Gibeonites answered him, "We have no right to demand silver or gold from Saul or his family, nor do we have the right to put anyone in Israel to death." "What do you want me to do for you?" David asked.
  5. They answered the king, "As for the man who destroyed us and plotted against us so that we have been decimated and have no place anywhere in Israel,
  1. 다윗 시대에 세 해 동안이나 흉년이 들었다. 다윗이 주님 앞에 나아가서 그 곡절을 물으니, 주님께서 대답하셨다. "사울과 그의 집안이 기브온 사람을 죽여 살인죄를 지은 탓이다."

  3. 다윗이 기브온 사람에게 물었다. "내가 당신들에게 어떻게 하면 좋겠소? 내가 무엇으로 보상을 하여야, 주님의 소유인 이 백성에게 복을 빌어 주시겠소?"
  4. 기브온 사람들이 그에게 말하였다. "사울이나 그의 집안과 우리 사이의 갈등은 은이나 금으로 해결할 문제가 아닙니다. 우리는 이스라엘 사람을 죽일 생각은 없습니다." 다윗이 그들에게 물었다. "그러면 당신들의 요구가 무엇이오? 내가 들어 주겠소."
  5. 그들이 왕에게 말하였다. "사울은 우리를 학살한 사람입니다. 그는, 이스라엘의 영토 안에서는, 우리가 어느 곳에서도 살아 남지 못하도록, 우리를 몰살시키려고 계획한 사람입니다.
  1. let seven of his male descendants be given to us to be killed and exposed before the LORD at Gibeah of Saul--the Lord 's chosen one." So the king said, "I will give them to you."
  2. The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the LORD between David and Jonathan son of Saul.
  3. But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Aiah's daughter Rizpah, whom she had borne to Saul, together with the five sons of Saul's daughter Merab, whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
  4. He handed them over to the Gibeonites, who killed and exposed them on a hill before the LORD. All seven of them fell together; they were put to death during the first days of the harvest, just as the barley harvest was beginning.
  5. Rizpah daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest till the rain poured down from the heavens on the bodies, she did not let the birds of the air touch them by day or the wild animals by night.
  1. 그의 자손 가운데서 남자 일곱 명을 우리에게 넘겨 주시기를 바랍니다. 그러면 주님께서 택하신 왕 사울이 살던 기브아에서, 우리가 주님 앞에서 그들을 나무에 매달겠습니다." 왕이 약속하였다. "내가 그들을 넘겨 주겠소."

  4. 기브온 사람의 손에 넘겨 주었다. 기브온 사람이 주님 앞에서 그들을 산에 있는 나무에 매달아 놓으니, 그 일곱이 다 함께 죽었다. 그들이 처형을 받은 것은 곡식을 거두기 시작할 무렵, 곧 보리를 거두기 시작할 때였다.
  5. 그 때에 아야의 딸 리스바가 굵은 베로 만든 천을 가져다가 바윗돌 위에 쳐 놓고, 그 밑에 앉아서, 보리를 거두기 시작할 때로부터 하늘에서 그 주검 위로 가을 비가 쏟아질 때까지, 낮에는 공중의 새가 그 주검 위에 내려 앉지 못하게 하고, 밤에는 들짐승들이 얼씬도 하지 못하게 하였다.
  1. When David was told what Aiah's daughter Rizpah, Saul's concubine, had done,
  2. he went and took the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead. (They had taken them secretly from the public square at Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them after they struck Saul down on Gilboa.)
  3. David brought the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from there, and the bones of those who had been killed and exposed were gathered up.
  4. They buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the tomb of Saul's father Kish, at Zela in Benjamin, and did everything the king commanded. After that, God answered prayer in behalf of the land.
  5. Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.
  1. 아야의 딸이며 사울의 첩인 리스바가 이렇게 하였다는 소문이 다윗에게 전해지니,
  2. 다윗이 길르앗의 야베스로 가서, 사울의 뼈와 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈를 그 주민에게서 찾아왔다. （블레셋 사람이 길보아 산에서 사울을 죽일 때에, 블레셋 사람이 사울과 요나단의 시신을 벳산의 광장에 매달아 두었는데, 거기에서 그 시신을 몰래 거두어 간 이들이 바로 길르앗의 야베스 주민이다.）

  4. 사울의 뼈와 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈와 함께, 베냐민 지파의 땅인 셀라에 있는 사울의 아버지 기스의 무덤에 합장하였다. 사람들이, 다윗이 지시한 모든 명령을 따라서 그대로 한 뒤에야, 하나님이, 그 땅을 돌보아 주시기를 비는 그들의 기도를 들어주셨다.
  5. 블레셋과 이스라엘 사이에 다시 전쟁이 일어나서, 다윗이 군대를 거느리고 내려가서, 블레셋 사람과 싸웠다. 블레셋 사람과 싸우는 전투에서 다윗이 몹시 지쳐 있을 때에,
  1. And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels and who was armed with a new sword , said he would kill David.
  2. But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David's rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David's men swore to him, saying, "Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished."
  3. In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.
  4. In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.
  5. In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot--twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
  1. 거인족의 자손인 이스비브놉이라는 사람이 삼백 세겔이나 되는 청동 창을 들고, 허리에는 새 칼을 차고, 다윗을 죽이려고 덤벼들었다.
  2. 그러자 스루야의 아들 아비새가 그 블레셋 사람을 쳐죽이고, 다윗을 보호하였다. 그런 다음에는, 다윗의 부하들이 다윗에게, 다시는 자기들과 함께 싸움터에 나가지 않겠다고 약속을 받고서 그에게 말하였다. "임금님은 이스라엘의 등불이십니다. 우리는 우리의 등불이 꺼지지 않도록 지키고자 합니다."
  3. 그 뒤에 다시 곱에서 블레셋 사람과 전쟁이 일어났다. 그 때에 후사 사람 십브개가 거인족의 자손인 삽을 쳐죽였다.
  4. 또 곱에서 블레셋 사람과 전쟁이 일어났다. 그 때에는 베들레헴 사람인 야레오르김의 아들 엘하난이 가드 사람 골리앗을 죽였는데, 골리앗의 창자루는 베틀 앞다리같이 굵었다.
  5. 또 가드에서 전쟁이 벌어졌을 때에 거인이 하나 나타났는데, 그는 손가락과 발가락이 여섯 개씩 모두 스물넷이었다. 이 사람도 거인족의 자손 가운데 하나였다.
  1. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him.
  2. These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.
  1. 그가 이스라엘을 조롱하므로, 다윗의 형 삼마의 아들 요나단이 그를 쳐죽였다.
  2. 이 네 사람은 모두 가드에서 태어난 거인족의 자손인데, 다윗과 그 부하들에게 모두 죽었다.
