역대하 24:1-25:28

 요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 살아 있을 동안에는 선정을 베풀었으나, 그가 죽자 우상 숭배에 빠져 선지자 스가랴를 살해하는 등의 범죄를 자행하였다. 그리하여 아람 왕 하사엘의 침입을 받고, 결국 신하들의 모반으로 살해당하였다. 그의 뒤를 이은 아마샤는 초기에는 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 전승의 영광을 얻었으나, 교만해져서 하나님을 버린 후에는 타락의 일로를 걷다가 결국 반역의 희생물이 되고 말았다.
  
  요아스의 유다 통치(24:1-24:27)    
 
  1. Joash was seven years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem forty years. His mother's name was Zibiah; she was from Beersheba.
  2. Joash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all the years of Jehoiada the priest.
  3. Jehoiada chose two wives for him, and he had sons and daughters.
  4. Some time later Joash decided to restore the temple of the LORD.
  5. He called together the priests and Levites and said to them, "Go to the towns of Judah and collect the money due annually from all Israel, to repair the temple of your God. Do it now." But the Levites did not act at once.
  1. 요아스가 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는 일곱 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 마흔 해 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 시비아는 브엘세바 사람이다.

  1. Therefore the king summoned Jehoiada the chief priest and said to him, "Why haven't you required the Levites to bring in from Judah and Jerusalem the tax imposed by Moses the servant of the LORD and by the assembly of Israel for the Tent of the Testimony?"
  2. Now the sons of that wicked woman Athaliah had broken into the temple of God and had used even its sacred objects for the Baals.
  3. At the king's command, a chest was made and placed outside, at the gate of the temple of the LORD.
  4. A proclamation was then issued in Judah and Jerusalem that they should bring to the LORD the tax that Moses the servant of God had required of Israel in the desert.
  5. All the officials and all the people brought their contributions gladly, dropping them into the chest until it was full.
  1. 왕이 여호야다 대제사장을 불러 추궁하였다. "대제사장은 왜 레위 사람들에게 유다와 예루살렘에서 세금을 거두어들이라고 요구하지 않았소? 그 세금은 주님의 종 모세와 이스라엘 회중이 증거의 장막을 위하여 백성에게 부과한 것이 아니오?"
  2. 그 사악한 여인 아달랴가 자기 아들들을 시켜서, 하나님의 성전을 부수고 들어가게 하였고, 또 그 안에 있던 성물들까지 꺼내다가 바알에게 바치게 하였기 때문에, 성전 보수를 서둘러야만 하였다.
  3. 왕은 명령을 내려서, 궤 하나를 만들어 주님의 성전 문 밖에 놓게 하고,
  4. 유다와 예루살렘에 선포하여, 하나님의 종 모세가 광야에서 이스라엘이 바치도록 정한 세금을 주님께 드리도록 하였다.
  5. 지도자들과 백성이 모두 기꺼이 돈을 가지고 와서, 궤가 가득 찰 때까지 거기에 돈을 던져 넣었다.
  1. Whenever the chest was brought in by the Levites to the king's officials and they saw that there was a large amount of money, the royal secretary and the officer of the chief priest would come and empty the chest and carry it back to its place. They did this regularly and collected a great amount of money.
  2. The king and Jehoiada gave it to the men who carried out the work required for the temple of the LORD. They hired masons and carpenters to restore the LORD's temple, and also workers in iron and bronze to repair the temple.
  3. The men in charge of the work were diligent, and the repairs progressed under them. They rebuilt the temple of God according to its original design and reinforced it.
  4. When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada, and with it were made articles for the LORD's temple: articles for the service and for the burnt offerings, and also dishes and other objects of gold and silver. As long as Jehoiada lived, burnt offerings were presented continually in the temple of the LORD.
  5. Now Jehoiada was old and full of years, and he died at the age of a hundred and thirty.
  1. 궤가 차면, 레위 사람들이 그 궤를 왕궁 관리들에게로 가지고 갔는데, 거기에 많은 액수의 돈이 찬 것을 그들에게 보여 주면, 왕실 서기관과 대제사장의 관리가 와서, 그 궤의 돈을 계산하였다. 그리고 나면, 레위 사람들은 다시 그 궤를 성전 밖 제자리에 가져다 놓곤 하였다.

  4. 공사를 맡은 사람들이 공사를 마친 뒤에, 남은 돈을 왕과 여호야다에게 가져 오니, 왕이 그것으로 주님의 성전에서 쓸 기구, 곧 예배 때에 쓸 기구와, 번제를 드릴 때에 쓸 기구와, 숟가락과 금그릇이나 은그릇을 마련하게 하였다. 여호야다가 살아 있는 동안에는 주님의 성전에서 번제를 드리는 일이 끊이지 않았다.
  5. 여호야다가 늙어 나이가 차서 죽으니, 그가 세상에서 누린 햇수는 백삼십 년이었다.
  1. He was buried with the kings in the City of David, because of the good he had done in Israel for God and his temple.
  2. After the death of Jehoiada, the officials of Judah came and paid homage to the king, and he listened to them.
  3. They abandoned the temple of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols. Because of their guilt, God's anger came upon Judah and Jerusalem.
  4. Although the LORD sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.
  5. Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, "This is what God says: 'Why do you disobey the LORD's commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has forsaken you.' "
  1. 그가 평생 이스라엘 백성과 하나님과 성전을 위하여 좋은 일을 하였다고 해서, 사람들은 그를 '다윗 성' 왕실 묘지에 안장하였다.

  5. 여호야다 제사장의 아들 스가랴가 하나님의 영에 감동이 되어, 백성 앞에 나서서 말하였다. "나 하나님이 말한다. 어찌하여 너희가 주님의 명을 거역하느냐? 너희가 형통하지 못할 것이다. 너희가 주님을 버렸으니, 주님께서도 너희를 버리셨다."
  1. But they plotted against him, and by order of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD's temple.
  2. King Joash did not remember the kindness Zechariah's father Jehoiada had shown him but killed his son, who said as he lay dying, "May the LORD see this and call you to account."
  3. At the turn of the year, the army of Aram marched against Joash; it invaded Judah and Jerusalem and killed all the leaders of the people. They sent all the plunder to their king in Damascus.
  4. Although the Aramean army had come with only a few men, the LORD delivered into their hands a much larger army. Because Judah had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers, judgment was executed on Joash.
  5. When the Arameans withdrew, they left Joash severely wounded. His officials conspired against him for murdering the son of Jehoiada the priest, and they killed him in his bed. So he died and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
  1. 그러나 사람들은 그를 없앨 음모를 꾸몄고, 드디어 왕의 명령에 따라, 주님의 성전 뜰에서 그를 돌로 쳐죽였다.
  2. 이렇듯 요아스 왕은, 스가랴의 아버지 여호야다가 자기에게 보인 그 충성을 생각하지 않고, 그의 아들을 죽였다. 스가랴는 죽으면서 "주님께서 이 일을 굽어 보시고, 갚아 주십시오" 하고 외쳤다.
  3. 해가 바뀔 무렵에, 시리아 군대가 요아스를 치러 진군하였다. 그들은 유다와 예루살렘을 점령하고, 백성의 지도자들을 죽이고, 노략한 물건은 다마스쿠스에 있는 자기들의 왕에게로 보냈다.
  4. 시리아 군대는 수가 얼마 되지 않았다. 그러나 주님께서는 유다 백성이 주 조상의 하나님을 버린 것을 못마땅하게 여기셔서, 그 적은 수의 시리아 군대가 유다의 대군과 싸워 이기게 하셨다. 이렇게 요아스에게 심판이 내렸던 것이다.

  1. Those who conspired against him were Zabad, son of Shimeath an Ammonite woman, and Jehozabad, son of Shimrith a Moabite woman.
  2. The account of his sons, the many prophecies about him, and the record of the restoration of the temple of God are written in the annotations on the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son succeeded him as king.
  1. 요아스에게 반란을 일으킨 사람은, 암몬 여인 시므앗의 아들 사밧과 모압 여인 시므릿의 아들 여호사밧이다.
  2. 요아스의 아들들의 이야기와, 요아스가 중대한 경책을 받은 것과, 하나님의 성전을 보수한 사적은, 모두 '열왕기 주석'에 기록되어 있다. 그의 아들 아마샤가 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.
 
  아마샤의 유다 통치(25:1-25:28)    
 
  1. Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Jehoaddin ; she was from Jerusalem.
  2. He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not wholeheartedly.
  3. After the kingdom was firmly in his control, he executed the officials who had murdered his father the king.
  4. Yet he did not put their sons to death, but acted in accordance with what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sins."
  5. Amaziah called the people of Judah together and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds for all Judah and Benjamin. He then mustered those twenty years old or more and found that there were three hundred thousand men ready for military service, able to handle the spear and shield.
  1. 아마샤가 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는 스물다섯 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 스물아홉 해 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 여호앗단은 예루살렘 사람이다.
  2. 그는 주님께서 보시기에 올바른 일을 하였으나, 마음을 다하여 하지는 않았다.

  5. 아마샤는 유다 지파와 베냐민 지파 사람들을 그들이 소속된 가문별로 군대 단위로 조직하고, 그들 위에 군대 지휘관인 천부장과 백부장을 임명하여 세웠다. 이 군대 조직에 편성된 사람들은 스무 살 이상 된 남자들로서, 모두 삼십만 명이나 되었다. 이 사람들은 창과 방패로 무장하고, 전쟁터에 나갈 수 있는 장정들이었다.
  1. He also hired a hundred thousand fighting men from Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
  2. But a man of God came to him and said, "O king, these troops from Israel must not march with you, for the LORD is not with Israel--not with any of the people of Ephraim.
  3. Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow."
  4. Amaziah asked the man of God, "But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?" The man of God replied, "The LORD can give you much more than that."
  5. So Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. They were furious with Judah and left for home in a great rage.
  1. 이 밖에도 그는 은 백 달란트를 주고, 북왕국 이스라엘에서 용감한 군인 십만 명을 고용하였다.
  2. 그러나 어떤 하나님의 사람이 아마샤에게 가서 말하였다. "임금님, 임금님께서는 이스라엘 군대를 데리고 가지 마십시오. 주님께서는 북왕국 이스라엘, 곧 에브라임 자손과 함께 계시지 않으십니다.
  3. 그런데도 임금님께서 북 이스라엘 군대를 데리고 출동하시거든, 힘써 싸워 보십시오. 하나님께서는 임금님이 대적들 앞에서 엎어지게 하실 것입니다. 하나님께서는 임금님을, 이기게도 하실 수 있고, 지게도 하실 수 있습니다."
  4. 아마샤가 하나님의 사람에게 물었다. "북 이스라엘 군인을 고용하느라고 지불한 은 백 달란트는 어떻게 하면 좋겠습니까?" 하나님의 사람이 대답하였다. "주님께서는 그것보다 더 많은 것을 임금님께 주실 수 있습니다."
  5. 그래서 아마샤는 에브라임에서 온 군인들을 그들의 고향으로 돌려보냈다. 그들은 유다 사람에 대하여 몹시 불쾌하게 생각하면서, 고향으로 돌아갔다.
  1. Amaziah then marshaled his strength and led his army to the Valley of Salt, where he killed ten thousand men of Seir.
  2. The army of Judah also captured ten thousand men alive, took them to the top of a cliff and threw them down so that all were dashed to pieces.
  3. Meanwhile the troops that Amaziah had sent back and had not allowed to take part in the war raided Judean towns from Samaria to Beth Horon. They killed three thousand people and carried off great quantities of plunder.
  4. When Amaziah returned from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people of Seir. He set them up as his own gods, bowed down to them and burned sacrifices to them.
  5. The anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said, "Why do you consult this people's gods, which could not save their own people from your hand?"
  1. 아마샤는 용기를 내어 출병하였다. '소금 계곡'에 이르러서, 세일 자손 만 명을 죽였다.
  2. 유다 군대가 또 별도로 만 명을 산 채로 붙잡아서, 절벽 위로 끌고 올라가, 그 밑으로 떨어뜨리자, 그들의 몸이 으스러졌다.

  1. While he was still speaking, the king said to him, "Have we appointed you an adviser to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?" So the prophet stopped but said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel."
  2. After Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, he sent this challenge to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel: "Come, meet me face to face."
  3. But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: "A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle underfoot.
  4. You say to yourself that you have defeated Edom, and now you are arrogant and proud. But stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?"
  5. Amaziah, however, would not listen, for God so worked that he might hand them over to Jehoash , because they sought the gods of Edom.
  1. 예언자가 이렇게 말머리를 꺼내는데, 왕이 그의 말을 가로막으면서, "우리가 언제 너를 왕의 고문으로 추대하였느냐? 맞아 죽지 않으려거든 그쳐라!" 하고 호통을 쳤다. 그러자 예언자는 이렇게 말하고 그쳤다. "임금님께서 나의 충고를 받지 않고 이렇게 하시는 것을 보니, 하나님께서 임금님을 망하게 하시기로 결심하셨다는 것을 이제 알 것 같습니다."
  2. 유다 왕 아마샤가 참모들과 함께 이스라엘에 대항할 모의를 하고, 예후의 손자요 여호아하스의 아들인 이스라엘의 여호아스 왕에게 전령을 보내어서, 서로 직접 만나 힘을 겨루어 보자고 제안하였다.
  3. 이스라엘의 여호아스 왕은 유다의 아마샤 왕에게 사람을 보내어서 회답하였다. "레바논의 가시나무가 레바논의 백향목에게 전갈을 보내어서 백향목의 딸을 며느리로 달라고 청혼하는 것을 보고, 레바논의 들짐승이 지나가다가 그 가시나무를 짓밟은 일이 있습니다.
  4. 당신은 에돔을 쳐부수었다는 것을 스스로 대견스럽게 여겨 자랑하면서, 건방지게 우쭐대지만, 차라리 당신 궁전에 그대로 머물러 있으면 별 탈이 없을 터인데, 어찌하여 당신은 당신 자신과 유다를 함께 멸망시킬 화근을 스스로 불러들이고 있습니까?"
  5. 그가 이렇게 말하여도 아마샤는 들으려 하지 않았다. 그러나 이것은 하나님께서 하신 일이다. 유다 사람들이 에돔 신들의 뜻을 물으므로, 하나님께서 유다 사람들을 여호아스의 손에 넘겨 주시려고, 아마샤의 마음을 그렇게 만든 것이다.
  1. So Jehoash king of Israel attacked. He and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth Shemesh in Judah.
  2. Judah was routed by Israel, and every man fled to his home.
  3. Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate--a section about six hundred feet long.
  4. He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the temple of God that had been in the care of Obed-Edom, together with the palace treasures and the hostages, and returned to Samaria.
  5. Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.
  1. 이스라엘의 여호아스 왕이 올라와서, 유다의 아마샤 왕을 맞아 유다의 벳세메스에서 대치하였다.
  2. 그러나 유다 군대는 이스라엘 군대에게 패하여, 뿔뿔이 흩어져 자기들의 집으로 도망가고 말았다.
  3. 이스라엘의 여호아스 왕은 벳세메스에서 아하시야의 손자요 요아스의 아들인 유다의 아마샤 왕을 사로잡아서, 예루살렘으로 들어 왔다. 그는 예루살렘 성벽을, 에브라임 문에서부터 성 모퉁이 문에 이르기까지 사백 자 길이의 성벽을 허물어 버렸다.
  4. 그는 또 하나님의 성전 안에서 오벳에돔이 지키고 있는 모든 금과 은과 그릇들을 약탈하고, 왕궁의 보물 창고를 약탈하고, 사람까지 볼모로 잡아서 사마리아로 돌아갔다.
  5. 유다의 요아스의 아들 아마샤 왕은 이스라엘의 여호아하스의 아들 여호아스 왕이 죽은 뒤에도 열다섯 해를 더 살았다.
  1. As for the other events of Amaziah's reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
  2. From the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they conspired against him in Jerusalem and he fled to Lachish, but they sent men after him to Lachish and killed him there.
  3. He was brought back by horse and was buried with his fathers in the City of Judah.
  1. 아마샤가 다스리던 기간에 일어난 다른 사건들은, 처음부터 끝까지 '유다와 이스라엘의 열왕기'에 기록되어 있다.
  2. 아마샤가 주님을 따르다가 등지고 돌아선 뒤에, 예루살렘에서 반란이 일어나자, 아마샤는 라기스로 도망하였다. 그러나 반란을 일으킨 사람들은 라기스에까지 사람을 보내어, 거기에서 그를 죽였고,
  3. 그의 주검을 말에 싣고 와서, 그의 조상들과 함께 '다윗 성'에 장사하였다.
