- The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh--an oracle : This man declared to Ithiel, to Ithiel and to Ucal:
- "I am the most ignorant of men; I do not have a man's understanding.
- I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.
- Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know!
- "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

- 이것은 야게의 아들 아굴이 말한 잠언이다. 이 사람이 이디엘에게 말하고, 또 이디엘과 우갈에게 말하였다.
- 참으로 나는, 사람이라기보다는 우둔한 짐승이며, 나에게는 사람의 총명이 없다.
- 나는 지혜를 배우지도 못하였고, 지극히 거룩하신 분을 아는 지식도 깨우치지 못하였다.
- 하늘에 올라갔다가 내려온 사람이 누구며, 바람을 자기 손에 움켜 쥐고 있는 사람이 누구냐? 물을 그 옷자락으로 싸고 있는 사람이 누구며 땅의 모든 경계선을 그은 사람이 누구인가? 그 사람의 이름은 무엇인지, 그의 아들의 이름은 무엇인지, 정말 네가 아느냐?
- 하나님의 말씀은 모두 순결하며, 그분은 그를 의지하는 사람의 방패가 되신다.

- Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
- "Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die:
- Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
- Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD ?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

- 그 말씀에 아무것도 더하지 말아라. 그렇지 않으면 그분이 너를 책망하시고, 너는 거짓말을 하는 사람이 될 것이다.
- 주님께 두 가지 간청을 드리니, 제가 죽기 전에 그것을 이루어 주십시오.
- 허위와 거짓말을 저에게서 멀리하여 주시고, 저를 가난하게도 부유하게도 하지 마시고, 오직 저에게 필요한 양식만을 주십시오.
- 제가 배가 불러서, 주님을 부인하면서 '주가 누구냐'고 말하지 않게 하시고, 제가 가난해서, 도둑질을 하거나 하나님의 이름을 욕되게 하거나, 하지 않도록 하여 주십시오.
