  1. Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him.
  2. "What is it you want?" he asked. She said, "Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom."
  3. "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said to them. "Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?" "We can," they answered.
  4. Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father."
  5. When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers.
  1. Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
  2. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
  3. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
  4. And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
  5. And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
  1. Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
  2. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
  3. and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--
  4. just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
  5. As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him.
  1. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
  2. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
  3. And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
  4. Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
  5. And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
  1. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"
  2. The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"
  3. Jesus stopped and called them. "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked.
  4. "Lord," they answered, "we want our sight."
  5. Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
  1. And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
  2. And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
  3. And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
  4. They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
  5. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

  1. As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,
  2. saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.
  3. If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."
  4. This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
  5. "Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' "
  1. And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
  2. Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
  3. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
  4. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
  5. Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
  1. The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
  2. They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them.
  3. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
  4. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"
  5. When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, "Who is this?"
  1. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
  2. And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
  3. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
  4. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
  5. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
  1. The crowds answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee."
  1. And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
