  1. Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.
  2. When they heard all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.
  3. Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him.
  4. For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.
  5. Whenever the evil spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God."
  1. But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,
  2. And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
  3. And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.
  4. For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.
  5. And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
  1. But he gave them strict orders not to tell who he was.
  2. Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.
  3. He appointed twelve--designating them apostles--that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach
  4. and to have authority to drive out demons.
  5. These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter
  1. And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.
  2. And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
  3. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
  4. And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
  5. And Simon he surnamed Peter;
  1. James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means Sons of Thunder
  2. Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot
  3. and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
  4. Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.
  5. When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."
  1. And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:
  2. And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
  3. And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
  4. And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
  5. And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
  1. And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."
  2. So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan?
  3. If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
  4. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
  5. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.
  1. And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
  2. And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
  3. And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
  4. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
  5. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
  1. In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house.
  2. I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them.
  3. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."
  4. He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit."
  5. Then Jesus' mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him.
  1. No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
  2. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
  3. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
  4. Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
  5. There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
  1. A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, "Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you."
  2. "Who are my mother and my brothers?" he asked.
  3. Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers!
  4. Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother."
  1. And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
  2. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
  3. And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
  4. For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
